because they're really fun it's bringing another new little energy to the to the place so very exciting before that i wanted to just chat about this and fill you in on my class the other day so i'm back to teaching for a couple more weeks and this was week four we started with some law around law and regulations the fun stuff and then while we were talking the week before i got them set up on rainbow and they had to make some decisions around perps and predictions because i fund them some wallets they have about $20 worth of eth they have to do some swapping into usdc learn how to swap all those kinds of things and then they had to allocate $5 to predictions dollars 5 to perps and make some decisions there so while we're in class
we start looking at their predictions and one of them involved a ceasefire during class and all of a sudden it started to jump up straight up

in class like while class is going on like i just looked at this earlier today and it was up a little bit but now it's really starting to spike and and then someone else had that was in predictions in polymarket and then someone else had a long on for oil and started to see that go down and start to lose there and i was like okay let me explain something now it's time to explain to you what happens when people who actually know what's going on start putting bets in on these things putting purpose in prediction markets so that was wild to watch that live and then also have to explain hey look at the rules on any predictions because you might want to just get out before it fully resolves because there's a chance that it says two parties must agree mhmm so this ceasefire and never know what's gonna happen with that part but it was wild it was wild to like see that all go down in real time and to have them be able to actually experiment with it has been really fun and see how they you know think about this and yeah yeah so it's been so that was wild that was wild to see that all going down live

lot happening there's been a lot going on so that is one of the bigger things with the farcaster acquisition has been pending since december they started having these conversations in december it's finally closed so it took a long time and it sucked a lot of energy out of the ecosystem that hopefully now is returning so glad to see all this done i think one of and i didn't pull this cast but one of the things that rish mentioned or some or it was i think it was actually a snap that talked about the acquisition was the farcaster treasury and the clanker treasury was not part of the deal so we're starting you know they're starting back at zero

clank clank moving on this was interesting to see i have no idea who i rule trenches is over on twitter but they've been talking a lot about clanker and there was a couple tweets that i wanted to highlight this was one this was from miyamoto this huge huge announcement from neynar and clanker world has been flying under the radar i'm starting to rebuild a heavy position in clanker d n f a d y o r the og launchpad on fat on base alongside virtuals it played a key role in shaping base's on chain market and kick starting its early momentum with nayanar acquiring clanker and farcaster and steering a new direction i think the protocol is finally back on the right path aiming to reclaim reclaim lost market share and push far beyond it the launch of the cef clanker ecosystem fund is a strong first step redirecting value back into the ecosystem supporting builders and attracting new launches what stands out consistent anti fragility the team kept building through all conditions 8,000,000 plus spent on buybacks 14% of supply while others were dumping now shifting toward smarter capital allocation infra and ecosystem growth the cef's mission is clear well we really haven't fully discussed it yet but okay okay root protocol fees back to creators and communities actively contributing to clanker and far gazzeter i mean it's clear but no

actually let me just do this one i'll do this one from the farcaster intern that shared what snaps are a little bit come on load for me don't worry it's not farcaster it's me all right introducing snaps a new primitive for the feed buttons sliders inputs toggles charts grids images polls games transactions all live and interactive inside a cast easy to build powerful to use explore what's possible with snaps and this little snap itself gives you a look at what exactly is involved with the snap it gives you the body size the defaults for paragraphs images etc the different types of buttons that you can have forms you can actually add in a little form we have submission buttons as well different buttons here that you can add here

hey yeah thanks for having me on
thanks for being here so talk about like where this idea came from what how did the team decide to move this into production and what you've been sort of testing out in the background while while we've been while we've been talking about this redacted thing
in some ways snaps is something we've
been thinking about for a long time possibly even before i joined nayanar there's this idea floating around it's not like unique to us or we're we're the first or anything but there every social network has something special with it that's uniquely enabled by the technology that was available when it was starting like instagram is big because cell phones have cameras without cell phone cameras instagram doesn't really work and tiktok is big because cell phones got good enough to shoot video and like there's enough bandwidth and you can just do it and the algorithms got good enough and so there's nothing like that yet for ai there's no like cool new social network that is like you need maybe maybe boldbook but i don't use i don't human it's not for humans
not for humans
but there's something cool about being able to create these apps that work in the feed like really easily with ai just like code up a cool experience so that's like one idea another idea of course is like frames frames is a lot of fun people really liked it and just like all these ideas have been bubbling around we've been talking about it and then we had the team on-site a few weeks ago we were all talking about this idea and like finally it was coming together it was taking shape and then after the on-site we just like had this crazy like nonstop sprint to ship the first version of this and yeah we wanted something that was simple enough that people can play with it they can make something cool really quickly but also not so constrained that there's only like three or four things you can do with it and that's kinda how frames came together

