i generally feel like it doesn't matter what i think because look at where the trends are going so like everything's gonna become public and whatnot i only wish they would just give us a freaking nft tab like if they didn't take that away three years ago then you know but whatever so i have some personal opinions i don't love it to be honest like i don't personally love it but i also feel like people will like it people love like gamification of things so it's you know like sure have some like you know have some fun so yeah it's almost like i i kinda think my personal opinions don't always matter

man so i started the the mint like i started writing code on sunday after saturday afternoon but but there's a lot of context here right so i have this harmonybot mini app i have a lot of building blocks already for churning out mints on always you know gives me a playfully hard time about how like whenever there's some new silo or monad like i'm there with the minting frame i have the framework already but anyway i saw warplets i was like hey this could be really cool but i really wanted to make it consistent and so until i nailed that i spent a few hours got it consistent and then i was like okay this looks pretty good tried a few test warplits they looked good i had so many other ideas that could have made the thing more complex traits i was pitching it to my wife on sunday night i was like hey you know like what if we added traits based on x y and z or like all these other things ultimately i decided i i casted sunday night like hey who's who wants to try something my favorite response was from horse facts who said down to clown maybe like two or three people replied to that so i posted the link and then there was no going back so that's sort of like the the twenty four hours that led to it i think you both know there's so much more context behind that there's our wallet which is the warplet which became this mascot that dan did that everyone loves to hate on then he

so it was like a nice convergence of a lot of things and i think a lot of right place right time did i think sunday night was the right time not at all and so yeah that was it that's the the quick story

yeah okay i i'll yap a little bit here because i think what's really interesting is this goes back to to botternaut right like the the the building blocks have been stacking since then so for those who don't know botternaut was probably like my first breakout it was a frame back then it was my first breakout frame that that did decent numbers within the forecaster community
we we highlighted it here often we would check people's like live
it was super fun it was like it had utility for some people but it was also just meant to be fun i mean i think you all remember the tags some of them were silly some of the some people got labeled you know popular shit casters and it it was meant to be a fun way but still you know kind of discern who's up to weird things on the timeline and who's being genuine but anyway the way that worked was we'd pull in people's casts feed it to an llm and then classify it and then use a frame to make it interesting and and playful and to me that was like that first taste of oh okay like what can you do with with this social data here's this one you know utility but then if we go even further back beyond vadernaut beat before i was very active on farcaster i've always been into like remixing art you know blipmap from dom hoffman and kinda like the loot universe is what pulled me into into crypto i did you know with with some pixel artists and derivatives there and so that's sort of then what became harmonybot which is hey how do i combine social people's social data that's really easy to get from farcaster via tools like maynard and then turn that into art so the first experiments with harmonybot were like pixel art based on your what you would cast then i did faces of farcaster which would take your profile picture turn it into an on chain piece of art that was made up of the old farcaster arch r i p
so i
have all these pieces for pulling in people's forecaster profile data their casts and then turning it into images and so then what i had to build out for this was okay how do we turn them into warplits that all that all look cohesive if we're gonna make a collection and you've seen probably there are some weird ones where things got a little hairy with the pipeline generation but all it's doing is it's taking your pfp
it's then analyzing it for what would make good warbler traits and then using nano by nana plus the original warbler to generate a new warbler that looks like you and that's why you know when you do i think you said the the the cast out account it got a rather plain one when you have like just i don't i i think it's like a lot of purple in the cast out image yeah so it's like hey look
like this should be
a purple warbler and that's what you end up with i think one that i feel bad about was also like tim tldr just got one that looks very similar the clinker one also yeah and yeah that's sort of how it works but

yeah i have sunday sunday night and monday night were probably the most chaotic because i was just scrambling to get things working but there were a couple of folks who were extremely helpful in in dms and getting it all stabilized had to upgrade a lot of my accounts to make sure that everything worked but once that got to a good place i i really wanted

yeah exactly alright consume my credit credits quickly but i really wanted it to get to a point where people who love forecasts or people who hang out who hang out there could mint without any issues and without having to like go through bots and so you know the whole supply conversation it never mattered to me if it meant like people who loved warplits who even like knew what a warplit was from the beginning weren't gonna get one i wasn't going to stop things until i had felt that i had given those people a good enough chance to to try and get one
and you had to pause a couple times there were some things that were on your end like you mentioned and then there was like we broke farcaster for a little bit so there was that yeah there was like a few different things happening and you had to keep pausing it and so it wasn't like some people were taking that differently but it was just like you need to deposit so that because things were breaking and you had to get them
back on track

yeah same thing i i had a post yesterday about the forecaster pro thing it wasn't me trying to collude with merkel you know to to get more people to become pro users i was just like you know what i doubt people will massively convert to pro and that will let me catch up on things and right that didn't matter apparently we had all time high for pro subscriptions or daos so jokes about
it that was good thinking and logical and this was not logical people went a little a little wacky this

