it is monday january 29th i'm like what day is it i can't believe it's the end of january already and this is gm farcaster with adrian and nadish professor bringing you 21 minutes farcaster news to start your day and sometimes we go longer than that but today we're gonna try and actually stick to the time however we had a silly things to talk about good morning adrian it's been a minute i've missed you i have to open up online

he was a great cohost he was a great cohost it worked out it worked out awesome so it's been you know quiet weekend on forecaster you know not much going on i i seriously couldn't sleep friday night with all the frames activity and let me tell you the first the first draw like as soon as it dropped i was like okay like when they announced frames i'm like alright so so and then it like a couple hours later i'm like oh okay and when you're not a dev and you have no idea what's going on it doesn't like make sense at first until you start to see the application of it but let's

so i was like

going on but i have to like jump back to a note from dan from dwr 3 days ago so this was the day before this launch or the day early day of it said this might be the most important thing we ship in 2024 and it was a comment to varun saying looks like we might be shipping something on friday again and i went k and and then we got frames so feature friday farcaster frames frames turns cast into interactive apps use frames to build polls feeds galleries and more two frame apps are launching later today you can create your frames right now see reply frames are still in beta which is hilarious but you can share feedback below so and then there was a small little drawing if you will that kinda showed the polls and gave you an idea of what they were talking about and then all hell broke loose

in the best possible way i had no idea like what was coming like i i never could have anticipated what happened next i really couldn't because i it for somebody who's not a developer not an engineer i'm just like okay like i didn't understand the potential at all so do you want to explain a little bit more what is frames and why do you think this is a big deal and by the way before i say that like really quick like just to give a high level view so i can explain our backgrounds frames launches everybody starts going crazy hackathons bump up this was an irl hackathon multiple bounties and we'll talk all about that but this was like little view from the hackathon so we're in the hackathon space in new york city and this all happened like immediately and it was insane so what is frames why is it important and what like why did this cause such a frenzy what do you think

and so when you bring the blockchain into it and connect it with that aspect that adds a whole another layer to this from what i'm seeing like because we have things like and we'll talk about this in a second like what jacopo i don't know if i'm saying or jacopo or we're not quite sure how to say your name what he did with the mint for slicer was really impressive and that seemed to garner a lot of excitement and i think that's the next connection is that is what i'm grabbing is that

know how long about as we've we've we've been doing this show for about 300 years and i think we're both put on farcaster about 600 yeah something like that

so just the bar

biggest da biggest dau ever was this weekend on a weekend on a saturday my biggest that's daily active users so the dao the q dao and i think like 20,000 more sign ups last week so like absolute you know insanity in terms of like what this has done in within a couple days of bringing in new people who are excited to build and who are building consumer applications too like not just techie things but things that people wanna use or can interact with and and that always drives you know attention on a platform of staying around you know just you know farmville is a good example of this we wanna go back i've heard the you know the conversations about you know facebook and early facebook and what they you know that sort of driving attention to it and some of those early games were part of that too of getting keeping people on the platform right keeping their attention there longer and then having it become part of your life so this kind of plays a little bit into that as well if i can do more with right within war cast i don't have to lead or within farcaster so that's that makes a lot of sense to me and i saw that with you know some of the first things and i'm gonna try and show some of these but there's so much i i i'm like so overwhelmed but we'll just talk really quick and then i'll show them in a bit paragraph had one of the first implementations and it was a simple subscribe to our newsletter but that simple subscribe where i just click because the pair my pair you know my everything's already there is amazing and then that's gonna drive more people to subscribe and we saw i think we got like 40 new subscribers in like a you know after i posted that it was like that so that to me from somebody who's a creator or could you know you know somebody who's creating something that interacts here that to me is really exciting of like woah okay that you just drove a whole bunch of attention to something i care about i'm gonna spend more time here so it's all it all makes a lot of sense to me that's what made it click for me when i saw that tiny little implementation which really wasn't a big deal i was like oh this is huge because the other thing that was happening on the back end is if you didn't have a paragraph account it was creating it for you by that action if you had one it was just automatically subscribing you and it was gonna act the same way as a subscription button and i just thought that was subscribing you and it was gonna act the same way as a subscription button and i just thought that was pretty amazing so i

