yeah exactly it was like oh yeah that's right that sounds that sounds right that sounds completely right and then from dan so in real news in real feature news before we since we've we start with we start with memes now minor war cast update show fewer like this i actually loved this idea new option in the kebab menu on cast that will help us provide better recommendations don't overthink it whether it's a cat whether it's the cast content itself or the account behind the cast selecting this option is private and will help us tune our algo so this is actually gonna help with the algorithm and by the way i love that zeneca in the comments said you know today i learned people call the 3 dots the kebab menu which i thought which also i have learned from dan so thank you for that dan and then this amazingness from zuora let's just talk about this for a second you can now configure custom webhooks to validate your frame mints so this means you can allow mints on just fridays or happy fridays during full moons when the current month ends in a y like you can create all these little parameters for your mints now on zora which how crazy awesome is that like that's pretty nuts i was like oh okay that's i don't know what to do with that yet but i'm thinking about it

we do we love zuora i'm actually alpha alpha i'm gonna be interviewing jacob with toady today on zero pod so that'll come up probably in a couple weeks so i'm really excited about that and okay this is really cool we have a new channel it's called fart but it's not what you think just to be clear it's it's farcaster art and david furlong df has posted a thread of some of his recent favorites and they're really amazing so i i love this new channel and along those same lines i wanted to mention that max is having a crypto art spaces number 2 in a on a burrow today talking about crypto art on war cast so love that the art is getting some focus so this is amazing couple more things before we start chatting with matthew over on x aka twitter aka the thing we never use anymore deese had a note here about 5 things he likes more about farcaster than x no ads especially no lazy scam mint ads 2 i get a daily tip allowance of speculative token to give to friends for good posts or just vibes 3 less than 200 k users on the entire platform yet i get similar engagement to x where i have 250 k followers that's impressive 4 channels allow me to find and post more relative content love that and frames games like pearl minting with warps feels comfy very comfy from the ux perspective can't wait to see what based chad devs cook up for us as frames evolve and in that same little post he had a little special reply from vitalik saying farcaster feels like it's gotten to the point where it's quite usable as a twitter alternative for lots of people the channel's thing actually makes it better in many ways in my in my opinion that said spam is increasing i think dealing with that well is the next challenge and dan replied working on it so that was really cool to see like you know deese is a pretty big well known person within the crypto twitter space the fact that he's making that move over and is seeing the value i think is really important a lot of people listen to him too so i think you'll see some people that will engage more because of that and i just thought it was really cool that vitalik is spending a lot more time over on farcaster as well so you've got you've now got you've got the culture coming in as where we already had the devs you know so it's it's it's happening it's happening it's really exciting
and obviously one one of the big selling points in over the past year is there's no spam

but yeah as obviously as the platform grows and people come well it'll get bigger so

figure it out but yeah i mean in terms of who i am like i i i mean i you know dan talks about like you know giving developers an audience like i was just a random little developer and and his bedroom coding stuff and i've been joined farcaster and started working on event like a year and a half ago maybe it was the very first version of it but i guess kind of something i i don't think crypto or farcaster people necessarily know is i built a coaching company before this so i was i was working at a crypto company before i joined farcaster and then before that i started and did a did a acquisition for a coaching startup okay so it was a it was a mental health like program for guys who wanted to be more vulnerable and emotionally intelligent and so and and i was i was not the coach i was the other side i was the person who wanted to be more vulnerable and so yeah so we worked on that for a year and then and and then kind of while that was happening saw all the stuff with nfts and all all and daos just starting and we were building a community more than a start up and that was one of the reasons we ended up you know calling it quits but but yeah i did that and then it was the excitement was just too strong i couldn't i couldn't avoid it and so i yeah i jumped into crypto after that this is like summer of 2021 i think is when i first got into crypto so
amazing yeah and so what drove you to start events like to to focus on that area what's the what's the driver there
you know it's funny i i don't know if i've told him this i think i have but but victor and actually victor and steph i think hosted a meetup way back at eth nft nyc 2021 i think it was

