0:08Speaker 0

it was good did a bunch of stuff did some did some things things around the house things in general but i didn't do any traveling you did how was your traveling

0:22Speaker 1

traveling was great saw my sister in northern california did a few days in san francisco

0:30Speaker 1

experienced an earthquake so got the full experience i've got the full sf experience

0:35Speaker 0

oh my god

0:36Speaker 1

how

0:36Speaker 0

was that yeah was it a big one i don't even think i no heard about that okay well that's good big but it

0:43Speaker 1

was in the middle of the night woke me up

0:45Speaker 0

okay did it wake you up mhmm that would be scary so that's my biggest fear of of like natural natural events is earthquakes earthquakes scare me because you can't see them coming like hurricane everyone's like what hurricanes i'm like

1:04Speaker 1

i got a weak crap

1:06Speaker 0

yeah like i got lots of options so yeah that makes me a little nervous but i'm glad you're it was in the middle of the night that's good not as bad but still

1:20Speaker 1

how was your i

1:20Speaker 0

don't like them it was fine nothing too exciting i did have to i did end up doing the show by myself

1:30Speaker 0

because burrowsick so i was by myself and then az flynn came on so that was the only show we did last week but i couldn't remember if i'd ever done it solo before and warpy remembered so i asked warpy and warpy remembered so he's like no yeah you did one one episode one twenty one or something must have been a similar situation where i had somebody lined up and they couldn't make it or something but anyway it was fine i was like adrienne could never could never do this

2:00Speaker 1

i i would never

2:01Speaker 0

she would never she would cancel

2:03Speaker 1

i could never

2:04Speaker 0

she would absolutely cancel oh like this show would have been absolutely canceled today

2:09Speaker 1

i was talking i saw my uncle i by the way unrelated but unrelated i was saw one of my uncles this weekend and every time i get with my family they're always like so what are you up to now what are you

2:19Speaker 0

what are you doing so it's a worse question

2:22Speaker 1

still doing that podcast yes and so one of them shuts me down and says i listened i listened to it he's like from start to end and i'm like end did you jared did you follow what we were talking about

2:36Speaker 0

oh you you did

2:39Speaker 1

i see it he's like you talk about your life

2:45Speaker 1

and i was like what did what he's like yeah you talk about what's going on in your life like i guess i do yeah he was like talk about

2:53Speaker 0

i guess i do

2:54Speaker 1

yeah mongolia i'm like yeah

2:56Speaker 0

ah that was one of the ones oh yeah that was a good one for someone in your family to watch because we did talk a lot about like your travels by the way the tree did you actually drive the car through the tree yes the the redwood that's cool alright i wasn't sure if that was actually like if you actually did it or you just saw it yes so that's cool

3:19Speaker 1

i have the i the picture i i remember that car

3:23Speaker 0

oh okay

3:24Speaker 1

i have pictures of like us driving through it i had my sister get out of the car so we could drive through but i tend not to wanna post pictures of like my face on farcaster people don't people get enough of of this on on twitter funny

3:40Speaker 0

you get enough of us you don't need more

3:42Speaker 1

and then also like when i'm with my kids and kids and stuff like

3:46Speaker 0

i i just yeah i was just i wasn't sure if you actually drove through or if it was like you just drove by it it was like oh that's cool very cool very cool and we have lots to catch up on i have to say we've got a lot a lot going on in the farcaster universe so you guys just buckle up i'm pinning things i'm letting people know we're live but we've got a lot to we've got a lot to catch up on hey hey there we're gonna get right into that in just one moment so let's get this party started for real and we'll be back on the other side of this sixty seven seconds give a retweet give a recast let people know you're watching and we'll see you on the other side of this brief intro

for another episode of gm farcaster

5:11Speaker 2

this episode of gm farcaster is powered by clanker each monday we'll bring you the latest news from the clanker team and highlight the builders innovating with clanker and farcaster visit clinker.world to launch your token and check out all the new features that clanker v four has to offer thank you clanker for sponsoring gm farcaster

5:42Speaker 0

gm farcaster it is a monday april 6 this is our first april show i can't believe it's april already i kind of losing my mind and you are here with nonish professor and adrienne for twenty nine minutes of farcast news to start your day and we were gonna have a guest but our guest has switched next thursday it was gonna be like 1am for them and i was like would you rather have a earlier time like i'm you know we we can do something a little earlier next week if you want and they're like yeah that sounds good so so we're gonna wait on wait on that but it'll just be us today we've got lots to catch up on also we've got a lot of stuff going on with clankr so there's fun things there lots of things to catch up on and friday it was going to be thursday now it's going to be friday at 08:30 a m we'll be on and at nine a m eastern we'll have limone on to talk about farcon so i just wanted to shout that out before i forgot but also i'm down in the future i wanna fly to to go into south africa and do a live show from britannia bay south africa oh okay

7:02Speaker 1

wait you don't have to ask twice

7:04Speaker 0

i mean like okay

7:08Speaker 0

sounds sounds great we we will we are open to being flown places sure sure sure sounds good i

