gm farcaster and welcome to the cast out edition and it's our second one this week this is thursday june 13 and you are here with downesh professor tldr and jace for a little commentary on cast out over the past couple days this one was very interesting so if you saw in the intro the competition was hot potato which is played in a frame and you well you play in a frame and you and you pass it along to another player within the game and we had challenges right from the start we had technical challenges so the idea was that i was going to start the game and i was going to like pass it to everybody they were going to pass it back so they'd all start at like level playing field and then pass to each other except two players started their own games and you cannot be in multiple games so right off the bat i've got two games going on and i have to get with noah thank you noah brag thank you you're the best help me like get two of the players in the other game and like get things sorted and times reset and all this stuff and then we finally get going i pass it to kristen and kristen is like nowhere to be found or was it grace first i think it was grace first and then grace passed chris something happened where it was with grace for a couple hours it was with kristen for like multiple hours and then again for like six more hours it was just like this potato didn't move it just do you
think grace knew
do you think grace knew that kristen was out that's a great strategic move
maybe maybe i don't know but i don't think a lot of people knew what exactly was going on so i thought that it was just like accidental mhmm in terms of kristen holding it so long and now i believe it was strategy so i think it was strategy so that was it was interesting because there was also an issue with time zones when we got later in the day mhmm because part of the rules were from the beginning was like if you want a break you send the potato to me i'll give you a couple hours off and then i'll send it back this is me envisioning that it's moving very quickly right

people for like an hour and people get busy and they're like i need a break from this right and it just didn't move
no this is such a founder moment though because as a founder like you have this vision of how your how your product's gonna work when you put it out there and then it's like okay they like did the exact opposite of what i thought they were gonna do as what i thought
what is happening yeah and then i said any if you pass it to me between 11pm and midnight i'll just leave it for the six hours and then it'll auto pass at the end of six hours which is how the game works mhmm and and then it was because it hadn't moved all day then i felt bad because then we were kind of punishing the pacific coast time zone so it was just really messy so here's what i did when i gave them their vote i gave them an option that they could vote to not vote anyone out for this round because of sort of some of the issues

if they in a majority the majority had to agree but then if not if they voted no we still wanna move forward then they had to put their vote in for the person mhmm so we're gonna see i'm still waiting on a few votes but i did wanna like i felt like we had so many irregularities that i needed like something like just to give them the option in case they all felt the same way or whatever i don't know how it's
gonna go next time or
they would vote out to next time and toady ended up at the top of the leaderboard here's our leaderboard in the end who so we held it the least amount of time he would be still have immunity so that was the you know sort of compromise i could think about

but if you look at like first of all no one should be below me on this leader like that's the kind of like how is there anyone below me like i should be holding this the longest on purpose but yeah so here's where we're at so how is this from a spectator perspective as we did have some me we did have a little bit of conversation but it wasn't as like obvious i feel like

is it is a like you mentioned earlier how the the twenty four hours of yoink was like an endurance yeah an endurance test at the beginning of the game and i think you know this one too is kind of funny because it's like it's actually really annoying to play this game right like i've played it before it's a super annoying game like it is it is not fun it's like a curse like it it is it it is just like a cursed game like that that's
it's kinda like perfect for a survivor game though isn't it yeah
and and it's it's also perfect for a game called hot potato which is like the point is that it
should be annoying
you're throwing it because it hurts
exactly if i redid this again if i you know knowing what i know now i would have set like a two to three hour period and just said this is when you're playing and if you hold it for longer than fifteen minutes you're out of the game and like and but i'd have to figure that out with noah to see if we can actually kick people out but that would be probably a better approach to make it a little bit more fair make sure they know make sure they know not to start a game on their own

was like i didn't even think of that yeah all those little things so this is why we call it the beta yeah we're learning
you know it's yeah exactly what could also work in the future is you saying that you know i mean not that you'll use the exact same events yeah next time necessarily but if that was the case if it was a matter of this is tomorrow's challenge be ready between you know 8am and 6pm or whatever and it's gonna be two hours within there where immediately someone will have received the potato

adrian's kind of comfortably at the top on both price and owners yeah which is which is really interesting

i think i it it does look like the the movement so there's like there's like a definite kind of leader tier in bracket game of adrian ted and toady which i think feels like you know pretty representative of how the the game's been playing out and then like there hasn't been like a ton of movement in this in these seven i mean there's a little bit of movement here and there but

think people probably aren't knowing how to interpret what's going on in the hot potato game like compared to like speed tracer for example mhmm because they they did a good job of interpreting like you know who was actually on the leaderboard who seemed to be playing and not playing and i think i think that the the other thing is like as i think about it because i literally hold every single one of these players so like as i've thought about like what moves do i wanna make yeah

the really interesting thing about the hot potato for me was like okay you have the immunity right so like obviously that matters but now that like everybody is voting and it's not like a tribe thing like i don't know i actually don't know are people gonna care if kristen held it for ten hours or whatever or how i would feel if i was in the game is i would be thanking kristen for holding it for ten hours so that i didn't have to touch that thing right like so i didn't know it's kind of interesting like do you get punished you know for non performance since you're no longer about helping the team right i don't know if it matters anymore
yeah right and also you know i trust or rather i don't trust big moves upward as much because i mean it really doesn't say anything anyone could arbitrarily
end up with someone by like someone could be jumping in right now yep and then like buy 500 shares of cameron and the the the price will move a ton i i would be more apt to take into consideration major movement downward

