yeah you have an interview yeah i'm like what are you doing so he was up building stuff can't stop won't stop shipping every co builder now is a per a portfolio you can view click any username to dive in which is very cool but we'll we're gonna back up and and actually talk about the whole thing first but that was really funny because i was like you haven't been sleeping you definitely haven't been sleeping and just to let adrienne know because i don't think she knows this i know rocketman via nouns so and little nouns in particular and he's just a crack dev so i was really excited to to see this so let's talk about co build i'm gonna make this a little bigger so we can see the mini app what you build here for us and this was part of the on chain summit hackathon correct
yeah so i i actually applied super last minute i i didn't even know what was going on but i went on to twitter like five days before the onchain sf like hackathon was gonna happen and they said they had five more spots and i went ahead and applied and got in like last minute and then i actually didn't even check my email until sunday and they had sent me an email on saturday saying that i should head down on like tuesday and so it's a quick turnaround time

that was awesome i got to meet jesse and talk to some really cool folks at the hackathon and like on the base team too and then i'd already been working on the idea a little bit before that and basically used the hackathon to also get little sleep and just grind it out for three days and launched it on friday morning after pulling
it on that end something you like was this something that you were already working on before onchain summit started or was this something like that you did specifically for that
so basically i probably had the idea like two weeks before the hackathon i had started working on like some of the back end infrastructure
like the week before

okay that's what i figured because it's a really like you know very detailed project so it felt a little you know well too well developed for just just a couple days
we were highly sauced that it got built in a day yeah it was really good no
it was probably more like a week but what was funny is i so when i got in i was like oh this is awesome like i i applied with an idea and so i figured i'd get to keep working on it and like finish it up for the hackathon and i was like so excited by the idea that like i mean that was just what i was gonna do and so i emailed the guy just to make sure like hey i've already got an idea i've been working on it a bit is it okay if i use it and he was like yeah totally fine and then i get there and then during the intro for the hackathon they're like we want everybody to start from scratch and i was like no like i can't do this like there's no way i'm like like i'm not gonna be pulled away to some other thing that i really just don't care about and like don't wanna do and i'm so excited about this one idea so i like talked to the it's like the head of engineering at base that was like running a lot of it and i pleaded my case and he said it was
but please please but what yeah it's cool so i it took me a second to to get it to open up and i opened it a little bit ago but my computer decided once i started streaming no you're not gonna see it so here it here it is so explain like what is happening within co build so you have two two different things going on at least from you know the screen we're looking at right now and this is my portfolio so you can see how much i've spent on coins how much i've raised for the coin all of this is based on different settings like likes recasts and a budget so this is sort of the settings background and it's kind of taking off on tips but kind of flipping it on its head a little bit because instead of tipping and just giving people a penny or 5¢ or whatever you're actually buying their token so it's it's like tipping but very different
yeah that's a great way to describe it yeah i i think like the the general thinking behind this was and i was i was on a i was on a drive when i had the idea and i i basically like we've kind of been working in isolation on this product that we had built for nouns called flows and unfortunately like this big voting block in nouns had kinda popped up and decided not to fund us back earlier in like may i believe and so we had kinda sold flows to some other communities that we're working with and that's kind of still part of our our master plan is the flow's protocol but we were poking around mini apps and had heard about them blowing up and like generally we're having trouble getting like distribution for what we were working on and so i was looking at some of the popular mini apps and i thought like the tipping ones were really cool i'd always thought like tipping was cool ever since like i guess like dgen had to comment to tip or whatever and and i was looking at them as i was and i was like okay these are super popular but also like i'm not gonna spend like a bunch of money every week like giving it away like i don't i don't know it's just like i don't have that kind of money and it it doesn't feel like super compelling for me and if it's not for me i'm sure like a lot of other people feel the same way
i think that's why degen was so popular was because you were spending someone else's money exactly always like always more popular so i am really good at spending other people's money it's really it's it's such a joy for me it's also why i like being announced so it's you know it's it definitely changes the dynamic when you're spending your own funds and even though i'll still do that i'm less yeah i'm definitely less inclined so yeah so i get that totally
yeah exactly and i'm i mean this is probably also partially because i i built the thing but i've like i haven't spent this much money on like a crypto product in a while so that's at least a some somewhat good signal for me but yeah i think generally i was thinking like these tipping apps are really cool but i'm not gonna just give away money but i would love to basically like micro back all these creators that i care about and like own their coin and be able to like look back especially if people blow up and say that like i got in early with some of these people back when they were small and i think the coolest thing that we're building on top of obviously is just like your farcaster engagement like we're able to build this really personalized portfolio like super tied to basically what you're giving your attention to and i don't know it's really it's really clean i think and like i've supported a ton of creators on co build and i feel like i've got this really awesome portfolio of people that i i think are are good so

