0:29Speaker 1

good morning thanksgiving was lovely had a nice long weekend with family may you and

0:37Speaker 0

i it was it was very quiet we had a very chill vibe just my son and my mom and went out to dinner so we don't have to clean up you know this is the way i like to roll that's smart anything that doesn't involve me having to do dishes i'm in i woke up i oh go ahead

0:57Speaker 1

i said i woke up friday morning after the holiday and i just my my first thought was thank god i don't have to livestream a farcaster news show i still a really good move

1:10Speaker 0

just for from this point forward if we continue to do this forever we're taking friday after thanksgiving off it was definitely a good move we needed the i needed the break and i was staying at family's house so like there were no extra room like i don't even know where i

1:24Speaker 1

would have gone to find

1:25Speaker 0

it would have been interesting could i have the whole family behind you it would have been they could have been your backdrop it would have been really funny like the live podcast from adrian's house what if it's really fun i do wanna show my hopefully this will show there we go my cool cat my cool cat toy came in the mail so congrats to the cool cats with their macy's day parade balloon and that was pretty awesome to see so little a little win for web 3 overall and we have to explain our backgrounds so let's start with that

2:03Speaker 0

you asked pixel what are these circles what's the relationship between the center person and the surrounding people i'm loving them but i'm curious what the meaning behind it is and then vincent pixel replied it's the people you hang out most with on farcaster the closer the pfp is to you the more you interact with them by the way here's yours and then he also shared mine as well and this is sort of i've seen this on twitter before with the twitter circles and i always love seeing like who i interact with most and of course there you are i have to slide over mine is very foxy and mannish it's like foxes with noggles is pretty much my vibe so perfect i'm perfect for the fennec fox release

2:46Speaker 1

it is

2:47Speaker 0

how what did you think of yours

2:48Speaker 1

it's so cool i love it obviously i saw a bunch of the them popping up on my feed and i was assuming it had something to do with relationships but i was kind of curious exactly what it meant and vincent pixel so kind to just quickly make them for everybody on demand thank you pixel i know thanks pixel and i've seen lists of like people i interact with a lot but being able to kind of see it visually in this beautiful purple background i love it and i think it's really cool not seeing words and just seeing people's pfps and i you know you immediately know who they are and can recognizing even when they're just kind of low res

3:30Speaker 0

i was thinking that too it was like i know who all these pfps are it's like i have this see this blue circle it's just a blue circle i know exactly who that is that's zach that blue circle it's zach it's just funny that like i know exactly who everyone is although somebody changed their over here and i'm not sure who that is anymore but i know i know who it is but it's just like i have to go double check now but it is yeah it's funny like this one right here is like just geometric shapes hi wig i know exactly who that is it's really kinda funny

4:04Speaker 1

i'm gonna point out i see mac i see carlos i see k mac i see cazzie ivy ben phil

4:12Speaker 0

romper room would that do you remember i don't know you might be too young romper room which she had like the little magic mirror and she'd say your name and you just were hoping she'd say your name yeah it's really really fun my inner circle is very far castry and then the next circle starts to add a lot more people and then like my outer circle has this good combo of like you know where i've met these folks but a lot of them that inner circle is mostly people i know from barcaster so it's kinda fun that you know that's where my vibe is now and there's dan too that show dan yeah and there's dan

4:52Speaker 1

very cool and if you look and i know you know you and i are connected very closely not surprising

4:59Speaker 0

yep yep right there k right there and she's right there that's perfect alright moving on we have also introducing farcaster profile insights from edriq a tool designed to help you get a daily overview of your profiles activities engagement

5:20Speaker 0

farcaster so very similar i think you know these kind of insights are what allow for some of this visual pop so you can look at bill the bid biddler app dot app slash insights and you can find out your insights for by the profile profile name i love all these like data analysis i think they're really fun but they can get like a little you can kinda like end up down these rabbit holes for a while focusing on all the data and i just realized i was missing i'm missing something i've gotta grab right now and that's outcasters i haven't even talked about outcasters yet oh my goodness because i actually helped to do the outcasters this week and for some reason i did not have the link up i think i was neglecting my my outcasters

