welcome to vibecheck i'm and i am here with nerd aka i speak nerd of tabletop fame and dude i feel i i i will release some lore that you were actually originally the first guest on the pod i had extreme technical difficulties it wasn't even worth editing so of course i had to get you as the first guest for season one thank you so much for spending another time with me i'm super fucking pumped because you got so you got so much more going on now too which is just like i i couldn't be more more excited for you so what's up man how are you

0:56Speaker 1

i'm doing great man it's like you said it's super serendipitous i had so i had a family emergency also happen a couple weeks after farcon in like the june this year also which kinda delayed everything that i was trying to do by like two to three weeks which turned out to be perfect because then i released released my hyper sub like during cast out when i it's like oh cool i have all these influencers' attention in a group chat sweet let's do this so oh yeah yeah it's all it's all serendipitous it all works out man

1:25Speaker 0

hell yeah funny funny how it does work out i hope everything's okay with the family emergency but yeah that that's really a lot better

1:32Speaker 1

now man

1:34Speaker 0

fantastic good to hear man but but yeah let's get into it because the reason originally i had you on here was tabletop was like just popping off we had a pretty i i had a great discussion but unfortunately due to lag issues other people don't see it but a lot around like the potential of tabletop how you got into it what the plans for are are could hypothetically be and now a lot of that's coming to fruition but if you wanna start with just like i hopefully people have tuning into multiple of these at this point but like who you are how you found firecaster what do you do like what makes you you at least on this little corner of the decentralized web

2:10Speaker 1

oh man so my personal my personal pitch summary in thirty seconds or less go

2:15Speaker 0

yeah you can get it if you need it

2:18Speaker 1

yeah i found farcaster in like february of twenty twenty three i think humpty.eth got me or let me in on the secret to follow dan on twitter and just look for the look for the secret coded things and dm'd dan he'd got me in at some point and was just super impressed with the engagement and the actual humans that i could get a hold of and just from being a human on forecaster it was super cool i think my first cast was just literally like i had seen somebody else cast one of these it was like my non crypto interests in no particular order it was just a list of stuff and looking back at that it's like super it's super fucking nerdy it's like board games like d and d like data analysis like shit like this and but that's me i speak nerd what i'm do i don't even remember what where was i supposed to end at this

3:11Speaker 0

you can end wherever you want but i think it's a good it's a good pivot because like i remember talking about this and like the first thing like you had was board games and then that was sort of the genesis of tabletop which i think is one of the top channels for sure i don't know where where its ranking is but but i think it's a funny story if you wanna share how how tabletop came to be from like before it was you and like now that it now that it is you

3:36Speaker 1

yeah tabletop is now just past 72,000 followers i think which is insane to me personally especially because when they did the original channel channel experiment on forecaster in october you know dan had a couple put out a call for a couple people who wanted to be channel leads and all that stuff and i applied for that but didn't get it and then dan put out a request hey base hey what other channels do y'all wanna see what other content do you guys wanna be posting about and just me off in the corner is like tabletop because just because i just i love board games and there's cool people on firecaster and i wanna talk about the things the board games with the cool people on firecaster that was really the incentive for me and then it was just me basically off by myself just posting stuff that i was interested in like hey here's this game hey here's this review hey what are you guys playing this weekend hey introduce each other introduce yourself like just again community building stuff and then i turn around in like february january february of this year and it's like holy shit there's 20,000 people on this channel what the fuck like like turn around what what are you guys doing here this is nerd shit like go away it's it's it's weird and so then like trying to figure it out like from that time and realizing like oh i have something here and trying to figure out okay i have something what the fuck do i do with this now and how do i you know how am i evolving this where am i going with this it's kind of been what i was figuring out like pre farcon the two to three months before farcon was struggling to to figure that part out which i'm sure we'll get into but basically the the pitch is table tabletop is gonna become the open data hub for board games on the internet board game content on the internet