7:16Speaker 1

mean not everywhere

7:17Speaker 0

not everywhere but speaking of we do have some we'll talk a little bit more about farcon rome in just a bit but before that let's get rolling we got stuff to talk about twenty nine minutes of farcaster from our friend brad q twenty nine seconds of farcaster for our friend brad q what did you miss this weekend the farcaster agenic boot camp has gotten rave reviews from some who are attending here are the recordings of materials and far hack unleash the agents a two week hackathon starts today we've got a little bit more about that in just a bit better with burrs ramping up to create more game and prediction events for farcasters march madness one hundred million better wraps up tonight and plans are in the works and seeking input for more ideas they're looking for if you want to collaborate with better with burr check-in with them somebody had a really interesting idea it was jellyfish and it was tequila fueled so you know take that for what it's worth but said how many times we say gm as one of the questions and tagged warpy as the you know oracle and i was like oh that that would work that could work he might be wrong but

8:30Speaker 1

but he'll give an answer

8:32Speaker 0

but he'll give an answer so we'll just make him the oracle i was like oh that would be fun or it could be different words it could be like how many times we say far con in the next couple of months i don't know yeah it's a lot moving on influence is shutting down and we'll talk more about that and elite i'm not gonna say this name right nazuoglu is receiving a lot of love for the tool and community he built around influence a new forecaster feature event in la for this friday and expect others including new york city and sf so keep an eye out we'll talk more about that in just a bit and then of course shouting us out that we are back so let's dive in we've had a few things fridays are for shipping again choo choo the choo choo train's back fantastic so we had an updated search page which now includes many apps so this was from our farcaster intern and arpata two zero five who i'm not following but i am now improved the search results section and added many apps to the search results so now when you search within just the general search you'll get more of what you're looking for let me see if i can do this yeah it's probably not gonna let me let me see i noticed this when i searched word a day

9:52Speaker 1

mhmm

9:53Speaker 0

it did give me the mini app as well as users as well as channel so there you go it's right there as well as well as let's have a word in case that was not what you're working for so there you go very cool this from our farcaster intern as well adding something new in your home free feed i see ymi casts not everything in your feed has to be from today i see ymi is built to surface good casts that are older but still worth your time things like music stories recipes good advice art and interesting discussions if you come across a cast that doesn't belong tag me that's the intern at farcaster we'll be refining what gets surfaced as we go so very cool so those green those green casts like travel ones are really good for this anything with cats and dogs

10:50Speaker 1

things like that

10:54Speaker 0

they're good good for all time zones this from alina ferri attention la this is not a drill drum roll we're hosting a community get together and mini build a thon to test out a new farcaster feature when saturday april 11 where noun coffee and wine in mdr sign up link is there so if you are in the la area you should go head to noun on saturday and there you go this is also now i need a better picture doing that it just it works perfect

11:31Speaker 0

there's gonna be a few of these going on so a few meetups slash build a thons in regards to a new feature which i don't

11:41Speaker 2

think has been shared yet exactly

11:44Speaker 1

but i don't think

11:46Speaker 0

it's been shared yet it's been teased we we don't know what it is

11:50Speaker 1

we the collective we i'm saying

11:52Speaker 0

the collective we it is

11:53Speaker 1

we know we have been we have been we have been teased we might know

11:59Speaker 0

we might know a little bit yeah it's gonna be cool we don't wanna spoil it but there's gonna be some meetups around this particular feature so they you can do a little a little build a thon around it so if you're in la go make sure you rsvp to this look for ones for at least new york and san francisco i believe but there may be others as well i heard something about maybe boston

12:30Speaker 0

there could be others that pop up in europe who knows so just be on the lookout for those soon soon then we had this news introducing the clanker ecosystem fund cef the mission of the cef is to distribute protocol fees to creators and communities who positively contribute to the clanker and farcaster ecosystem 8,000,000 has bought 14% of clanker supply yet has not proven to be an effective use of funds sometime in the next few weeks we'll be redirecting protocol fees back to the ecosystem as well as using it to fund ongoing clanker infrastructure more soon who's running the fun how the splits work and how to get involved clank clank so what we i think we're still in this moment of pause because the the deal is still not final between nader and merkel so as soon as all of that is finalized because the protocol fees are still going to merkle so that's a lot something that's important in this particular conversation so more to come but cool to see this final announcement

13:43Speaker 1

did you look at comments in the replies on here and twitter

13:48Speaker 0

i did i did i saw some of them so i thought that it felt very positive

13:56Speaker 0

i think there's you know a lot of love for this idea and i think it's gonna be super useful buybacks only help so much and what they do really do is when you first do it in the beginning it does push up you know especially the announcement of that that was going to happen it was sort of a you know buy the rumor sell the news kind of situation where it did make it go up a little bit quite a bit actually and then it started to kind of fall back to its probably where it naturally should be based on current demand so we're gonna try something different and we'll see what happens so exciting exciting stuff for those in the clanker ecosystem so if you're building something cool on clanker just be aware that there's some some more support coming

14:48Speaker 1

clanker and forecaster and we've talked about this before but i kind of like seeing less less space between clanker and forecaster

