wrt the latest gender kerfuffle i think @proxystudio.eth said it best here! i am once again asking you to remember that how farcaster looks to a rando woman on twitter or elsewhere is not how it looks to us, my suspicion is that ppl's viewpoints here are really skewed due to group chats

I think the FC community is stronger bc it's earnest When you're a small(ish) group, treating interactions with good faith strengthens the group - that's how you grow and become a bigger group, people arrive for the good energy X is world-scale. There's not much growth left, so the vibe is ironic (and hence toxic)

Years ago, when I started building a decentralized discord clone, people asked me why. I wanted a communication tool that was truly decentralized, in a way that no state actor was able to gain control over. Signal's design wasn't capable of group chats beyond a certain size. The features only went so far. And it has failure points such that countries block them by firewall and have to rely on the good graces of others to run proxies, which ultimately get shut down or blocked too. App stores do not share in this ideal — their concern is profit, and will bend backwards when forced to by regulatory bodies. Amazon and others are complicit in helping state actors maintain their control of the web, and are profiting handsomely from the arrangement. None of this happened by accident. And I only saw it getting worse. I realized what I was building in this chat application went beyond just chat, and how pressing it was to make this general purpose.

⌐◨-◨ Look at what we accomplished together as a community! The latest mission in two small towns in the Dominican Republic has just been completed! In addition to renovating the local church in the village of Lecheria, we distributed school supplies in the village of El Batey De Palave! Together we gave out 350 backpacks to help these kids get started in the new school year, with each one containing 5 notebooks, 5 pencils, 1 sharpener, 2 erasers, 1 small box of crayons, & 1 ruler. 3 lots of children's clothing were sent out to the church for distribution, and we fed 400 children & adults with fried chicken, plantains, chips and drinks! It was a small step towards building a better future for these kids. We were able to spread joy, distribute food and school supplies to children, all with the power of nounish values! Watch til the end to see some kids trying on the @preciousnoggles we brought for them! Thank you to @adrienne @nounishprof for the purple nogs we got at FarCon! They are now in the DR too!

Here's an idea for a Farcaster startup: - Sell labels for Farcaster accounts - Accounts can have multiple labels (e.g. airdrop farmer, onchain transctor) - Labels can be either binary or a confidence score (0 to 1) Warpcast would pay to use this service if you did a good job.