5:29Speaker 0

oh yeah and like boston never right like being a human i love every the it's funny for season one i feel like the hot topic was definitely d gen and tipping and now the the coordinated inauthentic behavior as jeff goldberg puts it but like there's a i feel like there's a lot more discussion around what what a dao is and what a qdao is so so so we'll talk about that but i think that's one of the things that i'm i'm really excited about tabletop course like no matter what you say about number of users or followers like these are all you know metrics that i i think are worth track tracking it's like you're one of the few guys or gals that's really putting together like serious experiences in in serious only in the sense of that like it's like seriously fun like it's like some like someone's taking it seriously right like i don't want i don't wanna give the impression that these board game meetups are like all all like tournament style like elo based stuff but you do i know you're doing some

6:17Speaker 1

there's some of that there's some

6:18Speaker 0

of that it's definitely not it's definitely not where i live because i'm not any any good at board games at all but i do have fun playing them with you guys so alright so so tabletop that's genesis that's where we move through i think there's also been another another what would i call it another thread that's been going through the forecast world these days with the url to irl which really started with farcon as like an ethos and then into a meme and then everything from like i saw someone posting about how like they you know met a bunch of people some of them had power badges and then like the very next day they had a power badge basically right and dan quoted them as this is not gaming the system this is encouraged this is exactly exactly expected behavior so talk to me about talk to me about some of the events and stuff that you're running because i'm really excited about what what you got going on

7:06Speaker 1

yeah so i'm putting on a bunch of board game events basically which i'm kinda focused or been focused in the past on the in person events like we did a side event at ethdenver which was really super ad hoc not organized like at all to the degree that i would like but we got like 25 ish people to show up to play board games at east denver which is super cool and then followed that up with a far con event i think we had 39 or something like that 40 people show up play board games we have a full room tons of people having fun like it it's super cool and now we've done like you know an online tournament for dominion that we did like two weeks ago dan ted you a couple a bunch of other folks came through and played and that's something that i wanna continue doing as kind of like a once per quarter kinda thing and kind of again trying to figure out what's the cadence for this what makes sense with these things but whether you're playing in a tournament which is expected to you know be on a camera and talking with people or showing up to an in person event the expectation for participating at in the actual games at tabletop is like you're a real human that is the expectation

8:25Speaker 1

and i think board games in particular provide a really really great structure for people to build relationships especially us fucking you know autists nerds who like can't socialize normally with people like sitting down with four other people over a board game where we say here are the rules here is how we agree that we're gonna communicate for the next two hours here's what we agree we all care about here's how you get points here's how you win here's how we communicate about these things and it's very structured and that structured social interaction is super great for those of us who are suck at socializing otherwise and yeah it's just super fun it's a great way to take assemble a group of you know infinite scale like you could continue to scale this you know thirty fifty a 200 people and it just takes all those people and they self assemble into groups of four to six or so around a table and just playing a board game for two hours or whatnot it's super fun

9:29Speaker 0

i mean you smashed like this is another one of those like dan is on stage telling you what to do right like cozy corners and my parkers are like how do i get to my first ten thousand followers it's like no wrong like that now it is because like i so that tournament like i i remember having fun with some people i knew i got to meet viz for the first time and now like he is like i i don't know exactly what's going on but he has like some video game they're like oh it's testing out the wanderers which has some nft facts but like it's just one of these things that it's like the the the sort of original whatever ethos of farcaster when i got into it about what is it a year and a half ago now or something like that like that stuff is still there like people have the opportunity to now do it permissionlessly the only difference is now you could like you don't have to do it in feed with like the only 10 other people that are casting right like you can just go off and make these things and make these cozy corners and i think this is definitely the evolution that is probably like most bullish for me on the network at large but also like like just a reminder on the the level of opportunity that's available right because i'm getting more and more questions these days like how do i get a power badge how do i like find people and i'm like i just i i totally get where people are coming from because they're used to twitter they're used to facebook or instagram where it's like you have to play this game or like you have to be on trend and like doing the right tiktok sound or whatever it is right just like as algo slaves basically and that is totally not the game to be played here i'm like do you are you on a power batch like you okay so we'll we'll i'll definitely fill this a little bit with this you launched the hyper sub which i wanna talk about in a second but like how easy would it be to like okay you like tabletop gaming and you want a power batch get the hyper sub get into the chat play with a few people and like dude the follower account like the aggregated follower account of that dominion tournament was like over a million probably right like i mean obviously it's the same people over and over but i'm just saying it's like eight people and like it was it was like basically the full farcaster reach especially because dan was there too we're all involved and like dan casted about it like you just had to sort of be in that thread i'm sure anyone would have you know anyone anyone who's new to the to the platform would have would have immediately boosted if if that's the goal they're reaching like sort of but i think more importantly sort of felt like they're they're part of something which is which is like broadly what i what i love about this type of social network versus others