so just confirming and if they don't vote they don't vote which has happened we've had that happen a couple times so i'm hoping oh cameron said

that's it essentially yeah i mean that's kinda what happens so we had that happen last time and it was it was interesting because the people who i'm not gonna say too much but there were people who didn't vote who ended up voted being voted out so your vote should count for yourself yeah that's what some folks are saying too if you don't vote your vote should count for yourself we don't have that rule so i can't do that but sometimes people lose votes in real survivor too because of like they they bargain it you know they they do the beware advantage or something like that and they lose lose their vote no one's lost their vote yet so we haven't done anything like that
but i'm yeah i gave everybody a little bit of extra time because there are a couple people who hadn't voted yet and wanted to make sure everyone had a chance so waiting on two more let me see if they've come in if not we will call it waiting for one more moment yep i still have five so i'm gonna give it one more sec so yeah this one's very interesting because there's also two immunity idols that are out there right

so there's that too but with an immunity idol you don't have to play it for yourself so the question is is
somebody gonna play it for someone else immunity idol for another this is this is absolute chaos
yeah yeah so if you have a hidden immunity idol you don't have to play it for yourself you can play it for somebody else
i i there's gonna be major panic selling in one of these announcements that like the idol gets played and they're buying back it i know somebody else

and it's here's the interesting thing too is you can at least for one of them the other one the one's a poap one's an nft

the hidden immunity idols the nft is very easy to see who who's holding it the poap a little trickier but also they could as long as it's even if they're still holding it but they say they're using it for somebody else it's being used for that person so sure so there is that aspect as well
and in theory someone could take it down with the ship right so yeah you could get voted out
if they get voted out and haven't used it yeah exactly yeah

yeah yeah so if somebody yeah if somebody gets voted out and it's in their pocket so to speak it's dead and that's it so that can happen as well that almost happened in the last vote which is interesting so i think a lot of people have seen that in kristen put it in one of her videos that she has a hidden immunity idol and she's kind of

went like this you know kind of went i got it and she was very close to being voted out except she had a better score in speed tracer she was tied and she hadn't played her idol so it was very close to that situation where she would have gone out with it in her pocket so to speak but she's she skated through she skated through yeah that was way too close kristen you made me nervous on that one let me tell you because that's what happened in real survivor oh
ted's in a meeting she has a chance to vote i'm sorry ted i don't think she's watching but
but hopefully she can get their vote in i feel bad i would love to get everybody to get their votes in but i'll give it like five more minutes and then we'll call it because i would love everybody to have them in but it's yeah so it's it's interesting there's a lot of things at play we also there's an extra vote out there as well still so that could be at play as well
and do do do i'm looking to see if there's any note about the extra vote i don't see it nope i don't think anyone used the extra vote so that's not in play but there is a hidden immunity idol that has been used

what happens if
so if someone that's voted out and they have the immunity idle that means no one goes home
no no it's whoever they voted for is or whoever you know they voted out that person would go home if they went home with it in their pocket they would go home yeah yeah because they didn't use it they didn't choose to use it so

the only thing we're not doing is i'm not allowing the immunity from the challenge to be transferred which technically it can be
in the
real game

to make it simple
i i think that that's fair to have that have an expiration date otherwise someone would just stockpile them to the end

well lay out your alliances when it's a team challenge you're trying to keep the team strong

when it's an individual challenge you're usually trying to get out the strong players
i mean and and what i said is not i don't want anything like i'm just saying in terms of what i think would be this would be like headline news sure the the other like softball option would be or things go as predicted and like we haven't heard much from grace so then grace ends up being the next and that's that like it's it's either extreme or it's not extreme i do have to go but i'll keep this yep

so i it's such good analysis so the other thing is to keep in mind is that there's there could be multiple alliances at this point exactly and there and there have been i think so it comes down to do you think the tribe alliances are holding or are there other alliances

that's funny yeah yeah that was a funny meme by the way with the potato in the end so yeah so this is this one has been really interesting it's it's really interesting to evaluate all these challenges too and and think through like i don't think there's one so far that i won't do differently if i do them the same but the other thing that has been very interesting and that could be very useful to anyone who's developing a frame game or anything like that it will be very interesting it it provides a great load test so for future game developers let's chat because it on all of these there's been things i think the developers have learned right because of like sort of like this you know strange approach to the way we're doing it so
it's a stress test it is it's a stress test for the product i like
exactly exactly so that could be an interesting use case too
if the you know like for for those who are developing things like to come work with us on cast out and i think it's been interesting too we've seen like bracket game have some interesting approaches too of like this is a little different than your typical you know your typical we can learn some things from this you know from the from your typical like pro sports and things like that so it's really i think there's a lot of lot of learning that's come from it which is great
it's super fun i mean if it if it if it becomes like i i actually think that all of this drama of how it's working and not working is is part of what's fun about it i i actually think the only thing that's missing is like in survivor they have a camera on people all the time and everybody could see the inner workings if there was some way that like more of the inner workings were being seen in real time or right after i just it's so fun because like we're seeing it you know i know i know there's like something very special there so it's very promising
i gotta figure that out yeah i've gotta figure that out i think the confessionals have been so funny and they're so different but you're not really seeing the real like what's really happening but also when i think about this from the survivor's perspective they always do this after everything's done right you're not seeing the show until months later when everything's said and done so it's a little different where it's not impacting the gameplay where this would definitely impact the gameplay it would also impact bracket game and and figuring out is that good or is that bad you know it might be a good thing so or it might be a bad thing right so you know i'm not that i'm not sure

