gm farcaster it is monday november 17 and you are here with adrian and anushprof for twenty nine minutes of farcaster news plus a chat with the folks from quotient and we're gonna be chatting with rubinations and jeff goldberg really excited about that we'll also be diving into the habs drop as sort of the example of what they've been working on and really excited so we're gonna we're gonna dive in we've got lots to chat about but first
but first markets are looking great but this was the funniest thing like so michael saylor actually tweeted this over on twitter and everyone went what
dude you put yourself in life raft and told everyone else to and all he wrote was huddle yeah just huddle that was it he and he dropped this picture and we're all like dude what are you doing this does not this does not encourage people to huddle this encourages people to tell
what was the prompt
exactly i'm curious i'm curious michael i don't know what you were thinking here buddy
how can you be an ai doomer when we get
when we get i mean
really of our
absolutely hilarious and then it just popped off like everyone commenting on it
did he ever did he comment and clarify or retract
know if he ever did honestly i haven't
i didn't see any obviously
but i also didn't dig in luck but this is really funny and i don't know if you remember a while back my mom was doing one of her market reports of like mine is up yours is down mine being eth hers being bitcoin and i called her i said easy sailor yes so that's the first thing i thought of when i said it easy sailor yeah i don't see anything just looks like his usual you know regular stuff he's buying bitcoin so alright
how do we know what the how do we even know what the boat represents you guys think
it looks like the frickin' panic it's
fiat it's fiat currency obviously going down
okay
and obviously
obviously obviously that was obviously the problem the whole entire economy can't pop global economy can't be that
no bitcoin's fine bitcoin's fine
and maybe that's what he's trying to represent the rest of the economy is crashing like the titanic and bitcoin's the lifeboat
it is funny
i can't i have been reading
the book nineteen twenty nine by andrew ross sorkin about all the people and events leading up to the great depression
i just by the way i just ordered it on highly recommend to i'm gonna start listening to it this week
because you really it was like took a minute to get into it but it's so fascinating to hear the different characters between wall street government industry who the bears are who the bulls are and kind of like and how they're you know pumping their bags or not and all the massive insider trading that went on and and it's just interesting now to live in a world where everybody can just like tweet their thoughts so it's like you know it's like it's just it's fun to be alive
and observe to be alive and observe i just watched the big short highly recommend that you all do the same
because why because you think we learn from the past
apparently we do not no i think it's important to acknowledge that no we don't here's your history you learn nothing
oh i actually think that was like the opening quote i forget i know there's a literary word for when there's like a quote at the beginning of a book but i'm not smart enough to remember what it is but i actually think the quote from 1921 was something about how it's actually impossible to ever learn from the past like your kids can't learn from you they have to make their own mistakes so yes cool
yep so so we shall so buckle up everyone also in funny memes that have nothing to do with farcaster but they're everywhere on farcaster we have this lovely couple of gems come on you can do it this has been taking over the feed everywhere oh my god you're not gonna show up for me really here we go may i meet you jesus christ and also geographically monogamous and the guy with the sword i mean that was the planet planeteer ceo whose name is escaping me at the moment i mean it's just been the boomers are on fire and i just wanna clarify something for all the youngins because i realized i'm like how old is bill ackman so i went and looked this up and technically he is a gen xer and i would like to petition all other gen xers to kick him out and move him to boomer because never in my life in my twenties because i was like this isn't a thing this was in many bars i was hit on many men many many men of his age okay never once did someone walk up to me and say may i meet you
so if you're a lot of people are going oh it's because he's old bro it's because he's weird
okay fine but hold on why are you putting me in the position that i have to defend ackman again i don't know again but like and i don't mean again but just like i'm constantly telling people that don't need defense he's just saying like take a risk and go talk to someone i got nothing wrong with that
he's saying it in a really stupid way
that's all although i hearing just a lot i just wonder there's so much of this like old people saying young people there's something wrong with young people today and i also just feel like that's what old people do since the beginning of time and i'm not sure i always believe it
true they're usually wrong i mean because they're gonna do what they're gonna do and they're in a world that's completely different however i will say this may i meet you will now work it may be 100% work especially if you're at a tech or crypto conference it will work now it didn't it would not have worked ever in the past ever like there's no way this man it may not actually went to a bar and said this to a woman there's no way there's no way
it'll work to get a laugh it doesn't guarantee a date so just no
it doesn't guarantee a date but it will definitely open up a conversation to anybody who's chronically online so here we go and then we you know unlock a cup a new meme format i've seen the sword one many times but also this may i meet you is now popping up and they're taking his tweet and twisting it and this is samantha's version which i enjoyed very much i hear from many young men that they find it difficult to meet young women in public setting in other words the online culture has destroyed the ability to spontaneously meet strangers as such i thought i would share a few words that i used in my youth to meet someone that i found compelling i would ask what kind of candles do you like so we're getting this a lot where people are just changing that part of it i would ask and this is from chase that was from samantha of course our human kind candle candle lady and this was from chase i would ask can i ask you a question it's more engaging i almost never got a no it was it goes on and on and i've seen a lot of takes on this but i think samantha's is still my favorite what kind
of samantha has a knack for a copypasta
she's really good at it and this was a good one
because it's always about candles and it always works
yeah
it always works
but i mean literally when he said i would ask may i meet you and i was like no you never asked that because that's stupid no you didn't anyway moving on to farcaster news after the laughs that we desperately needed we move on 29 of farcaster from our friend brad q what did you miss this weekend hard to miss that lots of people are in buenos aires for devconnect our caster meetup on thursday please make sure you're following the devconnect channel if you are there or if you are not because you'll either get some fomo or some jomo it's up to you the natives are restless over the removal of custom reactions on fc gm wow wow rainbow etcetera miguel garett's commentary artwork piece seems to provide the stage for thoughtful comments from garrett danica swanson and we will get to those in just a bit several others about the bigger issue of what it says about merkel's sensibilities to fc culture warplet mania continues as say angel released warplet scenes with friday at work and dev connect themes also related base wtf released shiplets that were hit on the timeline we'll talk about those perp released habs dollar sign habs h a b s as in haberdashery too wide appeal with lots of fc lore and og vibes connected to dgen dao gm broadcaster will probably explain further yes we will we'll not only explain further but that is one of the examples that'll be used when we talk about the the data behind it all nayanar is becoming a force on the timeline with lots of new use cases but this weekend there was lots of nayanar therapy going on with a nayanar tell me about trend personally i was waiting for nayanar to bring out the stuart smalley you're good enough you're smart enough and people like you but i guess we're early we should probably program warpy to do that and then a little bit about us being back today so good summary and let's dive into a few of those things this from dan and commenting on tldr i don't know why everything's loading so slowly probably because i had these ready since last night i was getting ready early and there you go so now it's like moving slowly farcaster culture is a thing and this was in a quote cast of tldr farcaster culture is a thing spending half of my time on twitter now for brachy and man it's so so different the level of unnecessary hatred there is off the charts i have daily interactions where i'm generally shocked at the effort someone puts into crafting the most cruel words you can think of to someone they don't know and have never interacted with barcaster is different in the best way and i will agree with that yeah almost did said some pretty some petty stuff on here and then i realized this place is sacred and we don't need that energy on fc gm that was quote casting super tight white so there was a few things there was a really big thing that popped up also that i didn't pull where literally some one of the you know a dev flying in to argentina from india like posted hey i'm in argentina like basically posting to everyone else who's going to dev connect and the comments were insane i mean luckily he's making money off the racism i mean he's because of twitter rewards because like it was awful to see and it did give me a lot of new people to block so that was fun great but like crazy it was crazy so i do appreciate that we don't see that kind of stuff very often it happens because it's people but less often here however let's talk about culture so this is the piece that from miguel gerest so over the weekend everyone realized that the custom emoticons are gone i think this was really good art piece i think it says a lot and it makes me sad so for those who may not even realize there might be people who've been on here like fairly new ish may not have even realized a lot of people don't notice the emoticons if you used certain things it would change the heart the that is a like button into something else so if you started your cast with gm or gn or ga it would turn the heart into that it would turn it into a gm etcetera same thing with noggles if you put noggles anywhere in the cast it would turn it into the nouns noggles and a few other things like dgen rainbow wow wow the warplet like those came later fm they came later so and the w so all these things to me are recognition of culture so it started with internet you know like crypto culture the gm and then nouns was got rolled into that i think he i don't know when he added the nouns on but i think it was before i got here and i think it was around the time when he brought everyone over from like all the nouns folks came over but it was here when i got here in october 2022 they were already existing and it was the thing
