it really really did and we can thank cassie for that let me share that she did start a debate channel that allowed everyone to narrow cast into it so that the rest of the world didn't have to see it

in other news although this may seem like it's about the debate it's actually not

so we had a little chaos the other day where replies i think all replies are being posted as root cast chaos chaos this is from phil and then cassie said we're aware and this fix is in progress but also love the memes so you know when these things happen and then you had said well i know what my virtual background will be on the next gm forecaster and there it is i loved this from king bots no animated pfps replies going on route cast hubs outdated streaks rituals no token toast spacers are you getting it and you know my reply was are you not entertained like

so that was plocalypse the reply i feel like you said this something like that but this was fixed but we've had a number of issues happening over the past week or so from just a number of different different areas but all sort of relating to the hubs and sort of what's happening there oop i did not wanna go to that one yet so this was sort of the breakdown of what happened

so root cause was expensive iteration this is from v when a hub gets a message from a peer it iterates over its entire peer store to track some stats as the number of peers grew the iteration took longer and the number of iterations needed kept increasing eventually the iteration couldn't be completed before the next one don't know what words i'm saying at the moment but those of you devs and technical folks probably got that and this was from sanjay this is a tricky tricky to track down there were a lot of dead ends special thanks to wazimandias for basically fixing it last night and not telling the rest of us cassie and sds for some deep lib p two p and tcp tuning magic which we thankfully didn't need and finally to my good friend claude who pointed whoops whoops show more one moment pointed me to the node prof command which is able to profile worker threads would have been much more difficult to narrow down the root cause without of it without it so hopefully this has rectified seems to be and

of it we also got a new warpcast status page this from v we have a new dashboard that gives you real time info about how quickly warpcast is reading and writing messages in an ideal world messages are being read and written in under five seconds and the message queue is close to zero so this is good to see and should be helpful it does say the numbers are quite a bit worse right now due to the ongoing incident and h t two sds for building this dashboard so this is really helpful for future outages and when we're have some concerns about what's going on especially for those like nanar and airstock or those running hubs who may need a little more information as to what's happening so they don't think it's on their end so i think we're all like it's all pretty much good right now seems to me i kinda miss the yeah i mean there'll be something else comfortable don't be comfortable at all no no no

that usually it's probably the toe spacers it's the yanking it's the yanking and the toe spacers it the other problem that was happening i didn't pull a cast for this was for a little bit the images weren't showing like that was it was all related to that where hubs wasn't showing the image wasn't showing certain parts of a message right away so it could have been links it could have been images and i saw that happen for me i think that was yesterday i had a little issue with that and then it rectified itself pretty quickly but it was just i think it's the delay of the of the information just taking a little bit longer to render

moving on the other thing that there's been lots of chat about is streaks so how's your streak going

so this from dan small improvement for channel streaks on warpcast if you visit a profile and tap on the streak indicator you'll get more detail about your current streak we're sending in app notifications eight hours before your streak expires on your on our list is to add local time zone support to get smarter with notifications so you get this little notification when you started when it expires if you've casted today if you're on you know on top of it you can find this information right there on your profile so if streaks are your thing great we still have a lot of people pushing back on the streaks

