we have to have them on too yeah we gotta have them back on yeah we have lots of so many we have so many people we need to get to get on the show we're working through them i believe this week we are gonna have humpty and sahil talking about open rank and kira i think it's kira so and and what's happening there so i think that is going to be we might have a slight schedule change to third from friday to thursday so we'll but more about that when we get that finally confirmed but let's dive in we've got some things happening on the timeline so we're gonna start with some of the updates from the merkle team this from gabriel introducing data usage settings on warpedcast requires app store update by default we don't autoplay videos and we load lower quality images on slow connections now you can enable this feature for cellular networks or to be are to be always on more improvements in the works and this might relate to something you were showing
some unsolicited some unsolicited minor feedback minor annoyance feedback on the timeline
what i was trying to find it there it is minor annoyance war cast not optimized for slow bandwidth difficult to use on airplane wi fi it's 1000000% better and more performative versus a year ago and likely not a priority but wanted to share the feedback was hoping to get through all my dcs on a flight but a lot but getting a lot of no messages yet errors so that is good to know yeah i mean like hey they were listening they were listening no one quick quick turnaround
i was on a i was on obviously airplane wi fi trying to get through my dcs last week and i was struggling and merkel loves feedback even so and and they're pretty responsive so i wanted to just post it people have in the past you can dm dan feedback he'll listen even yep and he appreciates it even if he doesn't take the time to kind of thoughtfully reply it's all getting through when you give feedback in a i think positive constructive way

yeah and no one from merkel responded to my cast and i was surprised at how many people jumped on to also say this was problematic for them i've had issues be with slow with kind of low bandwidth before but so many people also responded that you know i take for granted bandwidth is free for me i have like a you know a unlimited is that what we call it unlimited plan yeah obviously home high speed but in other countries and in other plans people are paying

per byte so there were a lot of people who who also complained anyway what happened it was like less like a few days later it was like some changes so love you guys

there's stuff like this all the time yeah yeah so that's yeah so that's what that's what happened there and that's why everybody's a little a little perturbed and annoyed but yeah so we'll we'll move on from that but it was fun to see dan looking for a summary so it was and brooke's gonna give a great one this from chaskin.eth who was on with us last friday and it was a great episode so if you missed it please go back and give it a listen if you want to be featured this is from building something new on ethereum i want to show off your app and get feedback from core devs and ef ethereum foundation researchers on a twitter space so they're going to be doing some twitter spaces and he said if you want to be featured on the first call apply asap we've received some great applications and we'll be reaching out soon to schedule a quick chat to see if it's a good fit loving the excitement can't wait to bring core devs researchers app devs and the community together for this so very cool to see and if you want to if you're interested in applying and being on this call go check this out here's a submission form for you and these links will be in the show notes and then also from chaskin was this and i'm not gonna read this whole thing as long but this was a thank you jesse pollock appreciation post and it's just all i'll say is ditto yeah amazing and jesse is probably one of my favorite people in this space by far so love that adrian you were chatting about your ai bot so i'm gonna read this but then i wanted to ask you some questions and see how it's going i worked on the transcript pipeline of a gm farcaster ai bot project today the pipeline is important because access to transcripts is what sets gmfc one hundred and one apart from other bots so i need to make it ridiculously easy to upload new transcripts pipeline steps generate transcript from youtube video clean transcript for known spelling issues like nanish prov and dgen break into chunks and create embeddings from chunks upload embeddings to vector database it's a lot of work updates added better support for batch processing i can now safely reprocess videos that have already loaded into the database necessary for when i go back and work on improving the quality of transcripts pipeline is solid and working smoothly and as of now gmfc one hundred and one has access to transcripts from 170 episodes i plan on to upload the remaining episodes over the next few days once that's complete i'll shift my focus to focus to enhancing the quality of the bot's replies so how's your bot doing
the bot is getting there like i said

it's so dumb well no it's still dumb but i've i've accepted the fact that it's gonna be dumb for the next few months like weeks months i don't know how long it's just it's gonna be dumb for a while i stopped trying to improve the quality of its replies and i've just really been focusing on how do i make it so that it has better access to our info like our shows so that's the transcript pipeline i've said this in past shows but i'll say it again it's really easy to look at all these other bots and agents on the timeline and be like those are so good and mine is so bad and i'm not a i'm i don't have a lot of experience doing ai development so i'm i keep reminding myself i'm gonna double down on what makes this spot unique everything else i'll be able to learn from others and get it up to some level like in the future but i really just wanna kinda nail the the transcripts so an example like these spelling errors really drive me crazy

and i figured out a way so what i was doing was i was kind of loading it into a vector database a vector database will allow kind of these these these transcripts which are words to be stored as numerical values so you can do semantic search like so yeah what i was doing is i was kind of updating spelling errors in the database afterwards but it wasn't actually changing the embeddings or like the numerical values for for the spelling errors so like when i would give the bot our transcript to say hey this is some context for you to talk about it would spit back nanish prav or d g e n

so i so the spelling errors got updated it would do it but it didn't doesn't actually so if if when you
change it doesn't learn everything
changing well if you're changing the meaning of
a word
yeah that doesn't get recalculated and i was too lazy to fit so i fixed the whole pipeline so now i can kind of safely take a video that we've already loaded re re like fix the transcript if i want to change it and then reload it and that should work now so yesterday one of the bot bot did have a spelling error in a certain episode so i kind of wanna i'll do a little test where i fix that spelling error reload it ask the bot the same question and see if it
gets rid of it fixes it cool it's been fun to watch your journey i like it yeah it's been fun

it's the same questions that devs are asking like time and time again since the beginning of time are you building your own thing are you buying something that exists are you using open source what are your different priorities people on tech twitter get very religious about tools and kind of you know this is how you have to handle things there's never one right answer so i thought it was a it was a really nice post that kinda talked about their history of decisions for for job processing they were using a tool for this and they outgrew it they talked about what was missing from it why they wanted to build their own they also gave a lot of credit to i don't remember the name of the of the company they were using but said it was also like they they shouted them out as being a great tool it just didn't meet their needs going forward so sds shane more of this this year would be great we love it
