gm adrian good morning are you excited

0:05Speaker 1

yeah huge day

huge day

0:07Speaker 1

yeah we had dwr

0:09Speaker 0

we have dwr coming on like in about fifty seconds so let's get to it i'm gonna throw up the intro we'll be back in forty seconds and then we're bringing up dan romero so go look for us on twitter on youtube and let's get and retweet all our things alright see you in a minute

0:33Speaker 0

1:11Speaker 0

gm farcaster it is april wednesday april 2025 and you are here with knowledge prop and adrienne ford twenty nine minutes of farcaster news to start your day but before that we're gonna bring on up dan romero welcome dan welcome back i should say welcome back glad to be back excited to have you here but you're you're coming to us from the new from the new booth

1:39Speaker 2

yeah this is the call booth call booth

1:42Speaker 0

the call booth exciting it's very big it's you need to like we need some decor in the background

1:48Speaker 2

call booth but

1:49Speaker 0

we need

1:49Speaker 2

to get a rug because now everyone downstairs can still hear me especially because it's really loud

1:55Speaker 1

and some artwork

1:57Speaker 2

yeah it's you know

1:58Speaker 0

yeah a little something

2:00Speaker 1

plant maybe a plant plant

2:03Speaker 0

a plant or two some artwork get get ted on that we need something something in the background i mean you've got incredible forecaster artists i think they could they could come through with some cool things for sure so we're excited to have you here adrienne where do you wanna start where should we start what do you wanna ask first where do we wanna start there's so much happening

2:25Speaker 1

i know dan i was saying earlier in the year i'm like come on once a month and keep us updated i think it's been two months there's i think it was like pre linda ted wojciech joining i oh well we

2:38Speaker 2

did the live we did the live one at eatdenver so

2:41Speaker 0

that's true yeah we did the live one with with ted at eatdenver for like a few minutes yeah that's true but that was the last time we saw you

2:48Speaker 1

i was just asking my husband about his twitter algorithm like i'm like are you seeing anything about farcaster on your twitter because i go on twitter and it's like literally every post is people joining farcaster so i'm like this is either my own little siloed niche and it's not really happening or like is there a wave what's happening

3:06Speaker 0

what are you saying

3:07Speaker 1

yeah well how does it feel

3:09Speaker 2

well so i think we've upped our game in terms of big big quotes marketing on twitter we have a social media intern running the farcaster x y z twitter account it's gotten some

3:26Speaker 0

actually

3:27Speaker 2

yeah we have an intern yes but yeah i think we've gotten some good feedback that the account is appropriately kind of gen z coded or you know i guess

3:39Speaker 0

it's got

3:40Speaker 2

a vibe encoded yeah it's got some vibe yeah you know propagating the memes and just just kinda mixing mixing it up but i think that there's just a general when you have compounding progress and we've increased the size of our team by 50% so now we're actually doing even more stuff that bleeds out people especially in a bear market are like well is there anything positive happening and to have kind of weekly progress happening over on farcaster it's kind of that squidward spongebob meme where people are kinda looking through the window being like what

4:15Speaker 0

are they doing over there

4:16Speaker 2

why are they having fun why why are they tipping each other i think that that is the single biggest thing to kind of grow a social network i think there's a lot of opinions on forecaster as to what we should be doing but the reality is that if you just look at every social network with maybe the exception of tiktok which we could talk about they all grow just through word-of-mouth like ultimately the people on the social network convince other people to join because it's fun or great right not all apps are like that there are other apps out there like uber is a completely different growth but i think with social network the people is the product in terms of like why people wanna come and why they wanna stay and i think that has been working pretty well for us i i think we have a long ways to go right like i don't think we've we've really unlocked a lot of sign up growth in the scheme of things i think think we've done a lot of reactivations and ted has been doing a ton of you know kind of in the trenches hand to hand combat type stuff onboarding journalists you know onboarding different on chain ecosystems crypto the game obviously was was like a really great buy in a real really great reactivation but i don't think we've found that kind of like one growth vector and we're gonna keep looking for that that that that's our job

5:32Speaker 0

i loved the crypto the game moment where it was really funny because oxen had said right before it started oh it's gonna be really quiet around here during crypto the game good time to get on the rewards leaderboard and i'm like i don't think so this time and it it wasn't at all it definitely kind of took over the feed in the best way it was so fun so it was great to see that kind of happen and then see dylan recognize and even write about like that shift and i think those kind of moments are amazing use cases for channels and the fact that you guys were boosting that i think was helpful too so i'd love to see more of that during those kind of when there's a moment when there's something happening that could get a little more attention that's also gonna drive new users or reactivate people too i think it's great so in other words when cast out happens love to see the same thing

6:23Speaker 2

we're we're we're happy to do that from the cast out channel and do the same thing that we did so

6:28Speaker 1

i'd

6:28Speaker 0

love to see we need a merkel team we need a merkel tribe playing we'll see we'll see if we can get some of them to play they may not