i don't remember
it now kept me coming back it was the because i thought it was so cool and it was so cute and it grabbed my attention and it was something i told everybody about because mostly because of the noggles but also the gm mhmm because i liked both of those things so and then the other ones that came later came in response to a cultural moment within farcaster so for example like the the hat for dgen wow wow from that moment where that all popped off the w for warp cast i don't remember when that happened but or why and then rainbow is because i think mike just asked for it he just asked for it and dan was like sure so and then fm was related to higher fm and ufo i think that was that moment
mhmm
so we've kind of like to me this is like exactly what this image is it's just like you're crushing culture and it's really bothering me so thoughts before i dive into a few casts about this
the only thing i'll say is the only thing dan has said about it is he took them out because they're glitchy mhmm
generally
i find that hard to believe
yeah i'm having a hard time with anyone
if if i take them at face value because they were glitchy fine whatever like you'd you know like but
i think i need more explanation of glitchy but i
was just surprised because i get the like hey one of the things i think that makes them super talented and successful as a product team is this like crazy laser focus on and and like kind of you know it's like narrow focus aft and searching for growth and yeah if there's things and if things mika okay is it if there's things that are kind of dragging you down and and causing drag and and adding technical debt and glitch like i'm all for cleaning those up as you're searching for for growth so if i take them at face value fine what i was most surprised about and i wanna take my feelings out of this but people really do care
yeah
about like and something as little as like oh a custom emoji
if i had seriously if i if we still had a leaderboard i would have shot way up because the number of comments that i had on mine when i was like what the fuck where did it go
well you don't have a leaderboard
i know but if we did
and you don't have a trending feed and you don't have animated bfps so
so mostly i'm just kinda confused because i am on farcaster because it's a social app yeah and i think social features are cool i think it's really cool to be connected globally to all these like interesting people around the world who all kind of share some common sensibility interested in crypto generally builders you know like so it's people have feelings
yeah yeah and that's symbio yeah it honors communities and moments that help this place survive yeah exactly and so okay it might be glitchy maybe something happens with changes that they have made i would like additional explanation if that is the reason because usually the two reasons they take features away is one it's technically no longer working the way it's supposed to so we've seen that happen with the animated pfps for example where they were actually causing a problem i think mostly on android but it was something they just couldn't fix and then the other reason is somebody has complained so much or multiple people have complained so much about something that it just becomes like not worth it it's not relevant it doesn't drive you know growth etcetera so they get rid of it trending feed that's trending feed
right people did not like the trending feed right because they felt like it was just showing the same people was that the complaint on trending
yeah the complaint was like oh it's only benefiting same
10 people who are whatever whatever yeah
and i just totally disagree but i it was the whining that essentially the squeaky wheels were too loud and they just were like this isn't worth it it it this is a distraction so to me this feels like it's more in that category but i will take dan for his word that something's going on i would just like additional information to explain what how when because these have been with us since literally since i joined the network for over
three years
and dan has always been transparent yeah and when he talks and he communicates i've never gotten a sense that i don't trust what he's saying no like he's trustworthy but this happened to be a weekend he just said very little about it
yeah
people don't think just probably busy and offline and didn't yeah follow-up is my
guess got several young kids and a family and he's you know like hopefully he was enjoying himself this weekend and not just hiding because we were yelling at him
he had the weekend i mean that's i i love that was just busy with the family and is like you know what i'm gonna i'll deal with those on monday i hope i hope so respectable that's perfectly understandable
i do think i do like all the conspiracy theories that have popped up like marco trying to get us to switch clients like
maybe funny wow yeah yeah that's the okay so that is the essential problem is that it's not one thing it's many things and this might be a a straw camel situation that's what it feels like
it's coming off yeah like the reactions whatever but it was it's additional of other things
it's like one more freaking thing
again if you're turning off a farcaster to go use a different farcaster app great
great yeah
right like you farcaster wins that's great yeah so if you're churning to go somewhere else like
i don't know yeah and but it's it's it it doesn't make me feel good and i had very visceral reactions to this so anyway
it is funny i rarely actually have feelings about things because i'm pretty good at separating yeah
you're very good at
my emotional feeling to any algorithm or platform like yeah fool me once you know shame on me fool me twice no fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me so i won't do it i just i
yeah
i i won't attach my
my i'm unfortunately not not as able to do that i am able to rationally look at things and realize that
i'm
being irrational mhmm i fully recognize that my response to this is irrational irrational
i fully recognize that
but i still feel it yeah so it's still making this one anyway i was saying
i had feelings this weekend is all i yeah it it got me feelings
it got me yeah this is very much i'm in my feels alright let me jump through a couple more things because i do see ruminations down there and we do wanna get get to them when jeff arrives as well so this was some of the responses like danica swanson wait what and one of the things you said was might seem like a small thing to some but i haven't seen any official news about what's coming next or even if there is a next with creator rewards either if fc focuses so heavily on traders that most of the creators and clps just get crowded out or otherwise sidelined that will make me sad if this keeps up my days here may be numbered and i was like okay yeah that's how i'm feeling as well
what's a clp for those that may not know
yes a conversation liquidity provider so that is the people who you know keep things moving around here
i will say one thing okay i'm gonna tell you my feeling actually so for all the different like pivots i think that we've seen in farcaster it is it has always been like okay this didn't work we'll try something else yes so you know let's go like there were channels hey we're gonna really double down on channels and when that happened it's like if you weren't if you were building on a channel you got a lot of love from our whole team like dan you dan would dm you there was a group chat like but if you weren't you didn't feel disrespected it was just like okay that's not yeah what we're looking at i guess so it was never and then we moved on to something else there was a time where it was vertical video is everything yeah everybody do vertical video if you were creating vertical video you got a lot of love from from dan you would get you know if you weren't it was fine you might get a little annoyed but there's something about i think a pivot to trader stuff where yeah as they're adding things and maybe this is an app decision where it's like you're adding so many things to the ui and it's like for every one thing you add you should take away but it feels like it's the first time where people feel like it's fine for you to focus on something else in search of growth which what we need but people i think are feeling left out disrespected unread like
yeah
i think that's what we're picking up that's
so you know i i was thinking about this like okay you you have your missionaries you have your mercenaries and right now you're looking for mercenaries because you're you're specifically diving into trading as a way to actually create a sustainable revenue source which i totally get so we have this moment where the missionaries are feeling a little ignored and put off and the thing i think that maybe merkel needs to keep in mind is that the reason that you preach to the choir is that's how you get them to sing so if you want all these folks who love farcaster so much to continue to love it talk about it and sort of evangelize that this is a great place to build then you gotta stop shitting on them like you gotta be very careful about that because that's what it's feeling like right now and that will be detrimental if you start to lose the social of the social network and your social trading you're gonna lose the thing that makes it special that actually might end up providing you the sustainable revenue that you're looking for yeah so and
i don't know if you listened to dan's interview with chiam
i did not yet i've you've forgotten to do that one i guess this is
but he he did say he said he does lack oh i forget his word maybe cuddliness
yeah clearly
warm like i think it was i think that was a term he said i can't remember but like he's and i think people were looking for some cuddles this week cuddles monks i can't remember
