here we go alright i'm gonna start with this from derek for those who haven't been around for those who haven't been around merkel started firecaster with the snapchain protocol actually it was hub's first to firecaster x y z on github and was notoriously token cautious until they acquired the clinker token but neymar now owns farcaster along with the now associated token clinker and there's also i mean yes and no there's also a they own the protocol a farcaster fork called hypersnap and it's primarily being driven it's being driven by the quillibrian team which has quill as an associated token base was using farcaster x y z's farcaster and not was not launching a token but has been exploring a token themselves and is no longer using farcaster x y z's farcaster but they kinda are also merkle is now at tempo which has an infinite number of associated tokens but they're basically all stable coins hope this helps is everyone clear now okay good so cassie wanted to qualify something look at the members of farcasterorg one member is from q and the rest are not also you failed to note that none of the merkle devs of farcaster came over to dnr with the acquisition except for dish who came over all right that sums it up i don't think we need to say anymore no we really do okay here's what's going on let me just zoom out for one second and then i'll get into these casts we have a fork that's happening so this happens sometimes when one community wants to go in a different direction or one part of a community or part of a project wants to go in a different direction and so there is a fork happening on farcaster so this came spouted out from hypersnap wanting to be added to snapchain and there was some pushback on that and it was suggested that a fork might be a better approach so cassie ran with that put together a coalition of folks who were interested in helping with that initiative so it is you know equilibrium was sort of the has the infrastructure to move that forward but they're not doing this solo so there's there's quite a few peep folks involved as part of that effort one of the things that they are doing is a token that is similar to other protocol tokens where it will be a reward for running nodes that keep the whole ecosystem going there's also going to be an airdrop as part of that that is a retro reward for folks who were who have been active on farcaster okay so here we go here we go this from farcaster the farcaster intern behind the farcaster accounts this was posted on both farcaster and twitter farcaster is not launching a token so farcaster now owned by nayanar is not launching a token the token talk circulating right now is tied to hypersnap a fork of the farcaster protocol the hypersnap team has been referring to their token as a farcaster token understandably this has caused confusion for the broader network who don't follow the technical aspects of the protocol to be clear this isn't a comment on the fork effort we just don't want the speculation to continue bringing noise we don't want here bots farmers and scam accounts that drag down the experience for everyone so if you're joining the farcaster app today in anticipation of token there is no farcaster protocol token drop sharing the facts lets us get it back to our main focus building a better network okay this is not to discourage anyone to come over to farcaster please do please come back but it's to discourage some of the spam that's been happening and just to kind of put a note on that before i continue on the fork discussion if you're seeing some spam in the replies report the user as spammy block user block repeat which is annoying but necessary at the moment there's been a lot of this if you've been seeing this one in particular there was a lot of this i think they're doing a pretty good job of getting rid of them so this was showing up in replies automatically like bot replies were popping in to every like comment like anytime you posted something so this was from farcaster as well heads up there's a wave of scam bots posting fake claim airdrop mini apps right now if you see one don't click it a few things that should be red flags of for these scams nothing is casted about it from farcaster if we're doing something we'll tell everyone about it nothing about it in the fc updates check the updates tab in the sidebar uses the old farcaster arch logo we're nerfing accounts as we see them client side tag the tag the forecaster account if you spot one or you want to confirm if something is real

there's been a bunch of a bunch of these as we noticed there's in particular they seem to be coming through the firefly app so not exactly sure why that particular signer has been a problem but they have noticed it so this was from brad bradgau bradgau thanks for the notice we found suspicious activities that keep registering new farcaster accounts through firefly then extract their signers and use these signers and scripts to post spam these spams are not posted on firefly we will restrict the new account registration check to avoid more spam account creation these spams will soon be nerfed and become invisible and i already noticed a difference over the past like day so couple more things excellent report reporting them is the fastest lever so doing the report helps to surface these and they feed directly into spam classifiers and reputation systems enough signal and they get rate limited deboosted or hidden blocking helps your feed immediately but is local to you bonus don't engage replies equal oxygen so don't reply don't crow cast etcetera don't interact so excellent advice from reporting as spam is the fastest lever i just banned a bunch from reply guys and reported a ton use the report button let's keep our home clean and then this from the intern sorry the intern can't come to the phone right now they got access to the nerf button so it's happening it's happening alright moving back to the fork discussion this from cassie oops no hold on this was cassie's response to the farcaster cast farcaster classic is not launching a token so now there's a push to call the current farcaster protocol and client farcaster classic similar to ethereum classic and then the ethereum fork which became ethereum so this is from cassie in response farcaster classic is not launching a token the token talk circulating right now has tried to hypersnap a fork of snapchain both participants of the farcaster protocol the hypersnap team has been referring to the token as a farcaster token because it is a farcaster token protocol at the protocol level understandably this has caused confusion because nina refers only to their side of the fork as farcaster and yet have none of the original protocol dev team to reduce confusion when we say farcaster we mean the ecosystem protocol when we say farcaster classic we mean the side of the fork ninr maintains consider the history of eth and eth classic and this pov will make sense farcaster token is coming this month okay so we've got a little bit of friction going between these two sides of the fork but i don't know it's almost like adrienne it's almost like they should have named the client something different than the protocol

for those who for those in the know we went we went through that for a while clear as mud exactly clear as mud yeah it's it's i think

yeah so there's a we have a protocol farcaster other clients can be built on top of it other apps can be built on top of it the protocol is open to building on top of the it's also maintained by farcaster slash neynar so that is maintained itself through snapchain as well as the client called farcaster and farcaster xyz so there you go yeah this isn't confusing at all it's fine moving on a couple more things on this this was also from cassie we expect there will be a lot of imitators via clankr and and anywhere you'll probably see some on solana you'll probably see them everywhere and also outright scams we're already seeing brand new accounts spamming an air airdrop claim tool which we just went through here's what you need to know it won't be done via clanker for those who have been keeping up with development this is obvious but it needs to be said because it's actually a protocol token that is i think i don't know if they're using a mining mechanism or something along those lines i don't think it's staking i'm not sure if it's staking or mining to be honest but it needs to be a different type of token so anything coming from clanker is not going to be this particular token there is no airdrop it's a protocol rewards based on activity also among also rewards for app devs and protocol node runners but there are retroactive rewards based on the same rules that apply going forward and there's details in the github mw mvr's frame which wish it didn't say airdrop but it is what it is reflects the current state of the retro calculation however this is not
