yeah of course i'll try to keep it short just because defi can be kind of intimidating to people so when we bridge the base we saw a huge gap in the market a huge opportunity in our eyes in terms of lending and borrowing and that was a lending depth that was more geared towards their newer people and or folks that hold tokens that like native tokens on base that are not just eth not just the big caps right like your miggles and things like that toshi all that good stuff and we saw an opportunity there because there was no one really catering to that market so we saw a chance to help the next generation get on to defi because to a lot of new people which base has like a lot of new folks to crypto they've never actually touched defi and this is something we experienced on our on our old chain before we bridged to base a lot of folks have never never touched a real dapp and we just worked with the with customer feedback quote unquote and made it as simple as possible and now you have kind of a more advanced generation of that with volt here so basically what you can do to just keep it simple because you can get as advanced as you want but for the basic user you can take your assets say miggles you can now borrow eth with it and you can do whatever you want with that eth you can make another place so you see another project that you really like that you wanna get into for now you could pay some bills or whatever it may be because payday is coming in a couple of days whatever it may be it frees you up to not have to actually sell your high conviction bags quote unquote so if you don't wanna get out of toshi at this price point maybe you wanna just borrow eth against that right and actually put your assets to work
what kind of per like what are the percentages that you can borrow against like i'm assuming there's some kind of like formula of like if you hold this much then you can borrow x percentage or something like that yeah
good very good question so it's actually a p to p protocol so person to person so the lender would actually dictate that so if i wanna set i don't know if i wanna go super low risk as a lender i could set a 50% ltv so they're getting 50% or you can go all the way up to 99% or a % whatever it is you want so it totally depends on the pool like and the lenders that are there right now
okay really interesting and this is all based on different meme coins right because somebody had said something about nfts but is there also nft lending as well
it's not just meme coins so we're we're we love meme coins but we're also diehards for utility tokens and all sorts of things like we have virtual on there arrow etcetera
i should have said coins yeah i should have said tokens no yeah sorry because even anon is a anon is a utility token
so anon is a very slept on project yeah that is a crazy good project nfts if you look in the top right there next to connect wallet yeah nfts are coming very soon we're all we're almost done so people who have base nfts are gonna be able to do exactly what i just described with tokens but with nfts
okay very cool and that was that's similar to with the nft part of it was like what bend was doing for a while i know that that was one of the like and that became a bit of an issue with the changing market so just anyone who's sort of playing around with this and defi and lending just be very careful and and know kind of what you're doing in terms of not getting in over your head don't want to see anybody get wrecked but very cool to be able to use those assets that you may not want to sell yet so really cool approach matassa or cardman i wanna open it up to you to add anything to this that we may may have missed or anything else you wanna add to sort of what people should know about volt
yeah so thanks for having us first of all and you know you mentioned vend and one thing i wanted to to clarify and add on is both on the token and eventually the nft side there we don't have liquidations in the typical sense so i mean there's still risk of course but you each each loan is time based so if if like you know there's some fud or something and like the token price drops 75% or or then if the rep price drops 75% in an hour and then bounces back up you actually don't get liquidated
oh okay
so you you either choose to pay the loan back or you don't within the fourteen days so if if the amount that you borrowed is less than or greater than the amount that you owe or that that the current value of your token is you could just not pay it back and then or or or vice versa so you don't have that same kind of liquidation cascades that you have on something like ben you still wanna make sure that you don't do things that that are too risky but we find that this is like a little bit safer for lenders and borrowers
when you're saying you don't pay it back do you mean that but the i assume the collateral then goes to the lender
yes yes yes but you still have your eth and then the lender can go and sell the token so they're only the lender would lose the difference between what they lent and what it's worth now
oh interesting and
then you still have your youth
so in terms of being on the lender lending side you're setting the terms yourself or is there a certain like structure that's built in
so the way it works is that each pool which we set on our end has the amount of time that the the loans last and the interest rate the thing that you're setting is the ltv which is the percentage of the current cost of the token that you're offering so when a borrower comes to lend they'll borrow first from the person that put the highest ltv and then it goes down from there
okay alright cool rachel what else am i should i be asking about like i know you know this project a lot better than i do i'm just learning about it so what were some other things that we should know or that we should be asking and you're muted rachel stop muting people

