https://youtube.com/live/yUtKjlfvcKMgm farcaster yes we're back and yes i did change my clothing again i am i am theming my outfits with each segment so i i couldn't find my purple pin but i put on my purple jam forecaster shirt and my jam forecaster hat so we are
i don't know how you're doing it
i'm just like i have things like sitting out ready to go i keep changing
i'm still wearing my base my base camp shirt from last but i did get a gm forecaster mug for for in in the four minutes we had in between the last two sessions between
i went and switched mugs so i i did grab my purple my purple nouns mug in honor and your
mug game is your mug game is strong both of you
my mug my mug game is so strong it's so strong and soon we will have a mug shop mug shop not mug shop
no mug
shop be careful be careful there's a p in there
there is a p
so very soon so we wanna welcome emery and chris corella from purple the dao that is dedicated to proliferating all things broadcaster so welcome what a perfect day to have you here and by the way purple was one of the answers to the trivia quest to the trivia question we did in our second hour today do you know what the question was in purple we blank jeopardy yeah we're gonna do it backwards yeah
what is the color of ethereum what is the color of ethereum
no no
what was the first down
on firefox
it was
g m far it was g m
far it
was g m
farcaster's yeah g m farcaster trivia so it was that yeah it was our first revenue
yeah your first revenue awesome so cool yeah
it was gm farcaster trivia that we were doing with our usual chatters and the first revenue that we ever made for gm farcaster was from purple
did did people guess that
nobody got it i don't think oh no somebody did get it somebody did get it it was it's fiesta crypto i think he got it yeah it took him a minute though
it took them and this
was pre rounds pre rounds back with prop prop house yeah
yep back with prop house so and there were big there
were some big prizes too
yeah yeah
that's a big deal fewer winners big prizes
it also was more than that it gave us a lot more confidence to move forward knowing that you know there were people who were supportive of what we were doing so that was huge
it's like i've heard that from day one from our first ever grants program you know especially it's like in some cases you're giving 1 eth to like a google employed a google salaried developer you know the 1 eth is not important to google salaried developer but the the fact that other people appreciated what they were doing and wanted them to continue working in some cases i mean many such cases that you know i don't think purple is is a you know we're like a a speed bump in in the route to your success and desire to do this but you know so many other people just like got that hero cast got a first thing and he straight up told me like great this i wasn't sure if i should keep going and it's like a year later they're still doing it you know
that's really cool validation yeah yeah that's great that's great validation alright adrienne take it away
like it's like validation for mom and dad too like they're cool
yeah yeah exactly
yeah exactly well i think what we wanna start with is there's like a there's a major round happening right now which is a collab a joint joint between octant and purple and purple seems to be like the the i know the i know the group chat has been like one of the ones that i can't keep up with because it's gotten so like it kinda got quiet for a little bit i think and then there was a resurgence i know we had peachy on a few weeks ago
yeah new energy
yeah so right so i don't know if we wanna start with just a like maybe just a quick where you know what's happening in purple but i know we also wanna do like and and emery you're here to kinda do a deep deeper dive and and talk about what's happening in the round and and what sort of projects have been proposed
i think we should do the deep dive on the grant that's happening right now and then talk about it yeah
yeah happy to kick this off so a few months ago there was a regular proposal on on nounsbuilder where the
allocated five e for this round and i think chris enabled together with the vp of abundance from octant to match this amount so now we're probably doing this 10 e for round and yeah in order to match i would say
that was that was you just backchanneling with the vp of abundance
no they often have a grand round and i applied on behalf of purple and then we were selected there was like i think like 20 different programs we were the ones that were like very farcaster centric and and noun centric i think
very cool
i see
yeah so since it's halfway matched by octant we've we're like kind of matching the synergies by making sure that it's not only aligning with what's purple is trying to achieve which is to grow and expand forecaster but also the public goods angle of so this round is funding projects that are doing both basically so they have to fill the criteria of growing forecast and being a public good or helping as many people as possible and we have a good number of submissions we've just extended the deadline a bit longer for until next tuesday and i will stop the submissions around tuesday and i just enabled like dms for every token holder so i will send out a dm to everyone with like with linking to a cast and then there you can see all of the submissions and then click them read them more like them which is then the votes but also the rounds team has been building a lot so they've just updated the front end so you can now sort the submissions because there's about a 100 submissions and now you can sort by the newest you can sort by the oldest you can sort by the lowest reward or the highest so that you don't just see the top 10 highest ranking rewards i think that was pretty great
yeah
should should i pull up do we wanna pull up the the yeah
i'll grab it while you
i can i can i can pull up
you got it yeah it's are you going to the purple you can go to the round that's in the contest or just go to rounds.wtf yeah