and there's some interesting i will say there's there's a lot of interesting things to reveal in the votes so i will say that it will it will it will illuminate a lot of things so sorry guys i'm just i'm just trying to be as fair as i can and let everybody get their votes in so the chat is funny the move away from team dynamics it is super interesting and this is what i think is very interesting about survivor proper

is you know all these different social aspects of like yeah you keep the people who are really strong in the tribe part and then you try and get rid of them immediately in the individual one because they're gonna they're gonna ruin their your game and then the same thing happens at the end when you have so anyone who's voted out from this point forward so anyone who's voted out today and moving forward will comprise the jury and they're the ones who will decide who wins the game in the final vote

you have to be able to vote people out and have them not dislike you and also you start to think about who do i want on that jury do i wanna put people on the jury who will vote for me or you know vice or it's so there's a lot of different approaches to it for sure but yeah that's part of the that's the beauty that's the beauty of it

you know croft the other thing that i think is interrupt me at any time when the vote comes in but like yeah the other thing i think is awesome here and super interesting is that like in survivor there is like no repeated interactions with the person after the game of survivor is over but in farcaster like whatever happens here right like you know the the contestants are gonna be friends and like hang out on farcaster afterwards so like that's that's also like another layer that i keep in mind a little bit of like you know you wanna you wanna kind of compete in a semi honorable way right because we're we're all still friends afterwards

yeah exactly so the vote to delay is moot at this point adrian just said and yes that's exactly it grace is so excited to be on the jury that's funny hey hang in there you don't know i thought about all players on the jury riley to your point and i am going to give the previously voted out players an opportunity to put a vote in so you all will choose one and it will count as one vote towards that winner but i'm still gonna give the jury i'm gonna keep a traditional jury to you know kinda keep with the with the survivor type of way that they that they do this game although i may change this completely around in the second next time around like i've been thinking about this in so many different ways like should we just do teams should we just you know maybe it's tribes and you're voting out a whole tribe i don't there's a lot of different ways to approach it so it's been like my brain's constantly like this of like after every challenge thinking of how would i do this differently how should i do this all that kind of thing yeah you were not the best hot potato player grace this is true

so she's gonna be the first one on our official member of the jury and ted we thank you for playing a hard game you know that they were gonna try and get you out as soon as they could which was you know honestly a smart strategy now

kristen kristen has no protection now so it was really interesting so i i did not i okay so when kristen first wasn't passing the potato and then i heard oh it's her birthday and she's offline i just thought it was like she forgot she's and she knew she had immunity so she was like you know just gonna play it that way and then i realized later in the day that this was part of a strategy as well and i think it was a it was it was a mole strategy to keep it sort of with her as long as possible and to keep it out of the game so it couldn't end up back in their hands we love it have you seen it it was interesting yeah i'm watching the chat right now

so ted just said alpha there was a girls alliance we agreed not to vote for each other so the girls alliance died wow because and that i i kind of figured happened actually last vote because the fact that cameron stayed in the game to me was an indicate because toady was still in because he won immunity when cameron stayed in the game i assumed that the girls' alliance was not holding so yeah that was unfortunate but there you go so now now it'll be in the jury jury's hands very soon so we have another challenge that we'll start i'll announce on monday we take the weekends off i'm giving you guys a break you'll have a challenge on monday that will end on tuesday and then same thing on wednesday to thursday
they'll be a lot of fun i guarantee it we got a couple couple fun ones coming up and then there'll be one final challenge the following week and then it will go to a final vote for the winners so we're getting really down to it we now have six players left after so we've got two more votes the vote on thursday is the last time any hidden immunity idols can be used there's still one more out there there won't be any additional hidden immunity idols put out in the wild

i mean i got i got out i had my finger on the trigger when ted got voted out like i believed until the moment the announcement was made but like i don't know i'm i'm i'm actually liking the the grace position now because grace didn't betray anyone right like so you know and she's been a strong she's been a strong competitor in the other competitions she's like just such a great likable person like i i don't i'm very you know obviously toady's just been killing it in every performance and like everybody's so
that's but that becomes a that becomes a negative

that becomes a negative that becomes a if you don't win i'm gonna probably vote you out from this point forward so i i've pretty much been thinking like toady's you know that's why he's he's killing these challenges and really you know really putting in the extra effort because i think he knows like the first chance they get he's gone so sorry
