āWhat are you doing to help small accounts on Farcaster?ā We have a lot more work to do, but hereās what weāve done in the last few months to improve: 1. Moved initial feeds away from a follow-based model to algorithmic and interest-based model 2. A daily set of boosted accounts with <10K followers 3. USDC rewards normalized by followers 4. A bunch of experiments and tweaks to improve the home feed to show interesting casts from people you donāt follow yet More to come!
some thoughts and questions given recent news re: "interesting content," changes to how channels work to me, social platforms are marketplaces with "buyers" and "sellers" (in this case, of content) - creators are "sellers" of their content goods - enjoyoors / vibing / curators are "buyers" as a content creator type on fc, i have expressed my concerns that the current fc algorithms punish new users too hard, which reduces possible audience sizes and makes the place not attractive to content creator types (and not fun for content consumers either!) (i also want to emphasize that i myself am a "buyer" on other platforms like instagram, youtube, etc.! there is no value judgement to be either and we often play both roles.) so what if instead, *user intent* is composable? similar to how in role-playing games, you can play as characters with diff types of specialization and it's set "per session," since sometimes I want to broadcast and share my content, and other times, support my friends with theirs
TL;DR for /advocacy /advocacy is a Warpcast-native nonprofit working to drive civic engagement around onchain technology in the U.S. through education, outreach, and grassroots advocacy. Our Roadmap: Electoral Advocacy & GOTV: Increase voter registration and turnout by helping people understand how and why to vote. Research & Polling: Use real data to inform strategies in the onchain space. Storytelling & Advocacy Training: Equip our community with tools to advocate through storytelling, messaging guides, and understanding legislative processes. Townhalls & Education Events: Organize discussions on legislation and onchain tech benefits. Behind the group: @clinamenic, @lish.eth, @ssj2, @oliverzerhusen, and @javabu.eth. Fiscal Sponsorship: We are fiscally sponsored by @endaoment, allowing /advocacy to focus on its mission while still being able to accept tax-deductible donations as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (link coming soon). Message @advocacy to get involved or with any questions!

I've been thinking about the conversation about "interesting content" because it makes me wonder: what IS interesting content? Why am I here? I came here to start from square one, largely because I didn't/don't love the noise that's in all my other web2 newsfeeds. But when asked what kind of content I *want* to see...I don't really know. I can say what I do like so far: - @chinmay.eth 's Guess the Movie (I like games) - @samantha 's /humankind candles (I like buying things) - the recs and convos in /privacy and /politics - @afrochicks 's content (and all real people posts) in /fitness I do miss the early days of /manga-anime š„ŗ So what is everyone else looking for, exactly? Could you even describe what "interesting content" looks like for you?
gm farcaster. you are interesting.
Iāve never seen so much self-loathing as I have in these ānot enough interesting people on farcasterā discussions. Weāve got people saying basically āeveryone who was early here sucks and isnāt interesting, and only has a platform by virtue of having been earlyā and that just such dramatic drivel imo. Iāve met some of the most interesting people in my life on this app! For a niche community to scale, it was always going to take time, and a lot of luck. Stop hitting yourself (and invite some friends over.)

no successful app ever makes that their primary metric
Not enough interesting people. Most of the early accounts on here just arenāt very interesting people, at least to the broader world. Many of those accounts became enshrined here as tastemakers. Result is that cringe-y hustle-y, crypto-y people who arenāt interesting in the bigger world do well here in this small one. Which then repels many new people (interesting and not).
Two more days to go, letās talk about building the creator economy with Jack, Gracie, @0xluo.eth @cybershakti @gregarious Welcome to submit questions :)
āWe have GM Farcaster mug at homeā I sure am glad thereās a merch shop launching soon š š¤š¼ That was one for the books. Happy 1st Birthday to /gmfarcaster ! @nounishprof and @adrienne are something elsešthank you for 24 hours of fun and cheers to a yearš„
What stats or information about your channel do you wish existed within Warpcast? Also, if youāre building a more advanced channel stats / info tool for channel owners, please reply with a link?
There is an obvious solution to lack of interesting content on Farcaster: make the bottom half of Warpcast a subway surfer screen Hope this helps
Due to popular demand -- we reopened the /gmfarcaster birthday mint! Leaving it open until Tuesday morning and we have some plans around our merch shop that we'll be sharing on Monday. Are these two things related? Tune in Monday! https://highlight.xyz/mint/66e3ca0dce8f04af471d0252

lol when you put it like this, that's tough
interesting content canāt just be short form videos, aesthetic photos, elites dunking on each other, connecting with your IRL friends, or any other market already captured and at scale has to be something you canāt get anywhere else: being early, emerging scenes, groups of geeks largely free of mops and sociopaths
Lack of interesting content is part of the issue, but I donāt think itās the biggest cause for the decline in DAU. Warpcast is not friendly to new users. Hell, a lot of them end up in the āsee more repliesā section on their 1st day. Ultimately, I donāt come to here for the content. I come here for the people.
my two cents and in-good-faith interpretation of "not enough interesting content": @dwr.eth DOES NOT mean that current users aren't interesting enough @dwr.eth DOES mean that there are not enough of us so that the supply of interesting content on warpcast simply cannot compete with the supply on other platforms

GM Farcaster is turning 1! Happy Birthday @nounishprof & @adrienne. Sorry I couldn't stick around for the trivia, but it was great to see so many cool people in that part of the stream. I had spotted a typo in the poem I sent you, so I just updated it. Again: Happy Birthday. https://zora.co/collect/base:0xd5af90cce8ae32677a48abcaaa63afde90740b04/5?referrer=0xB31Faa5c1D581C70F4b6ed095c944936cBd2a357
This isn't the main reason that people aren't onboarding onto Farcaster Warpcast has done a poor job of creating network effects where active users try to onboard their friends. I think many active users are discouraged to attempt to onboard their friends or social circle bc a) it costs $5 and b) there's not enough fun things for friends to do with each other like Words With Friends, Wordle, HQ Trivia etc. People already have too many messaging apps so I think Warpcast needs to offer messaging/social plus more fun activities in order for new users to onboard to yet another social platform or messaging app
Not enough interesting content
Farcaster new fid register is now <500 per day. What are we doing wrong?
We've done over 22,000 onchain account recoveries since the system launched last year. These are people who lost seed phrases but because of Farcaster's onchain recovery system they were able to regain control of their FID in an address they control. https://docs.farcaster.xyz/learn/what-is-farcaster/accounts#recovering-an-account
join us next week for the FarHack Kampung Kickoff! on 9/16 we'll have a virtual AMA with @dwr.eth as well as talks from @dabit3 and myself, and then the hackathon will commence & go through the 18th! thanks so much to our sponsors, attendees, and guest --- we can't wait!