6:36Speaker 2

probably get one or two but yeah

6:39Speaker 0

they may not

6:40Speaker 2

we got we got a lot of like stuff for for your heads down on right now

6:44Speaker 0

dylan's gonna play be fair

6:47Speaker 1

yeah cast out dan is one of the best ways to pressure test frames

6:51Speaker 0

yeah actually we've had a lot of load we've had a lot of load testing that happened in break breaking things during cast out so as as a horse facts can attest we broke yolink a couple of times in a couple of different ways what are you looking forward to in the next couple months even i know we've got far con coming up coinbase wallet activation soon ish like what's what are you kind of heads down thinking about and preparing for in terms of that

7:23Speaker 2

yeah so obviously far con coming up that's going to be an amazing opportunity to to see a bunch of people in in person and i think you know there's a couple of days worth of events not everything is just up the the main thing on friday i think you know so there's gonna be opportunities the team whole team from merkel will be in town for a few days i think we're also doing something on saturday too just in case people who are in town or didn't get a chance to go like so i i think there's gonna be plenty of opportunities to kind of connect with other people on farcaster in person which is great and i think url to irl still very much is a powerful component of what makes us a little different right like you know it's interesting like blue sky had a conference i think you know they have 30,000,000 34,000,000 users they had a 50 people show up like we we have you know so like in terms of the density of the core part of the network and and people who actually wanna hang out i i think like forecaster does really really well relative to our size but i think the the just like opportunity to kind of see everyone once a year like i think has a ripple effect in terms of just like the the kind of long term vibe and retention of the network which i think is is really important that said i think we have three kind of main priorities for like what we're working on and the first is we're improving many apps and kind of like crypto ux which includes wallet that's like the most people on our team that that's what we're heads down on and the idea is that that's the differentiating thing for us which i actually think if you if you go back to what we talked about last farcon it's like growth crypto create cozy corners developer legos i think those yeah roughly mean the same thing i think cozy corners might be the one where we've had to change it a bit but like to go through that growth crypto that is mini apps that is wallet making that just like a better experience you probably saw that we have the minimized mini apps yes

9:31Speaker 0

love you could

9:31Speaker 2

actually have a live stream that is running on kind of the app wall you know you're kind of browsing so like all that stuff is is brand new we're gonna continue to improve that ux i think that the second priority is you call it like the social part of teams and or or people on the team and that is very much focused on growth and and then specifically onboarding and user experiences is where we're spending a lot of time and so the big thing that's gonna happen here unlocked actually by snapchaine in the background but is we were optimistic that we can significantly reduce the cost of sign ups which just allows two things one we can make that sign up experience feel more like a web two social app which i think is actually important right so 50% of people hit the payment screen and they they don't move forward so you're effectively doubling growth more or less if if you don't have to pay and then i think a second component of that is there are a lot of apps in crypto that have a bunch of existing users that when they think about paying $2 per user they're gonna be like this is not feasible whereas in a world where you're you're kind of at a tenth of that you know 20ยข a user for example or or even cheaper people might just say hey okay you know what i'm gonna take my existing user base and kind of like seamlessly in place add an fid for all of them and and now they can participate on the network and that's actually something that we are figuring out with base and a lot of the heavy lifting and kind of like solving the edge cases and technical stuff at the protocol level that we do for base to kind of get the protocol ready for an app that has you know on the order of you know millions of monthly active users right so like an order of magnitude larger than where forecaster is today i think that will be a great case study and you could see other apps that have their existing user bases kind of consider to you know integrate forecaster some some level and then the last one is just there's a bunch of stuff that's happening behind the scenes of the protocol right snapchane is like a huge upgrade to just like the scalability of the protocol i don't i don't know if you guys remember last year like supercast which was like having a lot of frustration of like he was behind the network and a lot of that was just grew so fast and so much the system we had put in place just wasn't keeping up and so snapjean is a like a significant upgrade to everything and and we're optimistic that that that can give us you know pretty significant headroom to scale and then enable things where we can actually lower the cost of sign ups knowing that when you do lower the cost of sign ups you're gonna have more kind of like spammy type users signing up you're you're gonna have good users too but like i think that like that's one of the considerations it's like you just don't wanna open up the floodgates and then have the network get overwhelmed and so having that kind of scalable like foundational infrastructure in place it's it's not something that an everyday person on farcaster sees

12:33Speaker 0

right

12:33Speaker 2

but like you're gonna feel it in the sense that the network will just work other apps will work that that that is like foundational so getting that right so those are those are the things that i'm

12:43Speaker 0

most you feel it when it doesn't work that's for sure

12:45Speaker 2

so exactly

12:46Speaker 0

yeah we remember

12:49Speaker 1

dan and kind of an engineering question about protocol and kind of hubs to snapchain is and i and i think i know the answer but i wanna hear what you said is is solving for distributed distributed system social network at a protocol level is that a solved problem