but that kind of speaks to like we went from frames and for those who weren't here at that time it was more it was a like very simple version of what we call mini apps but you can only do a couple things this feels like it's in between snaps feels like it's in between frames and mini apps would you say that's true or how would you characterize
i think of them as a different kind of application like you you know how with with pictures you have like jpeg and png and gif or whatever so then you have applications you have mini apps you have snaps snaps are another kind of application that you could embed into a cast like you can embed images into a cast you can embed snaps into a cast
so adrian you've already created a couple snaps so what did you think of the process of creating
i i cannot stress enough how easy it was and i don't know
it was like a one shot one shot prompt

what is the server it's on grend it's a is it hono or something what is is it
that's the server that sets it up and we did a lot of work in the background to make it like we handle as much as possible and then when you create it you just create like the logic for it
like i've never heard of that before i was not familiar with that so like in the but i didn't need to learn it it was like really i was like okay and then so it was like pass claude your skill claude was also really good at coming up with ideas for like okay here's the primitive what can i make with it and i kinda fed in these are things i like but it was it it's really easy to to make them
i hope they keep getting easier i saw you cass with something like oh it took me i don't know twenty minutes to make this happen

it to take twenty seconds like that's what the
alright so rich from like i i know he's been kinda talking about app like apps as content like or or software as content and then i i don't even think that wasn't rich but a lot of people have been talking about kind of software as a content type so i imagine this is kind of the manifestation of that vision of like oh come to farcaster and kind of the special content are apps or it's like kind of software i made a joke i think it was rabinowitz who said that they made a snap in fifteen minutes they did yeah funny because people were asking like is that long or short and it's like no one has any memory how long it used to take to make apps like that is short from from like never having heard of a spec until like it takes that long just to like i don't know just like click the buttons it's not like anyway so yeah that was short so i re i quote casa and said it took me twenty minutes and it was kind of like a self deprecating joke that i'm not as smart but like it what it didn't mean mean anything and rich was in my dms like what what what went wrong
why did
we do better why did it take that long and i was like i actually didn't take that long and most of the the actual half of that time cutting was just me iterating on like the ui like oh actually i was doing a free compliment one and i had i wanted to add additional compliments because it kept giving me the same one i'm like so no i am sorry twenty minutes was too long for you guys
well it's both
but i think it's both very quick and i think could be much faster like i bought i want it to be like taking a photo like taking a photo and attaching it like that quick
and grin frames v one the only way it rendered were images right like your ui was you had to provide a an image and is that and then there were kind of buttons that you could associate and they were really heavy like it or it felt heavy when you were using them because images had to render i imagine because this is ui elements and a lot of text it's and kind of more html it's gonna run is that why they feel snappy snappier

that why they feel better in the feed
we learned a lot from what was hard about frames you go on which was this like it's only an image it's using these html headers to communicate whereas the technology has improved a lot since then and the output of snaps is this thing called json render it's it's just json so it's just text it's like a smaller version of html maybe like a very simple version but it's it's really json and it's cool because you can get ais to generate these things very easily so today we're seeing snaps that are like it's known upfront what all the pages look like but something i wanted to make this morning i haven't had time is you can you can make the uis on the fly like they can be in a ui that you've never seen before that comes out of a snap that was created by an llm
how long has json render been around
it's pretty new vercel has been pushing it for the last four to six months maybe
okay do you know anyone using it like is it or i guess it's brand new right so the i and is the idea like these are like it's a kind of llm native language or it's lighter than html
if you're talking to an llm and it like creates this ui for you on the fly that's what json render is meant for oh
okay so it's meant to be kind of text based rendering now that when i see the llms give diagrams and things
yeah and you give it a catalog of like this is what's available this is how to use all these things what they might be used for and the lm is like oh yeah sure bar chart we want a bar chart and then the styling is all taken care of by someone else which is us in this case
right very cool and there
are certain limitations on like color and things like that that you guys have set for the snaps so what can you talk a little bit about like what were those choices and why for folks who maybe don't understand like what the different elements
why there's more than purple yeah
why clearly a mistake we're getting rid of
the numbers
we're actually we're already on version two we shipped version two last night
yeah that's right actually yeah
so the there's two i think big reasons to have these constraints one is that it's it looks more more coherent in the feed like when you look at a bunch of different things in the feed it can easily be too much whereas if we just say here's a couple colors you can use we we even just use names for colors like we might change what the actual colors look like to make them look more coherent that's simpler and then the second reason is that it's much easier to add than to take away especially because this is a bit of a protocol people rely on it when they make apps they want them to continue to work and it and we're moving pretty fast on it because we wanna figure out what is working and what people like so it's much easier to start with less and add than it is to start with a big open thing and then realize that all this stuff doesn't really work and it looks discordant on the fee and we wanna get rid of it and but people already wanna use it
and then in terms of what the updates were last night just pulling up that cast most of that was it seemed visual like the way it looked the look and feel within the feed is what i took from a lot of this but you may have some other points here so this is from marish new client updates better visual separation to clearly encase snaps in a cast latest snap spec requires fitting it fitting in a certain height older snaps are fine and still work see video if building a new snap nothing additional needed the skill is already updated to build with the right spec docs have a page now on how to upgrade your snap but it's not required feel free to reply with any questions also taking ideas on what to add to snaps next one thing i noticed last night was some of the renders were getting weird and funky and huge and i think that was while the change was being you know when the upgrades were going in but it seems like it's all adjusted now so
it's mostly adjusted but if i just spoke these bugs i actually just cast this morning i want to know about them so drop them in the in the replies for my cast and i'm working today on fixing the last remaining things
okay great i did see a couple things but i think they've fixed now so that must have been while i was switching over yeah
the main switch over is look and feel it's things we actually wanted to do originally but didn't get to before we released it but yeah it is like some of them were too long some of them were just like had a lot of stuff going on and we're gonna keep tweaking this to make it look good and there were a few under the hood changes to make it easier for us to keep making upgrades to make it more secure and our goal with this stuff is to make it as easy as possible for people to stay on top of this using llms again like there's there's instructions for you you could just be like use the scale and upgrade my snap to the latest version and it'll handle it