he's not
i don't know he's yeah friendly
and that's not unusual for a founder like him but what they normally do is bring somebody in to fill that spot and i think that was the ted plug but it didn't work out so
he need a sheryl sandberg okay let's
yes he does yeah but not her okay really quick couple more quick things and then we're gonna pivot over to our friends ruminations and jeff goldberg just wanna point out a couple more notes on this and you guys can go take a peek if it'll pop up for me good this is from garrett forecaster continues to take away the fun features custom reactions animated gifs and i don't think dwr values fun as much as he should when thinking about priorities i understand that trading features and performance are key priorities i support that but taking away the fun things that we have act have that have acted as social glue is a mistake so same kind of thing we're saying really quick we'll actually let me circle back to this i'm gonna circle back to we'll come back to some of this other news after we chat with our friends down there let me open up some other links for them
i was thinking we were gonna get through all that before they came in and i don't know what i was thinking i don't know why i thought that was even gonna be possible
oh my god you asked me you asked me you asked me for feelings we had a feelings
i know and i did want i
i always go longer
could seriously talk about that for a while yeah we could talk about that for a while i just wanna pull up some of the stuff from perp and wake and folks before
while you're doing that
i'll just share my here
while you're doing that my favorite conspiracy theory is dan just purposely does things to get us to talk so it's like he it's his own way too you know it's just outrage farming
it's a nice theory
i'm just gonna say it's conspiracy
no can't prove it wrong what this is that's not what this is alright let's bring up our friends ruminations and jeff goldberg we are gonna talk about quotient and also the habs drop which was quotient used so welcome jordan and jeff we're so happy to have you here gm gm gm if you yeah even though if you type that now you will no longer say gm anyway
how are you guys doing today welcome to gm forecaster it's so great to have you here
yeah it's great to be here thanks for for having us
i wanna start with jordan let's start with you can you give us some background on what is quotient how did you go about developing this and then we'll circle over to jeff to kinda give us sort of the the case study if you will using using habs so ruminations let's start with you
sure
and also can you tell us about your name you have a great name
yeah i don't i guess i was feeling like self deprecatory when i chose my my firemaster username originally it was just like my dot eve but yeah i'm not i i overthink things so that's why i chose that that name and with
the question perfect
love it
yeah the the easiest way to think about it is a leaderboard technology company for innovative communities so how i think about it is in crypto it's very difficult to find signal and to find people who are contributing value and then sort of work as people and to follow what they're doing so you can be ahead of the curve there's bots and farmers and the data is very disjointed so what we do is we integrate data from the broadcaster social graph so things like likes and recasts and follows with on chain actions so the tokens that you buy that that's that you make on rapi the the mini apps that you use to the extent that they have smart contract interactions and then we do a layer of analysis on top of that to kind of create a view of the world of people who are contributing value in crypto so when i say analysis i'm referring to things like scoring accounts based off of their social reputation which is where our quotient score is derived from labeling accounts on how appealing they might be to copy traders labeling accounts as founders or builders because they have started with companies or or are bootstrapping their own things like you guys are and what this allows us to do is create different interfaces for people to access the data to do useful things so at first we did a lot of airdrops and rewards programs so communities wanted to know who are the people contributing the most value for instance by like getting people to buy our token and they wanted to know who are people in similar communities that could be a good fit for our community
mhmm
who are the farmers and right now we're kind of taking that infrastructure to
help traders so like for instance we have a we have different leaderboards of top traders that fit different profiles and by filtering all of the trades happening on different dexs through this leaderboard we can kinda see okay here's the tokens that they're buying either those tokens here's the tokens that have positive net volume over their baseline over their twenty four hour baseline now we have a trend in list of tokens or i click on the token i wanna see who holds it this person is a top trader this person received creator rewards from broadcaster they're credible i feel more conviction i want to buy so today this work has been kind of scattered across different interfaces and at times done manually because quotient is you know mostly bootstrapped it's been me more or less building the data infrastructure and use different uis and working with clients so i wanted to be really sure that the things that i build and put out there for people to use are actually needed and that there's a path towards making money for the city sustainable business and we're kind of right now getting that clarity or receives that clarity so we're preparing to roll out kind of a new series of interfaces and expand access to our api and one of the things that we're releasing first later today or tomorrow is a replacement for the broadcaster creators leaderboard where we kind of use our data to provide kind of those insights in a similar form factor but some differences now we calculate engagement and then there's some other insights available at the users and we're going to be building off of that but yeah so there's a lot going on and we're trying to make it simpler so
if folks wanna see some of this data like in your leaderboards and things that you're developing can they access that right now or no is it just sort of happening in the background of other things you're doing like is
there question
or is that something you're rolling out like like you mentioned traders so if i'm a trader who wants to get a better idea of who are the good traders who how do they trade or get some information about them like where can i see that right now
yeah so right now that interface which we're calling the social deck screener is in beta and it hasn't been rolled out to the public the creator's leaderboard that we're creating well it's in a mini app called leaderboards and we're gonna host all of our leaderboards there so our customers can display them there and display leaderboards that are simple for tokens and so on and so forth and and that's gonna come out later today or tomorrow and so the the goal is to kinda get those two simple interfaces out so like when people are like what is question what do they do like why isn't the data more accessible they can access those and get a sense of what we do and then as we have more resources to build those out we'll build them out more
and you just made yes to crypto very happy i'm sure another opportunity for another leaderboard yes to crypto just you know letting you know the man loves a leaderboard loves to be loves to loves to strive for the top so and i love to see that i think there were there were some interesting information like here i thought this was really cool to see from jeff talking about the 50 cred credscore accounts the top 50 credscore accounts quite a few higher fid accounts are included among quotient's top 50 including peachy like it so that it wasn't just like the real real ogs
what is kind of making up this type of score in terms of what is the data sort of backing it that pulls together this type of a leaderboard here
yeah so the quotient score initially started as a utility because i wanted to scrape all of the farcaster data but it's expensive and takes up a lot of space and i was like i don't know i've been on farcaster i don't think there's like actually 1,100,000 accounts who i should scrape data for i think there's like probably 10 to 20,000 so as a shortcut i was like i'm gonna look at everyone who has received at least 10 interactions from someone with an fid below 10,000 because my understanding was that those people were kind of hand curated and by doing that i reduced like the number of accounts to look at by 30 to 30,000 and then i created a little score and i was like oh these scores are actually pretty useful that's interesting and as quotient kind of progressed i realized that this was like a a kind of niche to establish ourselves and put something out there that was relevant and you know fit a form factor that people were used to with an ar score so it's evolved a bit from then and the process is basically first we kind of hand select a group of accounts that are reflective of the different niches with on within broadcaster so developers creators founders traders etcetera who are like paradigm cases of people who are relevant with and incredible within their niche like everyone on this call besides me and then we we have this graph that looks at all the different interaction types of our caster so like likes recasts mentions replies quote casts etcetera all those have a weight and a direction and then we run kind of a modified version of the page rank algorithm that starts at our like set of trusted nodes and then follows those paths out to different people so you can so like reputation in this algorithm kind of propagates out from the most trusted records so what this leads to is like an outcome where say that dan doesn't follow me he's never interacted with me but he interacts with christopher a lot and christopher followed me and interacts with me a lot then that influence from dan propagates down to me and so yeah
so it's almost like it's almost like a a way almost like christopher is sort of vouching for you in a way it's almost yeah in a in their in their own way by just interacting and
like with that because he has such a higher score or whatever so that makes sense to me
yeah exactly and then we have kind of added some safeguards to reduce the impact of farming which i won't get into like all of them because yeah
don't tell us
