what was i gonna say oh no but i just wanted oh going back to the whole are you how you use the farcaster graph i don't love the idea that every time you're using an app you have to give it a signer and then it's yeah can post on your behalf and this and i don't mind the idea of using different aspects of forecaster so maybe some app wants to use it just for followers maybe you're not going to post back to hubs maybe you want like i don't know i think it's totally fine and cool and also it's too early to know what works so let it let it happen and who knows and maybe there ends up being an app that takes the farcaster graph as a cold start doesn't push back to hubs ends up being bigger we've seen this in other kind of open source projects and then you know it kind of forks it and that becomes something even bigger you have no idea so you gotta yeah
it's permanent you gotta let people just build we'll we'll we'll we'll know soon enough i suppose so yeah but it's good to see all the things happening so moving on our last our last topic which will which will take the rest of our little news time and then we're going to start bringing some folks up fair warning if you keep replying would slop to accounts by the way there's a new slop channel if you haven't seen it slop to accounts that don't follow or engage with you you'll you'll end up labeled as spam be thoughtful the gpt assisted attempts are obvious they are obvious but you know i have a feeling that very soon they won't be so obvious be thoughtful okay to have a few replies that don't get any engagement but if you reply to pretty much every cast and nothing the problem is most likely you no one is entitled to another person's attention we've heard this before i did like some of the discussion that came from this cast so this was from steven sill is it possible for an account labeled as spam to be unlabeled in the future is this process manual or automatic is there a dispute process for accounts that have been labeled as spam is there a way for an account to see they have been labeled as spam and by the way there is a way actually i saw somebody had created something that could see this but i just don't know if that's accurate so possible

you and then this also kinda sparked some confusion as well but this was also great from emeritus you aren't entitled to other people's attention but broadcaster still gives you the opportunity to treat it like the privilege it is and you won't lose it repeatedly bug the shit out of people and you probably will i mean that's pretty clear like that's really the issue this was from rish spam detection is heavily weighted on reply spam won't mark you as spam simply if you connect an app to your account you've you you actually have to spam someone you can revoke individual apps at app.neanerror.com and this was in response to type of and this is what i mean by there's there's some confusion so type of had said not knowing what the spam algo is led me to disconnect all connected apps not sure if it was a good move but would rather disconnect all connected apps not sure if it was a good move but would rather play it safe using multiple apps through nana or not being able to to or knowing how to disconnect individual apps when we feel like removing all of them was the better option so i don't think this is necessary and does not really impact at all it's more about the behavior but there has been a lot of confusion and this is also from dan this is from dexter i think if we use other fc clients there's a risk of marked as spam also most of notifications comments likes and follows are hidden in w c this is incorrect so just wanna clear up some things as much as we can because we only know so much but using the oh there it is yeah pichi has just put there is something that can help you see if you are showing up as a spammer for from the ham community
i i think there's just a little overreaction to it but also concern that you're being marked as spam if you're replying to people constantly with you know wow wow and other low effort replies this is nothing new it's just a new it's just another another moment nothing new just another moment that it it and people do not like that and they aren't reacting to it or they report you for continuously doing it and it feels almost like harassment you're going to get marked as spam so don't do that welcome to the don't do this channel there you go and there's a frame by mbr that's where i saw it and it can tell you if you're marked as spam and it puts you on this website so there you go so look for mbr's frame

it's true this is a little bit more on that oops let me have actually pull it up on the screen that would help from dan in replying to wake which actually this from wake was really good good example of replying to every cast with a low effort reply even if positive while intentioned it's fine to do occasionally some of you are worried about you'll be mis classified as bots which tells me you don't really know what moxie farmer bots look like moxie farmer bots saturate cast replies with mechanical content such as below so there you go and you can see that sometimes where if it's an ai one it picks up words and they're just they make no sense when you read the reply it's like oh you can tell it's ai just pulling things together so yeah don't do that and then lastly this from dan what if instead of incentivizing for engagement we can incentivize the identification of spam would that reduce spam and dan's reply was simply perverse incentive wikipedia i did not know what this is and then today or yesterday i learned about eradicating cobras in india which made me think of pie python bounties in florida and now i probably won't be able to sleep tonight due to snake nightmares thank you dan so what that meant was that wikipedia link brings you to the situation where in india they incentivize people to catch and kill cobras and then what happened was people started breeding cobras that could be caught killed and and turned in for a bounty so then they got overrun by cobras like it worked at first and again it's one of those show me show me the incentive i'll show you the outcome so that's the the concern there

