i'll just say i had a road trip last week and i pulled up some old podcasts and i was listening to many such cases where i was catching up and dan came on so it's already now it was like i think he recorded shortly after mhmm farcon even yeah but he talked about channels and then i was listening to another farcaster podcast that had and i can't even remember who it was but it was talking about channels and honestly it's i think dan admitted there there's a little bit of struggle with kind of you know are channels the thing how do you do it has there not been an investment in terms of turning them into something you know he really pushed to remember like if you want amplification cast in channels and and people have i mean he did train he said the people who kind of have the largest engagement largest followings tend to be the ones that are casting in channels
it's changed my behavior like i will always look to find a channel to cast into more so that than i used to i think it's not always clear why

the the the the one thing that i i will mention that i actually just was just talking to gianna about my my wife so she doesn't have a ton of followers i think i think she has like less than a a thousand and she has at least in her anecdotally seen a lot more engagement when she doesn't post in her channel so so when it's just like totally bare versus posting in like you know motion cam or something else and so that's yeah it sounds really interesting because the channels that
she would post in obviously have a ton of followers
so i think there's still like have a ton of followers so i think there's still like probably some waiting going around like just because she posted music doesn't mean that every single person in music is gonna see her see her post right right so it's almost like it it almost seems like the inverse is is true for for her but i i i couldn't explain why

i'm kidding i'm kidding yeah for sure for sure so so yeah so today i guess there's like gonna be a ton of irl events so like people meeting up in different cities people who are essentially you know on on farcaster there's gonna be a url version where you can join professor on a on a on a stream and we figured that it'd be really fun if people can basically capture the moment right like take photos from those events and share them as polaroids and our app motioncam allows you to do that and so we basically just had like have these like customized broadcaster friday borders so actually the the the handwriting is actually ted's ted's handwriting that she sent in

bottom of the border and we also have like these stamps that represent the different sort of cities where these events are happening i don't think we've been a % exhaustive so apologies if your if your city isn't in there we'll try to get them in there today but but yeah that's the idea and if you do participate in the if you do sort of like you know create a photo and then post it in the farcaster fridays channel then you are eligible for a giveaway so we'll have we we have some merch both on the motioncam side and the farcaster side that we'll be essentially raffling out and yeah we're really excited
this is so fun so let's dive in a little bit more to so for those who don't know what motion cam is can you just give us a little tldr on what this is and sort of what brought you to create it in the first place
totally yeah so it's like it's it's hard because it you almost have to take a you almost have to explain in different ways to to different people right so like if you're a normie who just like knows nothing about crypto that's like one story right i was like what is moshichem and then if you're like crypto curious and you kinda know ethereum you know nfts like that's like a different story so i'll assume that your your audience is is pretty crypt rollers like knows like one of them like they're on farcaster right they're they're watching gm farcaster and so it's basically just like a really really easy way to create to to to put polaroids on chain like on chain polaroids is kinda like the the easiest way to think about it it's mobile first so it's a mobile experience you you don't go to like a website and like upload a photo there so it's a mobile app where you essentially select the photo and there's like an editor and it's almost like you know it's like instagram maybe minus like with like 99% fewer features but essentially essentially like an instagram editor where you kind of like pan zoom and then you choose a polaroid border so you choose a border that kinda goes with your photo and then you can add stickers to it and then and then publish it and it's automatically on chain it uses coinbase smart wallet it's published on base and a lot of the complications are kind of abstracted away so we do a lot of things under the hood for you automatically so it feels really smooth and i think the the thing that you know the the piece that we're we're most excited about is like the the the frames right the polaroid frames like the farcaster friday one or or or what have you net we have nouns ones these were not created by us right like we didn't design this fwc twenty four frame someone else like like other communities have submitted this like whether it's an artist or like you know a dao or an organization whatever and so it's it's almost like it it it's a very composable photo i guess it's a it's a photo that's composed of like the picture that you took but also like some some other artists like helped kind of design and and you can decorate it with stickers that like yet other people submit right and it's almost like i don't know like like a very collaborative collage of of stuff and then when that thing gets minted when that thing gets collected by other people which you know different people collect these for different reasons but if it does get collected then the fees the collect fees kinda get split amongst you you as a person who took the photo and then like the pullover creator and sticker creator and all that so so yeah that's that's that's it in a nutshell
i like the the way that you're doing the splits too i think that's really helpful to the creators and making it you know part of an encouragement and incentive to actually create it and to also drop a photo on there and it made for it was so much fun like when we're at base camp and seeing all the different you know photos that were up and having the tag in there so you could scroll through everyone else's pictures from fwb fest and basecamp and then mint them and so that was really fun and there were some that you know either things i missed or things i was in that i didn't even realize people had minted so that was really fun to be able to sort of pick those up and mint them for you know a couple cents or

yeah i i think i think what's what's really fun is like is giving people a reason to post something that they like normally wouldn't post you know and i think instagram actually did this really well where like you know a a random picture of like you know what's on your desk might not be cool in and of itself but like you add a filter to it and all of a sudden it's like a piece of art and then you won't you you know you wanna show it off with your friends and so a lot of the photos i i think what i love about the stuff that's shared through mochicam is the photos i mean this is no offense to anyone right like the photos aren't like that good necessarily right they're not like by themselves like these incredible art pieces some of them are but a lot of them are just like really you know casual like everyday photos like yeah like i mean this is pretty nice i don't want to say any any i do
but it's a very like this is just what you're doing in that moment

totally yeah the the answer is yes totally can it is you know it's it's not totally permissionless as as as you might think it's just a google form so like if you are an artist or if you're like you know and you don't even have to be an artist if you just wanna submit borders or stickers to be on the motion cam app and kinda used by by anyone who might be interested you can submit them through a google form and we have like a we have a template we have like a figma template and sort of guidelines on like sizes you know the the the the type of file and all that and we it's like i would say the vast majority of the submissions we we let through like we're we're not like super picky about it and so yeah the bar the bar isn't like really high i think we just like want it to like look like not terrible right like you know it should be transparent right you should be able to see a photo like behind the thing right but otherwise like you know people have created all kinds of frames that that aren't even really pullover frames right some are like it's like it's like a circular frame instead of a square it's like the logo for like you know an actual brand so there's all kinds of stuff that you can do but yeah anyone can submit and then you basically also submit your wallet address which would is that which is where we would send you kind of the the the royalties whenever like someone mints the thing that that that features your stickers or borders so yeah