that's where i'm going
and you can find everything there a 100 entries that's that's wild 100 submissions that's that's great i've been liking as i've been going along and seeing them so it's been it's been great to see gm forecaster did we are entered in that round so you know if you got if you got a like we'd like it but also there's a there's so many great projects that have submitted so it's been great to see
awesome so we've got eight days left for submissions and then will the when does the round close fully
i think the round closes in five days but then there's three more days for voting itself
got it okay so that's why it's showing eight okay mhmm very cool
yeah there's 93 93 contributions or contributors right 95 posts i don't know what the difference between contributor and post is it's the same
it's the same even like just seeing you guys scroll quick
it's working these are all great people who deserve extra funding
yeah yeah there's a lot of great great submissions in here amazing
so how is purple still doing rounds every three months or has that adjusted at all
so i can make sure it's around emery and then and then you can take over but i'll just start and say that our last kind of prop around retro rounds this is the last round so we funded okay six months which is three rounds every other month and so this would be the end of our small grants funding or or a retro funding so we need to put another prop up to decide on the cadence there was just a slightly you know we were doing them every other month and this one i think was like there was like a a three month gap instead of a two month gap part of it was because emory had taken on the new grants chair position and we were onboarding and and and because we were working with okton so there was a third party involved but yeah i mean i mean emre is now running his first grants program here and maybe he has some thoughts on what what our frequency should be or if there's something else we should try or yeah or what
oh my god i totally underestimated this wrong it's it's been a lot of work and
yeah there's been a lot of
i mean i i i gained a
whole new level of appreciation for the work chris has put in because a lot of it is like just invisible in the background and goes unnoticed and just by doing this one round i was like it it was like we we we faced quite a bit of spam i would say yeah and people with bad interest like trying to game play the game or like try to just get funding for free with yeah
i think our our
or or
or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or or my cast yeah
my cast got like someone copied it and put it in as theirs and i'm like no multiple times yeah
i've seen i've i've reported them all as fraud yeah when i see them but it's
by the way this is this is happening with the sunnys right now as i'm also working on that and we went through to go vet spam and it was like one person submitted 13 applications for all very legitimate organizations where all of the data is legitimate so if you clicked on github you go with their github and then it was only when we realized like could this person really be involved in all 13 of these top tier orgs you know
yeah that's crazy that's crazy so emery have you been in the background doing like the hiding and all of that administrative thing within the round to make yeah that's a lot it it
together with chris i think
yeah since we're in
different time zones thankfully sometimes he already gets to them before i wake up and see them and then vice versa yeah but we we try to just make sure that people that are actually fitting the criteria are eligible we try to be as fair as possible and i'm also not perfect so i i also make mistakes and i'm trying to go back and forth and then make sure that those people that maybe were mistakenly taken down that they get a chance to like that the the submission itself is being pulled back up it just happened today for example
yeah i'm sure everyone on webcast can appreciate how hard it is the hell of a difference between a bot and a human these days you know so it's so easy to have a project that maybe it was used chat maybe chat tbt is how it was written but it doesn't necessarily mean that you know that that that would be legitimate so when you read that kind of cadence i'm telling you like this can't be right
yeah no that makes sense i it's gotta be it's getting tougher and tougher to you know the bot the bots are getting smarter
i do think like i don't know if you guys heard the the changes that the webcast team is thinking about making the announcement dev meeting around channels i'm sure you guys know i wonder what that means for rounds where
mhmm
because like if rounds is i mean if channels are membership based in some ways we would have to invite people into the channel to to do it i think for most rounds by the way that's totally normal like if you're in nouns animators or you know you are if you're in hire you're a part of these communities but for us we're like we temporarily allow everyone to submit we may have to think about a different way to do that or maybe
maybe they yeah or or or maybe people who wanna submit who aren't part of purple need to find a purple sponsor
i considered that i think that i think that would be i think there'd be an amazing round where you can only nominate other people that would be pretty cool right purple members can nominate others it's for direct connection
that's a that's a interesting approach i think there's i think we'll know more as they roll out what it how that changes and how the channels change but it's a great point because i hadn't thought about the impact on rounds with but because also we don't really know exactly how it's gonna change it's kinda hard to tell right now but i think that's a great point we'll have to like keep up on
and yeah for sure common theme common theme that's come up in so many of our conversations today about removing friction like removing friction and i'm like but when you're putting things up for grants it's like put a little friction back in the process
