it's all the problem too it it solves a constant problem and i said this to dan that we have as content creators in webcast which is that you want to be able to show your content and also incentivize incentivize mints at the same time and like we were forced into this pigeonhole for a while where you had to basically choose between am i gonna put a clip till i cook people on the content and then follow-up with the mint and hope that they're still paying attention they're not or or post or post the pods frame where they can see your nice thumbnail and mint from frame but they probably won't watch your content so it's like fuck like you shouldn't have to choose between
right
you know making fans of your content and getting people to mint your content to collect it

with the v two spec is it impossible to have more than one button on that first frame like is it possible to have some sort of a hybrid between v 1 and v 2 where you had a button that says view episode and another button that says mint and the mint button just opens the mint module right away whereas the view would pop up the v two frame is that a possibility or is it not built that way
to my knowledge it's it's only the single button eric and our team has been more in the weeds on the on the frame side of things but yeah i believe that is the current implementation
that would be cool if you could do some kind of a hybrid like that i don't know if it's
i think it's only a one button to open yeah right now whereas the other frames the frames v one you could have up to 4 buttons but i think when you're opening up in mini app there's only like basically it's just an open open app button
maybe there's technical reasons why that's not possible but it seems like it'd be cool to have that best of both worlds and let the user choose whether they wanna do a v one integration or or not integration but a v one action or or a v two action would be pretty pretty neat that'd be great flexibility
and i think even just like media or content consumption in a frame is like uncharted territory yeah i'm kinda one of the first to try to tackle that so yeah the the merkel team has been very receptive also to having a dialogue and and getting feedback so i think they're pretty much thinking about how to handle it so we'll see where it goes
i mean the fact that you can watch a youtube video right in the frame is still amazing pretty wild

when you drop in links to youtube it will allow you to watch them right within the frame so we do have a couple of ways of delivering yeah different content within within farcaster which i think is pretty cool
i was gonna cast at one point and i still might like imagine if you could have a youtube like a version of youtube where people could watch your content and if they're liking it they could pause it and collect the content to support you you know all in the youtube ui and it's like well they can and it's called
again it's called pods yeah it's perfect it's really perfect and i also like that you're getting the views on youtube because that helps from a creator perspective it's helping to drive that number and those statistics there so that's been the challenge for us when we're looking at streaming and yes there's some native streaming now on warpcast but it doesn't it's a little tricky to integrate into streamyard and then also you lose sort of that focus so eventually we'll we'll get there we'll get it figured out but we've been talking about a v2 app for gm forecaster that would include the live stream of the of youtube so yeah it's
it's venturing a lot about is the way we position ourselves is kind of it's not instead of but it's like yes and so you know we're probably never gonna deliver quite as good of a video experience as a as a youtube so you know almost like patreon did back in the day it's like we're not trying to cannibalize kind of your existing distribution mechanisms it's like how can we augment that and add additional streams of revenue and opportunities to engage your your audience and your collectors
yeah the youtube embed is interesting because similar to professor we resisted moving to pods for the longest time because one of the biggest differentiators of 0 pod was that it was a video podcast so it's like we want it to be on chain and and zuora was was doing a good job of of like helping us to you know pretty pretty large videos on chain and and so it was working for the first like 1st season but the reality was is like we were like we're not going to move to pods because then people will just be able to listen to it and that's fine but like they're going to miss all these visual elements and then when when i sort of i don't remember how i found out that you guys were doing the youtube implementation i think it was actually in our onboarding call and you were like yeah actually this is brand new and at first i i thought of it as like okay well that's a pretty good stopgap measure you know until they can allow us to have the videos on chain and then over time over the past like 4 months i've started to realize like it's not really a stopgap measure it is actually better in some ways because it does help you to grow your web 2 following as well and then cross pollinate a little bit between your on chain and your off chain collectors so in some ways it's actually better yeah
yeah that you frame it that way because we very much intended for it to be a stop gap for people like professor that

yeah yeah but i i don't know i i guess the more we're thinking about it and we're kind of like it is kinda kicking off this flywheel where we're then driving people to youtube and so you know tldr we'll we'll see where that evolves
it's it's been having a positive uptick on my views for sure on on youtube because we don't really concentrate on web 2 distribution really at all but we we're now driving some of that through our on chain lean in which is great
and we're hearing that more and more we did have or we still do have much more ambitious plans for video but like again we'll we'll see where it goes and you know the name of the game of startups is we have a near infinite number of things we could be working on so it's a game

there we go lovely perfect yeah i wanted to talk about boosts you mentioned it todie i haven't experimented with this yet i know this has been super successful for you can you talk about dan what is a boost how did it come about and then todie can you talk about like your use of it and and how you're using that to to help your distribution

