one thing on my mind today is what the u.s. election means for X and therefore for Farcaster It’s clearly a big win for X and will bolster X as the place to be for cryptotwitter banter and conservative takes Whereas prior to the election it was less clear how Elon’s X experiment was going So what does that mean for Farcaster? imo it means Farcaster needs to lean harder and faster into programmable transactions, mini apps, and tokens. Bull market is coming which means more trading and more transactions. Farcaster can own that space. But key is tangible success stories. Apps that got tons of tx volume on farcaster. Tokens that took off on farcaster. People who made zillions on farcaster.

My 2 cents on how to manage channels in the new reality that starts Friday: 1. Make membership cost something meaningful - $ deters spam 2. Make every member feel like an owner. You don’t shit where you eat. 3. Be ok with casts from members that you don’t necessarily like yourself 4. Ban bad actors fast and frequently. I may be the person who’s most excited for Channel Memberships Here’s why👇 I’ve long argued that the current iteration of channels feels more like topic tags than Communities. You choose a topic when casting and then your cast goes to people interested in that topic. Community is different. Community is a group of people organized around common goals. Layer on onchain and it’s: common goals + collective ownership! A big part of our vision is that every channel member is a member-owner with skin in the game. When you come to a channel community in a couple weeks you’ll be prompted to buy a membership via Fan Tokens — which gives you access to the channel, partial ownership of it, AND shared participation in all rewards earned by the channel. This is the way.

on today's Farcaster dev call @dwr.eth repeatedly stated that the #1 priority is to improve the quality of content on the network I think he's wrong. Let me tell you why. (disclosure: I told Dan i was going to write this. i hope it spurs some debate) the #1 most important priority is for Farcaster to become more onchain "quality content" already exists in other places and there's no reason or benefit for it to come to Farcaster unless there's some uniquely onchain elements that vastly improve it and tbh most of the content that gets lots of engagement on CT is polarizing debates that the FC community hates the world doesn't need another place to yap about the NBA; it does need better ways to wager, play fantasy games, get access to bts content the world doesn't need another place to yap about what you cooked; the world does need more ways for foodies to get rewarded for sharing great recipes the way to win is by using onchain to change the paradigm and lure people in with the benefits as they emerge
