discussing today yeah yes so this is dan and oksen kind of got into it over culture this all relates back to some things happening on twitter with people switching from ethereum to solana and making a big you know to do of it and some of them are doing it more for the culture than for the tech the tech is not that you can you can we can discuss this over and over again but the tech is not that different it's really coming down to culture and or funding flat out either culture because you think you can grab a bigger audience it fits better with what you're doing and then also can you attract funding because you're going to that chain okay so and dan had said culture and vibes don't fix d 30 which is retention of people sticking around underestimate culture and vibes at your absolute peril blockchains are very much our brands back in the 60s robert irwin was frustrated that all the good artists would move from california to new york and a famous dealer told him that no matter your stature a painting that would sell in one day in new york might take 3 weeks or months to sell in la if you disagree and think blockchains are just invisible tech try launching your consumer crypto product on iota or stellar and see how far you get or i think there was another comment on twitter that why don't you just move farcaster to cardano then so what are your thoughts about so i do think there is a culture difference at the moment do i think it will be there forever no i think in the long run tech wins the better tech is going to win but at this moment in time with such a small ecosystem and small small industry culture does make a big difference and base has a very and ethereum has a very different culture from bitcoin has a very different culture from solana i'm gonna bring cardano in this mix because i don't even know at this point but they're a little quieter they're doing their thing so i do think there's something to this but also to dan's point it doesn't necessarily fix if the product's not good if your app isn't good it doesn't matter which chain it's on and i do agree with that point

yeah that's why we're not good that's why we like because we'll we disagree with everyone it's like i think cultural vibes matter i actually think it matters a lot in terms of like cute like humans organization and whatnot going back to like organized religions and we talk about cults a lot and but to yes i think forecaster's in a very different place i think that it's right to to focus on product development look dan's strategy is very much we're gonna build product and figure out how to create a fundamentally different product from a consumer perspective that is different than everything out there no one needs to know that it's on ethereum like he's attracted the kind of ethereum enthusiasts first that's great what's interesting in some ways when dan says like vibes don't matter culture doesn't matter by him saying we're we're going after pmf we don't care about tech like he's setting the culture that actually is a culture and that is a vibe and there's people who are gonna like oh god i was gonna say vibe with that i don't wanna say that
we need different different language different vocabulary today yeah they're gonna resonate it's gonna resonate

so i mean and that's it because it's like okay like you're having these conversations out there and i'm looking at this and i'm like yeah i still believe in i actually still believe in in dan's approach for building forecaster like and by the way it doesn't mean there's not other people building that are also have good approaches but i one like i time is scarce and i've chosen to like this is where i'm spending all my living waking hours and some of my sleeping ones too so

i don't need to know that it's the only way to do it but it's good enough for me and this is where i'm here and i believe in it so i still like that people are willing to have discussion on timeline publicly like i don't want this to be a place where it's too culty and rah rah and everyone is hyper aligned to right one way of doing things and and and and i guess and listen oxen's like a forecaster og so i it's they went back and forth but i don't i think it was yeah
i didn't pull all the back and forth because there was a lot of back and forth and i think that you know some of it was a little snarky and some of it was a little serious but there was a lot of like we were going in circles i think i do think that there are points that are true for both like that do make a lot of sense it's not just one thing or another so i think that you know vibes matter culture matters but it's not going to fix your fundamental problems if your product doesn't work or your product is not interesting whatever the issue is it's not it just moving it to a different chain isn't gonna fix it but aligning the culture with what you're building might so it might fix it or might help but it won't it may not fix the underlying problems so yeah so that was interesting