11:46Speaker 1

yeah i think i think the way to go about it is really to focus on building relationships with people and the the follower count is it's a vanity metric like all all of the people with more than like more than a couple thousand follows are just full of it's full of bot accounts npcs all those things and we don't i i personally don't care about that number what what i care about is making those connections with people who are real humans which tend to be those people with power badges now i'm sure there are peep there are people new people joining farcaster who don't have power badges and so those it's a struggle for those people to get started but like what like what you just mentioned like finding a community that you care about whether that's board games join tabletop if you really care about you know getting defi alpha check out terminally onchain if you really care about you know building things check out what ben ursing's doing with founders and all of those things be active in dev and like just be casting and sending out content around the things that you care about authentically and what i've what i personally have been optimizing for is those connections with power badgers and they've they tweaked they've tweaked the algorithm on farcaster or at least on warpcast recently in the last like two weeks since channels went per since they updated how channel moderation works and the reason i know this is because my follower account has been like literally like on a skyrocket ship i can show you the graph but it's it's crazy since then and i really haven't changed anything about how i'm behaving on farcaster i've just been optimizing for those those people who have those connections and being becoming more integrated into that network of real humans who are out there who will recast stuff that they like stuff that's funny stuff that's about the things that they care about stuff that's on topic for the channel like all of those things and like i think people who are joining farcaster now don't necessarily recognize how powerful channels are because it a channel is it's like a subreddit in that it's people have have have to think about how they're casting their content and form forming their content into the place where it is in other words you have to contextualize what you're trying to say to the space that you're inhabiting and the people who are best able to do that get the attention of the people who are active in those spaces and build those relationships and begin to branch out branch out from there and yeah showing up to in person events one of the best ways to you know again hey i'm an authentic real human i showed up to this thing and get connected with whoever's organizing the event and their and their folks and again just cast people cast content that is on topic to the best of your degree about things that you care about

14:44Speaker 0

it's so funny because like like i said i've been talking to more and more people like the the network's growing i was at an in person event that club ted sponsored in chicago organized with some free coffee and like i don't know if it was just the free coffee or like what it was so like it was definitely the biggest barcaster meetup we've had chicago thus

15:01Speaker 1

far nice

15:02Speaker 0

you can see like the i wouldn't call it like a glaze over but like we've been so trained especially so i'm i'm 38 people like my age and younger i would say for sure maybe a little bit older but like there's just been so much training from such a young age about what putting content onto the internet is right that like when you try to break free of some of those shackles and they're like i just don't get it i'm i'm casting and it's not working i'm like where are you casting is it relevant do you know anyone there like have you tried any of the products like there's a mil like there's a million things being built on podcasting like i understand like not everyone's got money for a hyper sub or like maybe you cannot travel to in person events but like there's a ton of stuff out there that's just like find what's interesting to you like give some feedback use something get active because everyone that's building something has like a following pretty much and if you don't have a following and you're building something you can get one pretty easily but i've also sort of reached the spot where like i i can admit that i don't care about the numbers adrian would say my my followers is not my net worth but as a growth guide it's sort of my proof of like okay this guy at least he was early to something so that maybe i can turn that into like a consulting gig or something that you do

16:11Speaker 1

not just early early and active that's the

16:14Speaker 0

active yeah oh yeah we did we talked a lot about the the folks who have low fids like clearly don't understand cultural norms and that's you know that's fine ev everyone gets to do whatever they want but but it's not not of interest to me but speaking of channels we're both in we're both in lounge this season and i i wanna give cam a shout out because he's absolutely crushing with this experiment as sort of i don't know creating his own sort of like public cozy corner or something like that like a public group chat right like it's it's sort of the framing but how how's your experience been in lounge as as like a it's a channel lead talking about channels in a specific channel it's very like channels all the way down at this point i feel like