6:15Speaker 0

duties here but it was really really fun i enjoyed it so much let me just pull this up really quick hold on one second sorry about this i normally have everything ready to go and i slacked up a little bit so i'll move on and come back to this dan did an ama which he has not done in a while and this is on the coming up to the next founder's ama which is have you heard

6:43Speaker 1

i think it's 1 biology it is biology biology srinivasan yes

6:47Speaker 0

yes it is biology that's happening tomorrow

6:50Speaker 1

yeah so we called it

6:52Speaker 0

yeah totally called it here first call it we did call it we did call it yeah so balaji will be doing an ama tomorrow and dan did a quick little ama for us on on what was it just a few days ago i'm afraid it was friday so i there were some you know some fun questions that were answered i loved the what are your favorite emerging consumer crypto apps besides the obvious and then reveal preference zuora interface damo other stuff i find interesting nouns space paint and farcaster app experiments which i thought was really fun lots of like good answers here quick things i'm trying to remember what i even asked i can't remember what i asked now but i thought it was a lot of discussion around and things like that were there anything that jumped out at you that you saw that were like interesting answers or questions or anything like that

7:54Speaker 1

i don't recall anything that popped out too much

7:58Speaker 0

no nothing this time yeah

7:59Speaker 1

on the dan one

8:01Speaker 0

a lot of it was and i love that i

8:02Speaker 1

love that he word

8:04Speaker 0

yeah go ahead

8:05Speaker 1

i love that everybody does them and you know you kinda have the formal ones and you have the celebrities doing amas but you have people will do dewofi did one recently and then samantha followed where he said i hit 2,000 followers ama ask me anything

8:22Speaker 0

ask me anything

8:23Speaker 1

people have fun with amas

8:25Speaker 0

just for fun i love it i love it just for fun ama those are always good i love it when people are like i'm at the airport ama just like yeah with whatever you got i always try to i always try and come up with a question on some of those because it can be really really fun and i'd love to know from the chat is there any questions that you've always wanted to ask dan that you haven't asked yet pop them in the chat alright moving on oh i know what i wanted to talk about here this was really fun k mac or k mac b had asked does gm forecasters support a club adrian and nownish proff soccer channel segment each monday and then things got interesting so yeah so then it went on from there a little discussion about the future vision and having a sportscaster and i said we're assembling a team and then there was a discussion of the olympics coming up and we could have some casters in the paris region doing some live reporting so things have got a little off the rails there but some future thinking about gm farcaster and i did think it was it it could be interesting to do a little roundup of the sports channels because i'm not really following any of them i realized that as i was reading this question and i'm like i don't have a soccer club that i follow it's just not our football club and i have gotten a little bit off my my sports game since tom brady retired for real you know the last time so i've kind of gotten a little little away from things but what do you think like what were your thoughts on this this is kind of a fun fun little discussion we were having

10:20Speaker 1

yeah i'm also not a huge i'm just not a huge kind of professional sports watcher freaking love the soccer channel and the amount of conversation that happens about it's like there's 2 themes 1 is the name is it soccer or football yes and then 2 the you know just so many passionate people who really want that channel to to take off so i'm i'm a i'm a lurker i'm a lurker in in the soccer channel

10:50Speaker 0

i am as well

10:51Speaker 1

and i love the idea i'm so open to it i love the idea i

10:55Speaker 0

think the soccer channel is interesting to me because of the discussion of soccer or football like the name just a star and the argument of the name like i think that is the most amusing part of this of the channel

11:06Speaker 1

i'm team football i i will put my vote on on football but i'm a globe i'm a citizen of the globe and and i love the idea i'm so yeah i'm so open to the idea of having guest guests who can come on our show and do you know the the few minute updates on what's happening in in a specific channel whether that's sports or or other