14:58Speaker 0

yeah yep i think this is gonna yeah it's gonna start to feel more seamless i think as the time goes on also saw this clinker and qr.fun win a qr auction with a clinker token so if that's what you're actually doing the auction for and get automatically featured on the clinker.world homepage and token page good tech jake and carter so this is from carter clinker x q r if you want a qr auction with a clinker token it's now featured on the homepage and token page huge extra reach and visibility and also you'll be featured on here because we are partnering with qr as well to give some shout outs to those who are winning the auctions so gonna just do a few for the past week because we did do this last monday but we have wave wars our friends all won an auction very exciting go check that out and you can go backwards in the auction and check out previous winners and highly recommend you do if you missed them we had nexus trading labs on here for $3.90 learn ai this one has been i think a regular auto bid for a little bit so finally finally won one among traders we love that game go check that out if you have not played among traders yet you really should and watch the agents talk to each other as they figure out who did it really fun really fun game go take a peek truth poll i was not familiar with this one so this is a new polling type of app so very cool then we have engagement.tv still not exactly sure what that is but go check that one out and i think this is the most recent one wyde trade what matters and this was one of the one this was the one that was featured on the clanker site as well so we can see it showing up there for view your token there and i think this is the current auction it is go check it out so that was yesterday's winner you can go check that out but also you can come bid on today's auction so right now we've got the laniero portal currently at the top then then volt learn ai condo betterment laser technologies and on and on so go check it out if you wanna do some bidding and if you have a clinker token i'd highly recommend that you think about doing some bidding so there we go bonuses all around alright adrienne we've got to move on to some farcon rome news we've got a few things happening so we had a little switch up and this was from limone slight change we're bringing everything under one roof farcon rome summit is now moving to the same venue as builder's day industri pluviali i know net nose is just losing his mind right now listening to me do these pronunciations same location two days making the whole experience feel more cohesive and easier to navigate across both events industry fluevalley is a post industrial space in austens with multiple floors rooftop terrace and plenty of room to talk build and hang it's super easy to get to close to anstanz station pyramid and test test test testacasio i'm just butchering this just two metro stops from the colosseum if you've already booked your stay near the previous venue you're good the new spot is well connected only two metro stops away feels like the right move and excited for what this unlocks so bottom line was they needed a little they didn't need the full space of the larger venue for the summit day this one was going to work and decided to bring it in so that would be the same space by the way how much do you love the warplets that are hanging out in the space like that's so so cute so so cute so the little warplets are are all around so i think this is gonna be a fantastic venue very excited started thinking about moving closer to that spot but yeah so there you go little little switch up it is a smaller event this year so that makes sense that they didn't need sort of the the larger space so good move and then this we do this just went up this morning it's gonna be open for voting tomorrow we're putting in a prop to purple so if you are in purple dao and you have some voting tokens we'd love your support on this this is to support the media for farcon rome this will go directly to pay for the cost of the a audio visual and then after the fact we'll be doing some editing and clipping and putting all this out there we'll also be doing some interviews on the ground in rome and sharing those as well so purple we'd love your support on this and thanks for your consideration

20:31Speaker 0

also from limone far hack is starting today so they did the boot camp over the past week or two was it two weeks or was it a week two weeks one week one week one week and then the then the hackathon's two weeks so today is an online hackathon to build with barcaster nayanar and privy give your agent a wallet let it operate in the feed coordinate transact and negotiate winners get free tickets for farcon rome and showcase on stage so if you have an agent and you want to unleash them as part of this hackathon go check this out and if you missed the boot camp there is information available if you check out limone's page on farcaster you'll find links back to all of that information so you can learn before you do so you mentioned you were gonna do the hackathon is that something you want

21:29Speaker 1

for something i there's something i've been wanting to build okay and i have not done it and it's it makes a great hack so i wanna see if i can do this as part of the hack

21:41Speaker 0

i'm curious alright i will not be doing this because i just

21:46Speaker 1

and it's not an agent i'm not building an agent but i'm building something

21:50Speaker 0

okay

21:51Speaker 1

a new that will be an interface on farcaster that is also not a mini app

21:57Speaker 0

okay i have no idea what this is that's all i'll say very curious alright alright well i'm looking forward to seeing what you do and hearing back on that we also have the quiz that's still going on so if you're going to far con rome go take the quiz i have been slacking net nose apparently has a perfect score on every single one i don't know why it's weird fourteen day streak very nice the the pantheon is why i love architecture and my first visit has been one of the most emotional experiences of my life oh so there you go so we should probably go there so very exciting go check out the quiz and learn stuff about rome before you go and if you want to learn more or get tickets go to farcon.edu and we'd love to see you there alright gotta get my last group of links open ready to go we've got some builders building things

22:58Speaker 1

you're flying through the news today

22:59Speaker 0

flying flying most of the discussion stuff i put at the end oh so i got a couple of things

23:06Speaker 1

okay

23:06Speaker 0

got a couple of things but it's mostly yeah it's mostly just new stuff it's not too much really happening like i feel like there's a lot of prep for things to happen that's what's been going on but

23:21Speaker 1

we do have

23:21Speaker 0

this news from influence this has been the orange folks we have some difficult news to share no more orange gifs influence is shutting down on april 9 this wasn't an easy decision but it's the honest one we built the first mindshare algorithm on farcaster 1,400,000 plus transactions processed 7,400 plus creators earn 65,000 plus 40 k protocol revenue zero funding after more than a year of building we made the decision to close not because we gave up but because we were honest enough to admit when a chapter ends to every orange gm every creator who earned their first on chain dollar every founder who ran a campaign thank you we left an orange stain on forecaster and base history interesting and nobody can take that away so if you wanna learn more there's a little bit more on twitter feels like a common story we've been hearing a lot lately unfortunately all over the industry not just particular to farcaster whatsoever but there's a lot of different apps different protocols different things that have been shutting down and yeah it's just kinda bear market tings if you will so sorry to see you go but appreciated your efforts for sure this is from az flynn you i don't think did you catch up on the interview yet with az flynn from last week you probably didn't have a chance yet