16:53Speaker 1

it's it is super meta in that way but i do think the public group chat is a fantastic meta of what cam's experimenting with here and like he's got i think i think we're on day four or something now and i haven't replied yet today but every person that's replying in there is someone who's got a following who's building something of some kind and so all of those people are great resources to leverage and like i've been able to just go through and like read responses and people are like oh i don't i'm trying this but i don't understand thing x y z and i'm like hey i wrote a blog article on that two weeks ago here you go link and like it's people there there is a difference between oh sorry quick aside here there's a difference between shilling and authentically sharing something meaning like and again it's basically how contextualized is it to the space that you are casting it in that you're posting it so like if someone is asking a question or saying they don't understand something and you have an answer that is useful and helpful fucking share it if it's about something that you you wrote or you said or you learned or you cast it about or you built a tool to do that tell them about it share that stuff if you're just you know if i'm just going into slash gaming and being like hey buy this buy this nft it's got mario on it like that's that no no

18:20Speaker 0

dude a % but like it's also you know we were talk about like shots on goal and reps and like that's totally what it is right because you created something of value now you have something that's like to share right and there's there's i like how you said this i mean i don't know i i i sort of consider myself a shoulder sometimes so i try not to talk down on it too much but there's at least a a sort of like perspective difference on like are you sharing something because it's value creation like net benefit right for all parties involved or you fully extract or you're just trying to get out right because there was also someone who like i was like i was like looking for your channels i was like show me your channels and someone came through and like drops them i was like big i like literally i was like you haven't even posted in these channels yet like how can these be your favorite channels i was like i was like show me your favorite channels like i'm not saying you can't chill your own stuff i'm saying like if you're not even casting it then how on earth could this possibly be your favorite right so like it's it's the same thing from like 50 feet away or 10,000 feet away but when you dig into it like what someone's trying to accomplish is like it's very different between like i just want you to come like help me give me something or it's like oh i think i can help you i'm gonna share something that i that i built or something that i wrote or something i created

19:25Speaker 1

yeah that authenticity aspect for sure and that was that was actually an interesting side conversation at farcon about this that i was in with i think swabi.eth was in that one tldr was on the stage talking with i don't remember her name i sorry i'm sorry but they were talking about authenticity on on the social network of farcaster and and it was just a super interesting conversation that really got me got me introduced to tldr and tim and what he's doing over it and he's building bracket and doing all that sort of stuff

20:00Speaker 1

but coming back to your original question two questions ago the lounge experiment is super super cool and also wanna shout out cam as basically like my spirit animal my spirit guide of bouncing my ideas and feedback and like cam this is what i wanna do how do i best go about doing this and he's like blah blah blah blah blah he's super opinionated on like creator creator stuff and it's super great guidance i'm really really grateful to have him have him in my corner and have his input and attention on

20:33Speaker 0

stuff yeah i gotta get cam on here because i love him i i think he's extremely intelligent i love i love his opinionated stances his his like his his ability and willingness to to fuck around and find out is like second to none really so so we'll i'm sure i'll get him on the on the pond eventually but we we have reached the point where you have hinted at the fact that you are bouncing ideas and trying new things at tabletop i've gotten behind the scenes look at some of it it's super i mean it's fucking dope honestly it's so sick but like like like what can you share about like what what what do you have planned for what is not 70,000 people who are apparently interested in board games and other as you call it autism behavior which by the way just like quick side note the fact that you started the conversation with it's hard to make connections like and then your number one piece of advice is to go to in person events it's definitely a fucking vibe like like like dude attack like if it's an issue attack it right like go go pay it first but but tell me about the tabletop what you got planned right now

21:35Speaker 1

yeah so like tabletop is what what i basically what i'm trying to do is i have this channel that i've been growing for over just about what nine months six months nine months something like that and i'm basically trying to now bootstrap paid services off of this channel in a way that again adds value to the community here and doesn't