put a little friction
a little bit of friction friction friction friction
yeah yeah you get that's definitely somewhere you want you want a little bit of friction at least because yeah otherwise it's
a scam yeah but before this purple grant role have you were you involved in other daos and or have you done other grant type work
in my previous full time role i've worked at the dao which was actually not a dao for one and a half years
and i don't know i don't know what i don't know what the quotes mean
a lot of daos are daos a lot of daos a lot of daos have are a little bit more centralized than they may appear
yeah it was called something dao and it was just fully a centralized
okay organization
like the aim of decentralizing over time but yeah i've also been part of developer dao but it's not really it it like purple was completely different i joined i think in day february ish and yeah the the whole permissionless thing with the voting with the proposals that's really what got me and like you had full overview over like the hump the treasury what people are doing what's getting funding it it was just incredible so it was very easy to just join
that's funny and purple's a dao that does not call itself a dao which is really funny it's just purple
we're just purple yeah that's purple everyone get everyone gets that wrong it's just purple i was like i i fought against that like i corrected everyone for a year and then i was just like this is never this is never gonna stop
you see the have the i use it as an explainer but it is but i so i'll sometimes say purple the dao yeah
yeah that's nice
but i yeah most of the time i just call it purple but that's really funny chris can i just jump in really quick because i don't wanna forget to ask you this can you give us a quick update on the sunnies and while we've got you here and then we'll circle back to purple
yeah cool so the applications closed last week i think on friday and so now we have 1,500 submissions or so to go through wow and soon like like i don't have dates but soon like next week like a leaderboard is gonna go live or at least a metrics page is gonna go live and you can start to see the different projects and their on chain metrics so that's coming soon and then we're still doing the analytics work to kind of assign the different awards to different analytics and then we will have the award show and and then just being a little cagey we don't have the date because it just sticks of doing a live stream which i'm sure you guys can appreciate with lots of parties and and people we're still just trying to figure all of that out
so it will be a live stream we do volunteer to to do part of that
live stream we do need to get you live it will be a live stream it will be in the form of like the oscars like the big thing we're going for here is like to try to get like someone like vitalik to come on and read me tweets you know like we wanna have skits and just make it because like sitting through a couple hours of just people winning crypto awards right is not is that not that entertaining so we wanna see if we can have people record prerecord their skits and do and do stuff like that so the
my god metallic reading mean tweets would be hilarious
wouldn't that be funny
that would be
there's like one way to think about it is like the sony awards the first part was for builders like apply you know get get your application and we're gonna reward builders the next part is for consumers so like let's just make a really fun tv style production where everyone on chain can just come and celebrate it and then thus highlighting the builders and you know having people try new projects and stuff love it
is there gonna be a gala and can i wear a black tie is it black
tie i don't gown can i
wear a gown
you totally can on camera
online gala it's
an online gala champagne
like you said oscar so
i mean we should totally do that i already
have the i already
have the i mean
it could could be the opening you know
we totally should do that with a purple carpet
nice nice
not a red carpet a purple carpet
you didn't
need a red carpet never mind i forgot it's optimism we have a red carpet never mind
red carpet i forgot you know it did require a forecast account to apply and part of that is like an optimism wide effort to do some civil detection using farfaster so that's pretty cool that's really interesting but that
was the yeah that that was the choice for approaching that that's really great to say actually one
yeah i can go there's a whole tangent that i have a weird expertise in around identity and optimism but just one really quick thing is that like your wallet's great until you lose your keys or you have to rotate it naturally because you should rotate it and then if like all of your attestations and reputation are building on wallet there are many reasons why you might rotate it whereas you have connected wallets so you can still rotate your wallets and just connect different ones but your f id is the same so you can accrue reputation there end of soapbox
end of soapbox
when was the last time i'm going off topic but when was the last time you all have rotated a wallet
i'm going to right now like like i anticipate moving to a coinbase smart wallet
interesting we just did we just did a whole
hour of talking about a coinbase smart wall
that's so funny i don't think any of us are gonna have a choice is really what i'm anticipating like it just seems so much better and then so many apps are already even though it's like not the greatest yet like so many apps are starting to like only require coinbase smart wallet so i'm like okay i gotta do this whole thing but yeah cool so you know my wallet my my main wallet's my hot wallet so so you know i don't know how these i'm not always great about rotating assets out of it but but but i do i remember
i keep meaning to put some stuff in a safe too and i just haven't gotten around to it
and the reason the reason i asked because it's on my to do list and i haven't yeah