people will try to gain them they absolutely do that one of them is like engagement farming cast will follow some templates so if it's like oh good morning friends and then like an image of coffee like we won't count engagement for that cast or like something something base blue square right so there's there's things like that that are more like subjective and then there's some other safe parts that we've put into place but we're going to be kind of upgrading that framework like it was really more of a marketing thing like a utility that we decided to use as a marketing thing and isn't really what developers like need people need kind of more granular scores and tats like this person has a high social score but a low trader score this person has a high trader score but a low trader score this person one a qr option like there's all these different segments that people kind of wanna layer on top of each other to to make a decision and we're going to be doing that but before we do that we're gonna kinda make our existing scores available to everyone like they're already kind of available to developers in api but we're gonna put them on dune and let's do a little write up and people can experiment with that and criticize on and so on and so forth rest incorporate into the platform moving forward
i thought this was interesting too when you were talking about faye so this is a cast from you ruminations when you're looking for traders to follow it's important to look beyond p and l and trading volume and monitor people with high social influence and awareness and i think awareness is an interesting word 283 wallets connected to farcaster accounts participated in the fake crowd fund a mix of the usual suspects and some lesser known accounts you had to be early to be eligible spotting whiz lay out the vision on the feed follow account join discord etcetera people with high social awareness saw this got in read the material set alerts to make sure they could get their contributions in on time got in and now are up bigly or they were when this was written
let's just say that without having to front phonetically scroll through a feed and watch charts so i think that's really interesting in terms of the way you're thinking about this i like the idea of awareness where this is how the social network actually can influence or not influence but inform the trading is that if you are paying attention to what the signals are that people are sharing and you're looking at those who are have like a higher reputation score a quotient score in this point in in this situation it's gonna be a much higher signal you might catch on to something it could lead to really useful information and everyone's always looking for alpha and where's that group chat well the group chat's right in front of you it's been here all the time it's like literally everything that happened with faye was totally public like there was anyone could have joined in that discord you just had to be following wiz or you or paying attention to him that was sort of the the tweak or the folks who were following him and were doing the same thing right so there's like a a little bit of a cascading effect so i think that's really and i and you can see that repeated over and over again for different different things so and i think we'll see that more and more like habs was another one where you know folks who are paying attention probably picked up early and others who weren't maybe missed out completely because they just weren't dialed into the right the right folks so it's an interesting way to look at it and think about it because i am not particularly a big trader in terms of volume at all but i might hit on some things just because i i do like network very well like i i'm and i'm away i'm terminally online so i'm paying attention to a lot of things because of this so at least if it's forecast related if it's you know in other ecosystems i may miss it completely and that i think is normal like you're gonna be dialed into certain ecosystems and others you're just not you know as you can't pay attention to absolutely everything so the more we can get like things like this where it's easier to hone in on that attention and awareness it's really helpful to folks who are who are trading especially so but for anything really just to find interesting builders and stuff like that as well so very cool so did that kind of like sum up did i yeah
yeah i could i could screen share something to yeah
and then i was yeah and then i'm gonna
have jeff
jeff jump in too but yeah go ahead just gave you just took mine off so you can share when you're ready
yeah just to drive in that point i'll share your profile on our new interface
okay
where yeah so like in crypto especially like a lot of social context it's very difficult to understand like why someone matters or why you should care what they do if you don't spend a lot of time here and like people build up that intuition by being terminally online or like working in the industry and like going to events and meeting people in real life so it's it's difficult to capture all of that like context and compress it but like for you for instance like if we look at your on chain and social presence it's like there's first like your social influence which is like really high and then there's all these different like apps that you've used you've created a clinker you are one of the top betterment users you're one of the top dau users you're one of the top clanker evangelists which is a a segment of people who when they post about clanker tokens drive a lot of high volumes to those tokens so you're gonna feed out and trade a lot i think that that's more important from a token discovery perspective than someone who has high pnl posting about a token because like there's actually a lot less signal in that in terms of like will like it's one skill to like spot a token that's going to go up and then it's another skill to trade that token at the right time to realize profit so what we're trying to do
so in other words i'm really good at spotting the tokens but i hold them forever to zero i do a lot of round tripping folks so you just need to be better at selling than i am
yeah other than that if you don't you know sell the token then that is good for you socially so it's like yeah everyone like when we when we we put this into the kind of like apps nft engagement leaderboard
yeah
and we separate all of the social engagement you get from the buy volume that you generate and people are like well what should i do like should i show this open for and i'm like well maybe not because if you're not good at it and not tasteful then it's gonna hurt your others for it because people yeah will find you annoying and cringe so yeah it's like everyone has like their strengths and people should be rewarded for what they do best and not kind of funneled in to try to optimize for like one metric that i don't think is that useful frankly
yeah
but yeah and like awareness just that word i used it because i i started my career as like an intelligence analyst so i was like tracking front companies from iran's military and like terrorist organizations so we had our own internal tools and i that's how i got into like network analysis and segwayed into jeff that's like something that we would bond about because we did kind of similar types of work so yeah
we are getting a little bit of static with your mic just fyi so yeah just a little bit a little bit of static there but i caught we caught we caught it that's really interesting i didn't realize that was your background and that makes sense how we connect to jeff alright and let's slide over to jeff to talk a little bit about some of the you're doing some really cool data mapping and i know in anticipation of the habs launch there was a lot that you did there to kind of work through that and i thought by the way looking at the habs site that you guys have where it's tracking the amount of buy that happens based on somebody just talking about the token is really interesting because again like i bought very little of the token in comparison to whales and things like that but i'm still getting like credit for folks who buy just because they saw something i posted about it and literally it could just be like hey this launched it may even it isn't even necessarily like hey you should go buy this because it's gonna give you generational wealth it's nothing like along those lines but i thought that was really interesting as well jeff why don't you jump in here and just talk a little bit about data mapping and how you're sort of demonstrating these connections that are then being brought into quotient
sure would would you mind switching things over so i'm i'm able to screen share as well because i probably
won't be up yeah i'll be off able to yeah
let me go ahead and do that give me one second
because jordan yeah we jordan pulled his off so you should be good to share
and so let's see
are you seeing my screen here yes
not yet so click the presenter invite and it should bring it up
oh why did it okay one second sorry about that well let's getting prepared so yeah social forensics has been around since 2018 and hopefully you're seeing my screen now
i i am now yes now we got it there we go