22:00Speaker 1

and like if if in video games or in balancing games of any kind it's almost always add buffs add buffs buff stuff don't nerf other things in other words i don't wanna take anything away from what tabletop already is i just wanna add new things on top of it and a lot of that is with the hyper sub right now like and shout shout out cassie for this one but hyper subs get hyper dubs let's go let's go but the primary thing right now with that is tracking game stats and elo elo ratings and helping far casters compare basically stats to each other of the people who are active in tabletop who's the best at dominion who's the best at catan who's the best at istanbul and those are the kind of the three games that i'm tracking right now but if we get more people playing other games we can add more games and doing and building all that out and i'm doing a lot of infrastructure i'm coding now i'm learning to code stuff so that i can do this we're yeah we can get into the details of that but

23:01Speaker 1

tracking tracking stats and trying to accumulate that and then we're gonna be able to display those stats inside of a frame eventually for for all of the hyper sub subscribers and showcasing those stats for people you can check that out by the way you can check out the public version right now bit.ly/lowercasetabletop,capitale,capitall,capitalo,bit.ly/tabletopelo with elo all caps we'll get you to the public access version of that super cool organizing stuff organizing events we've got like a weekly game night happening thursday nights in the gather town for subscribers only and we'll be doing some public some other public events to you know publicize hey we out here we're doing shit along those lines what else are we doing oh big thing big thing coming y'all on game summer on game summer is happening over the course of the summer so the big number for tabletop and the big focus for tabletop has always been like get more people making moments together over board games in other words get more people playing board games big number right now is we've got a 10 people who've played board games because of tabletop right now we wanna 10 x that over the course of the summer so we wanna get to a thousand with this and we need you we need your help to go check out the the article linked in the description for for this exactly exactly i'll have directions and information written out on how you can get started playing your your own game online so if you wanted to play catan if you wanted to play dominion if you wanted to play sushi go or these other kind of introductory gateway games that people people know and you'd be able to recognize and play with other farcasters i'll have directions written out for how to get started with that sort of stuff for playing online and if you're a local for los angeles san francisco new york or san diego there's going to be some in person tabletop events also talking with yosh from from terminally on chain is looking to do some tabletop events in new york as well because people are like oh this shit works people people show up for this and have a good time cool let's do more of this and just if you're active in any of these communities be on the lookout for stuff coming down the pipeline for tabletop events for those things looking for sponsorship for those things if you're a sponsor hey reach out to me at ispeaknerd dot eth on farcaster and i'm looking i'm gonna have a sponsorship doc put together as well that i can send you but that's that's kind of the big thing for the summer levering on top of the hypersub for our subscribers i don't know is that is that enough shelling

25:46Speaker 0

i mean it's tribes and vibes is is the subtitle of the podcast i i don't know if i'll ever get yeah i think it's fucking great and if you wanna i gotta talk to you we should do something in chicago too absolutely i don't know i i think you're familiar with with ash chicago too so we should try to figure something out i don't know man i think it's all great i think it's all super yeah

26:04Speaker 1

one last thing i forgot though so all of that that i mentioned is for synchronous in other words at the same time whether you're playing online at the same time with other people or at the same time in person with other people at an event at an in person event but we're also looking to do i'm also running some experiments i'm doing the on chain build a thon right now i'm working with surge and owl who were the two devs working with limon at the farcon hackathon who put billboard together and looking to put a fandom fights or fandom fight frame together for basically like for in again in context advertising for these communities which isn't to say like i'm gonna shove ads down your throat that's not the whole thing i just mean like we have people in these communities who care a whole hell of a lot about those things that they care about in other words like the people in the pokemon channel really fucking care about pokemon yeah same same thing in the magic channel they the mtg they really really care about magic so if we can take give channel owners more ways to activate their communities through this basically competition frames and subdivide your community make them compete to put an image in a frame with some social status and all that stuff i'm really really excited for that like it's we'll it's not live yet it will be coming out we'll be testing it in tabletop and if it's as successful as i'm hoping it'll be we'll be you know opening it up to other channels to to use and seeing what we can do with that so i'm i'm out here we we code in we build in frames like we're doing events i'm doing marketing looking for sponsorships like i'm writing articles like i'm out here man i'm out here

27:49Speaker 0

yeah no i i appreciate the energy i always have i'm i'm big on monetization i'm big on all this stuff i think it's cool that so many people are running different experiments in the advertising game because my stance has always sort of been like like people fucking love spending money like it's one of like it's awesome like like having money and spending it is fucked up

