yeah to be honest you know i've been thinking about you know like kind of the underlying desires you know that that kind of like fueling this whole like deejunk phase i quit my job like more or less end of november and then i was gonna start doing something of my own and then basically i was gonna do something called channels dot fun which was gonna take the idea of forecaster channels but essentially put like a frontex spin on it where you could kinda buy into a channel and invest in a channel and things like that but then yeah the whole meme craze started in in you know the whole djen channel and you know like what you know i guess i think i saw your video where you were kind of like asking you know what's kind of the utility or like you know what's you know what is this is this just kinda like paper money like funny money i i don't know i've been thinking about it a lot you know and it's kinda like for one of the bigger things are probably just the whole community aspect there's a lot of utility and just people meeting up talking to each other i don't know i just find like there's something there there's something deeper within all of this and i kinda think back to like other other eras or other things like let's say like facebook you could probably boil it down to like you know making a site where you upload a photo and share it with your friends and you know at first you know when i told especially like my parents or like older people and stuff like that they'd kinda be like well what's the utility in that like i i don't get it like i could just go and talk you know pick up the phone and talk with with my friends whenever i want to or i could just meet them i don't really get the utility in that and then you know obviously the advertisers came in they got built out and then i also remember something with like bill gates he was on like a late night talk show and he was like computers weren't like super you know just like they weren't all over the place and i i forget who the host was but he was kinda like asking you know bill gates like well what's the whole point of this computer like why do i need one in my house

yeah yeah people didn't really like realize like what do i need this whole internet thing okay so i have a computer but why do i need this internet thing for and he was telling them that well you know you could listen to like a baseball game on the on the computer and then the host was like well haven't you heard of the radio and then like everyone everyone kinda like laughed in the audience and he was like well well you know there's one like little nuance you can actually like save the stream and you could download it and put it on your computer he's like well you know haven't you heard of a tape recorder and then everyone laughed and so it seems so far fetched like like this exam i don't know if maybe that was like a sketch maybe they kinda scripted that or not but it seemed like it was so hard to kinda like come up with a useful example for a computer which was like you know huge innovation and so like i feel like there's something like that happening now with degen there is some kinda like underlying desire that people want fulfilled and one of those desires i kinda feel like so now tying it back you know what's the utility i've been thinking about that aspect and i kinda think of like youtube let's say so i think youtube really realized that the content creators are really what's fueling the platform so like if you have a youtube you know channel you should probably get part of the revenue of of what youtube is making and then that sort of model has kinda gone to like medium and some like other places and even reddit now is offering like a special program for people that have like a lot of karma you can get a like a payday from reddit for just posting things and so that was also my idea with kinda and that's kinda what friendtech is all about you can kinda get like a payday for your influence and that's what twitter is doing so all these platforms are realizing well okay we're providing the platform but also a huge part of the value creation is coming from the content creators and on a lot of like typical internet forums like hacker news or something like that or even reddit and you know there's they're just rolling it out you weren't you know as the content creator you weren't getting that value back it was all going back to the shareholders the the the whole platform whoever owned it and now i think part of this whole idea with dgen is that people are posting and the way i skit you know the way i made the points was that points should go to the people who are getting who are making like high valuable you know highly valuable posts and i kinda created my own algorithm around my rule based algorithm which was just like well you get a lot of likes you get a lot of recasts and you're posting to the d gen channel so i'll give you these d gen because forecaster isn't gonna do it probably for good reason probably their investors don't want that yeah probably there's like a lot of legal stuff that they have to go through
regulatory unknowns at this point if you're a us company for sure

so i feel like i understand why they don't want and they probably don't wanna associate with like dgen like like you know but well i don't know how closely they wanna associate with us but either way i feel like this is probably a way to give people back some of the value that they're creating on on the whole forecaster platform and i think that's what people really like it was like okay i'm looking at this leader board i've i've been providing value to this whole platform and now i can kinda cash out and do something with it and i think that's super appealing in in terms of utility and i'm wondering if like other platforms will start rolling out similar things or if other channels will have like their own coins but i wanna take this a little bit further and airdrop too and i have like a cool idea and we'll see how it works out where basically it's it's the same thing you you end up kinda gaining value but but i'm gonna try and leave out myself and my algorithm and my opinionation as much as possible and kinda allow other people to kinda decide where points go so that's kind of my idea so far but we'll see yeah
let's take a step back just a second for adrian and others who've never played around with meme points so when you're creating a coin in in the in everyone i think there's i've always find this fun when i talk about this in class because they're like wait you can just make one i'm like yes we can just make one they're like really and i'm like so i actually had to do it one time just to show yes i can watch like and it takes like 5 minutes but there's a lot more involved when you think about tokenomics so this is something i do in class where i'll have them go through the process of like come up with tokenomics for a coin that we would use on campus and we think about you know different problems we might be able to solve with it so when you're thinking about like what this is gonna be how did you come up with sort of the concept and like what was the plan and did you take anything from what you saw with points and parts and wow wow and all these other coins that kind of popped up like did you take any learning from that what worked what didn't work and then bring it into this
yeah so i wasn't really looking so much at points and wow wow and and farts and stuff they were kinda doing their own thing and some of them had some cool ideas i would say farts was kinda cool they were trying to help purple dao but yeah the thing i mean i looked a lot at uniswap because i think uniswap is like the platform in terms of like utility and like what just just as a product and i i don't know i just really like the way they executed everything so i kinda looked at how they did their whole airdrop and their tokenomics and i forget now i think they gave out like 50% of their token or i i don't remember exactly but i was kinda taking a look at you know what what they ended up doing they also had a liquidity mining program for a while they had a couple pools set up where basically people could put their unis in in a pool and then essentially earn some mon some more uni yeah and then i also looked a lot at blur because blur is obviously