so cute so i'm glad that like you know what chris corella i was gonna bring you up to talk about purple but i'm glad i don't have to because it's time to pass that torch you know and i think that torch has been passed so peachy can you chat a little bit about what first of all purple for those who are don't know and are new and there were some folks actually asking this question on the timeline i think it was renee who was one of them purple is the dao that was created to support builders in the farcaster ecosystem and there's been some changes lately in a very positive direction of sort of adjusting some some things around there so do you wanna give us a quick update about what purple's been up to and what's happening now
sure so purple as as i try to think of it is a a way to really signal that you were all in on farcaster so i think the best way to have probably done that was to invest in farcaster in their latest round but if that was not an option for you the second best thing you can do for farcaster is to join the original farcaster dao which is purple and this is another way to basically pool money and resources with other people who believe farcaster is the future and help fund the farcaster you wanna see and what i really appreciate that about this is that everyone in the dao is builders with a capital b so they're not just devs they're not just coders they're not just founders they're artists they're creatives they're collaborators they're collectors it's really the entire flywheel of the farcaster ecosystem but i think the biggest problem is that most people who joined farcaster in 2024 don't really know about purple they know a lot about base they know a lot about the people who have been cheerleading projects that kind of started in 2024 but purple precedes all of this and purple was even the first channel on farcaster which i just learned so it's really been there you know since the beginning of this building of all these legos and railroad tracks and i found out herocast was actually funded through purple like there are so many things you take for granted today that only came around because
of that first funding that gm far farcaster got was from purple
oh my gosh see here's here's another great story so we love we love purple i i love it too and it's it's just such a great way to connect with a lot of people who really aren't in your bubble or your network i feel like the algo is you know always in flux but it really puts us in bubbles and we have a hard time getting out of those bubbles and purple is a great way to do that because you find a ton of new people to follow you find a ton of new people to engage with who you might not have otherwise known and i'm just really excited about bringing the 2024 class of forecasters into purple because i think they're gonna bring a new energy and a new excitement that you know just hasn't been there in the past few months because i feel like most of the people who knew about purple had already been in it and now it's just kind of reeducating the masses that this really cool dao exists and letting them see you know the types of projects that are getting funded which i think has changed like i think it's gone from just you know software to now like meetups and purple helped fund farcon like it's really leaning into how do we bring more people to farcast or how do we make these irl connections so that you can then go back and build url because as much as we get to know each other through little pfps it changes so dramatically when you can have an in person conversation or even a voice conversation and so i'm happy to see things like firehouse and tavern really taking off because we're getting to know each other on a new level and so i'm the revenue chair for purple which means it's my job to make sure these tokens get bid on so so you're gonna see me cast about it a lot apologies in advance but i really wanna make sure that no more tokens get burned and that they get in the hands of the next generation of builders with a capital b on firecaster who wanna lean in and wanna be here but maybe need a little network and a little support to kind of bring their talents to fruition and to the forefront