28:05Speaker 1

people love spending money for status

28:08Speaker 0

i mean for like i mean for status here and i've been talking to like joe over at coriant about this stuff too status is definitely part of it but like people just like you know love spending money on stuff that they enjoy as well right this is like i mean there's sure there's some status to like watching a movie like before anyone else does or like you know you could always try to dial it back to there but there's also just like people like you know buy shit for their home that no one else will ever see just because they love it and they they know they have it right it's like what do we really hate like we hate like like the eighteenth of fucking ozempic ad that could shove down our throat because we're just trying to watch like some streamer like break a record or something like that right like those are the things that like are are super annoying and like not have to go over

28:46Speaker 1

this podcast sponsored by nordvpn

28:48Speaker 0

yeah exactly dude like i i get it i know what nord is i don't i don't need like there's no amount of ads that that are gonna make me buy it but that's fine right but but that's really just because the the disconnect is too great right now between like the audience and the monetization and i think when i think about like web three or like what makes farcaster special like it all boils down to humanity and like things that we do with each other but like what are what's the downstream effects of that it's like you can have highly relevant ads that are like net positive for everyone involved because when i think about like i don't even know there are mtg and pokemon channels that were active we have to go check them out but like you know we were playing we were just on a live stream now with you and and and bren who's made a noun's board game or like a a catan fork as i as i like to put it yeah gotta rep the brand baby

29:39Speaker 1

let's go

29:40Speaker 0

i think i'm like i like i learned that i learned that noun's esports has a dota team from farcaster like i like i threw like i hosted like a like a 200 person like international party when i was living in new york it's just like at a bar like i like spot like we had like red bull sponsored shit so like i was fucking in it and like i didn't know any of this stuff was happening but like dude i if if now it's esports was like sponsoring for example the the tabletop channel and be like hey our boys are playing like make sure to come check it out like grab some gear like i'm in like i'm i'm i'm happy to see that because now now you've shown me something that's like hyper relevant to my interest and it's only because like my on chain identity is so quote unquote it's like so so dialed in with with things like channels and interests so i don't i don't know i'm bullish on this stuff in general man

30:26Speaker 1

yeah shout out shout out to sasquatch from nouns esports for sponsoring our dominion tournament that happened at the june super oh

30:33Speaker 0

is that sassy is that sassy we were playing with i had no idea

30:36Speaker 1

yeah yeah yeah that was sasquatch

30:37Speaker 0

that was dope i didn't i see these are the type of connections that like i don't know about like that's that should be in my feed for sure you know what i mean like i i need i need that way more than a tgi friday set like i know what a blue onion is i know when i want one you don't have to fucking remind me right like i think i'll i'll come get one when i need one but that's dope man okay cool i mean this was honestly a lot of the majority of what i really wanted to cover you you're doing so much i really wanna get your story out there and i think what i'd really like people to take away from this particular pod is like it's the shot down goal it's the effort it's like building like not building public like i think sometimes building public people will be like like just keep sharing your repos like i mean if that's what you do that's fine there's a million ways to build in public this podcast is is my particular effort at doing so that like if you are interested in it and if you are you know passionate about it and you think there's even like 10 other people out there that are passionate about it you will be like like you could get genuinely floored about the type of response you'll get from that authentic authentically building ethos in a in a network like farcaster which is just like you just still today as far as i'm concerned it's this episode this is episode one

31:49Speaker 1

episode one redux

31:50Speaker 0

yeah episode one redux the the retcon like it's fucking like it's it's incredible it's incredible what you can build and like and more and more like every day i'm i'm just finding like they're like i really wanna do something like i really want to like you know get involved with crypto or or i really wish i could do this and like i think it's there's something really beautiful about the fact that like this is what like permission this can be right like i think we get caught up a lot of times in like deplatforming which i'm not saying is unimportant but you know it's it's something that gets a lot of airtime we get like you know non censurable like governments gets a lot of airtime but like the fact that like you're on a 73,000 person channel like who do you call it twitter to activate your audience you know what i mean reddit like let people buy shares in the ipo it's like no one's stopping you here and like that's such such a vibe shift that i think remains underrated to this day in terms of sort of allowing people to to live lives that are like more enjoyable whether that be like monetarily or like emotionally or whatever it is it's just better that you couldn't do with the fucking old ass internet as as i'm starting to frame it in my head any thoughts on that stuff man