yeah no totally well i mean i don't have to do that like do you have a hardware wallet that's like the everyone has to do list forever
boy of course
we should all have hardware walls yes they're all terrible and sure you mean it's right there in the box i get there
yeah but i'm also of the opinion hardware wallet isn't necessarily safer i think it has more to do with fake activity like and behavior and very easy kind of hotware hot versus hardware but
we'll see totally totally
yep
except when you download some chrome extension that just jack's ever you know
i don't i've never i haven't i don't use chrome and i don't download any extensions
you're not sick
yeah i just don't
so what other apps do
you need to bring us back
back to purple yeah
i was gonna yeah yeah bring it back to purple because we could we could just sit here and chat about a zillion things because i get yeah yeah get chris in the room and it's just like let's just chat
let me here's i would love to go over some purple members who are just doing amazing stuff so like just less about purple and like purple members doing amazing stuff and i was just writing a blog post in in prep of it so i've got like a some very comprehensive
writing by the way you're doing an insane amount of writing chris yeah yeah are you writing every day
i'm writing every day i'm in a thirty day commitment challenge i have a $100 bet with someone i'm not gonna lose that bet we'll see what happens on day 31
very quickly what is purple
yeah
for those who might be watching and don't know do you wanna do you wanna give that the elevator speech chris
yeah it's funny all four of us are purple members so all four of us are qualified to give this purple is a dao that its goal is to support and proliferate the forecast protocol and ecosystem and we're a namish dao which just means we use the builder dao you can find that at nouns.build the builder protocol which is a series of five smart contracts that manage our organization and it's all modeled at the nouns dao and so the the highlights really are that one the token is auctioned off every day and so we get a new number of purple every single day and my guy we're up to like 480 or something now so we're coming up on on two years soon nice so we gain one member every day 100 of the auction proceeds go into the treasury the money can only leave the treasury based on a proposal and so there is no multisig or team that can just like send money away everything is locked by a proposal so that's it we've been like you know we we started in in october 2022 so you know very few frames and pre although warpcast growth in the early days warpcast was small or a bunch of hackers people like greg just building amazing stuff just for love it i mean there was like a thousand of us on the network there was no logical reason to build on top of it and so we all as a community pulled our funds together to reward those people mostly through the form of retro funding and for the first year i would say we did that there was no other funding in the park escrow ecosystem like it was relatively again this is all pre frames and so the reason why a lot of people's first revenue came from purple is like it was the only source of revenue for for a long time and then i'll just say like post frames it's like now we have vc we have optimism all kinds of grants and the polygon grant there's like a lot of money in the ecosystem
lot of
and
yeah yeah
a lot of stuff it's super great so that was always kinda what we were building towards and now we're one of the funders in the in the greater ecosystem which is why i think it's more important than ever like what you guys say is that like the funding is great there's lots of ways to get funding now in the ecosystem but i think like the validation that 400 super hardcore forecasters voted for you is probably like even better than the funds in most interesting people in all
that's good purple yeah yeah that was huge
i like i i think we have some members that maybe are will be surprising to people so i had to go through some members who build amazing stuff obviously purple members are more active than others but these are people who who hold tokens i'll just start with like dwr has a token he's purple number 238 he built warpcast he's why we exist v also has a token i think by the way or or i mean i couldn't find his token number but he did join at one point we know we know what happened there so obviously we know what happened there so obviously we know what what's
he building
oh the new channel
what's that guy building yeah
channels in work here pub pubs hub ordering
hub rewards he's building the rewards for hubs there are no rewards for hubs running out jeez
so you can't even make that joke i know i know
i know platform and you know jesse from base is a member of purple so it's obviously starting who needs no introduction tyson who's the cofounder of zuora he's purple number 23 so he was pretty early really early i sincerely great in my way we're in here because i use paragraph i shout out mish who is who joined paragraph as designer and so yeah again like everyday tools i use that are worked on by purple members this is the one that i think is like probably people maybe don't even know the ceo of obsidian keith hahn is a purple member he's a forecaster which maybe there's some obsidian channel the ceo of obsidian hangs out in it i use that a 100 times a day so that's particularly exciting for me
i didn't know what obsidian was i didn't know what obsidian was before forecaster so that's like one of those things of like these and i was just talking to i saw dil stack last night at a base meetup and i was asking him how he originally got involved in farcaster and his story was like he was in high school and he was he said he was like very obsessed with these personal like productivity tools like obsidian and you know and he ended up meeting matthew from events matthew was in college i guess in the same city that dil was dilstek was in high school and they met through that and then they onboarded him to farcaster and then he met brian gwan that way and he's telling me these stories about like oh my god these little niche topics bring people together and that's how they all met and i was like oh and i now i know you all yeah and it's like