brilliant yeah brilliant kbc brilliant yeah obvious i i didn't even think of that of course that makes a lot of sense one another another reason to go use supercast which i have and often don't use but i have it i have it ready to go as my backup just in case so i do that's a really good idea though especially while i'm on vacation so i don't lose my streak but also i don't care if i lose my streak i'm really not that attached to it but others maybe so great idea oh wait oops we already did that one i don't know why i have that twice moving on this from ted this was a great great conversation happening about on chain media that ted kind of started based on pods.media's stats here talking about podcasts are are coming on chain we're the home for 50 plus shows five fifty plus episodes eighty one five hundred plus collectors 2,500 plus mints and it's only getting started so they had their they shared their dune dashboard and ted's comment back was two things can be true this is a good revenue generation for these pods that wouldn't have generated on traditional platform as a podcaster minutes listened is infinitely more valuable to me compared to mintz which in my opinion is the most unreliable on chain metric for quality of multimedia content and this really got into some really good discussion as you go through and look at the replies you even have antonio from moz jumping in there but mostly she was asking about ad revenue and proxy and levy and lucas from pods so there's a and me so there's a good there's a good conversation happening here and what you know it boiled down to was those two things that really the ted summed up in that in her cast was that you can start a new podcast and actually have it generate some revenue if you're on chain like right away there can be if people are collecting it there can be a little bit of not a lot a smidge but something and if you do the same thing and just started on web two you're looking at nothing for probably years and years and years until you can at least bring some advertisers on board from the platforms themselves very few are going to be rewarded except for your very very top 1% something like that of creators are going to get rewarded on the various platforms whether it's any of the platforms really anyone any that are sharing any kind of creator rewards so youtube does but again you're going to have to be way up there in numbers for that to ever happen twitter started doing the same fairly recently but the same kind of thing so in terms of that part of it it you know it's definitely beneficial but it does not help with distribution at all i will say that very difficult for distribution there's no way to even filter out like categories on zora to just see all the podcasts or something like that so there's nothing like that right now pod stop media obviously that's a little bit that's starting to grow we've we've had many conversations with them i love what they're building but it hasn't made sense yet because they don't have video yet and it hadn't made sense for us yet and also you know distribution's just sort of starting to get going so but i love what they're doing and i think it's the right direction we're still going to be on chain first but we can't be on chain only so thoughts

he gifted me the red color of my pfp so it's called it nownish red and i loved it and i did go and meant a few more as well so this is really fun so if you're not familiar what it is is that there you know the very various colors all the colors you can mint but you can also name the color and that to me was kind of fun so i minted a couple of various purples that i was able to actually like pick the exact color from our our cover image those apps actual purples and then i also did the same with a flow go known and i named it flamingo and i pulled that exact pink so that was kind of fun so this is from jake beautiful base color site by henry the permissionless nature of crypto never ceases to amaze me i can launch a project in the morning and see someone i've never met add value by the afternoon check out henry's site and view your colors like this and i thought this was really cool and a great wow that's like making giving me it's making me dizzy but it's fun it's it was really fun to see that aspect of it too that people were diving in and kind of creating their own things and we've seen this with other projects too where people will sort of do their own take on it and this was from phil was really touched by the outpouring of support for base colors today received 100 plus dms from all sorts of people who were genuinely curious about a new project from an internet stranger this farcaster place is pretty special so love that love that that you know that we and we see this over and over again with support for new projects and within farcaster community and i mean i was excited it was just really fun it was a really fun one and the other thing that launched this week which i did not pull up so i need to pull this up really quick was scoops finally launched and although it seems like a similar thing to all these other things but it's really not because ice cream a little different it's a different because ice cream but also different because it actually i think although we have no confirmation of as to how this works it is showing the screen no i'm actually trying not to show you because i was looking for a particular thing

we don't do editing we don't do any editing so you'll all see you'll see all of this in there even though i was trying to find this exact one down here this was from salvino all right homies scoop phase one is now live in the last twenty four hours we've seen $5.50 ks in eth deposited into the app how do you play scoop buy your favorite creators on farcaster the more engagement they get the more you get paid from the community pool creators earn a cut of every trade so this is my understanding is that it is going to tie back to our activity on on forecaster however we have no information about what those metrics are how that's happening all of that and it's really funny because when i look at the leaderboard of who people are buying they're still buying like some some of the people at the top are twitter influencers who haven't casted for three months so

like is it speculation that when you give them an incentive they will come cast here and that would be interesting although maybe not helpful to qdo or is it going to be other types of metrics so we'll see yeah don't give people yeah don't speculate too much on this

i think that's what's happening but if i'm understanding how this is going to be played i was buying the the bargains of people that i know cast a lot so i was in there like buying up all the all all all you all you'll see

yeah so i immediately looked at the leaderboard saw somebody near the top or maybe at the top who i just don't care for and i was like you know what i'd rather they not be able to buy me but permissionless so permissionless so i don't have a choice and that to me as a creator i think is interesting and the argument back would be well you're going to get a piece of what they do and my argument back would be i don't care i just still don't want them to benefit from my activity so i don't know we'll see how this all plays out but i think it'll be something to continue to watch