33:11Speaker 1

this sorry can you just like rephrase that i got lost halfway through that

33:16Speaker 0

it's all good i i i think there's there's a world here that we're building that's you know that's better because it's permissionless and it's not just like censoring it's also like freeing up people like yourself to chase dreams that like you would never be able to like you can't call eli and be like hey i have 70,000 people following my twitter list can i start a business right like it's just it's impossible but now that people own those social graphs like you can i wanted to hear if if you had thought about that at all in that

33:45Speaker 1

yeah i think we've seen i i guess the best example that comes to mind for me in terms of being able to bootstrap a new application or a new service from the forecaster social graph was i think dracula was the biggest success we've seen so far of just being able to basically when someone signs up on dracula they can just pull your social graph into there and boom you're already following all of the people you already follow on forecaster and just populating that social graph across applications which is which is kind of the the dream of what i have with tabletop where where i say like it's open data it's like guys we can leverage the fid your forecaster fid as a global identifier for all of these accounts for everything and it's it's super cool because i don't for i'm going off sorry i'm going off down on tabletop again but like the places where people play board games online are places like board game arena yukata.de colonists i o dominion.games these different websites and they all have different logins right so it's really difficult to organize it's a very manual process to organize any kind of game board game currently and of course you have to deal with scheduling and deal deal with that manually and it's just it's a huge headache that most people don't play a lot of people don't play as many board games as they would like because of how difficult it is to organize games online and they don't have people to play with regularly in person so kind of the goal with tabletop is like hey let's organize and aggregate all of these different services by and attach it all to your farcaster identities and then allow people to you know use software to organize games and take this two hour process of organizing a game and shrink it down to five ten minutes and i think there's a huge opportunity for that specifically now to your point about bootstrapping services and permissionless permissionless monetization from these things i think yeah it's super cool and allows us to just just be trying a lot of these different experiments with stuff the hypersub is super super cool for hey hey i don't here's some things that i know i'm i can do subscribe and you'll get access to them and maybe some other stuff that i'm gonna be trying out down the road but the act of letting people buy into what you're doing through you know a a hypersub which basically it's basically patreon with a lower take rate by the way hypersub takes about half of what patreon takes the those people who buy in are become not just your fans but become more active with what you're doing like i've actually seen the activity on the tabletop channel like shoot up from other people since launching the hypersub two weeks ago it's been really cool really cool to see as these people are more active and just posting more content sharing with each other talking about the things that they're interested in it it's super cool it's super cool man and yeah permissionlessness we get a lot of the like with permissionlessness you get a lot of the issues with like you know spam and off topic content and that kind of stuff which we're all work we're all suffering through right now and working to to figure out good ways to curate from the the the noise and build the signal out of those things but it's super cool to be part of the process of building these things out and to be you know trying different stuff and some of these things will i i think become more widely adopted i think dan what's the phrase dan uses it's like the rough consensus of running code meaning if someone's already built something and it's working and people are using it cool let's do that let's do more of that and we are have a huge proportion of people on firecaster who are building stuff and i'm just super stoked to see where we're gonna go with all of this stuff with all of the tooling and the services and the things that people are building it's super super cool

37:58Speaker 0

yeah absolutely big fan of johnny big fan of hypersonal i'm actually i'm scoping on my own so i'll do my own show real quick keep an eye out for that i'm i'm i'm gonna spit up a very pricey one to see i don't know just to see like what like can you run a consulting service as like the growth individual through a tool like hypersub

38:16Speaker 1

and timo is doing exactly that just heads up you should check yeah

38:19Speaker 0

i know he's on the design side there's a couple people on the design side that are doing really cool work i know ox designer has one as well it's so interesting because that's like the visual feed so you can like you can have much easier proof of work and this this podcast is a little bit more of mine just so people people kinda sort of understand my personality and my ethos and like i said this is my this is my build in public this is my my my attempt at sharing stories that i think people can learn from especially as they're looking for either their own tribe like belong to or to create their own tribe or you know accidentally do so or whatever you know i think a lot of us accidentally build tries and like oh shit we gotta do something with this thing now like what the fuck is going on

