it was just funny it was funny to see it but yeah it never really works right alright into more serious things there were some okay so as we know cassie hart dedicated builder used to be on the farcaster team used to work at coinbase has been building quilibrium for quite a while and built a quorum built quorum which is a farcaster client has now sort of made the push to fork the protocol with something called hype hypersnap

so there she had some comments that were that were posted and this is rish's response so want to this is from rish want to address a few things and then this was the one of the comments neynar's goal is to push neynar products no that doesn't help anything we want farcaster to do well else neynar dies as a company anyway why did you add the neymar button to cast some of these were coming from cassie and some of these were coming from other people honestly because there it's been multiple points of criticism why did you add the neymar button to cast it was meant to act the same as what grok button does on twitter users didn't use it so we removed it that's how experiments work if we just wanted to push neymarproducts we would have left it there in hindsight we shouldn't have added it but again that's how experiments work you learn from them and a lot of people's issues with it was placement as well it didn't where it was placed was interfering with other things the app page points to studio we built a bunch of new stuff into the apps page from scratch we started with discovery and showed an initial prototype here to get early feedback based on that we built a discovery page that we're iterating on but also an experiment and might remove if it doesn't work as expected post discovery we launched a creation experience spoke to that here all consumer social apps bundle creation and discovery well you're profiting from the studio no you're actually losing money on every prompt and app made through the studio it's cheaper to not add the studio than add it vibe coding apps don't make money today the goal here is to see what helps the next stage of the network a tiny fraction of studio users are paid users it has

it has a generous free tier and daily credit drops most users use it for free if it doesn't work we will try something else you are just extracting extracting what in what definition of extraction does one only lose millions of dollars over the course of a year trying to improve an app and a network daus daos daily active users are falling we know daos are falling that's why we are running experiments daos falling are a mix of people leaving bear market farcaster has seen this during every bear market and base removing farcaster the proportion of low scoring users dropping is way higher than high scoring that's interesting same for proportion of base signers first not we can either be doomers looking at the graph and pointing fingers or choose to do something about it gonna circle back to that note when we talk about crypto twitter in just a moment you tweeted about the studio from the farcaster account farcaster has tweeted about most projects from that account we want many app developers to have an easier time that's all again most users use it for free and we only lose money on it the goal was is to increase good experiences built on farcaster and give people an easier way to build them i don't believe any of this you're an evil company okay so there you go so that was from rish on the note about the drop in daily active users i do wanna point out this this was over on twitter and this was all over my feed on twitter with multiple people commenting something very similar to this it started with ico beast talking about finding myself spending less and less time here crypto content has basically gone to zero most crypto accounts have switched to normie slop or tech slop or call or cloud written articles that are 700 words of empty nothingness and it kinda went on from there zeneca had commented ct has basically gotten worse every year since i started in 2021 and by all accounts it basically got worse every year for a long time before then too geeks mops and sociopaths man once you see it you see it everywhere all the time let me go back to icobeast here because i did think this was really well written empty nothing is about something random barely ever see my friends post because all of the constant algo changes and there's always some random person in my replies asking if a screenshot of a trade setup is an undisclosed shell overall just an utterly terrible user experience this place was awesome six months ago no it wasn't

but the last weeks on here have been almost unusual so this is also related to sort of this changes two things i think the changes that's been made being made on twitter and the algo by nikita and team and some of the things that they have changed in terms of which are to me very positive things but you know they are gonna it's gonna change the experience things like having to disclose when you're doing a paid post which is by the way always been a legal thing

i tell them to do that like now they're enforcing it and people are mad about that the changes of the algorithm for sure that was an issue but actually it feels better to me now so i don't know blocking a lot of ai slop which was a lot of the chatter of crypto twitter so it may feel like oh a lot of that's disappeared but it's actually i think again better you're giving more signal but a lot of people leaving the space like you've had a ton of things shut down wind down people just leaving moving to ai stuff just a ton of major shifts in just i'd say just since the end of last year like november december to now so not even six months mhmm like massive massively and when you lose sort of those people who've been investing a lot of money and paying people to post whether that was disclosed or not but to keep like activity going and sponsoring different podcasts and