as you tell that story all i'm thinking is wow they're all so young
so young they are so young so freaking young and so smart so smart
did you see these these guys yeah you probably didn't see this because you guys have been on camera all day but like snickerdoodle ads or something had a had a a forecast to report dude and
are you joking where that's where the news was broken
okay we're here now i'm talking we showed the
we went through the report with them and did a big thing okay we're actually partnering with them on the educational piece that's gonna follow-up
go with it i thought their report was was pretty great but there is a breakdown in age and it does like hump you know there yeah i could martin's thing was like the power badge versus the non power badge by age you know and that's where it's like oh there's a lot of older people with the power badge
oh the old people with the with the power badge it's that's really funny i was
thinking the other day like if it's like i joined warpcast i'm like forecaster i'm like i don't know i'm i'm four seventy two i definitely didn't know anyone on the network i didn't even know who dan was you know i did like like it was when it was smaller it was like a little bit wild like i posted it and then like my first post chris dixon commented on it and i was like okay where am i like what is this place you know but all of this you know and then like jacob started interacting with me i was like i've been using zoho for years i never response to my tweets like here here we are but but i have like now i would say i have a lot of friends like a real actual real life friends who are on farcaster but like i can only really think of one of them that was a friend first and then like brought them in you know pretty wild
that is wild that's really wild that's good that's great though to hear too and i have a similar similar experience and you were you know who i got to know about farcaster was from you and then purple and then coming on fairly early but not not nearly as early as you so like october 2022 or something like that so yeah yeah so still early but not that early not in the april in the april yeah
when you when you win your $5 5 usd for topcaster send me 20%
i have i actually have it'll be on the way i will send you
your free
your your four your your $1 i'll get on that i think i may i'm trying to figure out if i got more than one but i definitely got one the first day and then ever but then it got competitive yeah i couldn't i couldn't i couldn't compete that's amazing so what other what else i've been a little disconnected from what we're up to so what else has been going on that we should share with everybody in terms of what's purple's been what's been happening
yeah i mean i think it's been a little bit of a quiet period the main thing that's had been happening had been organizational and so like we brought emre on to ed brandt's which was which was done by vote and so we voted him in we brought peachy on to the lead growth and community and so i think the it's been it was like a little bit quiet and then we like had all these mechanics and by the way all of this now runs on top of hat's protocol and so that's a whole other rabbit hole to go down but we are decentralized as one can be and so you know it's like all of like you know the mechanics of getting that all set up but there's definitely like a groundswell of new energy that has come in instead of definitely you know like in my world view it's like pre frames post frames but even newer i think there's been a a lot of new energy and new people joining purple and then i just took for granted that everyone who joined knew our long on chain history but i i think we had like a little bit of a period where great we had a lot of new energy and a lot of new people they didn't really know what purple was and what what we should be doing and so i've been trying with the time i have to sort of educate the new members and and point us wherever people wanna go but i think yeah so that's kinda where i think we're at i think we're like waiting for someone to step up and propose some of the next directions we're waiting for kind of even the next meetups to happen and come on chain there's something else that's been great one we used to fund all of the meetups we still fund a lot of meetups but there are other sources of funding people are still funding the meetups so that's all these are all positive developments maybe we'll do something for i guess likely someone will do something for devcon so that i would guess would be
i would think so
the next major purple activation
i would think so it seems like from what i've seen on the timeline that there'll be a lot of people from farcaster at devcon so it does seem like a good a good next big meetup before and then also purple was some big financials well a significant financial supporter for far gone this past one
yeah that's cool yeah we did far gone that was show
will be
the first one yeah
that's alright the first one and the second one yep yeah cool be involved in the third one if there is one i you know what i would love to see someone work on and then or many people work on and get purple grass to do this is just growth tech growth like forecasts or growth techniques or campaigns or experiments you know i think it would be like such a good use of purple's funds to fund a bunch of people experimenting with growth there's a lot of challenges with growth like like this is now i'm going down a personal thing which is like i would love for someone like i wanna gift accounts to people like in mass like sign up for my app the first thousand people get an account for free and it's like it's possible that technology exists i would love for someone to like wrap that up so either purple can just run campaigns or apps can integrate it into their app you know for like the sunnies we totally wanted to gift optimism was totally down to gift accounts to people who wanted to apply but didn't have an account but there's like not a great there's not like a great way to do that you know