24:56Speaker 1

not yet no by the way moki is waking up sorry audience

25:03Speaker 0

sorry sorry montoji didn't mean for moki to wake up your dog so we chatted with i chatted with him about the defense of the agents game that he created which is similar to other like world of warcraft and dota and things like that and it's within the mini app but also i think there's a as well if you're not on farcaster but just go play in the mini app and it's cool because you can have your agent playing for you or it will create like a little player for you but it's all being done you know like behind the scenes like you don't have to really do much you can add different traits or choose like how you wanna play and things like that but then it just goes and plays for you but one of the cool things that he's done so far is the dota token he created now has different like it's gonna have different benefits within the game what would the token do but then he also did this which was very cool this was a combo with better and they did a mint for this ring and now the ring automatically shows up in your game if you minted it so with the same wallet so you go into the game and now the little ring is there and it can have different powers so just kind of a cool thing so this is from az flynn a lot of people have come up to me and said they love the the mint mint right in fc go straight to defense of the agents app and the ring shows up right away on your hero microtransactions man people love microtransactions and this was in response to toady saying less than two hours to collect the ring of regen for a dollar usdc on betterment which gives you an instant automatic health buff in dota agents and the chance to spin and win up to a $100 so very cool i love this combo this is a very creative approach and this was also from az flynn come on load for me come on the gaming angle in farcaster is so easy besides the aforementioned a mini app is incredibly easy to integrate it's just extra meta html tags so a game dev doesn't have to build for farcaster build a normal good browser game then tack on farcaster on top it's just like an extra added bonus so love that very cool he gets it this guy gets it so yeah yeah for sure and then it's also he's a great man go ahead

27:39Speaker 1

oh go ahead

27:39Speaker 0

no go ahead

27:41Speaker 1

no i was just saying i he's been bold posting building on farcaster

27:45Speaker 0

mhmm

27:46Speaker 1

i tried saying it was hard to build a mini app and he's like no it's not just do it

27:51Speaker 0

just do it just do it he's like and then also like the you get the you just get a really good group of people to to try your thing yes too and they're gonna give you feedback and they're gonna interact with you and they're also gonna like seeing people they know in the game automatically because the social graph's already there so yeah very cool so good to see this from burr so speaking of collabs in the better better realm this is from better with burr step one add better with burr app step two play word a day by adrienne step three go back to better with burr app and click score me to validate your score anyone who scores 14 plus will win four twenty ks better so very cool love this little collab this is fun and i think there's more coming so go check that out and i keep forgetting to go back to better with burr so i need to get into that routine i slacked a lot last week on my word a day slacked big time

28:58Speaker 1

it's okay the like it's just a game it's just a game it's just a game i was on vacation and one of

29:09Speaker 1

i'm blanking on her full name it's a rita something but her she's been playing word a day and she really likes it and her streak broke but it wasn't her fault like the oh scoring job it was the first it was like the first error it it errored out

29:24Speaker 0

oh no

29:25Speaker 1

so she tagged me and she was like adrienne i lost my streak but i did play what am i gonna do so i ended up i was like i'm on vacation can you just can i look at this when i get home and she was gracious and i reran i re i rescored her so it it's back intact but people really like their streaks yeah it's i don't get it

29:46Speaker 0

i usually don't care but there's certain time i i was liking having my streak yeah it bothered me when i lost it mhmm i don't know people you know it makes you feel a little bit of accomplishment to think oh we

30:00Speaker 1

have a celebrity in the audience oh who's that oh hi it's it's farcaster

30:05Speaker 0

oh it's farcaster in the gm farcaster audience how how fun hello intern good to see you doing a

30:12Speaker 1

great job

30:14Speaker 0

doing a great job we love the intern this from colin at paragraph introducing published new from paragraph gumroad for the agent era upload apps prompts ebooks datasets files and sell to humans and agents alike humans pay with a credit card agents pay with an x four zero two and mpp your next customer might not be a person live now so i'm really curious about this it's a little confusing because it's not exactly

30:51Speaker 0

paragraph it could be paragraph newsletters but it's it's something different right it's a completely different thing so i know you were looking into

31:00Speaker 1

it a little

31:01Speaker 0

bit more than i was so

31:03Speaker 1

yeah well if you're like a newsletter writer you typically want everybody to see it right yeah you want search engines to scrape it you may want llms to scrape it like you the the the more the better but there's a whole business of people you know it's like separately which are kind of tend to be less newslettery but like okay we're going to build assets that someone wants and

31:28Speaker 0

it could

31:29Speaker 1

be data i mean it could be private datasets it could be a a mapping of addresses to usernames could be like you know and then also a lot of like kind of courses and things

31:45Speaker 0

right

31:46Speaker 1

but for us i just know for us because we both we all have paragraph newsletters like we have personal ones we have one for gm forecaster i it's it's hard for me to get wrap my head around like what i'm not seeing an agent wanna pay for what we're putting out

32:01Speaker 0

right right yeah i can't i can't but i can see other i do see other possibilities especially if you're selling skills or making them easily available and and like highlighted