and and our core focus is segmenting social audiences that has two sort of main use cases one of them being marketing and the other one being sort of the identification of platform manipulation something that you know you may have seen me in the feed referred to cib or coordinated and authentic behavior that's sort of an industry term so yeah like it's the the two prongs of what we do one is marketing so that's like a good one it's not sort of dark and always bad whereas the other one sort of is is a little bit you know you're dealing with a lot of bad actors i would say so so how did social forensics come about about in 2017 i was really annoyed with twitter somebody had bought a bunch of fake followers to my account and you know back then i knew some folks that were pretty senior at twitter reached out to them and you know hey this happened here's why i'm upset with it don't worry about it jeff you know our systems kind of over time will remove all of those you know inauthentic accounts if i wanted to go buy jordan 5,000 fake twitter followers i could do it really easily it would cost me under $20 and you know he would all of a sudden be very popular on on twitter at this time however when this happened to me it was annoying because i was doing work as an influencer i had about a 100,000 followers across periscope and meerkat two live streaming apps so you know my mindset was hey let's maybe i'm pitching a brand or an agency for some business somebody else could say hey you don't wanna work with this guy jeff and use the fact that all of a sudden my twitter account had you know a bunch of new followers overnight and they could kinda maybe use that as like a proxy for my character right so that's why i was sort of annoyed by it back then i didn't know how to do any of this mapping so i hired somebody and this map sort of was a product here and you know so i mentioned how i was doing a lot of live streaming that's why you can see the purple and yellow communities here purple being right here yellow being right here these are the two live streaming communities again these are all my twitter followers from 2017 the orange section is all ad tech focused i had spent a number of years working in ad tech blue in the center is sort of just more social media focused more broadly and what sticks out like a sore from is this disconnected group of green accounts here on the left now it doesn't mean that because these accounts are all disconnected from the rest that they are all inauthentic for example within this dark green section there could be a buddy of mine from high school that isn't connected to your cat or periscope or social media or adtech for example right but generally speaking these were all inauthentic accounts this is sort of like the genesis of how social friends got off the ground if you look at an account like this one right here this isocial fans it's kind of in the middle of the purple the meerkat and the yellow the periscope communities because similar to myself isocial fans was streaming on both of these live mobile streaming platforms therefore kind of function as a bridge between those two communities we're conditioning now into farcaster this is a map that was sort of released let me just make it bigger here this was a map that was released last week and this sort of is a nice segue into into quotient in this particular map you have 16,000 accounts each of which has a minimum quotient score of of point five or at least did at the time when this data was collected that was november 2 so sort of the exercise here is we have 16,000 accounts and we wanna kind of quickly get an understanding of these accounts by default it's
before you go any further jeff let me just ask this really quick question you mentioned that the quotient score is a point five and this might be actually actually a question for jordan i'm not sure but we also talk a lot about nanar scores and that's more related to how spammy you might be and and things like that how are these two connected in any way or are you yeah so or is it informing the other kind of thing it's a great it's a
great question and you know the reality is if we're if we're dealing with naynar's user score if we're dealing with quotient score if we're dealing with open rank scores and open rank has
oh oh openranc's another one yep
two different two two different scores i think a lot of people lump all three of those scores as sort of meaning the same thing but to your point you know if you look at how the definition that each company provides for these scores they're slightly different so they shouldn't really be thought of in the same regard one thing that i like with regards to quotient versus or or open rank i think that quotient algorithm does a nice job at sort of capturing recency so you know like when martaza came onto the scene for example and was sort of growing pretty quickly you know it it it would take him quite some time to kind of really climb the leaderboard with regards to to neymar or open rank whereas with potions he could do it in a much sort of faster fashion i think there's a lot of value around that so yeah i would just kind of call it to attention that now shifting back over into into this map here so we have the 16,000 accounts but wanna sort of understand them what's going on with them so by default the account colors are set to community and i haven't labeled these communities but as i'm kind of going through some of these additional account colors you know keep in mind that we basically have a split down the middle here and then on this hands on the left hand side we have two different there's a top and there's a bottom right so if we switch it now to farcaster id the legend is going to change and now as sort of your your fit increases the node becomes darker so it may not become clear during the screen share but i encourage you all to explore this map on your own it can't be done via mobile it has to be done via desktop but sort of what you will see is on the left hand side it's much lighter so more of the new accounts are in the sort of the left hand side but particularly up here and we can see that by sort of using these these icons give me a second hopefully this cooperates the heavy dataset so i can i can now click this and it's showing me only the accounts that have a fid of 5,000 or or less and then we can sort of go here
adrianne you're gone sorry bye
now now that would includes the accounts that have fids that are 25,000 and below and we can see it's all kind of towards this top left the top left community this light blue one right so you can kind of you know the the point here is on the right hand side you have more of the accounts that have fids that are like a million and above we can look at things in terms of followers count and similarly you have this great gradient scale where if you have fewer followers you're going to be a lighter node more followers a darker node you can look at it in terms of following i'm gonna kind of quickly go through some of these you can look at it in terms of cast activity you know you can look at it in terms of ens so among these 16,000 accounts which of them for example have usernames that have dot eth in them and when i highlight that you'll see that the dot eth tend to be on the left hand side of the map versus when we add on the dot base dot eth they're all here on the right hand side you have this very distinct sort of segmentation between those two particular roofs if we look at it in terms of degen so and and the way i'm defining that here is accounts that have that sort of hat in their display name so if i go switch here to sort of only show the hat stays on we can see that there's like sort of a larger concentration on the bottom sort of right one so on this this green community is heavily sort of degen focused jordan mentioned earlier sort of some of the labels that quotient offers one of them is founders and builders let's say i wanna look at this map and i wanna see which founders and builders for example you know adrian is connected to so we can select yes here now we can go search for adrian's account and we can see which founders and builders adrian is following you kind of notice that like this this one sort of is different than the other founders and builders it's more on the right hand side of the map so in other words this account is sort of less similar to the others so i often like to in this sort of view when you have an account that's highlighted it's interesting to look at sort of the more extreme the outliers yeah yeah jeff x y z for example you know very active on farcaster but wasn't necessarily an og he didn't sort of you know onboarded with a fit of 5,000 or below so he's kind of more in in that area of the map right so when we look at it in terms of and you can sort of also look in terms of followers let's see which of these builders for example are followers of of nanish's account and we can go here for example and and and that sort of immediately is gonna become clear also we're seeing in general right like which of these founders and builders according to potions labels are furthest to the right and sort of we can see for example some of them we have sol roberts we have influence so influence is kind of
so fairly new
yeah advertising yeah and and similarly if we go look for the for the founder of influence i think his handle was is right here he also is kind of more on the right hand side of the map as opposed to sort of being on the on the left hand side of the map right so there's all sorts of fun things that you can you can do with this map again it can't be used on mobile unfortunately it has to be on desktop you could for example if you wanna get a sense for comparing the rankings of social forensics versus quotient so this is using social forensics influence algorithm and what i can do is i can just sort of cycle through these eight evenly split tiers give me one second here so we'll kind of see that with social forensics the the first sort of bucket is largely on the left hand side of the map and we sort of start increasing it to kind of include accounts that have less influence as we kind of go further and further along and you know you can sort of see that generally the left side of the map has has more has better rankings if we look at it into the quotient you know you can you can really visually see the difference here and that so here's the first tier and and you already have accounts that are up here which you know do not appear
earlier tiers right so yeah i mean i'll i'll maybe kind of leave it at that for now time always passes really quickly when i'm going
i mean i'm at
max so i don't know how much you know i actually
see some of those there with social but you and i spent like forty five minutes just looking at like all this stuff so you can spend so much time really diving in if you're a bit of a data nerd which i i think as many of us are and just find it really interesting so howard so can you talk a little bit and this is either jordan or jeff about how this all connected with the recent haberdasheries launch of habs and like how you guys worked with them to bring to kinda create first of all like what you know they're doing a couple different airdrops one is strictly for the holders the original holders of haberdashery and and dejuandao and then there's a whole separate thing they're doing that's around community that is including sort of activity that's happening now and i know that you're working with them and have a whole sure sure
i can quickly start there then i'll pass it to jordan so so this is the second project that social forensics and quotient have worked pretty closely together on the first one was noyce's airdrop slightly different kind of application and sort of unification between the two companies but in the case of noise quotient provided an initial airdrop list we overlaid it onto the map and sort of were asking questions like does this make sense after processing and looking through a ton of data points to kind of understand the position of the map you know does this make sense there's an area of the map that's that's less good if you will in the case of of the hap hap hap hap hap hap hap hap hap hap hap hap hap hap hap hap hap hap hap hap hap hap hap hap hap hap hap hap hap hap hap hap hap
