let's go yes so we will definitely be bringing that back in october we already have one sponsor lined up we're just finalizing some things there and that'll be like one of our our big sponsors and yeah we gotta wait we gotta wait till adrian was traveling and we also are pacing it for other things just to make sure we didn't interfere so yeah i'm excited to bring it back but yeah we'll we'll let you know when when the tribe registrations open we'll let you everybody know great alright let's dive into a few things that have been going on on the timeline this was the big news earlier this week the npm qix attack so this was a security update from v so i'm gonna skip down a little bit what happened an attacker took over an npm developer's account and replaced packages with malicious versions i don't know what a lot of this means so for those who do great these low level open source components yeah i'm like i don't know open source components are used by many apps including popular crypto wallets any app that updates these packages today may load with malicious code which can propose dangerous transactions to users the farcaster app uses some of these packages but we have confirmed we haven't updated them since the attack it's therefore safe to use our app so this going back to the beginning of this if you're using farcaster app on web or mobile you are safe if you are using farcaster mini app be cautious unless the developer is confirmed it's safe reject any transactions from mini apps you don't fully understand so that was a couple days ago i think everything has been
everything as far as i know is all set now but be careful out there a few other summaries here which i'll include the links in the show notes so if you want to learn more but also privy has had it said as well that they were safe so this is from debbie you may have seen reports of today's npm supply chain attack privy is not impacted none of the compromised packages are part of our direct dependencies and there was a similar message from base that they had confirmed that they were good as well oh here it is base products including baseapp.base.eath are not impacted by recent npm supply chain attack all systems remain secure and funds are safe so chances are you're good but be careful out there i have seen some other situations that have been happening with people getting drained but that's been for other other reasons so

there was a situation with circus so nikki sapp and team created this token launch platform circus for i think it's for solana it might be for base now also i think it's both now but they decided to basically sell the project turn it over to another team and they had announced this a couple weeks ago so i'm gonna read this from nikki and just stay safe out there probably won't read the whole thing but i'll read part of it he said sure happy to address this absolute mess he was responding to thebestpizza eth irresponsible and nonsensical to hand over fully full supply control to a team to take over many people have been scammed okay so what happened was this new team apparently
just took all the liquidity and ran off so there's a big issue so this is what nikki had to say i announced a cto of circus a few weeks back we handed over the project to a team we had worked with for a couple of months who successfully closed deals with some kols managed launches community engagement etcetera i met with their dev who came across as a reasonably knowledgeable guy these were people we spoke to on a daily basis via either telegram or voice we didn't have any reason to consider this team untrustworthy if anything they were eager to make the project succeed a cto is just that a takeover community takeover the deal was that we would provide them with the l p tokens and would keep paying for the infra while we transition the code to their team in return they would keep the project going grow it and give new life where we couldn't they continually dragged the launch date out further and further but kept us in the loop constantly we were even going to help them with some of the configurations for the launch with the intention to use the circus launchpad the other night the lead guy started threatening me trying to squeeze me for money he sent me pics of my family and made several threats i would consider severe yeah the following day he apologized for crashing out and went on to continue to planning the launch which was meant to be this week approximately yeah approximately twenty three thirty c e s t i started getting messages about a rug that occurred and tweets from the circus social accounts which had turned over weeks ago probably the worst possible outcome imaginable and i'm still getting all the facts myself very frustrating especially when i am not at my desk and able to handle things appropriately

so it's hard to remember to do it every week especially if you're not kind of on the yeah

how are you splitting your time between baseapp and farcaster
i was trying to do a fairly even split but find myself sort of falling back to farcaster more i'm trying to i i'm trying to do better but i've slipped
same because i missed the i missed the group the community groups like posting to groups
channels channels yeah yeah so that's when i'm posting to a channel i was always using farcaster mhmm and i post a lot to gm farcaster's channel

so that was a big reason yeah it's it's hard to figure out if you're doing when you're doing both but what i do find beneficial is that the algorithm is different i do see some different things so it is good to go into those other clients and there's a bunch of other clients too there's firefly there's recaster and there's a few others that are on the way like dgen so i do find that interesting that i do have i do see different things if they can get the bugs figured out with the chat over on base app i also think the chat is interesting in terms of being able to use ai agents and we've played around with that i think that's really cool yeah but there's been it's been pretty buggy is the problem
feel like we come out of basecamp with something that inspires us to spend more time on there
i think that will be a big part of the goal the other issue that i have personally this is not a issue for anybody else is that there is no web version so we show cas on the screen so i that's the other thing is i'm always using i use this on my laptop a lot right so i tend towards the web

i've been chatting with this platform that is they're building a decentralized component to it it's called we are eight it's already out but oh very much still in beta and they have a really interesting approach to ads where you it's essentially pay to watch

got to see in person when this went up this was so cool yeah talk about like what you're going to be doing and what's involved with all this
well well thank you for giving me the opportunity to talk about it yeah that's very exciting so this is like i i've been in around this team since 2021 and i just adore them they are phenomenal so laurie medoff is the cofounder of the organization she started it in the eighties it's called the city kids foundation they are a nonprofit that essentially helps to create safe space for young people from diverse backgrounds just incredible work she's done amazing work over the years but in the eighties they reached out to keith haring and said because a a lot of their programming just to kinda back up was around the idea of art as a form of activism and so you know it's the eighties lori knows everyone she is kind of like the mayor of new york she you know she was friends with demi moore demi fun fact demi moore actually bought the rights to lori's life story back in the eighties never developed it but she bought the rights so anyway they did
not know that that's wild
there's a ton of really cool like spin off stories like a lot of a lot of i said you need to write a book but anyway she gets keith haring rents out the javits center keith brings this boat sail that's what the material is it's a giant boat sail and they ship in a thousand kits