so so boost is a a company as well as kind of like a a verb so it was kind of like the way we started to approach kind of like on chain sponsorships so you know if tony has an episode about gadoopy you know maybe in order to engage that community you could actually use some gadoopy to incentivize participation and collecting of that episode so you know we've been experimenting with some of the stuff i you know i know adam levy of blueprint was kind of pioneered a lot of these ideas and and tony and 0 pod have been going through that program so there was like layer 3 was like a distribution mechanism that we had kinda leaned into and then also boost we ended up building that into the product proper so like natively on pods you can it's actually permissionless so anybody can sponsor a particular episode so you can add a a token incentive and then by collecting the episode you can effectively think of it as like a rebate so you know if the episode costs like whatever $2 then maybe you get 80% of that back in whatever token is being used to sponsor it so that's kind of the the high level and and tony i'm sure can speak to it more
yeah like tony you have for this episode i just logged in to make sure i could see it earn 76% back in clinker when you collect it so what does that mean to a collector
so it just means if you you collect that piece then you immediately get a rebate a rebate from boost.xyz for that amount of clinker which i think is like it says 75% of whatever the cost of the platform fee is yeah it's just
so depending on how many episodes you picked up would depend on what you get back from and and you're getting it back in that token you're getting it back in clanker so for in this case but you can do any kind of token well not any but many different types of tokens
yeah and you can add and stack them so it's too bad that it might i had 2 2 boosts on this episode 1 in clankr and 1 in gadoopy and you have to set them up separately on on boost dot xyz and i tried to line them up so they would both be like similar amounts of claims but it just so happens that all of the gudupi's been claimed and there's like 5 5 clanker claims left so that's why it's only showing clanker but yesterday if you looked it would have said 80% back in clanker and and gudupi gudupi oh nice that's because i was telling jan about it and jan and jan was like oh i'll i'll donate some some gudupi then for the for the boost which is cool it's a great way for him to sort of engage it's it's really cool for you know for meme coins in particular and those types of projects because it distribution is always the hard part for them like getting getting your coin out to a lot more wallets and not having like a concentrated ownership is is a real existential threat for a lot of meme coins so it's kind of like a win for them it's a win for creators because it gives eyeballs on your content and gives people incentive to collect it it also like helps you to trend so if you if you do it then you get a lot of mints from the boosted content then you're you're trending on pause and you're trending on mint.fund and other places that people might track things that are happening on chains so you get you know for every you know a 100 mints that you might get through your boost hopefully you're gonna get like a certain percentage of organic people who just see your content and actually you know watch it so it's just a really great you know attention getter or you know cut new customer acquisition strategy and as as dan said like all credit to adam levy and the blueprint program there were like that was a big emphasis of the program at least in this cohort it was like teaching us how to experiment with with these different things and and so it's yeah i i encourage all creators to to mess around with it it's really dan and the team at pods have made it really easy too like you can do it on the boost site and it's a bit more technical but if you do it on the pods site for a very simple a very simple top up it's i mean you click one button and you can you can boost it you can even boost someone else's content like you said so i could go in and boost after this episode goes live i could go and put a boost on it just to you know to get more people to go live
that was gonna be my question because it looked to me when i look at my dashboard that somebody else could add a boost besides me but i wasn't positive so that is possible

of it like kind of web three native sponsorship and and to double click on something that tony said that i i left out of my explanation is it's actually great for the sponsors as well because they are getting that distribution and we've seen that you know those tokens will proliferate and and oftentimes people will hold hold those tokens and start participating in those communities so it actually is like a it's beneficial to both parties both the the creator the collector and kind of the sponsor so it's kinda well
just think of your think of your own self like if you're going in you're minting something and you're getting a bonus in a token that maybe you didn't own before like could you be are you gonna go like run to uniswap and swap for $2 of usdc or eth or are you just gonna hold it and see what happens you know so it actually kind of creates these hodlers that you might not otherwise get from people who are buying for purely speculative reasons so that's kind of like a secret secret sauce of of these boosts exactly
i love that i love that and i was yeah cause we haven't played with this yet we were going to do it right on our first one but cast out wasn't available cause i was going to use that token first but this gives us a lot of opportunity when we're working with sponsors to give them another sort of method to promote themselves through this but i love that anyone can just come in and sponsor the episode i think that is really cool
i'm glad you mentioned casto because that's another piece of another element here too that we've been experimenting with and i was experimenting with this even before blueprint is that i clanked i clanked a fan token for 0 pod called dollar fan 0 pod and we were doing some experiments even before blueprint with doing some some boosts in that token and you know we also have like my my partner jack who does content with us has a a clanker called must and you know we we're we're gonna use that as well-to-do some boosting so if you have your own token your own fan token it actually makes it even easier because like you can just kind of like have this yeah fly this self referential flywheel where you're you know giving people these tokens and

also helps you just lean into the inherent distribution advantages of erc twenties that nfts can't really compete with that well so because all of our content is not like fraction fractionalized it's these are just nfts that you can own and like there's a really cool you know supporting people that you love element of buying an nft that is that is just purely content like a patronage side of things but if you can also bring in like a little bit of speculation have people sort of feeling like they own a a fraction of of what you're doing you you can just reach so many more people you can have a 1,000 holders of your token or of your partner's token versus like you know a 100 a 100 people who collect your nft or whatever

sure so in terms of starting your own maybe not a lot of people know this but we can kinda handle the like the web too or like the trad part as well as the onshape native part so we can kinda behave like a like a host or a syndicator like a anchor or a transistor or a libsyn or buzzsprout or any of those so we can handle kind of in the same tool where you're you're publishing your content on chain we can push that out to the the spotify's and the apple podcasts of the world so especially for net new podcasts that's easier to do something like 2 thirds of our existing creators are coming in with existing podcasts so you know part of our focus too is like meeting those creators where they're at and kind of like i said being like a yes and so we'll handle like the on chain part and kind of leave your existing workflow untouched so we can we can pull from your rss feed and kind of in just 2 clicks allow you to tokenize that and put it on chain

and for those who don't know like once it becomes an erc 20 you can no longer collect it it doesn't stay open forever or for any time