oh i sincerely appreciate that so one dropping these little nuggets is amazing because this is the great stuff that i think does really well on farcaster when you get to tell people these stories of things to happen before they were here and how all of these things like intersect in the line so i just got my 1st builder dao token and i had no idea that like purple was actually the first thing to use it so stuff like that is great and again appreciate people i think the chat's gonna get probably invigorated again and i think that's another selling point that i didn't wanna push too hard but i've gotten some encouragement like hey let's get that chat popping so i'm gonna you know let folks know it's a great way to connect because we we've talked a lot and you guys talked a lot right about people who are trying to find their place in the farcaster ecosystem it's really hard and you kind of have to have a cobble behind you so i can't think of a better one than purple so it's another way like to get connected with new people i tell everybody you know join hyper subs join gated chats they're full of great info purple has a phenomenal gated chat the channel is gated right now but soon it will not be so i don't wanna spill too much tea and steal people's thunder but another round is coming for folks to kinda get some funding for what they've been building that's been helping out farcaster so i'm encouraging folks to grab their tokens now so that their likes will count in the next round and they can help get funding to hopefully some of the newer folks who have been building because i think the last round that happened was was still when frames was in its infancy so so much has changed in the past 2 to 3 months and with moxie in play as well we're seeing a ton of brand new builders coming up so i think that will give us another you know kind of a base to talk around to say hey this is some of the cool stuff that purple does like we're able to put money in builders' pockets directly and i'm hoping that'll encourage some more folks to apply for grants and you know maybe make it a little more transparent that anyone can ask for help from the dao and i wanna make sure people know that so unfortunately you're gonna hear me talk about it a lot but i appreciate when people like and recast the algo really does like recast and quote cast so just sharing and amplifying things you see in the purple channel are gonna go a long way so thank you so much

so yeah this is the noun space homepage if you guys aren't familiar with noun space yet we are a new farcaster client inspired by the customizability of myspace and we were one of the 3 projects that got funded by nounsdao on april 1st we got a $100,000 grant to build a nounsage forecaster client so this is the client that tom envisioned and the team's been working super hard all on chain summer to bring this to life we launched it on july 2nd and so right now it's in private alpha so you have to have these nogs nfts which you can mint right from the fidget on our home page right now it's like point 0111 eth or if you're like a member of purpledao or nouns or nars or yellow collective a lot of nounish communities then you can also make one for free for like $2 and then soon we're gonna open up the alpha token gate and let all the farcaster users in but you still want these nogs because they'll give you early access to new features and premium access for life we have some premium features planned plus they just look great they they go with every outfit
so cute they go with everything yes absolutely i like that you call everything fidgets i think that's really cute you had some really cute fidget spinners i wish i had mine handy i don't have it here that was really a fun way to brand it was a really good idea for you know swag what can you just give me a like what's what's the vision of nounspace and why is it called nounspace just for everybody who does not know
yeah well we want to be the best broadcaster client and we think that the way to do that is by bringing customizability back to social we think it's something that's been missed since the myspace days like instagram facebook twitter even orbcast orbcast just has some cool stuff with frames but really they're not very customizable you kinda have to color within their lines and we think that there's a lot of opportunity to let people express themselves and give users and communities the tools to share the content the vibes and the functionality that they want to with their audience so what we came up with to do this is kind of 3 core features for our our first version there's fidgets which are these little building blocks the mini apps for the technical folks out there they're just react components so i like to call them like frames on crack because they're much more powerful in fact we have a frame fidget right here so you can embed any frame from fardcaster in a fidget and embed that either on your home base which i'll show you guys in a second a home base is just a space that basically only you can see it's like your home feed but fully customizable and then we call your public profile a space so you can embed these these phidgets on either your home base or your space we've got a growing list of fidgets we're looking forward to creating a fidget sdk so that anybody can build any kind of cool fidget they can imagine and you can configure these fidgets as well and so i'll show you that in a second that's one of the core features the other big feature is themes so the ability to customize the the look and the sound even with music so things like fonts and background colors i'll show i can show you guys all that in a second but here you can see like we're eating our own dog food on our own home page we're using these fidgets to like share the content and the functionality that we wanna share with you on our home page and you can see here's firecaster right here even without being logged in so i'll log in real quick we're using privy so shout out to privy for making it really easy to give users some time