32:15Speaker 1

mhmm

32:16Speaker 0

it might make sense because you could put that code in there i guess could be a little nerve wracking though too i don't know well to see how it plays out it's interesting yeah it's interesting i guess you could also see a world where you have people just using agents to buy things for them where they might just wanna support certain newsletters for some benefit but don't wanna have to go through the hassle of subscribing themselves

32:45Speaker 1

mhmm

32:46Speaker 0

so they could be unleashing agents to do that kind of thing for them i don't know

32:50Speaker 1

yeah i mean i think eventually i mean with i guess with things like the mpp which is the machine payments protocol i think it stands for and x four zero two the idea of microtransactions for internet content makes a lot of sense i mean this is the whole like maybe i don't wanna subscribe to newspapers but i wanna buy an article

33:11Speaker 0

right

33:12Speaker 1

right and it doesn't really make sense if you should do credit card payments right but if you can pay a few pennies for an article and it's seamless like

33:20Speaker 0

that's a good point there's been so many times when that's happened to me where i'm like i don't wanna subscribe but i would pay you a dollar or $2 for this hour

33:29Speaker 1

your paywall like have fine but i don't really wanna subscribe to everything

33:34Speaker 0

right yeah i do think that has a lot of promise so i can see that as a possibility for certain content for sure

33:42Speaker 1

did you see i experimented with x402 last week

33:45Speaker 0

i did i didn't quite understand what you did but yes i did share that but what exactly did you do with the x four zero two like what were you actually putting a payment on

34:00Speaker 1

the idea it's like a warpy

34:02Speaker 0

okay

34:02Speaker 1

imagine it's like imagine asking warpy it's not a full blown warpy yet but it was basically if you want to know something about gm forecaster there's an endpoint you can ask it a question it will search our transcripts and it will return back answers with like links to videos like past episodes to source it so it's a

34:23Speaker 0

very

34:23Speaker 1

primitive warpy code like okay it's answer answer a question based on transcripts

34:30Speaker 0

and it was so essentially so that the agent would pay to do that yes

34:36Speaker 1

it is okay yeah i know alright point one penny okay per transaction so you can ask it a question it is a tenth of a cent and you'll get an answer alright you can also just tag warpy and forecaster and he'll answer you and he'll give you a better answer but human really really want not even an agent agent don't be agents i i really wanted to experiment with x four zero two

35:04Speaker 0

yeah

35:05Speaker 1

idea of putting something behind a paywall right that is that is crypto native and permissionless and what would that look like so the only i was just thinking like what's an api i could do and we have the concept of our of our warpy bot so i just started building that out so it was actually cool it was pretty easy to do with yeah with qualcomm and i'm the only one who tested it so i have i i have i've i've earned myself point 1¢ but i also paid for it

35:39Speaker 0

it's not really useful but i was also hoping

35:41Speaker 1

that i was also hoping devs on forecaster might just help play with like testing

35:46Speaker 0

yeah just to try it yeah interesting sorry i don't have an agent or i would okay okay interesting moving on a few more things to to shout out here this from rainbow you can now turn any perp trade into a shareable p and l card in just a few seconds tap any trade in your history pick your card and share it and the reason i'm sharing this is how cute are the images so cute yon crushed it this was my brent oil one no please note like i only you know it was very small it was very small trade but yeah super super cute i love the little gadoopy guy so really fun go check it out and you can share them on farcaster this from john coogan we didn't get a chance to talk about this yet

36:42Speaker 1

oh this is the discussion we're gonna do

36:44Speaker 0

this is the discussion parts i can do your discussion parts now this is from john coogan over on twitter tbpn has been acquired by openai the show is staying the same and will continue to go live 11am pacific every weekday it's not exactly staying the same there's one big difference this is a full circle moment for me as i've worked with samah for well over a decade he founded my first company in 2013 then helped us fix a serious log jam during a critical funding round a few years later when i took my second company through yc that's

37:20Speaker 0

why why am i forgetting what it is yc yc y combinator y combinator i was like what is the y for y combinator

37:28Speaker 1

y is

37:28Speaker 0

for he was y is for y he was president at the time and then when i joined founders fund the first deal i saw in motion was the post chat gpt round in late twenty twenty two and as we started growing db tvpn last year he was the very first lab lead to join the show thank you to everyone who has been a part of tvpn until now the last year has been the most fun and rewarding part of my career and we're excited to have more resources than ever going forward so one big change is that they no longer have that running list of advertisers mhmm just the just the one now no need for that so advertisers if you're missing an opportunity to share your brand on a great new show here we are so

38:22Speaker 1

yeah ramp ramp give us a call

38:25Speaker 0

give us a call give us a little call we'd love to have you and this is from rish the future where every company is a media company so there was a lot of interesting discussion about this acquisition

38:41Speaker 0

if you read that tweet you can kinda see why it happens it's not like they were unknown quantities to openai you know what i mean it wasn't it didn't come out of nowhere they have an existing relationship that's pretty close to begin with so and that has been one of the reasons they've been so successful in grabbing mindshare and the audience that they've been able to is because of the existing connections which you know good for them like that's great we love dylan by the way dylan's in the background doing the producing and so shout out dylan everscuto i never pronounce his last name right so dylan you know dylan so congratulations to them great job it's you know fun to see that happen but i don't think everyone i don't know that i agree with the every company is a media company concept as much as i'd love to i think yes you do need a media strategy but that doesn't mean necessarily everyone needs their own podcast if that makes sense but maybe you disagree