38:59Speaker 1

that's exactly what happened to the tabletop

39:02Speaker 0

yeah exactly so you know serendipity but like but but definitely like you know putting in effort and putting in work because you've always been you've always been one of those genuine people that i've i've run across and that's that's been a real boon for me and everything that i do so i think that's i think that's that's most of it man i i i'm glad we got this out here super fucking bullish on everything you're doing obviously i will continue to support if you're out there and you're watching and you have any sort of inkling about like gaming or tabletop like i have no experience like i'm just out here having fun with the homies and and it honestly it's it's just been so much fun to to be a part of everything that you're building so i i wanna say thanks man for for having me having me on like and like bringing me in to be a part of some of this stuff

39:43Speaker 1

hell yeah man super appreciate your your support through this whole thing and like i did wanna call this out actually it's kinda my last my last thing on on my on my list because i because i need list to organize the chaos up here but we like all of this stuff with like monetization and and going full time on forecast and all this stuff this is like i've been a progressive organic thing it's not like i just launched a a hyper sub and it's like hey pay me like this is something that i've been building for kind of organically for the last like year but then it even the funding grew organically and like shout out to like people like chicago who just gave me a bunch of money after farcom was like hey you're doing cool stuff here's some money it's like oh shit cool thank you and i was able to pay the designer of the shirts actually with a lot of that money to to make sure that yeah we out here we out here helping people it's like with all with the artists that i've worked with for any mints that i've done i've given them like 70% on all the mints so like the who was it artist artist walk in made the the stickers the sticker design for tabletop he's gotten 70% of those things you know oh my god vika at vika got got 70% of these like bias got 70% of the holofoil meeple like dude i'm out here yeah dude that that that thing's sick

41:09Speaker 0

bias fucking ships man that that's such a bigger thing

41:13Speaker 1

yeah and it's just been leveling up from all these things so like just out here doing events events has been my biggest proof of work with stuff and getting people getting people involved which also is like this a lot of the secret on forecaster is don't talk about things you're going to do talk about the things you did or the things that are scheduled where is your proof of work on these things like for these events is like my event at fourcon was a massive proof of work of like hey i can get 40 people to show up to play board games and have fun like cool that that was massive and that led to you know some sponsorships it's led to a lot of attention the social liquidity the connection with other power badge users and other stuff it's just been really really really cool but shout out to purple as well thank you for the retro funding purple and ckorella and kojo and all of that crew helping make make tabletop happen i i i actually onboarded four separate people to come to the tabletop event at farcon to play tabletop games like that's why they signed up to farcaster super super cool like these non crypto things are what is gonna get non crypto people excited to come participate in these ecosystems and participate in these things like the non crypto people don't wanna hear about 10% like staking rewards in your random shit coin like they don't give a shit about that

42:43Speaker 0

it's like it's so funny i'm talking to someone today and say how would you onboard someone to crypto i'm like i don't know would you like would you onboard someone to the internet by talking to them about html like it's fucking insanity right like no talk to someone what they care about right like if they they care about gaming come tell them to tabletop if they care about investing sure show them defi but like i'm not i'm not gonna try to convince my mom to buy a bored ape it's just not she doesn't care but you know there's like a meditation crowd then then that's the type of thing that she you know she'd love

43:11Speaker 1

to do spirituality with kristen slash wellness with montes like there's great non crypto channels out there y'all y'all need to do some exploring but yeah it's just been super cool with the the support from people along the way super appreciative of everybody i'm i have definitely forgotten other people who supported me along the way so i apologize to everybody else but thank you all and thank you specifically woof for your support with with all this stuff

43:36Speaker 0

of course brother always i think that's a that's the gratitude is always a fantastic note to leave it on so we'll cut it there man but the good news is i don't think you're stopping i don't think i'm stopping so if you forgot anyone as more people come in we'll do this again we'll keep it with a wider audience so thanks so much brother appreciate you coming on and that's

43:54Speaker 1

hell yeah

43:55Speaker 0

that's vibecheck baby thank you