grin just for more of like the going back to the technical stuff because i find this really interesting to understand so the way i understand it is from like a forecast or protocols perspective if you look at like the what makes up a cast i'm sending just a url so it's an embed as just a url it's what's in whatever i'm hosting the client whatever it's receiving right from that link to knows how to render it because it's coming back using this json render so other clients can implement this can implement it have and they oh right and they can and they can chew they can change the ui a little bit it's like oh the buttons that are coming back i don't want rounded corners i want square corners oh this turquoise button i'm actually gonna make turquoise you know navy whatever so it's like the the the ui can change but all the elements are the same
and it's not the start of other clients like other clients have slightly different colors but the the snaps can still look good in however they present it
so this was snaps are live on duke audio that is nikki sapp's new client so i know it's already available there and i haven't checked other clients to see how they're rendering have you gone through to see what they look like at all and how is everything sort of flowing
i have not i've looked at these screenshots and they look good to me and i've been talking with nikki i'm sure that if something was broken he'd let me know he actually has sent me some feedback that made its way into the update last night

so yeah we're we're we want this stuff to be simple we release components where it's like just put this component into your code and it will render it but yeah like adrian was saying if you want something more custom it's totally available snapster they lean a lot on the http spec like they use http headers they return json they have content negotiation a lot of this stuff is very hopefully easy to integrate

so since you're not logged out maybe that was updated in the skill but the maybe when i asked when you when it was like share it just shared the url it didn't add it to the embed collection

oh wow okay amazing and this was so day eight you had a town on talking about going viral on farcaster you had yesterday talking about ai and ethereum and agents identity and eight zero zero four what have been some of the sessions that you've been like really excited about or things that you've seen during the boot camp that got you excited
i think the one by atown that that you mentioned was one of one of my favorites first of all because i love emerge and all the mechanics that they built within the agent and the mini app you know like it's it's incredible and and i think in in that session you know like usually at this boot camp we always focus on how to build this how to build that but then there's always a component of okay we need to distribute this we need to find users and and and so that that's why i liked the that session in particular because shared a bunch of insights and learnings on on their journey in making emerge vital and and discoverable on forecasting so what's kind of an outlier with respect to the other ones that that that we had before
i love that and yeah because distribution dream right just rules everything around me and now we have farhack that started this started a couple days ago unleash the agents two weeks online hackathon to build with farcaster naynard and privy give your agent a wallet let it operate in the feed coordinate transact negotiate winners get free tickets for farcon rome and a showcase on stage so are you seeing any entries yet for this how do people participate if they've been hacking
so we we will be announcing a first check-in for this weekend actually on on sunday i'm planning to i mean i think i would release the form today and i will put a deadline for a first check-in submission on on sunday and and in this way i will get a taste of what people are are working on what people are are building so far i know that somebody are building agents of course somebody is building snaps as well because we also added one of the one of the trucks about snaps in particular
so yeah it's still a black box so i didn't have time to to check with everybody how they are doing but it's it's the plan for the week and then the and next week i think we're also gonna do some you know since the boot camp is ending today we still might wanna do some mentorship or i don't know like early feedback sessions next week so that we can make sure that people ship something cool