39:55Speaker 1

well podcast doesn't mean media right right like there's many forms of of media

40:00Speaker 0

what i mean yeah it doesn't have to be the same you don't have to have your own daily show mhmm but should you want that

40:08Speaker 1

i just hi

40:10Speaker 0

we're right here

40:14Speaker 1

i that kind did you check whether it's april 1 when he posted it yes yeah it was unexpected to me yeah

40:20Speaker 0

it was it was also unexpected in the timing i think because it was fairly quick but after i thought about it i'm like yeah this is not that surprising when i think about it so mhmm but but i did double check i was like is this real i'm like oh yeah this is real

40:38Speaker 1

what do you feel about their claims of being independent

40:41Speaker 0

i think it's independent i think it remains to be seen i think we'll have to see how it plays out and how they present news if if it's still you know if they still have people from anthropic coming on and other competitors then sure and i would guess that they probably would but i you know we'll see we'll see i think there's always going to be that lens that you're you're looking through from i think it's hard not to have a little bit of a bias i think it's it's hard mhmm so i'm sure they'll they will but i think that bias was already there so i don't know if it's necessarily gonna change anything right so if that makes sense because they already had that close connection but i

41:32Speaker 1

mean like we're not owned by farcaster but i'm extremely farcaster biased so what does that mean

41:38Speaker 0

yeah i know that's what i mean so i don't know that it necessarily changes anything but we're also been critical when we need to be critical so we can't own our you know and so i would assume that's tough love yeah and i assume that's i think we'll see something similar with them they don't strike me as you know just glazing for glazing sake kind of thing

42:03Speaker 1

you know

42:03Speaker 0

what i mean so but

42:04Speaker 1

they were being presented as like the cnbc for tech

42:08Speaker 0

yeah

42:09Speaker 1

is that right i think that becomes harder to it becomes a a harder sell but i also think of the every company's tech like a media company maybe maybe this like general purpose media is not what works right now and every everything's an attention game and a mind share and

42:32Speaker 0

i think you can look at this as you know were they already beholden to their existing advertisers so it's the same kind of thinking of like is this gonna color your bias is it gonna get you cross bias or not and it's hard to know until you see it play out like it i think if you see and and also they have no obligation to not be biased by the way they can say they do but they don't have any legal obligation mhmm you know as long as they disclose who is you know sponsoring them that's the only legal obligation they're not required to present both sides or anything like that unlike you know organizations that are under the regulation of the fcc which is different so you do have that some regulations around that for things like abc nbc cbs which is a whole different ballgame but also see what's happening there

43:34Speaker 0

so we're in a we're in an interesting world i do think that finding media those who are good at media i think it's important to have those people as part of your part of your arsenal

43:50Speaker 1

mhmm

43:51Speaker 0

because you just you need that and you're still gonna need that you can you can try to replace with ai but it's not quite there yet it's just not so you can you can try and go that direction but it's not it's not smooth it's very obvious and now there's starting to be some pushback on that so be careful as much as i like some of the ai slop some of it's very good just you know has to be it has to be really good

44:16Speaker 1

what was the name of that ai slop account that came to forecaster to do news videos with the cleavage i call it the cleavage slop right they they i've been seeing them on my twitter feed recently i forget i didn't wanna i

44:30Speaker 0

haven't seen them i haven't seen them in a while and i don't remember yeah i know what you're talking about and i can't remember what they were or what they are i haven't seen them in a long time but yeah they were doing news and it was ai news and yes they yeah it was ai news filled with cleavage for a particular audience there you go guess who's

44:53Speaker 1

here and guess who's not

44:57Speaker 0

still here still here hanging on by

45:01Speaker 1

a thermostat still here but the news is still coming

45:06Speaker 0

we have great cleavage we just don't show it it's not our brand anyway moving on moving on couple more things this was interesting and i don't know if you read this but this was super interesting from at jack over on twitter jack dorsey talking about the change how they're changing block and talking about basically removing middle management completely and replacing it with ai so this was sort of the ending paragraph which i actually summed it up really well companies move fast or slow based on information flow hierarchy and middle management impede information flow for two thousand years from the roman contemporaneum to today's global enterprises we have no real alternative eight soldiers sharing a tent needed a decanis 80 men needed a centurion 5,000 needed a legate the question was never whether you needed layers the question was whether humans were the only option for what those layers do they aren't anymore block is building what comes next this was really an interesting read and also proof yet again that men are always thinking about the roman empire half of this article

46:37Speaker 1

totally

46:38Speaker 0

is about to it's very interesting but it's about like the roman army and the way they set up to share information in their hierarchy and how that has that hierarchy has been like used in so many other organizations over time and i was like i had never thought about that because i don't think about the roman empire twenty four hours a day but it was very interesting and it makes it i think it's gonna be i think it's an interesting experiment and like let's see how it works out because i'm sure there's many things that haven't been thought of yet that might cause some issues but it also may be a much more efficient model i have no idea yeah so remains to be seen did you happen to read this by chance i didn't read it you were no in case shane you should i think you would enjoy it i would suggest like go give it go give it a read because it was like i said it was educational but it was really interesting the way they're thinking about sort of the future of work and i you know i think it's important everyone kinda see where some of these folks are going because it's gonna cause a lot of disruption but anyway

