absolutely absolutely it's been a rough week so let's we're gonna dive in and hopefully this part works too we're doing our screen share so hopefully this we have a new little screen share yay working very excited that this might actually work today so my background is from the poker game last night with ted so for everyone who so a lot of people bet against her by the way so club ted did their 1st poker night that's what this is about and i actually finagle my way in because somebody couldn't couldn't be there so thank you for allowing me in the game and then i ended up finally there was a club ted nft on the on the floor on on open sea so i bought one last night so that i can officially go to the next poker game but it was so fun so for everyone who bet against me this is from ted here's the final tally zoom in and weep also 1st club ted perkinite was so fun like so so fun i agree 2 hours flew by no time lots of sneak peek aloha i think i don't think she meant aloha i think she meant alpha alpha not aloha got conversations funny stories unchained blue thing by jameson lots of ideas for next time i love life i love farcaster me as well so that was amazing and that's my background today and adrian is sporting the iguana so we have a new update today we have a new farcaster protocol release nft and it is the iguana if you are new to farcaster each protocol upgrade has its own nft with various animals and an arch and this one is the iguana so beautiful background by the way i love it it's working out perfect today so that's amazing but the big news power badges are here power badges are rolling out now you'll get a notification if you have the badge and the active badge is gone so it's a little bit different in terms of how it works we are going to see a whole bunch of interesting adjustments to this but what's a power badge so workcast gives power badges to users who are active interesting to others and not spammy so this is really trying to find those folks who get a lot of engagement and make sure that they get seen so the list of power badge holders is available to developers over an api api which is really interesting they may use it to change who can interact with a frame or application use it to as a quality signal in their own ranking algorithms how does warpcast choose who gets a power badge it's a page rank like system which uses a recursive approach to identify power users it depends broadly on the following factors activity have you contributed to the network recently affinity do power users like most of your recent contributions and then labeling are you often flagged by other users or our machine learning systems for spam the most important thing you can do to improve your probability getting a power badge are using farcaster a few times a week or daily i mean hello oh hourly posting or hourly or multiple times in an hour whatever you know you do you but you know we will i just got on

i think that works as well posting content that power users will reply to recast or like often avoid post posting content that power users consider spammy off topic channel cast so adrianne we have a lot of people who you know had some issues with it they didn't like the they didn't get a power badge and here's what i noticed almost every time they weren't casting it's the same as the acting badge it's like you haven't casted in 2 months that might be why like just just cast more just cast more so what do you what did you think about i do have a few other memes and fun things to share about the power badges but i just wanna get your tip first before i get to that

if you do think yeah if you do think that you should have one for one reason or another you know say something nicely or better yet if you wanna get the attention of the powers that be the customer service channel can be found in slash memes that's right make a good meme and that's how you get that's how you get things done in this platform so that is my recommendation there but i you know i was talking with i've been working with a few people in this little group chat called act it was called active badge power camp and now boot camp and now it's called power badge boot camp and the bottom line always came down to is you need to cast more you you need to actually interact you need to reply like things like that like actually make some connections and that's gonna make a huge difference because they're also the people that do are active do have a power badge are gonna see it more they're gonna start to interact with you and that's how this flywheel is gonna fly so we did have some memes because we always do this was from rish merkel this evening you get a power badge you get a power badge you don't get a power badge so there's a little bit of there's love and then there's not so much i loved this one from rishi it is what it is you guys always act like you're better than me active badge power badge top caster channel i thought that was hilarious i have been all those things and various things i love this too from dan found varun's inspo for the power badge

yeah i know i mean we had to have some kind of glitch come on this from john palmer actually there is a set of rules you can follow to earn it post good stuff not bad stuff because this was a note this was a reply recast from varun introducing the power badge a new ranking system for war cast it uses pancra it said unlike the active badge it does not have a set of rules and john palmer says actually there is a set of rules post good stuff that's it's pretty it's pretty simple over here try replying was also an answer from dan i don't get engagement on farfaster try replying and i said you just you know stole the reply guys' secret weapon but it works because that's how you actually make connections and people see you connecting

the only low effort replies allowed are things that then become memes and take on a life of their own so for those who are new wow wow came from a note somebody had replied wow wow and then dan replied this is a low effort reply and then it came it took on a life of its own so those low effort replies we appreciate otherwise no one a couple more notes i thought this was really interesting this is from wren stern car badge but it's bittersweet some members of the japanese warpgast community feel discriminated against as they are naturally not going to get likes from og users due to the language barrier know these are growing pains of the platform but just thought i'd call it out feels like an opportunity to build a fix though so i thought that was a really valid valid point for for those who aren't casting in english that is gonna be a big challenge so i'm i'm gonna guess that you know there'll be some adjustments made to how this how this works keeping that in mind so i think we'll see some iterations here that was i thought a very valid valid point so i was like yeah you know what

not as prof has opinions it will be on my team so so i i understand what brian is saying and i don't think that is a necessarily the best use this is like thinking about qdau right from warpcast perspective is this the right thing to do right now for unlonely probably not because it will take some effort i think the i think johnny's way underestimating the effort it would take to to token gate a stream i think there's a lot involved and we know this tech stack we've been doing this right since september it's it's complicated there's many pieces and there's many points of failure as we have seen in the past 3 days and then for us right now i wouldn't token gate our stream however would i token gate maybe you know down the road something special for our subscribers for hypersub maybe but we'll do that we can still do that we just do that in a different way so like next week next thursday by the way we're gonna have monday wednesday wednesday next week and thursday after the show we're gonna do a virtual meetup and we're gonna do that but we're just gonna do that through google meet and we're gonna just just share that link with those who are you know invited to be there so it's there are ways to do that kind of a thing without token gating it and complicating the tech stack so i agree with johnny that token gated experiences are important and will become more important but right now that may not make sense for emily so that's my 2¢ adrienne what you got

it is a token gated chat it's a vip chat but it's not token gated based on an nft that you hold in your wallet so it's not it's that's not the way it's token gated it's token gated by buying something within unlonely to token gated but that's much more complicated when you get to the stream side of it so i do i do think there's more to it i think it can be done but i also don't necessarily think it's the best use of energy