yeah i like enabled my zuora coin months ago or whenever that came out just for fun and then i hadn't set up the co build app yet and i noticed in the zuora app just seeing those notifications saying like co build bought your coin co build bought your coin i didn't realize the connection was there like to farcaster but i guess i had linked it so i guess when you built this you somehow imported all that like you had that those links so people were buying my
my zoom yeah yeah apologies if that wasn't what you wanted to have happen but definitely i think part of what i realized when i was building this was that it wasn't really gonna work that well if we couldn't use like existing coins like if everybody had to come in here and set their coin then like it it was kinda gonna hit a wall where you'd be liking people and only like a couple of them would have a coin that you could buy so yeah i spent a bunch of time and appreciate the folks at zuora for some api support but it was also pretty tough like i'm hitting a couple of their endpoints and some of them are rate limited and so i spent like probably more time on that zuora integration than most other stuff
that sounds right i thought it
was cool though i mean it was like i have it and and one of my complaints also is like my like we and we've talked about this professor of like zuora as a social app but i already have farcaster as my social graph and having to recreate it and i can't like i like the type integration personally
yeah i think it makes a lot more sense and it's when you go to set up in the settings you could search and it would pull up the coins for you or it would or it would just default it would already have yours if it knew who who you were so i started searching for my coin because it had defaulted to my zorro coin and i was like wait a minute i didn't even set that up yet and i really hadn't really hadn't set it up like i didn't even know it was hanging out there so that was really weird and then while i was searching i found two others that were not me so that was really helpful i was like oh like that's not me i didn't do that one and then i was able to just paste in the coin that i wanted and just paste in the contract which was super helpful so that you know especially for somebody like you know toady hawk comes to mind who may not want his zora coin to be the one he might want it to be better so like or you know another project coin that you're building is maybe where you want the attention to be or the focus to be so i think that's really cool feature that you could just pop in whatever coin you want to benefit and there's there's a lot of you know different approaches to that but i thought that was that was really really helpful

i was saying i just love the concept of like the professor you're talking about like choosing the coin that you want to benefit because obviously the more buys into a coin it's showing demand you know kind of helps but i love the idea of kind of just benefiting the person who is buying the token as well like i have this in mind i mean i have it set up to my adrian zora token but i think did horsebacks do weth did he like choose wrapped eth or something or eth

i was thinking of just doing like the the bitcoin on on base like the coin based on the coin

it's just as my mom way of telling the youngins like just dollar cost average into bitcoin at all times so it's like just keep so it's like yes you're liking me and it just benefiting that way just like i don't know
there's a lot of different ways you could approach this you could also if you have a project you could be incentivizing others to set it to your going you know and kinda get your get your army going and that kind of thing
this is a great segue i think into one of the kind of behind the scenes things that we're working on right now that i wanted to talk about which is which is basically like part of part of the reason we built this is we felt like we wanted to help like these projects and on chain startups that we're working with on flows like basically grow and attract users and like most importantly attract a bunch of builders and so sorry for the background noise in the airport