halves sort of effectively sponsoring a a public good i think for those projects that are doing airdrops in the future a map that has as its base all accounts that have a minimum of a quotient score of point five is quite useful for those that wanna understand where accounts fall that maybe like how were they doing their methodology for airdrops where they shake out right you know jordan can speak more specifically to the methodology and the leaderboard and and that sort of thing because he's kinda more driving that piece whereas social forensics is kinda more involved in on the content marketing front go ahead jordan
sweet yeah i can share that that that'd
be great
on a paperboard just have a reference point
that'd be great because i don't know last time i checked i was number five and i liked that
now you're number four
yay yeah wait is toady still above me though that really annoys me i'm working on that
yeah i've i've respect
i mean it's seriously like motivation it's not oop a little bit of static there it's not motivation from a monetary perspective by the way in terms of it's more of a sibling rivalry motivation just to be clear like literally could be anybody else and i wouldn't care so go ahead you can go ahead oh i think you should hold on let me pull it up there we go
yeah i mean it's it's really interesting i think that more important than monetary like compensation people want to feel valued and acknowledged and recognized
yeah
which is something that like even andre like the founder of privy like when they sold to stripe he was like i wanna be on top of the creator's leaderboard and me i didn't buy a a haberdasher's nft at first because i was like oh i don't know like blah blah blah and then the leaderboard was out and i was like hey i drove some five volume i wanted to be on the leaderboard and be recognized right so it's it's a very powerful incentive frankly
so this and this leaderboard is only those who are holding either haberdashery or dejennao and then plus other statistic other things added in
yeah so zooming back for a second
yeah
so perp's initial thought was that a lot of planter tokens don't have good liquidity and other kind of ecosystems projects to be used liquidity incentives to get people to provide liquidity right those turn into kind of bonds use because like the incentives don't last forever and they get farms etcetera and purpose like oh well we could use social engagement data to reward lps and give them a boost for depending on how high their score is in addition to what they would like the baseline that they would get without such rewards so i got connected to them to basically create the leaderboard technology infrastructure to pull the people who are relevant originally lps but since the host got delayed the nft holders to look at the engagement that they're getting and then score them using our data so there's kind of like a wrong engagement score there's a momentum score so we look at like your week on week change in quotient rank and if so you get a boost if you go up a bunch and you get a penalty if you go down so this is designed to kind of benefit smaller accounts so if you have smaller accounts it's easier for them to have a good week and be higher right whereas we don't want like larger accounts like posting and eating up all the rewards so like i'll i'll i'll pick on jesse so like jesse so
great yeah that's you
can he doesn't mind
yeah he he doesn't mind right he's he's busy building base but he's not active in degen and haverdash or in degen communities so he shouldn't be on top of the leaderboard just because he's jesse it's like a form of rent seeking right so yeah so there's that social element and then there's kind of the buy volume that's being activated by their posts and we're going to take this model and expand it so to include token holders above a certain level of a certain threshold to include the l peers when the hooks are ready and then we're talking to perf about expanding it to other kind of projects within the asiandao community so like there's a lot of directions to take there also just make sure that people who are providing value or acknowledge have an incentive to stay engaged with the project and also kind of like fill in this gap with broadcaster and probably where like being a great creator a conversational quick view provider is really important and like needs to be tracked so like they're kind of like patronizing the development of that data right and insight and which
is great
technology so other people can access it
and for those who aren't familiar and we'll we'll dive into this a little bit after we're we're done chatting we'll dive into this a little bit more through perp's message about this but for those who don't know like dgndao was originally created to provide liquidity for dgn so that was the first use case that's what what happened there and then it went on to provide you know grants to certain builders and you know work to do this haberdashery was the second one to allow more people to come in and be able to again provide some additional liquidity so that was the first use case of dejindao and haberdashery so it makes sense that with this they're you know kinda kinda re up on that so this is the first lead reward where it's only going for two weeks i think is that correct and then it will start to incorporate other metrics is my understanding like once the hooks are out there it'll be the lps and then i think you just mentioned some other other things that'll be incorporated so really interesting i think there's you know this has been a continuous discussion in crypto for a long time about how do you incentivize and reward the true believers or the true users of whatever it is that you're creating and using airdrops in the most effective way because and rewards not just airdrops but rewards of any sort because we end up with we don't wanna incentivize folks to just come in and and spam because that's just not useful to anybody and they're they're obviously they're gonna you know pump and dump and see you so i think this makes a lot of sense to find these new ways to to really tap into the more valuable users of whatever your your product or thing is and it probably creates a little bit more sustainability down the road as well one thing else that's interesting to
really quick to to call attention to is you know when perp was working on this initially presumably he had no insight into the fact that farcaster was going to be you know ending this creator leaderboards program right right and from a from a timing perspective effectively if if you're holding one of these nfts and you lp you then get a percentage of the fees that's based on the sorts of accounts the quality of accounts that are engaging with with your cast right so in many ways functionally this can kind of effectively replace the farcaster you know leaderboard again you have to first be holding one of these nfts to sort of play in the game but you know for a lot of the folks who have the the yappers if you will not the traders the ones who have been really annoyed by this removal of the program you know i encourage you to kind of take a closer look at at what's going on with habs and as i just described this can kind of functionally replace the the forecaster creator leaderboard
yeah and there are a couple i think you know it's created a new little floor for the haberdashery nfts i actually looked and i was like i never i never bought one because i had the original d gen dao and it was like it was the same and it was originally just a boat and i was like i don't need another thing regret total regret now should've just should've just done it because i went and looked and i'm like okay this doesn't make sense at this point and i still shoulda just done it but you can't you can't even buy the djndao one none of them are for sale so your only way in is the haberdashery so go check it out i have no no dog in that fight so it's you know another way to get to get on that leaderboard and it'll be interesting to see how the same data is used like i like your idea that you're creating sort of another leaderboard for the creators to replace the rewards one because i think that could be used by a number of different people in a number of different ways like it doesn't have to be merkel the ones rewarding it can be anyone and i was mentioning that i'm like i wanna do a crowdfund where we just like randomly pick a number every week and and that's who gets it something like that
do you randomly do you randomly pick 69
every week randomly pick 69 every week and
37
for the culture or 37 or four twenty or whatever you know rotate it and have it be just something fun okay i see you shared something else what we got here
yeah so we're we're launching this leaderboard and it's gonna be the first leaderboard in our leaderboards app so you can kinda see some of the people who are ranking high this week but i just wanted to bring that up and the idea of replacing the the leaderboard because like we're launching a token and one of the principal uses of that token will be rewarding the people who appear on our core lead
love it
so one of them is creators one of them is traders founders token evangelists some other categories so there will be rewards flowing to those people through through question so
so you said there's gonna be multiple categories so different different rewards for different categories of of yappers if you will is that the way you're looking at it
and just all of the different kind of things that provide value to the ecosystem and that we use when we're delivering our analytics to customers so for instance yeah yeah i'll just i'll just leave it at that
very cool very very cool i think
this is breaking news by the way i don't know if jordan shared that publicly anywhere that you guys are sort of releasing creative leaderboards for place farcaster ones so yeah breaking news here on gm farcaster
this is very exciting
this is pretty opportunistic we haven't seen many app before but like yeah like you know you have to take advantage of opportunities attention and advance your narrative and this is one for us so i'll be doing that
there we go now we're official i was like didn't we have a breaking news banner i just had to recreate it that's exciting that's very exciting so when are you launching the leaderboard and the new token to go with it
the leaderboard like hopefully very shortly the last thing that i'm working with sagala from sultorius from laser on is like the embed for the shared cast but yeah so hopefully later today or tomorrow and then we're gonna add leaderboards for some of our clients so like the agenda and just a generic one for tokens so like a page that has trending tokens and where you can click into a token and see like a leaderboard that takes into account how much the people hold and how much