i know i think one of the most important things and and kind of timely things to talk about is ybase because you know as mentioned the team were building on another chain and had had a pretty successful lending protocol over there so like just i think if the team can maybe just talk why base why why steel base after what we've seen with the the magical internet casino and why you're kind of feeling extra bullish especially given what happened last week
whoever wants to take that
i'm not sure which one from the team wants to wants to dive into the base question and if you're talking i can't hear you okay there we go
good so we've been following base since before they even launched and we've been bullish on what they've been doing ever since originally we were looking at maybe doing like a component on base maybe just do a dapp or something and then in in the end we just moved the entire project over there base works more like a start up first off in terms of they're just like they're they just get things done you know what i mean like they they sprint and they actually deliver they do what they say add in they support builders which is i don't know if it's hard to come by but to us it's hard to come by and on base it's just jesse is so helpful and so is everybody else the dev tools are second to none the community is awesome everyone's just focused it's it's just everyone wants to build cool shit and have fun you know what i mean while doing it and it's just the perfect fit for our community and us as a team we just we just work better under these conditions
we agree so everything we're we've launched has been on base so for gm farcaster like all our nfts are on on base we love the base team we've been sponsored by base we've received a couple grants so could not agree more and also farcaster and base just go hand in hand they really do and soon for real i don't know if you're aware of that but coinbase wallet is going to be incorporating a farcaster feed so essentially coinbase wallet will be a client for farcaster so similar to warpcast so yeah so i like great to see i haven't seen i'm sure someone else is doing lending on base but i have not seen it like i haven't seen it front and center so i think there's definite opportunity there for sure yeah go ahead
we've we've
got pooled lending on here some big protocols like moonwell but we are drastically different in it we are catering to a different part of the market for that they actually complement each other so it just it fits perfectly in that ecosystem

the back channels and i i haven't even really pitched this to the team but how cool would it be if we could get proxy and banker and you could say to banker hey banker you know loan out my eth for this percentage using vault like there's there's a lot of potential where this could kind of segue to
using an ai bot to yeah help you out that would be interesting or even creating pools and things like that i'm sure there's opportunity there very cool very cool
so vault is very new to forecast but i think you'll agree professor this is this is where they need to be

can can i just say something real quick sure for you if you're not unsure what to ask just wanted to say like it's it's like lending and borrowing shouldn't be scary i know like for a lot of people especially like new users that never landed a borrower before it's they're quite scary concepts and and and words and stuff you do and there's you know defaults foreclosing interest rates borrowing it's it's very very can be very scary for the first time but it shouldn't be like you know lending and borrowing especially like the way we do it's the oldest form of lending it's like a bank right like you have to pay at the end of the at the end of the loan you have to pay back and yeah so yeah we we will be releasing like more more guides i think we're lacking a little bit there guides and videos tutorials out there so people know exactly what's going on but yeah volte is the simplest you were talking about other protocols there are 40 over 40 protocols on base that people most people don't even hear about but ours is the simplest and and and where like and you just have to try it out and see see it by yourself really like that that's where where we get get good at it just actually trying it out just use a burner whatever don't even need to to put eth in just try it out and you'll get good at it but but yeah more more tutorials and videos will come out but yeah just wanted to say like try different things because this is isn't supposed to be scary it's supposed to help you and and everyone and then create this liquidity right for the

sorry i didn't mean to take yes we this is built in a way where you can add like as many tokens as we want obviously like this there needs to be like some sort of like quota because yeah we also have to think about the borrowers like so they're not like at risk if we launch like just a meme coin of 10,000 market cap and just rugs next minute and you borrow like against it like you know a lender will get like at a loss here so but but yeah we we can we we we can't add like the process is very simple we add it but it's very quick to add the way we built it so yeah we we just set up the the the the loan duration and the interest rates to like to according to the risk profile we give to the token you know like cbbtc is different than i don't know miggles right like the interest rate should be different because different levels of risk but yeah we just do that that map that is a formula and we just add it really but right now
is the percentage like the based on the volatility of the token
there's there's a few there's a few yeah there's a few points volatility is one of them there's volume market cap liquidity because liquidity is actually the most important
right
because you know i mean i guess it's it's tie tied to the the volatility but yeah we we measure all that and then apply the interest rates but yeah we just right now we just don't add like many more tokens because we need the the the the pools to be filled up a little bit more so the the liquidity is more concentrated because for example if you go there now and the maximum pool there is i think it's like migos or something like that with 1.5 eth right if someone comes and wants 1.5 eth that pool will go to zero right and and and then no one else can borrow so we're trying to concentrate a little bit liquidity having less pools first and then from there we can add yeah add like as many pools as as many tokens as we want yeah

so more more strategic than than yeah