47:57Speaker 0

this from

47:58Speaker 1

i do i do agree with i just i do but i do agree with the premise about the flow of information speed of information flow

48:05Speaker 0

yeah

48:06Speaker 1

being yeah

48:10Speaker 1

yeah for sure interesting there's a in software architecture there's this famous law called conway's law

48:18Speaker 0

okay i don't

48:18Speaker 1

know if you've read it i'm sure i've talked i'm sure i've talked about it at some point in our hours of

48:23Speaker 0

you might have been ask for it

48:25Speaker 1

but basically it's like the idea that your soft the architecture of your software mirrors the architecture of your organizational layout

48:34Speaker 0

okay that makes sense

48:37Speaker 1

and because it's like how you build and this was like whether or not you know it's like if you have a decentralized and distributed organizational layer you're more likely to have distributed decentralized like microservices and lots of independent apps versus if you're more monolithic you have a monolithic architecture or things like that so it is interesting like what do what does it mean when you have agents involved building the software and how do agents communicate because what's the i don't know it's just always like what's the point of an organization right it's do something right and why would an so who's directing that there's still gotta be someone directing like the purpose of an organization right

49:19Speaker 1

does there that's interesting

49:21Speaker 0

that's the question i mean i yeah i would think there has to be a person at some point but how much and how far and at what point can somebody you know what i think it's i think we're at this point of like what are the particular positions or layers that can be replaced with ai in an in create an efficiency but also how much what does that cost not only like because you still have costs involved in that and you have to figure out what that cost is and is it actually better than humans because that might become a whole other part of this as well so interesting we shall see but i'll be i'm keeping an eye on that just because i found it very interesting we'll see how they do okay moving on we got a couple more things this from zoe hey builders if you have a mini app and want it to work in the base app after april 9 so that's coming up this week here's a quick checklist to follow the quick gut check does your app work in a mobile browser with a connected wallet and no farcaster context if yes you're good we covered the full scope of changes in our earlier post three things to check off and where to go if you need help one register on base.dev if you haven't already create a project at base.dev and fill in your app metadata this is how the base app surfaces your app for search and discovery if you registered previously your metadata has already been backfilled and you don't need to do anything here two switch to sign in with ethereum the farcaster sdk sign in method won't work in the base app after april 9 the replacement is sign in with ethereum using a wagmi or a vm your app authenticates through the connected wallet address instead of a farcaster identity this is the biggest change for most builders the migration docs walk through the full step with the code examples three audit your farcaster sdk usage if you're using other farcaster sdk the migration docs include a full compatibility table with the docs include a full compatibility table with the replacement for each method and as always you can always check environment to gate farcaster only functionality using the is in mini app hook so there you go and there's all the details have you had to do any of this yet or did you already or

51:55Speaker 1

i've not done anything for this okay i'm not sure which mini apps we necessarily need slash want working in the base app it feels like community has been fractured a little bit like yeah that most of our gm forecaster from like a community perspective is using the forecaster app

52:14Speaker 0

right

52:17Speaker 1

so i haven't prioritized and and like even our mini app has been on base app like it was active i i still didn't feel like i was getting a ton of like community engagement that there so i have not prioritized it and then other mini apps like the lora app or this or there i just don't think there's enough usage to yeah make this a big priority word a day won't work

52:40Speaker 0

it won't okay

52:43Speaker 1

so the

52:43Speaker 0

question because you have to cast you have to cast and yeah so that makes sense

52:47Speaker 1

well you have to cast and you have to have a wallet a farcaster wallet right like it doesn't you're it's sign you sign in with your farcaster user so i could make the argument okay well i can make this compatible with the base app but i've decided i think i'll prioritize twitter first that was kind of next on the road map like i'll i'll look at the base app as just another connector that

53:08Speaker 0

you can

53:08Speaker 1

play the game on eventually we can build it but it may just not be by april 9

53:13Speaker 0

that makes sense i was thinking about that like form when i created the formcaster the whole point was that it captures your farcaster info so it doesn't make sense to

53:24Speaker 1

right so you just sign up with ethereum and capture an ethereum wallet but it's been but you don't have the social context

53:31Speaker 0

right so it's not and it's also the point was that it would just capture it so that you don't have to like fill things in and connect and all that so i was trying to avoid connect wallet just so that we don't run into any issues with that or any you know potential hack or whatever so anyway

53:53Speaker 1

the base app should support farcaster is what i'm saying

53:56Speaker 0

i think it was i get what you're saying i will say this though everything has not worked smoothly in that transition so you always had to go back and sign in with barcaster to use it in the base app so it was clunky so i kind of get doing this i really do

54:15Speaker 1

right and then and i've heard you say that but it's somehow i've never noticed that like i never i feel like i never needed to was it every time i don't know

54:23Speaker 0

yeah every time i had to do it it it every time it would make me go backwards and then sometimes that sign in was funky

54:30Speaker 1

right

54:31Speaker 0

i think if the app didn't have any like if you didn't have if it didn't need to read your wallet or anything it was fine but like so certain apps it probably

54:42Speaker 1

didn't request it yeah kinda like when you go to the forecaster web app yeah you have to authorize your wallet yes you have to sign in with your phone