yeah i'm gonna spend my week my sunday my sunday in a room with a bunch of other devs and eat pizza and build stuff and and hack together because this is so fun that i you know this thing happened literally in a day all of a sudden it spun up like oh we're gonna have a hackathon oh here's a bunch of bionies i was in the purple chat go writing a prop i had a prop ready to go for a prop house focused on frames and then we decided not to put it out there because there were so many bounties it was like let's encourage it it's like never mind we don't have to like forget it like we don't need to do the anything right now we'll just wait and you know reward people later on but that was my initial thought too was like let's throw some bounties out there but there were so many things happening so let me actually show that real quick so let's talk about that so linda who will be with us on friday bounty caster spun up a whole bunch of frame related bounties put a particular category for it and then you had a ton of bounties cropping up you had them from base base was one of the first ones zora whole bunch of others you can go to bounty caster and find all the bounties happening for frames and then you had again jesse from base they provided grants for based frames pizza for the frame hackers simple utilities for frame builders in an on chain kit a base frame guide into tourable tutorial and a frame builder chat so there was if you were building on base and frames you could jump in this chat and you'd have the help and support of jesse again record dao for farcaster on saturday went over 10 k and he was and dan was already like casting about that when it was like 7 k he was excited and then it blew that out of the water and then we had variant variant is a crypto focused vc fund they sponsored this irl hackathon in new york at their offices i believe and they have also a whole airtable you know set up for when you are whenever you have a frame ready make sure to submit it to this form form responses will be shared with the teams posting bounties for easy browsing and this was a little bit of this is a post on twitter because you know war cast no video yet maybe that's this friday just showing the hackathon and what was going on and all the folks who were just hacking away absolutely amazing by the way there's also a doc from horse facts with some frame resources so that's available on notion and yeah so this has been i've never seen anything like it but we've talked about how you know farcaster is more than a social platform it's more of the social network it's an incubator hello feeling feeling very validated with these statements if you're saying fc is the new yc here's the thing it's way better it's way better because it's open to anyone right so it's it's yc without you know without the application

you don't have to apply you can just jump in so if you have an idea and if it's a good one it's probably gonna find some funding too in ways that you don't even anticipate so this has been incredible so

no because it's not the only thing that's been going on for the last few days i am gonna show let me show a few frames and then i gotta get into 600 other things that happened last week okay so we had a few examples of some frames this one was amazing i'm not logged in so i can't actually click on it but just added support for zuora sepholia you can have a web three faucet so this if you're using a test net this will you'll click on it it will drop some of the particular type of eth into your wallet so that's amazing here was the paragraph frame very simple subscribe all you had to do is type in your paragraph link and it would pop up this little subscribe button that's to me what was amazing from my little non non little non developer thought for process and he had some random frame thoughts which i thought was amazing hate the pharistocracy now is your time to turn it into barcaster democracy choose their fate by voting in the round below ted dropped this fun little frame it was basically a a cringer cringer based so you got to pick and then this was the big one that got a lot of people excited this is jacopo introducing frame nft the first nft minted directly on far caster so you click and it gets airdropped to your wallet it was gone so quickly and here's the cool thing it's from slicer slice.so

so the idea here if you're not familiar with slice is that they have a i they have a physical digital connection where you can essentially there's a bunch of things that does but one of the things it does is it's a marketplace where you could buy physical goods within an nft and that's a whole thing but there's also splits it's a really pretty powerful tool and then adding this to it is very impressive then we had a whole bunch of other things that happened last week oh i wanted to mention this we have new recast records because some of one of the things that they added to some functionality with some of these frames was that you had to recast it before it would let you take the action or it would reflect the action so by adding that to it jacopo would now has the most recasted cast on farcaster followed by this is not up to date because this changed yesterday followed by who did something similar so talk about some some queue down there so that was pretty impressive and then we had hold on then we had a whole bunch of other things oh this was me as well i'm gonna recommend that you go to steven c i l steven will check this one out i don't have you'll have to like and recap before you can check it out it's it's a lot of fun chris will create it create this one that goes through all the different actions all this all these particular entities and kind of rotates through that's really fun for this particular collection there's a introducing frame meme you can create your own and you can pick who's best dwr or b on this one it will cure results i'm sure we'll have a gm or guest or one soon meanwhile in other news and i'm literally not gonna get through any of it but a couple of things we have new war cast group chat invite links so you start up a group chat you then get an invite link you could limit it to okay my obs is pretty addicting hopefully it's back we should