very cool
they yeah essentially but yeah a little break from the other app which is a big one but yeah
yeah very cool i'm looking forward to seeing that obviously because i saw my name a little bit up there so you know
wait a minute easily i'm easily where is mine exactly excuse me
are you i don't know but this might get you inspired
nowhere to be seen what are you launching a token on clinker or
yeah do you yeah we will be we will be clanking
fantastic all are you working with there we go are you working with the clinker and merkle folks on that launch i hope so that we can get you spotlighted and all that kind of fun stuff
yeah we we started the conversation
but
like i think i think that the position that we've been in quotient is like there's certain people like jeff who are like very interested in this topic and very like motivated to look into what we're doing and then they're like oh this seems interesting jordan seems like a credible person i trust jordan but for other people that i haven't worked directly with it's like well what is a question like you guys don't have a website you don't have an application i can use like it's cool that you know so and so batches for you but like do i really wanna save my reputation behind you figuring stuff out without any intangible that i can look at so yeah that that's why we're kind of pivoting towards let's get well chatting yes but also like pivoting towards let's get the mini app out because that's our primary touch point with users and then let's get the social deck screen around so people can see kind of the broader applications for the data and then we'll do the launch but yeah i've
i think that's a smart work for
yeah
as well
good
so before so yeah this kind of getting all the pieces together but yeah we're i
think that's a smart direction i really do it's like build the thing first and then launch the token because it gives you a lot more tangible footprint so folks know where to look they know how to verify once it you know that it's legit and all that kind of stuff so i like to
do yeah just get a sense of what we're going to offer because we're not like right you know doing lizards like we're not gonna do like analytics for your defi protocol we're not going to like help like bear a chain or some other kind of entity that isn't like aligned with our focus which is the intersection of like people create like where are people creating value on chain and doing innovative things where there's also kind of open social data and on chain data so kind of setting people's expectations where this is who we are this is what we focus on these are the types of insights that we deliver and kind of attract the right people to participate early on because i i don't want to i want to have kind of an aligned community you know and yes yeah
i like that i mean i think that's really smart and i also don't think there's some you know i would it's better to take your time and get it right than jump into like a token launch so yeah i love this anything else that we missed or didn't touch on that you wanted to shout out before we wrap and then we're gonna do a couple more news things because this is it for us this week and then we'll wrap up the show but before we let you go anything else that we may have missed or should be on the lookout for we got a lot of alpha during this this is very exciting love it
so just just look for the next thing just keep it yeah so make sure you're following and have notifications on for ruminations is what i would say yeah
and i guess i would just and jeff since i had the opportunity a lot of people in the ecosystem have provided a lot of support to quotient like jeff herb the sky castle folks like a very kind of like wide range of people like although i work by myself like i have gotten a lot of support from the community so you know thank you for having me on and thank you jeff for you know connecting me into this opportunity and i'm excited to you know build more visibly for more people
love it jeff any other last one
i just wanted to sort of like in the minutes before jordan and i joined there was this discussion around you know dan not being so so cuddly in in the feed i think i'm probably less cuddly than dan in the feed but i'll leave it to you guys to make that decision
just a smidge jeff
jeff you are one of these people that like if you have met if you've had a if you've met jeff and i don't mean that you have to have actually met him irl but if you've met him like in a like this on a video chat or something like that you i i can take a lot of what you say online with a grain of salt because of that because i've met you and i know you so it it becomes like a different way of a different lens to to sort of view you through so you may not be cuddly but we really love your your dad
my elbows are very sharp
you were a wrestler right you were a college wrestler
there we go correct
it's it tracks you've been a little cut i think you've been softer mhmm you've been more cuddly of late than mhmm when you jump
on this version can you jump on to the scene
the weather the weather's getting the weather's getting cooler so cuddling is nice
oh you
know jeff may i just cuddling may i meet you jeff
in the beginning dad and i butted heads quite a bit in the feed then i sort of got to the point where i was like what's the point like
you're disappointed this yeah so exactly i you know and that's my draft yeah
i because yeah the similar background and we're very critical people and we like look for problems and i was like oh like the auto follow is like this place is so like artistic i hate it blah blah blah and i was like i don't think that's gonna resonate well with people or wouldn't be any friends so i'm going to try to maintain a low profile but yeah it's it's like it's it's like the anger the i forgot the cuban peel skit where
yes
obama has his anger translator like yes i feel that would jump sometimes i'm like oh i'm glad someone said that
that's funny love it i love it thank you both for popping on we'll definitely love to have you back again somewhere down the road with you know when we have another another cool thing to to dive into i love the data jeff did you post the thing that you were just showing so that people can like dive in and look at it themselves is there a link to that somewhere
yeah so
on yours
if you scroll down on my feed it's maybe less than 10 cast down but it's maps.socialforensics.com/farcaster_nove2020five
just find it
on my feed
if you see it yeah how about the i'm gonna find it i'll throw it in the show notes it'll make it very easy to find but yeah you should definitely check that out yourselves so you can really dive in a little bit more find yourself in there like just poke around it's very interesting so thanks so much to both of you really appreciate you popping on and have a fabulous rest of your your day and your week and we're looking forward to seeing the new leaderboard app mini app
to you and and thanks for having us
thank you alright
you too thanks for having us
bye bye
the rest of your day
thanks to you both super interesting so so interesting we've got a couple more things we need to just touch on real quick and before we get too far from this topic i wanna just circle back to the habs launch really quick and just put a pin just like you know top top that off real quick and we did have this launch last week this is something as we mentioned dejenna is doing it's gonna be a bigger thing than you may realize it's not just limited to those who are holding dgndao tokens or haberdashery it's gonna be much bigger than that so introducing habs where social engagement meets defi rewards we're excited to announce the launch of habs a new way to earn more as a liquidity provider by being an active community member habs is a social mining project that connects your farcaster idea idea activity with extra rewards for providing liquidity using uniswap v four hooks and quotient's social scoring system we boost your apr based on how engaged you are in the community this goes on to a lot of detail so if you want to learn more please go to perps perps account p u r p and you'll see more information about that or go into the dgendao channel and i liked this from wake this was really helpful kyle patrick had said someone should write a backstory on what haberdashery is and it's pretty good at cc perp and wake and this was from wake tldr in early twenty twenty four jacek launched dgen and farcaster changed perp blunt in hand parlayed that opportunity into a new dao dubbed degen dao and later rebranded to the haberdashery that's when once oxen little additional note once oxen came up with the gentleman even though the ladies were like really but then we're like it's actually a really good name so we let it go so there you go the dao is flush with 3,300 k in treasury bloody but stable a community that actually participates in healthy relationships with farcaster's best devs and kols taken together and with today's launch and new direction it's one of the few daos in the arena doing stuff and we're fully aligned with farcaster as a trading wallet and social network so really interesting to see this sort of all play out and come full circle but this is something that's been around for quite a while so i jumped in like day one when they were like oh we're launching a dao for degen i was like oh a dao in guess how many nfts i bought you get one guess three yep but kept them all so easy so easy alright moving on
i think i'm not in any of these i'm not in any of these things this is not this is not my world
this is my thing i will i will try all the things this is from jacek and i'm not gonna read this whole thing just the just the beginning and you can dive in a lot of people have been asking what actually makes dgen different from other farcaster clients and the honest answer right now is not much yet that was intentional the goal for the first release was to get a clean fully working base client into people's hands instead of spending months polishing something in a vacuum so he goes on to talk about this is when the real work begins so you can go check it out ask for an invite and check out the new d gen client
moving on you had posted about this
he says going back to dugen client
when he's talking about like oh what's it different than forecaster and a lot of people ask them