11:28Speaker 0

definitely i think that'd be really fun and we talked about this from the beginning and this is kinda like how we're sort of evolving as we go is that we were talking about like having people come on and even do like a 5 minutes about x y z like what it could be a founder coming on and talking about what they're founding that's you know a new farcaster app or something like that but it also could just be yeah those who are you know more into the sports channels giving us a little rundown we have our little a little sportscaster and it's and then and then we'll bring in somebody to do the weather or see if al roker's around he's available hey al we have we have a we have an idea for you i know you're looking for something new so we'll we'll see how it goes we you know you never know where we're going with this but i did find it kind of fun to think about you know sort of the different experiments we can do but i think the a little roundup of the sports channel's not a bad idea at all moving on i did like nonlinear had a work warp cast shower thought mint with warps could be to warp cast what tweet ads are to twitter and post ads are to ig an in feed native ad format that companies pay merkle for because the cta is minting it'd be relatively easy to measure roi ad spots could be 1 times 24 hours and use an auction mechanism for price discovery i thought this was really an interesting idea and i i'd love to see that experiment especially for the in app warps like being able to mint with warps have that be some sort of paid mint i think that's a really interesting idea so i'd love to see an experiment around that for sure what what are your thoughts on that

13:21Speaker 1

i think i need to understand a little bit more i'm curious how is that you know it's like how is it you gotta if when we're bringing in ads how is it good for the advertiser how is it good for the brand how is it good for me as a user right how is it good for merkle workcast so the way you're seeing is that brands are paying to show up in our feed offering a mint

13:43Speaker 0

as a mint right so it's not a just an ad so the ad is actually an nft so i don't know i don't know it's interesting though it's like i don't know if i'd like it i don't know if it'll work i'm not sure the revenue generation part of it but i think it's an interesting way to experiment and it's and same thing with sort of what we're doing here and you know and it is an experiment of putting our recordings out as mints as well and they're free mints but there are protocol rewards involved in that so there's a lot of different ways to to think about it so i don't know i don't know it's interesting like would we do that we might depending on what the cost was right yeah we might throw something out there yeah like as a special mint or something i don't know so people

14:33Speaker 1

are very sensitive right we're very sensitive about being advertised to and about brands polluting our very organic space of kind of people to people conversation and yet the reality is a lot of us own brands we we do interact with brands so there's there's you know it's it's inevitable and it's yeah i don't have i don't have strong opinions right now but it'll be i yeah

14:59Speaker 0

and i think yeah go ahead

15:01Speaker 1

i was just gonna say one thing i love that this is you know when we talk about why do i love farcaster and kind of the concept of permissionless innovation you just have all these people who are thinking about farcaster and how to make money for merkel and for farcast while

15:20Speaker 0

they're in the shower for no other reason except it's just

15:22Speaker 1

on their minds and people around the world so keep it up people

15:26Speaker 0

yeah i think that i mean that's a great point that's a really good point that in this this kind of these are things i think about too like things will pop at you know me that have nothing to do with what we're specifically doing but just more like about oh wouldn't that be cool if farcaster had this or that or that would be a great way for them to generate you know just it's funny how when you're in this ecosystem you really wanted to succeed so you're always kinda thinking about how can i contribute to that which is really different i don't think about how can i make twitter a better place

15:56Speaker 1

but it may have in the beginning right in the beginning of twitter when there were open apis when you could build on top of it you know before everything got got shut down and the promise of a protocol is it won't you know and and and by coding that it doesn't so yeah the the feeling of ownership and is is you know the tiny tiny tiny fractional ownership but that you can you know that it's i think that's what it's