but what we've figured out was like it's really hard to get people to buy stuff like there's a lot of friction to it and i think what i really liked about co build and part of the reason i was so excited about building it is like i just set it once and then i can forget about it and i don't have to just click swap every day or like even decide how much i wanna buy like it's a really simple decision setup and then it just kinda rolls automatically which is great but what we're thinking about building and i'm curious y'all's thoughts is like kind of in line with that supporting a project coin basically like we wanna empower builders on chain to come together and earn together and share in the upside of what they're building and so i think a really cool way to do that that i've always been excited about is
basically imagine you can join the hire team on co build and when you do that either automatically or whenever you post about hire or demonstrate some work that you've done for the community if somebody likes that post then it actually buys hire and i think that gives us really good signal around like okay this person has driven this much revenue by posting about their community and we can kind of maybe like do some matching pool alongside that or yeah so it's kind of a half baked idea
i think co build co bid co build cabals make a lot of sense co build cabals there we go or co build you know tribes something like that i think that's a really good idea or co builds just co builds yeah i love that i think that's a really good idea and i think that you know social economy it makes a lot of sense and we've already seen you know we see that happen all the time with people like you know doing raids or whatever or you know the doge army has been strong for a decade so there's all those you know all those things so i think that makes a lot of sense so i think there's yeah multiple ways to to look at this
and i'm excited to see see what you what you bring in next that's very cool very cool ideas the other thing i wanted to like point out here was the you also have a leaderboard going on and this is mostly i'm pulling i'm mostly showing this to our leaderboard maxi no no no no it puts you at the top just so you can find yourself easily but it tells you your rank mhmm

so whoops that's top creators all time and then no you're still top creator you're getting the most and then toady and then so that's the most of people backing you and then the top backers are cavalier and then jalbo who i don't know and rocketman so very cool and co build also is getting a lot of love so that's very cool to see so even as you're building this you're getting some support for building it so that's pretty cool i love that and i love that you you know jump in and immediately see sort of where you're at with your portfolio and can see you know who's backing you it's been amazing to see how quickly it's growing as well this has only been a few days and every day i have more backers which is great and then every day i my creator one is going up without me being conscious of it at all like i'll go in and i'm like oh holy crap like what went in last night and i was like i'm i'm backing that many people i have no idea because i'm just you know doing my thing i'm just liking and recasting and doing my usual stuff so it's really cool to see
yeah that's the most fun part for me is like just having this high number of people that i've put money behind and like help support it and having it grow automatically i just think it's so cool and it it lends itself to what i was talking about earlier where it's like you only have to make one decision which is your budget and your config for each action and then it just kinda goes automatically which is awesome
yep and you just set your budget here i do need to have my budget again and then i've kind of been you know i've really been thinking in a different way of like okay how do i manage all these different tipping options and kind of switching between but like this one feels a little bit it makes a little more sense because if you look at my numbers the amount i've raised on my coin plus my portfolio even if i'm down a little bit from what i've spent because you know whatever the tokens dropped or whatever it's still i'm still up so i'm like wait so then it started to go wait i don't really mind you know spending this because i really haven't you know it's not lost it's it's still there so it's kind of a you know if you have to kind of wrap your head around that of like there's still an upside for me it's not totally just you know generosity going out the door which isn't a bad thing

hearing you one tech question because i i really am and i and i casted this last week but i was so impressed when i heard it was built in a hackathon because it was so well done just like in terms of it just worked it was kinda polished it felt like a complete product in itself as as a as a you know v one launch so very well done but my question is when you built it did you have and i is this all using like existing contracts kinda like full assembling of lego blocks or did you have to do anything did you write any smart contracts or is this all using what was existing
yeah so the piece that i did actually before the hackathon started was one of the hardest parts which was the contract for it and like kind of setting up the system that posted to the contract basically the issue as compared to tips is gas is a lot higher for doing swaps especially for zuora coins because you have to basically route through two uniswap pools like you need to go usdc to zuora and then zuora to creator coin which like
like a tip is a tip is just to send right like one wallet to one wallet send a certain amount of tokens swaps are through
exactly which could be like 40,000 like gas which is not a lot but then azure swap is like 1,400,000.0 gas and so basically that's like the kind of the first principle's limiter on like how low we can go and so basically the way we had to architect the contract and system is like bashing a bunch of coin buys into one so we only do one swap but then we potentially payout to like a bunch of people so we can if like five people like profs post in the last five minutes we batch them all into one call we do one swap and then we kinda fan out the payment