like a like an easy automated way
yeah like the way to
say here here's the yeah here's like url and this is how you're going to
we're gonna
pay for these accounts
yeah yeah so i think there's like and that could be a public good but or it could be a a saas product or something i don't know but it like would be super useful if we had something like that then people can do all kinds of experiments to try to get people into the warpcast funnel you know
that's a really good idea anyway that's a good focus next focus maybe
and then now i'm getting distracted and now i'm like how do we do this let me go
i know right i know i know because that's something i think that we could help with too
yeah yeah neymar has some apis to do this stuff i think supercast is signing people up outside of it but yeah there is something more general where it's like you could just have a landing page and then you guys can do some kind of campaign and drive them to the landing page and either i would say either or either it's like sponsored or subsidized or they pay for it it's like it would be nice to just have another front door or backdoor into forecaster that didn't require everyone to like download the app and pay with your apple id which which which mostly i believe in and is like the most effective way to do it but maybe not if you're coming from like the web a web browser right like right right or from discord or something
yeah definitely need a a different a different approach but i'm sure that that you know can devs help maybe we'll see
devs do something
this reminds me
do something this
this this reminds me of this website that gave people bitcoin for like doing a capture
yeah yeah
it would like wow
several years ago
that's funny
ideally you have also where you get like ideally you have this experiment where you drive people in through the various ways you're gonna do that then contract their like three month retention to figure out if it's working right because it could be like someone's like you know i'm really into like
making mugs with ceramic i'm really into ceramic mugs and i'm part of this huge ceramic mugs forum like that's still running on php
shout out marge
shout
out marge from pinata who makes mugs yeah
that's right
really person in cool yeah but like maybe there's some forum that's still running php bulletin that all of the mug people are talking about and like we can onboard them to work fast i could have a different experience
in the mug channel that's funny that's it's really interesting though because i've i've been struggling with this myself of thinking about people who i think could add value to farcaster but convincing them to come on is sometimes hard if they're not in web three so we talk about how we do want non crypto people and non crypto content but it's much harder to get them to to take that plunge so any way to make it easier i think is is great and yeah
i think and the answer is like just
talking about yeah
go ahead like so like webcast is like in a lot of ways it's it's just great right now man especially we've been using it for a long time it was like the best it's ever been in a lot of ways but but like a lot of the stuff i like is it's like so crypto ish that i can like mint right in it you know since zorro dropped prices i've been using warps to mint nfts and everything or do transactions moxie stuff in the frame but so so that like it's easy to pull in a crypto person because there's all this stuff you could do in your feed it's like we would need to use those same tools cast composer cast action frames for non like in really interesting ways for non crypto communities i think that would be key and then it's like well why would i bring my gardening community here and it's like well hey check out this gardening composer action when you you know it like tracks your
yeah it would have to be the thing of like oh this is yeah you do this this and this you can do these things here that you can't do elsewhere yeah
i think that's all about them turning them turning channels into cozy plumbers like it's it's a if you left like if you know someone who loves gardening and so you onboard them to the gardening channel i mean they're gonna see all kinds of content on their home feed right so or even even in the gardening feed so maybe as they turn their
our channel is kinda busy too using that example is really interesting because it that place is popping
and i'm in a garden yeah it's a
great channel it's a great channel like i just i happen to see it every once in a while
yeah it's not my
it's not my thing but it's really interesting
people ask me like what are what are the non crypto interests and it's like oh the food channel is great obviously every social media gets food you know but i do think like the guard gardening is another one but now these are a bunch of gardeners who also probably meant nfts right it's not but but
or are related to someone who mints an nft
yeah yeah
like there's that is ted's is ted's mom on here a gardener was she like someone's lisa someone's mom was doing gardening
someone someone's mom was into gardening
so yeah well i'm rema i i brought one of my friends on and i got a text message after she onboarded she was like good for a few days and then i got a text message and it just said what is yoink
and then like that had nothing to do with crypto and it i don't even think she saw the i don't know but i was like okay we're doomed we can't we're doomed
yeah we were trying we weren't really actively trying but we were having a discussion with a friend of mine on wednesday who is a stand up comedian and she came on to talk about she has a a new stream that she's launching and i was helping her with that so we were talking about that and it turned into a basically is this a cult am i being recruited and if you go watch it it is pretty funny it does feel like that at times but it was it was it was like okay how do we get it not culty