we def we definitely need to push more i've i've been so so it's down on the boot camp that i i was only communicating about it but we we started receiving some applications in the in the past few days and and they are also diverse we have some about ai some about design some about community some musicians that want to talk about their experience on you know growing on forecaster
what i'm really looking for besides like the talk so i also extended the the form to accept demos as well so that we can have both like let's say six talks but also like six demos from builders that want to showcase maybe something that they've been working on and so i'm i'm i don't know yet like what that right now may mean for but of course all these calls and demos will be voted by the community as it happened last year i thought it was a a really cool way of you know involved with the community in cocreating also part of the agenda so picking their most favorite or interesting thoughts and and demos and and that's why i we we decided to repurpose it for for this year edition as well

nobody said it was a scientific poll alright moving on this from my friend jake to be honest i had no idea what a meta aggregator was but after nonlinear won today's auction for attention q r on for attention qr fund i took a few minutes to learn three things to aggregators meta aggregators and spandex aggregators monitor liquidity across multiple dexs to find the best price for swapping reduce slippage and facilitate more complex swaps swaps meta aggregators monitor across multiple aggregators to offer similar benefits but at one level higher removing centralized risks of a single aggregator being down or broken or just worse compared to other aggregator to another aggregator kinda wanna build a meta meta aggregator now spandex is a fully customizable developer friendly and open source meta aggregator library that means developers can inspect and contribute to the code base decide which aggregators to include configure settings and tailor the functionality to their specific use case wait this kind of this is kind of like a meta meta aggregator actually holy meta aggregation alright so i was reading this because it served two purposes one we got to highlight spandex and get an explanation of exactly what it is which was very helpful thank you jake and then also showing off that the what qr has been doing and we've been working with them to help share their folks who win the auction including spandex which was the recent one but also you can go bid on the auction right now or join a bid and it looks like betterment's making a play here so if you wanna go join the betterment bid you can right now few couple hours left two hours and seventeen minutes on this auction so go check it out
this was really interesting so we had earlier miyamoto talking about clinker and the cef and then they had posted about the project i'm referring to as qr fun they they had like sort of teased this project and it went on he went on to talk about the qr fund i've been following since clanker season when it first ran to 8,000,000 all time high recently with the launch of cef clanker eco fund i started digging back into the ecosystem to find teams still building and qr.fund stood out and then this went on and on pretty cool to see this and then also and i can't find it right now base also had retweeted something that jake had posted about spandex so it kind of like right now you've got a really interesting flywheel going on with qr where you're getting a few different bumps if you are a clinker for example and you win an auction you're also going to get featured on clanker.world so very cool just cool what he's working on over there so just shout out to jake this from atown over the past few weeks we have had some degrading performance on emerge and don't have the bandwidth to address it while we sprint towards shipping the new app we are building that is being funded by arbitrum we are extremely close to launching it but unfortunately we will need to keep emerge in maintenance mode for a bit until we can divert our attention back to the app to get animations working again and to figure out what is causing the app to crawl to a crash in each session pardon the inconvenience so emerge is currently down i had such a good idea the other day and i went to like create it and realized it was in maintenance mode and that was sad that was sad so i i miss you come back but also i appreciate the the comms appreciate the comms this from our friend mike good little nouner hello farcaster xppacyber.eth and i have been working on an app originally inspired by at jack that's jack from opepkin fame self checkout receipts so that was a that was something that happened at art basel where jack was there with a receipt printer that also became an nft it was really kind of cool anyone could mint and then you got an actual physical receipt it was pretty pretty neat so it started as a physical camera with a receipt printer and has since turned into a memory engine anyone can use from their phone introducing gnome camera gnome turns a photo into an on chain memory you can keep or gift our core flow creates a new wallet in the background so sharing a memory can also become someone's first step on chain it's a simpler more human way to capture moments and onboard friends available as a web app or on forecaster and base apps so go check it out very cool love love the build i had tested this out a little bit for mike and really neat and then it it kind of gives me a little bit of rock vibes if they get the physical part of it going i also can see lots of use cases at events especially onboarding events would be very cool this from burr and you can no longer join this but i just wanted to shout this out for those who are playing 100,000,000 better masters contest anyone with a point six neynar score has one free entry waiting for them choose five golfers lowest combined finishing position wins if your golfers finish one three seven nine ten your score is 30 etcetera very cool idea and i like that burr is trying to fill this hole left by bracke with different things like this and i was kind of bummed that i missed it i didn't get a chance to do my picks and i was very sad because it had started and i'm like oh no i forgot but very cool and good to see it and love love seeing what you're doing couple more things from some builders have you checked this out yep by the way this is from our friend justin just look at the dino chart for the first time surely i'm not the only one who sees this and he drew a little dino on there but this is the t rex runner let me see if i can get this to open