twitter spaces and things like that and that disappears you're gonna see a massive shift in what people are talking about one

i so i was trying to fix i finally did some stuff around formcaster the the thing that i created so you can create forms and it pulls the barcaster data in automatically and i was giving access to some folks and some things weren't working so i went in to make some edits but then i couldn't preview it and i couldn't deploy it that was something so this is where i was like i don't know if this is me problem or them problem and then i just kind of went okay we're gonna check this back later so now today i'll go in later today and see now that things seem to be working on my end and try and diagnose like why it's not working for me but i was trying to preview it and then i'm like do i just go ahead and just publish it and not preview it i'm like i feel like i should preview these things first this is me vibe coding things and i have no business doing that speaking of vibe coding

here's what happened this weekend big this is from our friend mike big thanks to everyone who attended today's hackaday hackday hackaday hackday at the nyc coinbase office it's amazing to watch ideas become real apps in such a short amount of time be on the lookout on x and farcaster for the next one thread with highlights and i believe in here it did share some of the things that were built agents built custom t shirt stores economic theory testers march madness games and more we saw openclaw alternatives ens powered identity protocols for agents agentic coding harnesses among other projects small group of builders came together irl to share tips for agent i think that was first building not agent fist building but i'm assuming first opine on the latest rollouts in the crypto space bounce ideas off each other show off what they're building have fun experimenting extra special thanks to igor from banker for co birthing this idea into reality this pilot program warrants another episode stay tuned so very cool farcaster intern asked what was your favorite project and mike said hard to pick just one but my favorite overall takeaway from the day was watching people with no coding background turning their ideas into real apps very fun so that's what i meant by yeah little vibe coding full vibe coding segue there and of course pizza there's always pizza especially when you're in new york into some saddest news clankermon updates starting today will be sunsetting the current version of the platform including the mini app and any game mechanics released to date why sunset it how it will happen what now next why sunset the current version number one it's too expensive to maintain number two it's too slow to develop the first has been killing us slowly for some time the second made it hard to get to a point where we could get out from under number one and when life made it impossible to make progress we sunk under the pressure we had allowed to build up reality is we should have hard paused months ago and allowed ourselves the space to pivot into a sustainable model we didn't and that was my call i was wrong and ultimately my lack of foresight and contingency planning put us in an unwinnable position and for that i am sorry how it will happen starting today the mini app will make it easy to export your assets this will be available until march 28 after this date the primary way to export your assets will be via home.privy.io plus some external migration tools for older users to rescue assets from previous smart wallet iterations etcetera so by the way i would i would recommend that if you have anything in clankermon it's super easy to do few clicks very easy to withdraw any funds you have there any assets like your clankermon nfts all the things super easy to do go do it before march 28 it's gonna be very simple after that it's gonna get a little more complicated so definitely go do that like now not now but wait till after the show but then do that

so last time we had matthew on which wasn't that long ago he and we've had them we had matthew and eric on many times over the past couple years and the last time we had him on he was talking about how they really needed to build their own like basically l three chain of some sort because the cost even on an l two were just too high to make it sustainable so there had to be and and for a lot i mean some of the stuff they were creating was really extensive like even just the animations they would do like they were just really incredibly well done so i'm sure that was taking up a lot of you know resources in presenting it that way so i get it but sad very sad very very sad

yeah yeah just a good guy good yeah you know he and eric were a great team like they were so fun to work with i worked them on you know we did the they had the trivia app too which is so good would love it back but i'm not gonna say anything right now because they're a little busy dealing with this but they were just really good to work with really good to work with in terms of like coordinating and whatever and just really smart thoughtful and i feel bad that they got to this point where they just felt like they couldn't get out from under what they had already built in order to you know get it to where they knew they needed to go in order for it to be successful so yeah it makes me sad for them

there's also market forces that just crush you in you know like if you're hoping that you're you know gonna be able to you know use certain funds in a certain way be and then price drops by half you know like like with ethereum or even you know your own token or whatever right your planning goes out the window so that's unfortunate