16:24Speaker 0

just special i haven't read the oh i don't think it's come out yet there's a book i think it hasn't come out yet it's read write owned by i think it's chris dixon from a 12z coming out i think it's soon and i think that's an interesting way to think about it and i think you're tapping into exactly that part of it is that we feel like we own a little piece of this even if we're not you know merkel we still own a piece of this and we have some responsibility to to help it you know survive and grow and all that so really yeah really kind of interesting there was a there was a i think it was arjan yeah said i would love for farcaster to be a place that's ad free at least in the way that they don't mine our personal data yes i would agree with that like if something like this should be like more yeah not tied to i'm gonna see this nft you're gonna see that one yet although that might there might be something to that you know there's always you know that kind of but that could even be based on on chain on chain data right so it could be showing me you know nownishments and it could be showing you some foxy ones i don't know so could be something like that but that's philosophy yeah it's philosoph philosophical philosophical mince instead but yeah that's an interesting interesting point because i do it does it is part of it is like i don't mind paying for storage when i get when i have to eventually because i'm not getting hit with ads like left and right so that makes me you know okay with it so i do agree that that's definitely something to consider

18:15Speaker 0

to do yes we're i think we are certainly invested in this yeah for sure absolutely it's very different than other types of platforms okay moving on and speaking of other platforms this is funny i don't know if you saw this adrianne but the mole made it to the memes giving contest over on twitter for the noun square and i thought that was hilarious when i came across that just organically and related to that little bit of news we had vitalik on asking noob question why are nouns called nouns does each one have a particular noun in english or some other language attached so this made everybody in nouns go vitalik's here everybody everybody behave it's like you know you're like like oh my god company's coming over get the out clean the house clean up the house clean the house vitalik's here everybody look lively it was really kinda funny

19:23Speaker 1

were you surprised were you surprised vitalik didn't know about nouns know more about nouns

19:27Speaker 0

i mean he kinda knows about it i mean i know he's seen us around but he doesn't really you know he hasn't participated in any way so not that surprised but i was surprised to see the question and that it was about the name rather than like the mechanic or something funky we're doing or you know that was that was kinda odd but it was and it was really funny seeing the answers because we had a lot of people like i think the people who were probably best to answer the question got nervous

20:00Speaker 0

so we're all kind of like wait a minute what's happening and then you saw all these other answers coming in and it was kind of funny but just so you know yeah nouns every every nft in the collection is a person place or thing so it's really not that overly complicated but it related to sort of you know the flow of pronouns and nouns and you know just that's what they are so don't overthink it there are layers to it but it doesn't have to be overthought are you getting a picture that you're not us what was that no no no

20:37Speaker 1

something about left pronouns right has nouns

20:40Speaker 0

yes yes i know there is something in the thread about yeah the left has pronouns and the right has nouns which i didn't agree with that part of it that's not really it so it was it's more just this they are people place and things so that's all yeah i get to everything

20:58Speaker 1

but take your culture war take your culture war somewhere else yeah

21:01Speaker 0

we don't have time we just have cute little glasses and yeah we just hang out it's all good

21:06Speaker 1

not interested in we

21:07Speaker 0

also have things like you know pride accessories and stuff like that so it's not very yeah it's pretty inclusive

21:15Speaker 0

alright so oh yes i'd pick a you'd pick a pirate and a poet okay there we go the pirate pirate ship is one of my favorite nouns heads they're pretty cute alright we had a few more things to get through but i do wanna make sure that we mention that tonight if you are in new york city come to friendsgiving to meet some farcaster friends and you can find that on ted's the information on ted's farcaster profile page and i'm jealous because you're going

21:50Speaker 1

i will be there i'm so sorry in the flesh

21:54Speaker 0

so much fomo i think that was we had a bunch of other things that we're gonna pop into our things we didn't get to oh let me get to one more quick where was it

22:10Speaker 0

hold on one more quick thing had posted this this fun little where have you lived kind of thing on github so this has been fun to see everyone's where they've been in the us there's also one for europe so we didn't leave you all out and you kinda chose like how much you've traveled where you've lived where you've stayed all those kind of fun things so if you're looking for something fun to just play around with there you go and anything else that i forgot to cover we will cover outcasters on wednesday i had a blast being the curator but i for some reason forgot to pull it up on my screen so we will focus on that on wednesday and i'll show you you what we did there but it was a lot of fun and i appreciate ghostlinks for letting me be the guest curator this week it was a lot of fun yeah i

22:59Speaker 1

can't wait to dig into that with you