less culty yeah it's a network of networks so we need some very normie networks to come on board
yeah i think that's i think you're right
it's even like you know we've seen much more now than we used to like like women taking selfies on on warpcast yeah and and like i like it in the sense of like oh my god this place is normalizing a little bit like we're the only network that can post selfies yeah yeah
it depends i could do without it to some extent well it depends on what it is
i wanna go ahead can i ask you guys like so chris when i joined it was late late twenty two so shortly after purple started so early twenty three is that it i definitely got the sense it was like okay if you wanted to help farcaster like one farcaster's success was not guaranteed and
i
think enough people argue it's still not guaranteed but it was like back then it just was so obvious like if you it it was like perp it was if you wanted to support farcaster here's the easiest thing you can do join purple you know and
that yeah
and because farcaster is so much bigger now one i think there's many many things to do but i just wonder if like purple's mission hasn't changed in terms of so just what sort of advice do you have for people who care about farcaster want it to succeed
and and kind of how do we see like what do you think purple's role is today versus what it was you know back in farcaster's infancy
cool yeah so here's my opinion around and here's like k i got fifteen minutes here's like a quick story to get to my opinion around december december was around december this year it was like peak forecast there and right like frames had just come out and transaction frames were just coming out dgen it was all forecast there and like i actually totally questioned like what is and like everyone had more money than purple you know it's like someone i'm a joke meme serve a token and the next thing you know that token's treasury was bigger than purple's treasury you know like that'll you know that happened on multiples and then someone got rugged or there was a bug in the smart contract or what all of the song had a nervous breakdown like all of the stuff that happened in that short period of time where purple is and we're still here you know we're just consistent in cranking but anyway in that in that east denver time i wondered like what is our role because like there's so much money in the space and our treasury doesn't doesn't really it's like a joke now compared to the other peoples and stuff and so what would it be and the thing i always like hung to was like my god it's a network of amazing people and so i would love to see this like decentralized even further into like everyone's own social club like it doesn't have to be attached to our treasury it's like you wanna do angel investing in warpcast do it with other purple members you know you wanna do d gen style speculation do that with a a purple club and i still think that would be super cool you know and i will say one thing that i appreciate about nouns that doesn't happen this is actually a pro and con by the way but i appreciate about nouns that doesn't happen in purple like nouns has many network it's like nouns is a network of networks and and so you might think of them as factions or building blocks but there's actually like these groups of collaborators who are like
i have many
names through them
i have many names
yeah but in the most positive way it's like you have these groups of collaborators who like don't have to be in nouns all the time they go out they do stuff in the name of nouns they come back like purple should be like that we've always done everything like as a big group you know but i would love to just have small teams like break off and say like hey we need 5 eth to go do this thing it came back to but the last thing at ethdenver was like maybe we're really a social club and you know status as a service and and all of that stuff and really super cool to be in purple and the membership now come to today and it's like well that joyride kinda came you know that joyride sort of ended like i hope people realize like how small we are like the community is again and crypto as a whole like we are in the bear of the bear now you know and like our last couple of soldiers are are going down and so like in a little and and forecasted needs growth it's had some contraction or slow growth and and turnover so maybe it's like important for purple to come together again and try to identify the things that you know purple is not gonna fix anything but the things that we can like accelerate a little capital behind put some reputation behind and so again there's not a very long period between ethembre and now but in ethembre it was kinda like okay cool i guess this thing's fun but they don't need us and now i've come back today i'm like oh i think it needs us badly again you know
they could yeah i mean i think i think maybe yeah putting some focus and figuring out i like i like the idea of like how can we can we subsidize sign ups can we help with that flow can we yeah
what can we do about retention
retention like can we experiment to see what is what does retain i think there's a lot of maybe figuring out a focus might be helpful for sure
yeah and like a lot of purple members are you know it's some of the vibes since the early days is like a lot of purple members are building on top of forecast there and so we all want growth right like i think the main art team is crushing it i'm sure they wish things were 10 x ing you know just like yeah all of us are just in there you know buoy is an amazing app i use it every day like i'm sure he wants more users you know so we've got all these purple members building on top of it we can like maybe come together and find some initiatives to kinda grow the pie
great yeah great focus we're coming up to the end of our time because we do have something else that is gonna kick off at 05:30 what so emery could you just one more time kinda shout out the call to action for the round and when things are ending so we make sure everybody is aware