from blur like the font from d gen is definitely taken from blur the boost idea is taken from blur i think they just really gamified things like super well and then i i did look at their tokenomics and they gave away like 51% and then they left a big portion of the pie for themselves and investors and things like that but obviously for what i'm doing it's right now it's not yeah i don't know for one oh well one of the things also with uniswap that i really liked that i also took was that after 4 years they had a 2% inflation rate that kicks in and i think that kicks in this year this year actually so so the other token i think is 4 years old now but maybe i'm wrong you have to double check so so i thought that was like real really genius and that's something that you know because once i distribute all the tokens it's kinda like game over like well what do i do now either i have to create a product that ends up creating like i don't know generating some kind of income revenue which you know i'd like to do it to some degree for sure but also having that 1% as like an incentive to pay out to like advisors employees or i don't know any i think it just opens up a huge like realm of possibilities and you could always burn it if if you if you think it's being like you know with if people are kinda interpreting it as as a negative thing so i think uniswap and blur were the 2 big ones for me

does feel different and and you and she was like okay i'm in and for me it's also i always dabble in all this because i wanna learn so there's something to be learned you know whether it it you know crashes or does really well like to me is not the biggest reason i almost never sell when i should like almost always but it's to me for this one it was also like i wanna see how this all plays out because there's so many thoughtful people putting their twist on it so it goes beyond just you and that's been really interesting that there's a whole community doing stuff on their own permissionlessly around this but i do wanna talk about yesterday to your tokenomics point dgen update locked the initial liquidity pool token until july 24th sent 1 third of team tokens 5% of supply to a 2 year vesting contract maturing july 26th the remaining 10% is locked until july 24 post expiry will decide on extension and alternate use to me this is like very thoughtful it's like telling the world like hey you can trust this i'm not going to screw you over it's really you know what you're saying in putting these these things out here so that the community can be like comfortable that they can move forward and promote it or do the things that they wanna do around dgen without feeling like it's gonna be a rug so i think that's super important that you did that yesterday anything else you wanna add to that aspect of it in terms of the tokenomics or anything anyone should know about you know sort of your plans around that
yeah so yeah i think that was super important to lock the lp token or the lp nft i was trying to find a good way to do it but i couldn't find a good way and then jay from ethxy which has one of the most popular poker game kind of sites on base network he ended up we ended up chatting and he kind of recommended team dot finance and so because i didn't want to lock up the nft in just some random place and i didn't want to do it myself because there wasn't a good way to doing it that was kind of like generic or tested or anything like that so in terms of the tokenomics there is still kind of like a big risk because i you know the dev wallet like owns a lot of the tokens so that's part of airdrop too and you know trying to get that out as soon as possible so that people can have the tokens but also it needs to be done like in a i don't know just in a thoughtful way i guess i guess that's the theme around today it's kind of like the thoughtful thought thoughtfulness and i think like adrian what you basically said was that somebody came to you and kinda told you well you know and you trusted that person and i think i think that's part of the important part of the whole distribution is not to distribute to just randomly not to just airdrop to like random addresses but to airdrop to like a select i don't know like like a nice selection of people who are actually like builders or content creators or just like creatives and then i think from that point on then it grows because those people have like clout people trust them and if they have it they can build something with it and and then it can become like a cool project where instead of building on eth maybe you're building with this dgen token and it's kind of fun and and a lot of cool things can come from front like fun projects that aren't overthought they're just kinda simple and you throw them out there and sometimes like big things happen so yeah that that's still a big risk so i kinda want to get the tokens out there

it's new it's it's new and it's the it's on base it's speed tracer and they're working with different communities to create custom ones to do this game so the dgen dao worked with them to do this particular game so this was yeah so that's what i mean by what's really fun about this is like you have a definitely a decentralized community as doing stuff for d gen that you don't even know about yeah yeah you're the dev who created it don't even know about yeah which is great that's a great thing because that that really helps it fly so that's pretty cool i love that

oh and i think somebody said rainbow is today on the speed tracer and i know that yellow collective is coming up as well they might be thursday or friday or something or no this sunday i think it is so there's it's kind of a fun thing that launched on base and the other thing is that this is all there's a base connection to some of these things so there's that part of it too where base in the base community i should say is is interested as well because of that so you've got a few different communities kinda coming together to to make this happen one other thing i wanna say though is we've talked a little bit about like i personally did not expect qdau from the dgen channel i have been pleasantly surprised that it has brought new people in and they weren't they came for the they came for the coin but they stayed for the community kind of thing where they're like you know yes to crypto i'm gonna give a shout out to you like great example of that like came for the you know came to came to try an airdrop farm but has become a contributor within community within a few weeks like sponsoring our show and do like jumping in and being a part of and and doing things and like becoming a part of this community like really fast so that's been pretty cool so thanks for that are you saying d gen
