yeah i can i can go ahead so i actually started my my web 3 journey at consensus on the ethereum side so i was building payment infrastructure i was actually super excited at the time about cbdcs central bank digital currencies i'm not so much now
we've all gotten over that yes yeah
that was that was 2 cycles 2 cycles ago and it was very much for me trading nfts on ethereum that i had some friends essentially trying out you know hey there's this really fun platform you know called salon art and like magic eden 2021 august solana summer early days and i remember that they would send me these mint links and you kinda have to spam the the the button to essentially guarantee that your transaction came in that was before all the optimization transactions throughputs that solana went through and i love that experience it was like a rush of i think the early days of the internet for me that was a parallel moment so i joined ironically the nft infrastructure standard on solana called metaplex at the time in october helped scale that out and then formally joined the foundation around 2 years ago where i lead all things creator economy and also consumer as well

that because it was so fun yeah nice cutaway for me i similarly first started playing around with solana because of nfts and artist that i actually have his irl art named joey roth he did an nft man on solana in early 2021 and like i was just like blown away by the technology it was just so fast so cheap you know compared to minting on ethereum especially at that time when you could be paying as much as huge $300

know cement something on ethereum and so i just you know started you know better understanding the technology playing around i was a vc at the time and so part of my role was getting to know folks at the various foundations and i got to know one of our colleagues nikhil kumar
and this was you know pre ftx and then ftx happened and i was at a generalist venture firm and i was responsible for crypto and blockchain investing and i stayed on for another 6 or 8 months but i only could get one deal through investment committee you know a lot of general species lost their appetite for crypto post ftx and also this is when ai you know was taking off and so a lot of the attention and interest was going in that direction but i was like very committed to staying in crypto very committed to blockchain and solana was a blockchain i thought just had a ton of potential and you know the whole ftx thing i didn't really fully appreciate and understand like why solana was getting dragged through the mud with it and i and i still don't need to be honest and i've been at salon foundation now since last july and i still don't fully understand that but thankfully that's pretty much in the rearview mirror
that's i have a question about that so i think the big concerns was that at one point ftx held 70% of solana like or something like that level right i think
they owned 10% of solana okay and galaxy sold all of that sold in the bankruptcy
state that was my question so there's no longer any solana that's kinda involved or in involved with the bankruptcy or anything like

yeah and the cool thing about it really is when they sold that soul that soul has i think of and i and pedro correct me if if i'm wrong or if you know the facts here but i think that soul has a 4 year lockup and the sales in the estate were ultimately at about a 20% discount to spot at that time so you got folks that are now long holding soul and and at the time i think that you know it was sold from like 4 to 6 $1,000,000,000 worth of sol obviously prices

gone up but couple of things that i think would be helpful for the farcaster community to know if they don't solana is the most used blockchain in the world in fact there's more transactions on solana than all other public blockchains combined about 50,000,000 daily transactions on solana and there's also more daily volume on solana pretty much than all other blockchains combined there's you know about $10,000,000,000 of of on chain volume daily and i mean those numbers really are incredible when you think about you know just the scale that solana is operating at and again the speed and the cost are are really unbelievable
how can we get more folks building for solana on farcaster has there been any efforts to sort of i think that's why we don't see a lot of talk about solana because we do have you know you can attach a wallet so i would assume then we could do some stuff related to that but i just don't see anything happening is there any way to sorta get that rolling
yeah i have a question i'll i'll let pedro answer this because he's gonna be much closer to it but i have a question for you which is i went this morning and and this is on me but like i went to watch the stream on unlonely before i joined the call and i see you've moved off of that and did you move