like i said i even upgraded our cast out one just because i was like i really wanna make sure it gets one and then you know it was it was fine but it has one and then now i was like okay well now i can merge it with other things and like we can turn it into something cute this was the cast that you were talking about and i did want to ask you about this because there were some really good learnings here so i'm just gonna read it and then we can kind of dive in something for fc devs to consider get your mints by minimum money held in wallet everyone wins merkle wants more funded wallets devs benefit from more dry powder not concentrated i've seen a lot of people commenting how we should have charged more for mints instead of routing all that money to merkle via pro subs coulda woulda shoulda but also don't think warplets go as wide as they did with a higher mid price so no point speculating that i think you might be true true there the pro rack was a decision i had to make to try and slow down the massive spike in traffic that brought this main mid site down and farcaster on a sunday night didn't think the conversion rate would be that high and after reflecting on it a bit i think it's a net positive for that money to flow into the ecosystem how it's dispersed isn't up to me but hopefully it goes into wallets that then spend it on other dev projects which i wish it but i wish it hit the wallets in the ecosystem faster that got me thinking how could i have achieved a similar effect without locking the money up in merkle rewards and maybe requiring the wallet to hold a certain amount of eth might have been a better stop gap and money would have been more instantly spendable on other apps in the ecosystem i wouldn't have charged more because the low mint fee was key to the virality methinks but i would have had a signal that this person is ready and willing to spend before i use my own money to generate them image that's all the pro sub requirement was really and if more wallets keep a constant balance of even something as small as $10 we have more viral moments like that and i think that was some great points there about thinking about like the ways in which to like create qualified folks or whatever or to to find a way to slowly scale something in other ways besides just using pro i think that was a good thought process there so i liked those points and i think they were you know really helpful to other devs who might be trying to create something out there in terms of how to approach this what other learnings have you had this week from all this craziness i'm sure there's been many that you want to share
yeah let's see well i think one one reflection for me that is also sort of like a validation of a of a thesis slash slash principle that i have is having fun is massively underrated i for those who don't know i don't do farcaster stuff full time i'm not a crypto person full time i have a non crypto like b to b construction software company that i run outside of farcaster and so i go to farcaster as a as a creative outlet as a way to do freaky stuff like warplets and you know you see all this discourse over creator coins and on the base app that's sort of the hypothesis is you know coin everything make creators rich with their creator coins and look there's a lot to explore there i think on sunday night and monday we sort of proved there's another side of this which is just make fun interesting experiments bring nfts back like that has always been one of my mos with with harmonybot is like i still believe in in nfts in in art in in fungible tokens non fungible tokens and i think we proved like we had an all time high day on farcaster for people trying to mint this creepy creature sure was there speculation probably but you know there's speculation around crater coins too like that is the space that we're in so i think that's one big learning for me maybe for the ecosystem too right it's like just have fun and i think with farcaster we're uniquely positioned for that because of many apps because of of the wallets and how seamless it all is now i think there's so many things that had to go right on sunday night for this to happen and and thankfully it was all there had awesome support from the merkel team i mean on sunday night horse facts was dm ing me showing me i wasn't even aware of the volume on opensea and i got a screenshot and he was like slook already 7 eth in volume i hope you have your creator fees on i didn't i didn't think anyone would be trading these things

yeah i i edited it and yeah so that's one learning right like i think the other thing is like you just don't know what might work but i also don't think you here's another big piece of advice that i that i live by it's like you just gotta ship it like you gotta have like the get the get the important parts right which whenever i do a mini app it's you know connect like do do the primary flow quickly with big buttons i strongly agree with dan on that like the primary flow has to just be big buttons like no tons of menus everywhere get people to mint as quickly as possible or whatever thing you want to do and then make it shareable and personal right people love sharing their own version of whatever they did on the timeline and and it propagates and then people click the link spend money and it rinse and repeat and i think that's a really cool cycle but let's have more fun like it clearly works
yeah and i and i think the the personalization was the big thing it's like you now have a collection of whatever it's gonna end up 40,000 or whatever they're all very different from each other like but they have a similar vibe but there's some crazy ones out there like there's some really like i saw multiple batman's

yeah the multiples there it was really funny like i'm like what is going on there's like a lot of really funky ones in there that becomes like it starts to get your create creative you know juices flowing of like okay what could we what else could we do with this could these be characters in something could they and then and people are running with that and animating them and doing all these things and it's like it's really it gets the fun builds on top of
each other i i've been a huge like proponent of of personalized ai slop so to speak right i saw it with cases of broadcaster that was an ai but that was oh people plug in their pfp and they like some variant of it and they will share it and they will mint it for a small fee and then you saw what sora did you have these like personalized videos these cameos and people enjoyed putting themselves in weird situations and then sharing it and i think we're you know we're seeing it with warpedbooks a little bit it's like hey that looks like my pfp it's not quite but but i can recognize myself and then i can put in put myself in scenes with friends and and share it and and i think that's really cool because this is the unofficial forecaster mascot right and so if we can get that out there i think it's just great for the ecosystem sorry to everyone who hates the mascot but it's i think now on chain