yes so applications are up until end of date tuesday i believe and then there's a three day voting period left and every token holder will get a dm with all the t d tldr when when the time comes next week early next week
great and if i have a purple token then that means i can go and like the the likes on the different casts within the round will count as little votes so if i wanted to i can go like 95 projects
yes yeah
i think there's only 93
but yes you're right no 90 i think 93 people submitted 95 projects
oh okay gotcha
and it might be the distinction okay i'd be right back
that's funny and then chris anything else in terms of call to action or anything specific you wanna highlight as we sort of wrap up
i i just wanna like i don't really have a call to action except go bid on a purple token come join our group chat bring the imagery if you have ideas on any of the stuff we said like if you have initiative we have capital so let's let's just work together but the one thing i just wanted to close with was like we used to our retro round in the beginning was five winners and so you know again it was small 15 people applied and five people won and that was like that happened for a while and then we made it when we were getting so many applications it felt bad to reject so many people then we had a came where 15 people won and then like whatever 30 people would apply 15 people would win and so the nice thing about rounds is now 50 people will win or 75 people will win and so it's a little bit less focused attention and focused capital but lots of people get rewarded and so that's kind of been the fun thing of the last round that's what it looks like it's happening again this round so it's i mean it's nice to see lots of people getting recognized
yeah i agree and again we talked about early on how that was more as much as like the funding is great and we you know don't take away from that it was also the recognition and so if you can recognize more people for what they're doing that's fantastic for sure
alright adrienne anything else as we wrap up did the treasury move to full fully moved to base yet or is that
still waiting
did that just happen
yeah we're a 100% on base
so no no longer no longer main net expensive voting
no longer main net expensive voting everything is on base now
we have one last vote which was to move the the builder dao token from main net to base but now all of our assets are on base
everything's there i was looking through like all my my tokens the other thing i still have i have more of the purple square than i do the other the newer tokens so i need to i need to start bidding i need a couple more
i'll just say
that i went through
every every token holder today just like as i'm just thinking about builders and it's like i just first of all there are like 400 people i don't know them all some of them even whatever it's just a lot of people but man the quality of the people in purple is so amazing that really and and like people got really busy it's like you could have been super active in the first year then your start off took off and then you're less active and it's like the normal life cycle of a dao you know but it really would be great to kind of give everyone together and and talk about man we should do it on your show just have everyone come together and talk about like what they you know the state of of warpcast
maybe we need we need to have a regular purple hour where we just focus on builders who are also members of purple something like that yeah
that would
be cool love to love to think that through
but the next time you guys do a twenty four hour hackathon let's slide that in
we can we can do it we can do this more often without having to do it for twenty four hours really we can just do it on a random friday chris we don't we don't have to do it every week in the middle of the yeah in the middle of the night it's okay amazing so adrian any other last words by the way purple was adrian's and i believe first and only as far as i know dao so
i was so i've i've been telling you that so if that's what you believe i don't blame you but i think constitution dao
oh yeah that counts but not really
i had kinda forgotten about that because i didn't even know it was a dao and so that doesn't count purple's the one
i might be because it it was it's more it was more of an experiment that didn't quite you know make it but it would have been a dao had it had it succeeded i was also actually now that you say that constitution dao was my first dao technically so that was
funny night fun night it was a fun night was yeah my my first dao first and only dao that i came in with with intention and i'm happy about which she actually did
i think i think i'll just say that i appreciate what everyone on this call does but like like you guys are proliferating forecast you guys are the mission you know and so you know whether you you however active you wanna be in purple or not you are literally living the purple mission of of a proliferating forecaster and the the protocol and the ecosystem so i appreciate what you guys do exemplary purple members
thank you we we try we try alright pulling on the pearl knuckles had to put the pearl knuckles on and with that we're gonna we're gonna say bye bye and we'll be back we have next up is our chat with d'wuffy vibecheck who is also in the purple round i saw him in there he interviewed us and so that's gonna go live at 05:30 and then at 06:10 is here for the art highlight reel and that includes mr chris corella along with max jackson chris co created brian morris and renee campbell so check those out and then at 07:30pm eastern we're playing poker with a bunch of folks from farcaster and it should be fun we'll be chatting about community building so with that thank you emery and chris for popping by we really appreciate it and sharing about all things purple and we will see you all on the timeline bye bye
thank you
