Hi Casters. I love the idea of streaks. I used this mechanic to build a very large and loyal following of readers on the AVC blog. I posted there every day for something like seventeen years. That was a hell of a streak. The psychology of steaks is so powerful. So I'm taking advantage of the new streaks feature in Farcaster and starting a steak in the AVC channel

Streaks are one of the most potent growth hacks. They’ll probably be part of an accomplishment system, another unholy beast of addictive user retention. This will almost certainly juice the DAU numbers. This will not improve the discourse. “Do I feel the urge to say a thing strongly enough to post it for its own sake?” This is a healthy filter. Endorphin gambling with tips, simulated accomplishments, etc disrupt the natural flow of conversation. Prioritizing the Q in QDAU is how Dan got us all here in the first place. It’s too early to start leaning toward the DAU side. Streaks implicitly asks the s tier content fountains at the heart of this app to give even more of themselves to the network. Here’s a falsifiable prediction: After an initial surge, most top users will burn out on streaks, it will become the near exclusive province of low effort posters, overall content quality will drop, DAU will drop, & Dan in his godlike product wisdom will jack the feature out. New experiment on Warpcast For a small group of users, we're starting to generate in-app and push notifications for X mentions. i.e. when you link to a tweet and the user is on Farcaster and we've manually mapped X <> FC, that user gets a notification similar to a quote cast. If the the experiment is successful, we will likely roll out a way for anyone to opt-in to linking their X <> FC accounts to get similar notifications.