about forecaster versus the base app i know yep i don't know if we talked about this on air last week or separately but just kind of like don't compare base or just on the feed not to compare baseapp to forecaster but to compare it to other alternatives yep but i think one thesis like that we've talked about even when it comes to meme coins like why do meme coins have any value and then you think about kind of communities and different brands i think there is a future where people wanna use apps for like slightly they don't even have to have that many different features but if there's slightly different aesthetic let's say one has a let's say one has a rainbow button and one doesn't that might be enough for you to use that client breaking news
well might be
our erica just announced uno has rainbow reactions so i just think that could wait
or can i have all kinds of reactions
for sure more and i but in terms of like it's like these subtle things that turn the app into experiences and different kind of communities so i think like why is it different and focusing on features may be the wrong question and i like his approach of like just make it on par like just make it an app and and then the expand from
there yeah
yeah and the will use it and then you see what they want right and then you kinda build for for them
build for what you're yeah and i think we're getting a lot of different interesting takes on clients right now between you know base has its own own flavor mhmm zapper has a very very trading focused where it's almost pulling out a lot of the social so it's very different and so all of these have a little bit of different bond is bonds is i think great for power users who need to schedule and things like like it's it good for yappers who need to reply to a lot of people all those kinds of things which i really need to start using that more and i need to check out uno i still haven't gotten on uno because i couldn't get on when they were early onboarding because i had issues with my phone so i'm hoping i can get on there soon
because well luckily you know people erica
erica i need access yeah but there was a while they weren't letting anybody else on so i i wasn't on yet so we'll see but i need to start using these other other things more often so i get used to breaking my habit here of being only on farcaster this is really interesting you were responding to woody's you should have a sound and he talks about sound as being he's talked about this before with sound logos or sonic logos and things like that you know the sound you hear when you open up netflix and stuff like that so i loved your response here what's your sound gm farcaster sounds our theme song which was created by super tight woody released as cco and now to shot prop chose it because it has a flamingo in the name not exactly it's about me it's for me that
i didn't even know that it the song is a
the lyrics it's not about me it's it's has me in it and it is related to me and in particular the flamingo that i now own so it's
wow okay so
it's about me it's about my it's about my my noun
it's your flamingo okay
yeah it's my it's my
alright
it's a whole thing it's a bigger lore there but it's yes it's part of the reason
so okay
and then our show openings and closings are always the same gm forecaster today is and of course bye bye and that kinda gives us those little bookends and clanker has a sound what's that sound
clanker has a sound clanker has a sound
there it is thanks to the creative genius of moon poppy and if you watch gm farcaster you can hear the actual clank clank right now in your ears yes there you go
and everybody types out clank clank yeah and i'm curious if you watch gm forecaster when you see clank clank are you still saying the word clank clank in your head or have you replaced it with the infamous that is moon poppy in his underwear in his kitchen banging a pot and i kid you not that's actually what it is it's amazing
thank you it's amazing thank you and i hope you all hear it every time you say clang clang or you type clang clang okay a couple more builder notes we had this from apex seven seven seven vailcash mini app deposit into vail privacy pools all within farcaster vailcash now supports setting up a vail account via farcaster as well as depositing to another wallet via the mini app vail and then you can also go to vail.cash and this was interesting this is the reason i'm showing this i'll hold my hand up and say i slept on a mini app for vail as i just didn't think it was a good use case for one but i was wrong distribution is distribution since launch pool activity has only gone up bigly so lesson there just lesson there if you're creating something definitely consider a mini app couple more things really quick adding namaste joe to my farcaster friends collection this is from kristen thank you sherra for tracking down this wayward gifter package which by the way i didn't expect to be so elaborate what a delightful surprise and i love that the namaste joe's are just popping up in all different places and i just
yes
just fun maybe i'll maybe
i'll bring mine to argentina i love that kristen has a whole farcaster like collection on her profile
i love that i'm sure you do i have they're kinda spread out amongst all my noun ish stuff too it's kinda mixed in doesn't have its own shelf but it's yeah there's a lot this from our friend brett no running by the pool there are six total nomi runner game versions og slime smoke mud wood and water can you collect them all and will you run forever so this is an nft but it's a game within the nft so really kinda cute so if you like pixel art or you like the nomis go check that out and one more quick thing because we still had stuff we hadn't got to from before this is our last day this is the only day that we are on this week so we are gonna be off the rest of the week adrian is going to argentina
leaving us all behind to head to argentina and you're gonna have a blast i know you are so we have to make the most of those we've got a couple more quick things and one of those is devconnect yeah i love it and i'm just trying to get this to come up come on you can do it i know you can because i closed it but we had a couple other things happening
come on
where is my dev connect stuff sorry this is all just moving slowly right now because it's like yeah you're supposed to be done by now so we had a couple other things that i just wanted to show and one of them was this come on from sangell we have warplet scenes so we have to talk about warplet scenes we can't we can't let that go by generate scenes with your warplet friends just tag them for now there is one theme to all scenes current theme is t j i f it's now switched to dev connect running this experiment up to 1,000 generations must hold your original warplet to participate one generation per person so pick your friends wisely this is not a mint i am fafo with the warlet factory this is for fun expect bugs share your scenes so this is really cute and our first one i don't know if this is my first one i had a couple we i did a tgif one and then i did a devconnect one and the tgif one we were crying let me see if it'll come up which was hilarious so the tgif had everybody in an office with cubicles and computers and all the computers in our scene have down only happening oh this is the other one this is the devconnect one so this is the current one and you can go add additional folks so i just added you and linda and i i love that i'm facing this way because i'm not even going and you two are this way it's kinda funny and then this one we're both crying because the markets are down and i'm like but why is adrian crying she doesn't even look at charts like it doesn't make sense they're like well she's crying because you're crying that might be it
i meant that
i meant that might be it and then we had sheeplets from base wtf this is crazy these are just crazy so your pfp becomes a sheep
so this is funny the are here farcaster pro only dwr told us to love the but like linda said they're kinda ugly in a cute way so we made something even cuter to balance the ecosystem open the mini app to meet your custom sheeplet and join the flock meet your sheeplet meant and let the ba begin and it's just really they're really funny so go check that out if you haven't already and then lastly we have a lot of stuff coming out of devconnect so this was i think this is happening today this is noun's faire in the ethereum in the devconnect ethereum's faire area i believe so this probably happening now so go check that out and then also we had an app town hall i think this is also i don't know when
i don't i am
so confused with the time zones but it's soon
sometime tomorrow the app town hall is tomorrow
yeah but what day time is it there now i don't know but it's tuesday 10am in argentina yes so go check this out this is from chaskin i'm very happy to hear you exciting news to share oh go ahead go ahead no
i'm just gonna give advice like if you're at devconnect follow the devcon account on farcaster or yeah i think it's ef devcon maybe on twitter is the name
i think so
yeah but there's also a dev connect channel and there's a dev connect app and if you've got a ticket you've gotten links you've gotten emails like with links to the app and and follow along
so follow along but this is from chaskin we're hosting the first ethereum app town hall together with nouns octon octon app aave ens domains and poap at devconnect next week this week this is not a marketing event in good old town hall fashion the teams are pulling back the curtains on their operations and sharing their roadmaps in this open forum so this is a state of apps and ethereum so go check that out i think is linda gonna be there also i think she was gonna be there as well so go check that out and also follow the dev connect channel this is where you're gonna see everything that's happening if you're at dev connect please be adding things here because adrian's also got a fun little thing she rigged up for this to all be flowing into the booth so there you go so very cool lots of fomo lots of jomo looks like everyone's having a blast already there was already the unit you the uniswap cup so that's already happened congratulations to that so lots of cool things happening so go check it out and adrianne did i miss anything i think that's everything we've been going long but we had a great great guest today so alright that's it everyone it's been fun we will not be on for the rest of the week when do you get back i don't even know when we're coming back we'll tell you later i don't know what's going on we'll be
back next monday
okay i wasn't sure when you were coming back so i wasn't sure when are you returning okay so we will be back next monday until then everyone have a lovely week if you're in argentina enjoy and we will see you next week and until then everyone