90 feet tall yeah spreads this thing out on the floor of the javits center and starts to draw the statue of liberty and if you look the statue of liberty's arm is wobbly and so somebody said to keith hey keith you know what what's up with the arm and he said well i kinda made a mistake i was going in the wrong direction and then i was like actually i'm not gonna correct this because liberty is wobbly i just love that line yeah just so so perfect especially what we're dealing with right now so anyway thousand thousand city kids created this piece it's been exhibited all over the world it's you know this is this was us showcasing it at art basel miami it's been at the super bowl it's been behind paul mccartney like it has done the rounds the one issue we have is it's very hard to sell now yeah city kids needs to sell this to stay alive they unfortunately like a a lot of nonprofits funding is scarce right now this would keep the cause alive if we can move this piece and we're just starting to think creatively like how can we bring what is really known as the people's masterpiece like it's a piece created by many right how can we bring that to people in a way that is thoughtful intentional and then hopefully with the funds the goal is they have a an agreement with the lower east side girls club in new york city to develop the school of audivism where they can just renew their programming so yeah we're having a lot of conversations i met with some i met some of the guys from superrare last night we're talking to them which is open to see yeah exploring ideas
so amazing amazing

and it's really an incredible piece like if you ever get a chance to see it in person it's it's amazing i was i was i sat and looked at that on the wall there were some benches right near there you can't see them they're kind of off screen and i just sat there for a while and just looked at it because it was pretty impressive
i was explaining this to somebody last night like when we put that up like it we there was like the team of us holding it with ropes we got that florida wind that kinda swept through and this thing was blowing in the wind and there's there's magic to this piece like you cut like you said you're in the presence of it and you're looking at it and you're like this is this there's so much story here there's so much depth like it needs to be brought to the world and then the fun twist here as well is just a couple of months ago they found a storage unit the city kids foundation found a storage unit with boxes of video vhs video that is all from the day that keith created so they've been working on a documentary for the last couple of months herbie hancock nile rogers a bunch of other like great leaders people from the haring foundation talking about keith creating this so that's gonna be that's in the works but obviously also you know funding is crucial so my big vision here is we're either putting we're either inscribing the work on bitcoin and then selling it with with the original so you would buy the ordinal and you would own the original and maybe the person might wanna donate it to you know an institution

yeah yeah absolutely one last thing that i wanted to share this was something you had posted every year the first glimpse of the nineeleven remembrance lights stops me in my tracks a powerful reminder etched into the sky spotted tonight on my walk home from yoga class for those who may not know can you explain what this is for those who may not be aware of this
every year for the last i i assume they've been doing this since pretty close to to 09:11
i think it was i think they started it on the year on the year anniversary i think i think so there's two
giant lights that are installed in battery park so it's actually across the street from where the memorial is for 09:11 and they just shine like these huge beacons into the sky and they look like the towers and it is one of the most profound beautiful just living art pieces and it's up for the month of september so it just you know you forget about it every year and then all of a sudden you see it on the on the horizon and i just you know i can see this from this is my neighborhood i can see it and it's just it's beautiful i lived i lived during the the kind of the restoration and the rebuild of that whole plaza i actually lived right there in battery park

okay and so there's like the every year around this time it's just there's like a solemnness and a you know a sadness there one year we we actually because of where my apartment was it was actually inside the enclosure for the reading of the names so we actually sat inside and so sad so sad so such a beautiful way to honor every year and i love that they still do it
i do too and that's the other reason i picked this as my background today was that is freedom tower in the background right behind here and that is where the twin towers used to stand so

always a big big moment and the other thing that a lot of people may not realize so this week is our gm forecaster anniversary is on the thirteenth the reason it's on the thirteenth which was a wednesday two years ago was because i didn't wanna do it on monday i didn't wanna do it on the eleventh so that was the reason mhmm so related yeah and yeah it's it's always it's always a tough anniversary i have my own story on that and i don't wanna dive into it but had some you know went through some even some therapy to to deal with some ptsd that i had from that day and so every year it's kind of a good mental health check for me to see where i'm at with that but i'm always thinking about those who we lost on that day and always a tough one so be thinking of everyone in new york tomorrow who's going through this and and remembering and yeah so twenty four years that's great
it's yeah and i think when you i've been here for almost twenty years now and i you know when you're in this region everybody has a story mhmm and there's one that always sticks out for me it's a friend of the of jen's family and she worked for cantor fitzgerald yeah they were in the first tower and i guess they were told to come down and they came down and the whole the whole department and somebody said you know okay it's safe to go back up and she said something in her like the pit of her stomach just said don't go back up but she'd left like everything up there she'd left her briefcase she'd left everything and she left and she was the only person that you know from that hot department but crazy story just to kinda end it on a lighter note weeks later she had a call or there was a call that came to her house and the the gentleman on the other end of the phone said you know is this said her name she said yeah and he said oh thank goodness usually when i make these calls like the person has passed away

he said i have your briefcase oh wow she said that's crazy what and so her briefcase which was on like the 30 ninth floor or something insane survived and it's now in the smithsonian