no 2022 sorry they had a pizza dinner in new york and there were like 20 or 30 of us at that table and it was just so fun and it was all like really really early forecasters i don't actually even remember who was there i just remember going and thinking wow this is a really cool community like i wanna do more of that and so later in the in the fall i was experimenting around and me and was it alok alok hosted a meetup and so me and and and a bunch of friends like we drove down and and and i think there were a bunch of la people and so we did this like meetup in i think like august of 2022 so i just like wanted to do more of that and i had come up with this idea for posting an event in the feed and like how would you do facebook events on farcaster in the feed and so kind of just like started hacking on it and and built the first version of a bot with the app replies or the thumbs up replies to mark that you were going and so we had we were doing meetups through that people would post them and then reply thumbs up and it was very very early community and then kind of started to build on it and so here we are
here we are so now you launched a frame that makes it super easy to like rsvp and connect your forecast or account with that rsvp so can you talk a little bit about how that works you know what that development is and then if somebody has an event like how they can tap into that and and this is for us adrienne
yeah let let's just say someone has a podcast that they live stream and they want people to know when we're gonna i mean they would plan their podcast can they use
like they were doing a meetup in december for example and they and they wanted to you know send allow those who maybe minted their podcast to attend and something like that so yeah a little bit about that
yeah well i kinda mentioned it before but the original there were kind of 2 original ideas in my head which maybe we can talk about the second one a little bit later but i want i i was very excited about this idea of an ethereum calendar so that was like the original original thing and then the other kind of like thing that i was thinking about all the way back to the beginning is facebook events on a social network like farcaster and how would that work and you wouldn't know this unless you're like on farcaster at that time right but like the idea of thumbs upping in the feed to rsvp was actually pretty frictionless already like that was a pretty easy experience you know for for people who are in the community to to mark that they were gonna go to something and what would happen is the bot would then respond to you with a calendar invite so it'd say hey you're going here's the calendar invite you don't have to do anything else right we we know who you are because it's your fid and your connected address and so that was a really cool experience and what we noticed at the time was that 50% of all of the rsvps were coming through that method of the feed so it was so these
were events that weren't necessarily just farcaster it was more like that was a method that you were using and then you had like also a traditional website or something where they could rsvp
the original version of the app did not even have a website and so i built the i built a very rudimentary website like kind of after launching the original bot and then i relaunched the bot and then i relaunched the mess and i was like relaunched things like a bunch of times but it's mostly been forecast for meetups actually those are the things that have really done well on the platform for which reasons we could probably dissect but but yeah i mean that was such a cool thing to see like people doing stuff in the feed rsvp ing and then getting access to an event and like getting the info about it right in their feed and then something kind of subtle that i don't think necessarily would be obvious but when you respond right when you do the thumbs up you would get like that post then gets put into other people's feeds right because there are people that follow you right that see that you reply and so it's just like viral social mechanic and so i think the combination of that was really exactly a year ago at heath denver i mean people remember like the hype was just off the chain yeah no no pun intended
it was
it was nuts and and i think a lot of that was revolving around like the fact that everything was happening in the feed and like the rsvps are in the feed and so i i just knew that like that was a that was a really powerful thing and facebook events is basically the reason i used facebook beyond like 2013 2014 like that was really the thing about it in college was that people were rsvp ing to events and parties and stuff through facebook and just knew that okay if there's gonna be a killer events thing in web 3 it's gonna be done through this like this like facebook events kind of thing it's not just gonna be you know there's luma there's particle there are these event pages but i think to get beyond something like that you really do need to do this you you need the distribution right you need to you need to nail that that's the thing that everybody wants and so and and frames now right like you know evolving the the the the modality or whatever you wanna call it like the frames are the kind of next evolution of that and so so yeah so i built a frame and i actually built it pretty quickly like i there's gonna be a v 2 like so that was just kind of like the first

but i but i just kinda i already knew that like this like this is what i had to do like as soon as i saw frames i dropped everything i was like oh my god like like this is it like i had been waiting for this for so long as a feature something like this i kind of expected it to come eventually but i didn't think it was gonna be this fast and so yeah so once that happened it's like okay this is this is what we need so i dove back in

so we we spent a bunch of time me and graham mcbain who's kinda me and him are are are co organizing it we spent a bunch of time like thinking about different venues we had one it was gonna really overcharge us and then we we had another that was gonna be cheaper but like fewer people and then we finally found one it's 550 people and it's a big enough venue and so and it's a really cool spot it's the wing cooper and company and so so it's gonna be fun it's on the saturday saturday night at the end of eatdenver i've been trying to figure out like how to work on my approvals rsvp list so i can tell like who's real and who's coming and because there's a ton of bots and farmers that have responded to it and so it's yeah it's hard to know what to expect but but it's gonna be fun if you're on farcaster and you're a real person you should definitely come
