GM. We’ve seen some recent discussions about how the Clanker Ecosystem Fund works, how recipients are selected, and the philosophy behind different types of grants. All fair questions. Rather than respond to individual threads, I wanted to share a bit more about how we think about the fund and answer a few of the common questions that have come up. A few principles guide our decisions: -- Our mission is to distribute protocol fees to creators and communities who positively contribute to the Clanker and Farcaster ecosystem. -- Different grants serve different purposes. Some recognize sustained contribution, while others are intended to encourage promising new builders creating momentum in the ecosystem. -- We intentionally use human judgment rather than rigid scoring systems. Reasonable people won’t always agree with every allocation, and that’s okay. -- We think in terms of the long-term health of the ecosystem and the overall portfolio of grants, not any single decision. There are far more deserving builders than we can fund in any given month, and we’ll continue refining our process as we learn. Below are answers to a few of the most common questions that have come up. As always, thoughtful feedback is welcome.

Prof and I love the people who show up regularly to our livestreams and use the live chat to chat with each other and to us. After each show I scroll through the list and manually write down everyone's names who showed up in the chat. Then when Prof sends the episode cast, she always gives the chatters a shout out. We weren't storing the chatters in a database anywhere, until a few days ago when I extended our datamodel to include chatters. I went back and backfilled chatters through April. So, if you've showed up to a livestream and said hello in the past 2 months, you should now have a badge on your gm farcaster page. It might be too much of a manual slog to be worth it.

During @gmfarcaster today we got a demo of @viniapp and built a pacman game The miniapp I wanted to build was a tangram game so as soon as our stream ended I opened viniapp and tried creating it. It did a good job but it's actually quite complicated to get right from a UI perspective. So I ended up pivoting and built a block game instead. Play here: https://tangram-seven.vercel.app I was quite impressed with viniapp's ability to understand context and create a functioning miniapp. Handling the brand kit, logos, splash images, manifest files etc. - it was all easy. I went through the default path and launched a clanker to help fund development and pay viniapp credits. Definitely recommend checking out viniapp if you've been wanting to build a miniapp but feeling disempowered b/c you feel like you don't have the dev skills to do it.

hey @nounishprof I shipped something for us today Reply to a cast you want to talk about on @gmfarcaster, and tag warpee with either "curate" or "👀" and he'll take the parent cast and save it into a list that we can pull from before the show Go to our admin dashboard and check out the new suggested casts tool (screenshot) Still need to build: - A way to map these casts to specific episodes so it can automatically feed into our database of casts featured on various shows (i.e. the Lore app and the episode detail page on our website) - A way to generate show notes Built this for me b/c I don't always have discord handy when I see casts that I think are newsworthy. I'm not sure if people will see this as polluting the feed, could be a downside if yes. Feel free to try it

I got back into my account on my phone using my seed phrase but then I tried to recover a second account (warpee.eth) and now my phone is stuck on this screen, seemingly until the account recovery finishes? @rish is it possible to get expedited? The little neynar studio button that suddenly appeared in the apps section on mobile was too tempting to ignore so I had to try it out. I built this miniapp using prompts alone, on my cell phone. Building still required patience and a little grit, but those are not skills unique to engineers. The UI gave me a little "framesv1" vibe and lacks a little polish but overall I'm actually blown away at how simple it was to build a functioning miniapp. Nicely done @rish @manan 🤯 Check out my app - ELO EVERYONE. Showing up to the dev call with my questions like

You crushed it and especially love how you handled the farcaster isn’t cool enough critique 👏 🫢 I have some pretty strong opinions: - you can’t grow a social network by paying “cool” people to hang out. - agree that only small minority cares about decentralization, but absolutely think you can get the masses to care about the actual benefits- open access to social data, ownership of identity and social graph, censorship resistance, freedom to build and monetize without sharing with the platform, etc. There is so much pent up anger with the status quo of social media corporations. “Decentralized” won’t win anyone over but the benefits will. Seed club guys continued to talk after you left and wished for a product that was everything farcaster has, but at scale 🤔 In my earlier career, I spent a lot of time studying and practicing motivating groups of people - and one huge lever that costs nothing is clarity of purpose. If leaders can sell a vision and make it clear how it benefits the world and tie that back to how the individual benefits, and the individual understands their role in the broader sense, they’ll move mountains to make it happen. Why does farcaster exist, why is it good for the world, why is it good for me an individual, what is my role in the ecosystem (creator, builder, investor, marketer, artist, community, etc) everyone needs to be able to answer those questions instantaneously, and answer as if they own a piece of Farcaster. If they can’t there’s not enough clarity. If you communicate 3x more than you think is necessary, you’re only 1/3 of the way there. If they don’t feel empowered and act like owners, they’ll sit and wait for neynar to solve growth. The other levers we used besides clarity were high standards, low conformity/bureaucracy, recognition/rewards, sense of community. We had success aligning and motivating an engineering team of 1000 to rearchitect and migrate a 15 year old monolith to microservices and CI/CD and AWS. Probably some similar lessons in motivating people on a public social network too bc the research was based on general org psychology

Here are my 3 dreaming foxes, one for each of my original philosophical fox NFTs The red fox, aka Hannibal, snuck into my life and became my forever PFP on Farcaster. The dreaming version somehow perfectly captures how I see myself: thoughtful, contemplative, with a pinch of masculine energy Whether you were involved with the foxes project or not, I encourage you to read mario's thread below announcing the final mint in the roadmap and a recap of 4+ years of stories Foxes were a true gift. I made many friends (some of my first URL to IRL connections were through this project) and the art and stories we co-wrote were some of the first true creative expressions I experienced in my adult life, or at least recent adult life. The project ended up being a stepping stone that led to many other things, including how I ended up on Farcaster. @mario I just love picturing you sitting down and creating the first set of characters. As flat and pixelated as they are visually, they had so much depth and spirit. Honestly can't thank you enough for birthing them into existence. Not much else to say except while the project completes its roadmap, foxes are playing infinite games and I suspect the spirit of foxes will endure. In fact just a few weeks (?) ago, @chriscocreated revisited the values we created together. Will Hannibal remain my forever pfp? Seems likely but ya never know what the future holds. CVS, 🦊 💭
