Proof of Concept: I told a few people working in similar fields as me that there’s a new social media platform with a component where you can accrue cryptocurrency through usage (I also told my wife more cautiously so I wouldn’t sound like the “BITCOONEEECT!!!” guy to her). This economic aspect is intriguing to people even if they’re aloof about crypto. But their first question was a predictable one: Does that translate to real money? I decided to investigate that. Thanks to people’s generosity I had accumulated a bit of DEGEN and decided to test the liquidity. After claiming my tips and sending them to MetaMask, I took half the DEGEN people had given me and put an order to switch to USDC. After two tries, the order filled. I sent the USDC to Coinbase and got a deposit of about $100 to my bank account. Modern man is “homo-economicus” to a large degree and it definitely feels good to make a little money. After testing it out I’m glad to report back to people that, yes, the platform is real.

I love Farcaster, but we're the minor leagues when it comes to content quality. If a major influencer from Insta / X / TikTok made Farcaster their primary platform, it would be trivial to quickly become one of the top 10 accounts. The good news is they're not here yet, so now's the best time to grow your audience.

One of the things that we need to get better at is really supporting our homegrown creators. There is so much discussion about needed more content or bringing people from Xitter or wherever here. At the same time we have teams like /bcbhshow and /gmfarcaster doing the work of producing videos/podcasts, trying to engage the community and create and perpetuate the kind of culture that can attract and retain an audience. They are just building, experimenting with format, and most importantly bringing to life FC related topics through the lens of their personalities and perspectives. Lots of potential there for future episodes, but more so if we all participate in the conversation. That's what makes this fun. 💛 So, highly recommend them to anyone that loves to let their Farcaster freak flag fly and I know that we all do. So, Let's GO! ✌️😁

You can still hide and ban with moderation tools, but they are not in the Warpcast client. If you want this level of control you should: 1) Enable moderation 2) Disable the "recent" feed for your channel ("Edit Channel > Configure Moderation") At this point your channel will only show content the moderator curates into the main feed. But you might not want to be responsible for curating everything, you probably want some basic automated rules, so: 3) Add a moderation bot like /automod or /airstack and set up some rules, like "anyone I follow can show up in the main feed automatically." 4) If unwanted content gets into the main feed, use /automod or /airstack Hide/Ban actions to hide content or ban users.

Pretty cool workflow unlocked this morning on Warpcast. 1. Posted a task in /bounties via bountybot 2. High-quality, almost complete work done <3 hours later 3. Bounty hunter receives $75 USDC for 30 minutes of work 4. I paid her in seconds without leaving Warpcast Complete flow for getting work done within Warpcast.

the /toe-spacer and @randomerror.eth phenomena provide a few insights: 1. creating environments where norms and taboos break releases fresh energy from existing qDAUs. 2. although OGs respond better to these emergent memes, there's actually nothing holding new users out from getting involved. many of them do. 3. memecoins haven't been cracked on Farcaster yet. creation/distribution mechanisms are suboptimal for this medium. we almost need our own meta. until the mechanisms are well understood, capital won't flow in. 4. content is in fact the main bottle neck to growth. @dwr.eth is right. (it's not marketing). 5. Farcaster is much more metamodernist than postmodernist than X for example (hate to sound academic but no better way of describing it).