like a whole library of paragraph if we just wanted to show like all the different nouns based posts we could drop that in there so really you can see how just like a simple fidget like iframes also gives us just like infinite possibilities and it's the same thing with frames which is all these cool frames we can embed this is just a text fidget this is another iframe fidget with a video and then here we have a nonish governance fidget where you can keep track of all the different nonish proposals and right now if you wanna vote we kick you over to camp but in theory we could we could have the voting in here we actually have a snapshot

it would be cool to see a purple page as well similar to this with those details i think that would be super helpful and have the have the bidding right there would be great i think that would be super useful
i agree and so purple we just hooked up all the purple community with knogs i know we've sent purple a few nogs as well cool and as soon as they get the the space customized we'll feature it here on the explore page so we're starting to add some new featured spaces nows will be up here too so because we're funded by nows they wanna give back as much as we can and we think nounspace is actually a really great way to do that because as you can see here we have like not only we have nouns communities on top we have other communities that aren't really integrated with nouns in any way until now so like keepkey hardware wallet shapeshift which i think is pretty cool so like here's an opportunity for nouns to create and give value to all these different projects and communities throughout the web 3 space and even in the web 2 space you can imagine how a lot of this might be useful to even a web 2 user whereas like warpcast is kinda hard to get a non web 3 user excited about like a decentralized twitter but a fully customizable social app that's inspired by myspace which a lot of us have nostalgia for we think can be like really compelling to an even broader audience than what we're currently seeing just with
do you have any like are you helping brands create some of their pages like if we had somebody who had their own you know like a shape shift but somebody in the web 3 space who wanted help with this is that something you can do to sort of make it a little bit more like that one looked amazing with the background animation and all of that but they may not have the time or skill to do that is that something you could assist with or even if it's a paid service
i would be happy to do it for free right now we're we wanna get all these cool communities on board so i'd be super happy to we're also we're working on a feature for smart urls where where you can share any theme or any fidget or any tab like a complete tab with someone via url and then also get credit for referring them if they're a new user so we think that will be like we thought we thought about like oh should we just let the noun space admins go in and edit anyone's space like even without their permission basically we're like well maybe but for now let's why don't we start with like customizing their space and sending them a link and saying hey here's your space that we customized just click here and you can add it in a couple clicks

you can go right now we're gonna have this natively integrated at some point where you can just prompt directly in noun space like what you want your space to look like and then boom get auto generated code but right now you can do it and copy paste you can go to your favorite ai tool and say i want a space that looks like x you know i want a a purple space with with unicorns and rainbows that follow the mouse right and then the ai is so good it'll give you perfect code

so yeah the other 2 are gabriel youssef and jb rubinovits and i know gabriel got hired by farcaster or wordcast pretty awesome and he released 498.wtf which like takes a lot of the different nounish content and aggregates it it's not technically a client because you can't sign in with fardcaster so but i think he's still working on it

jb rabinovitz is working on noun social i believe she's still working on it as well but it's it it shows how it takes a lot of work to build a client it takes time even when you have like super skilled experienced developers i think we were lucky to be able to get together a team i don't think we would have been able to do it if with a solo dev or like a couple devs so we've had like a lot of a lot of support both from our internal team and then i also wanna give a shout out to like benjamin latsko from nouns who did the branding for nounspace and helped us do all these knobs did all the hand drawn frames

for nouns which was pretty cool and there's excitement for the project so yeah we've been pretty blessed it's been a lot of work we've been there's been a lot of late nights this this summer to to get this to this point and as you can see it's still pretty early there's still a lot of stuff we've gotta do to improve but yeah we we we're we're pretty happy to be one of the only clients live right now and we're preparing to ask nams for some more grant funding to keep building this because we delivered on like the v zero and we think this is a great opportunity for nouns to proliferate in new ways not only build great tools for all the nouns communities and have a great nouns broadcaster client that all the nouns can use but also help expose nouns and all the cool stuff that nouns is doing to other communities outside of nouns so we think it's a great opportunity we're gonna be hope