54:51Speaker 0

yes

54:52Speaker 1

i never know that okay

54:53Speaker 0

yeah so it was similar to that so so it doesn't it didn't happen with every single mini app mhmm but with a lot of them it did so i get i get the change up i get the change

55:04Speaker 1

up right

55:06Speaker 0

okay lastly i wanted to ask you about this because this was interesting you had shared this article and as part of it and this was on token dispatch the token dispatch and it was really interesting because what it was talking about was the idea of how base was a place not necessarily a thing and it was like almost acting like a third space but then people left the place and are coming back so then it feels vacant so it's interesting but it talked about farcaster in there saying farcaster is the closest crypto has come to building it and this is kind of what i was thinking was like around this idea of a third space because a specific group of people built a specific culture on top of it builders sharing work arguing about ethereum forming opinions about each other over months that that takes time and it cannot be replicated by a competitor offering higher rewards friendtech tried to incentive incentivize i said version of the same idea it peaked in a week and died in a month same mechanic not the same mechanic i disagree with that part no culture the difference was not the product it was a question of whether anyone stuck around long enough for something to form they're talking about decentralized social in general and i just disagree with like frontec was very different it was a very different type of mechanic and i i have seen this comparison before with farcaster and frontek and they're just completely different because the idea with frontek was that you would get access to certain people by holding their token like mhmm that has that's no similar mechanic on farcaster whatsoever so anyway i did appreciate the shout out to farcaster in terms of this and talking about places i thought that was an interesting point so what did you take away from this like you had you had posted this so what was your yeah

57:16Speaker 1

and i feel like they the the article brought up like it was like a japanese word for this kind of third place where

57:22Speaker 0

yeah

57:22Speaker 1

the the the the place becomes the place because of the people like if they're not separate things

57:30Speaker 1

and and kind of analyzing base whereas like created the place but didn't kind of have this the this the the culture built in

57:42Speaker 0

and this was baso baso yeah yeah and it was where

57:47Speaker 1

are you at it's let tell us loosely yeah

57:49Speaker 0

i know talking loosely translated it means place but philosopher philosopher kitaro nishida meant for it to be something much harder to pin down than location more like a condition the field in which things became themselves through it so interesting mhmm and goes on to talk about that and talking about base itself mhmm yeah so continue what were you like

58:16Speaker 1

oh so i thought it was like an a fair assessment of of kind of the events on base of the past year

58:25Speaker 0

yeah

58:27Speaker 1

token dispatch is like a daily newsletter they write like i i really like it it comes too often but that was a good one and i was reading it and i just i yeah i appreciated the farcaster shout out because it does feel

58:44Speaker 1

yeah for better or worse i mean forecaster does feel different than other

58:48Speaker 0

yeah

58:49Speaker 1

social places and it's like certainly i don't know if that's just my bias because i happen to find my place personally or my people but it does i don't know it's i think it also means why even in like the there's still people sticking around there's still people still building yep and yeah i don't know nice

59:10Speaker 0

yeah it was it it's a really good it's a good read and and a great yeah it was a nice little shout out and i think that thinking of farcaster as a third as a as a third space is a good thinking in my mind if that's what it feels like and you have people who are you got the locals who are there every day you know who are always there at the bar norm and then you've got the ones who come in and out you know visitors

59:39Speaker 0

and you have the people who used to hang out there all the time but they've been gone for a while that's every once in a while they pop back in so it does feel like all of that like it does feel like that mhmm so anyway it was interesting we have some questions about the mini app

59:59Speaker 0

do do do do

60:02Speaker 0

just yeah make sure by the ninth i think is what what is going on in the chat yeah by the ninth is when you need to make that migration for for the base app so if you have a mini app on the base app and you wanna make sure it's still gonna continue to work properly make sure you go check that out by the ninth and if you go look for soe's

60:28Speaker 0

cast and it's also on twitter you'll see all that information there exactly what you need to do so go check that out alright adrienne that's it alright not bad for a week of news hundred minutes anything else that i may have missed

60:51Speaker 1

i think we covered it all

60:53Speaker 0

we know there's something coming this week so be on the lookout make sure you're following the farcaster account on both twitter and farcaster that is the farcaster intern they'll be keeping us posted on whatever comes next alright

61:11Speaker 1

yeah so someone watching from france just put my first solana frame is a what is a solana frame tell us more is that a mini app are you talking about a mini app on forecaster is it a solana mini app on forecaster drop the name curious

61:26Speaker 0

yeah let us know let us know so we can go check it out dude had the same question what is a solana but let us know because there used to be you can thing called frames you can build on you can build on solana you can build many apps on solana

61:41Speaker 1

mhmm

61:41Speaker 0

on farcaster so it is possible we are excited for this week as well forecaster intern we're very excited so there will be lots coming down the pike make sure you're paying attention and we will be back on friday at 08:30am eastern and at 9am eastern we have limone who's gonna be popping by to talk about farcon rome

62:08Speaker 0

who is the farcaster intern that is the question don't know

62:13Speaker 1

it's the intern managing the farcaster account

62:15Speaker 0

it's the intern yeah it's the intern managing the farcaster account that's who they are yeah but give them give them some shout outs we we love the we love the intern vibes we love the intern vibes alright adrienne anything else for today that we should be that i missed

62:35Speaker 1