that's one reason but that was not the only reason that was the moment in which we decided to park but it was for many many reasons it was just a difference of approach and and brian was actually pivoting to where he's essentially the content creator so that's there was just a difference in approach too that was changed but yeah yeah so nothing against solana at all in regards to that it had it had it had very little to do with that move the move was symbolic of some other things
yeah and in fact i think it'd be cool if there was tighter integrations and it doesn't really matter what is the like is there a social network on solana or is it crypto twitter like is it twitter being the social because so much i think it's so cool that i just love forecaster as like the social platform before onchain i think it'd be like why not
i would say there are 2 there are 2 main ones to look out for 1 and this is i think the the largest the largest creator platform is called driphouse drip dot house h a u s it's essentially a creator subscriptions platform where you could subscribe to a creator they can gamify you know drops nft drops to their collectors and it's all on chain so all the nfts all the content is effectively on chain and then there's also the gamification system is micropayments on solana so i think they have over 600 creators they've actually made over $3,000,000 for those creators collectively and what's interesting about that is that the average donation size is 14¢
so oh wow
when you think about yeah when you think about what is only possible on solana and other high throughput blockchains comparing that to web 2 are the competition
previously the real competition yeah when you look at
patreon tiktok youtube onlyfans minimum donations is regularly $5 $15 to create per transaction so by reducing that and leveraging the high throughput speed of solana you can actually create a lot of abundant economic activity that previously hasn't been available to the creator economy before so that's awesome that strip that's more on the creator i would say collector relationship there's also a large social network called discover it's i would i would argue it's more of directly like a forecaster competitor i think the difference there is that they're they're very much focusing on fungible token communities so the ability for fungible token communities to organize and distribute tokens to each other so on like the spectrum of like intellectual discourse versus organization of fundable communities it's very much on that on the token side of things
so are they essentially using that in place of like telegram or something for coordination on that coin if you heard that sorry i think i froze a little bit
yeah i i think they're it's an attempt right i think telegram and we could even talk about telegram bots on solana because that's
i think that's huge
yeah oh my god i think 90% of all telegram like trading bots usage and volume is happening on solana yeah just because i think again like the speed of the content that you're able to send a message is almost the same of the speed that you're able to execute a solana transaction wow wow so it's like unparalleled in terms of speed of content velocity and transaction velocity
yeah and i feel like solana's really had an unbelievable year this past year has been explosive for solana growth it seems like and just a whole bunch of new folks that have found their way to solana before they found their way to bitcoin or eth which is really interesting if you think about that so especially considering where we were just a couple of years ago so it's exciting so back i wanna jump back again so how can we can we get more people building on solana on farcaster or building different frames or things like that that might do something along with the solana wallets that you can attach there
short answer is yes of course we saw we saw kind of a we saw a excitement about solana builders on farcaster when when frame solana compatibility came out and then also when solana blinks came out right blinks for everyone who who doesn't know blockchain links effectively the ability to execute a solana transaction on any platform twitter farcaster natively i think something that is there are 2 themes that would be really exciting 1 is this notion of obviously composable social graph by attaching these wallets to your farcaster profile farcaster knows who you are but then also any other application including crypto twitter another salon application can know who you are so i think that's kind of like a theme or a prompt and then the second one and that we talked about with drip is micropayments right like the ability just to execute transactions at a higher velocity i think something along the line of tipping which i know is huge on farcaster through dgent etcetera would love to lean into that in a salon and native way and nick and i are happy to lead the charge here
yeah so if you're a dev who wants to do some development on solana come talk to these guys and get working that'd be amazing adrian what other questions did you have before we wrap up and we'd love to have you guys come on like on a maybe a regular basis maybe once a month you can pop by give us some updates on anything related to solana and farcaster like that connection and try to start to drive a little bit more folks towards attaching their solana wallet let's start there let's see if we get that number increase

you know 2 of the ecosystem founders you know to to join for that and i'm gonna let them do most of talking because they're way closer to it than i am right and that's gonna be the case in every single vertical you know that we support at the salon foundation is the builders are always gonna be more knowledgeable closer to the front know what's going on and and and better able to speak to the why
and we'd love that too if you wanna you know maybe once a month we have a solana focused segment like this and you bring a builder and especially if they're do if they're building on farcaster with solana

on the paradigm of just like optimizing the network and getting the cost of of minting in this case creator tokens and distributing them to people in their different tribes is the use case that solana is pioneering for for him
i'd really you know what bill i i should reach out to bill and tell him to put together a solana tribe tribe for cast out via you know i think like there's something there i'll have to reach out to him and just say hey you should play and grab grab a few other people from that ecosystem would be really fun this has been awesome adrienne anything else before we we wrap