yeah yeah i think the idea is just a new a new way to back creators is what i would say but you're actually i would say it's a it's a way to invest in creators really but i hate to use the word invest because i feel like that makes it a little too elevated mhmm we need another word for that you know what i mean we need another word for that but it's that to me is what it is
support you're supporting creators so you set it up very simply like you would any other tipping so it's like microtransactions you're gonna preapprove a budget in in usdc i think is the only one whatever it is but you're preapproving a budget automatically and you can configure every time you like comment reply recast you're going to support with whatever it is 5¢ 10¢ whatever 25¢ whatever you want it to be but instead of transferring your token to the creator wallet like you do in tips where you're just like here's a quarter you are going to you're buying a token that the creator wants you to buy so if the creator has a project token or a their own creator coin or something else then that's they're just it's kind of like they're directing what you're what you're purchasing when you if you go to the cobuild app for the first time i think i i thought he did a really good job of explaining kind of what it is so instead of giving someone money tipping someone you're buying their coin when you like comment or follow and i guess that's good because i mean you say invest to me i just i i think of them as like little lottery tickets like i'm not a good way to put it not one to think about like i'm not going into zuora and deciding like let me make my portfolio of creators like not i'm just not gonna do that but the idea of like sure one the creator is setting this up like you know and it's like a little lottery ticket if if this whole thing that we're doing works out in the end and everyone's got a token and everyone's valued that way cool you you know you bought those tokens early so i think it's interesting

this was interesting to me and it's not really happening yet but it's something they're talking about proposing a copy left license for snapchain we need to release snapchain under an open source license for people to be able to use the code safely we're proposing using gplv3 which is a copy left license this means you can use modify redistribute freely as long as any changes are also made public and available to all we've previously favored the mit license for farcaster repos but vitalik has a good argument for the use of copyleft here which we largely agree with i don't know if you saw this or had any thoughts on it like in terms of the differences between these different approaches

why are these links killing me today i don't know like this is not that different than what we usually do but for some reason today we're having challenges this i'm really excited about this is profile tokens problem many people want to share their association with a specific token maybe it's an app token their creator coin or token community proposal add a profile token field to profiles to share one self declared token association on your farcaster profile this would be super helpful so you'd see something like that like higher or whatever token is like sort of your thing or your own creator token and it would show up in the farcaster profile by the way i really like blockheim's background of course it's very well designed this looks great so there is an fip for this for profile tokens we plan to add this as a client specific feature in the farcaster app soon and publish the data to snapchain once there's consensus on the design we propose adding a new profile token user data field that stores a caip 19 token url i don't even know what that means profile tokens are not ownership or creator verifications just self declared one way associations to start we'll support erc 20 tokens and solana tokens on the chain supported by farcaster wallet

i might stream this later on because i got chip nails so if you don't know if you're not familiar with chip nails they have a little nfc chip so your socials are right on your on your nail and people can tap and get your info and i've been wanting to try these out so i bought a couple and i have another set ready for base camp so i thought i'd try these out so i might i might do that i might stream that as well so i don't know maybe it'll jump on with adrian and and do my nails while she trains her her baby one i don't like that anyway look for that and then we will be back we are gonna be on monday 11:30am eastern it is labor day but we're gonna just labor instead because we've only got one more week and then adrian is gonna be gone for three weeks really need to get those guests so it's like it's coming fast