13:11Speaker 2

no because i think that like no one has done this actually at sufficient scale i mean you just look at the major social networks there many orders of magnitude larger in terms of just like daily active users than where farcaster is and if you look at the architecture of all the kind of decentralized social we're the only one that is kind of approaching it more like a blockchain so this idea of like global state like there is no kind of like walled garden of data whereas contrast to some of the other networks like an at pro blue sky or mastodon fediverse type thing they're federated which is like permissive but like there's a lot of like at scale questions around like how do i get access to all the data so that i can like run an app like can you cut me off like there there's like a bunch of architectural decisions that allow them to scale very well right now but then at some level of scale do you run into like the email all got bully problem where if you've ever tried to boot up a new domain and send emails from like if amazon and google don't trust your domain and there's really no way to kinda like make it work you go to spam and it's like this like whole opaque process to kinda make that work that effectively will will happen in my view at any sufficient scale with any federated system just because like it is actually economically not feasible by that design to just like have like super permissive open apis and then there's like kind of this weird incentive whereas i think with farcaster one of the constraints we've said is like you have to have the data be available in the same way that it is available on blockchain which there are a lot of hard engineering problems to solve for there but if if we do it like i mean just look at bitcoin and ethereum like the the that does work at sufficient scale both in terms of data number of people who can connect to it and stuff like that and so i think we are making a lot of progress there but like to get to a a world where you have hundreds of millions of daily active users on a distributed system like forecaster i think there's still some pretty gnarly computer science level problems to solve in the future

15:17Speaker 0

alright cool and there and there were some questions about like with the coinbase wallet integration and assuming that that will scale up sign ups are we ready for that with snapchaine or will we be

15:34Speaker 2

yeah so we're we'll be ready i i think there's like a combination of like think about it as like sign ups themselves are actually not that stressful in the scheme of things yeah it's it's signed up users who are using the kind of like they're

15:48Speaker 0

actually using it

15:49Speaker 2

yeah we don't really have like block space in the sense of like a blockchain but like you can effectively think of it as like there's only so much storage on on snapchaine at any given point like you can increase that but it creates more complexity for the system there's only so much bandwidth there's only so much like you know literally the like read write of like every cast every reaction coming into it like an actual server right like that that that is like tps is the way people think about like blockchain and like solana is like big thing is like they wanna get to some crazy number of tps but i think with farcaster we're confident that snapgene can handle about a thousand tps which is like okay and then i think like there's headroom to get to probably somewhere on the order of like eight nine thousand with the existing architecture and system and then there are other scaling techniques there but like that's a lot of activity on the network relative to where we are today which i can go into

16:44Speaker 0

yeah i liked it when we said this will help us go between 10 and a hundred x i'm like that's a kind of a big range i'm like where exactly

16:52Speaker 2

yeah i think it's hard because you don't know how the systems play out like the shape of the behavior yeah you know it's just everyone has a it's like mike tyson it's like everyone has a plan until you get punched in the face it's like everyone everyone has an idea of scalability until like people actually start using the system and then like you get weird usage power

17:07Speaker 0

low testing

17:08Speaker 2

oh i didn't i didn't actually think people would do that

17:12Speaker 0

we didn't know you were gonna do that yeah okay i have a couple other questions that came from casts that are out there linda had casted what do you believe is the single highest impact thing that the warpcast team could do or build to grow mini apps lots of interesting answers here what did you take from some of those replies or what are you all thinking about in terms of that

17:38Speaker 2

yeah so i think that we ask those types of questions all the time just to kinda like gum check of like what we're thinking and you can think of it as like there's a combination of we live and use the app every day right like i'm a pretty active user right so beyond just like mini apps just like any feedback then there's the stuff that we have surfaced in the past like anecdotes via like a dm or a cast or a bug report or stuff that you know we're annoyed with and then those kind of casts are always useful because it can just like surface up a chance of like something that we might have missed or like you know something that gets a ton of engagement it's like maybe we should like kinda double click send it like a follow-up message etcetera i think with many apps if i was to kinda like look at that there are some tactical things that are improvement but if i was just to kinda like stack rank what's the most important thing it's docs have been like a thing that we just like have never really invested in and been great at and i think mhmm we're at a stage where we're getting a lot of feedback from developers in the ecosystem like users is the thing that they want more than anything else but if you were to ask the second thing it's like this idea of like stability which everyone has a different definition for that but ultimately i think that is like commit to like actually having really solid docs when you change things like make sure that that's clear like an easy place to find that and then i actually think that there's a big aspect of like we've done a lot of talking to new developers in the ecosystem having linda on the team has been phenomenal for that you know you see someone saying like oh i'm launching this thing on on chain on twitter you can slide into their dms on twitter being like hey have you thought about doing that as mini app i just

19:13Speaker 0

did that i just did that yesterday with somebody who was launching something yeah exactly

19:17Speaker 2

what is the what is the actual url that you're sending to that person because i think like mini app stuff concaster.xyz is like pretty good relative to where we were but honestly it's still a little bit like there's a lot going on there and it's like well like what is the single artifact that you send to someone that clicks like why mini apps so the stuff that linda's doing in terms of this video content but also like within kind of a thirty second or sixty second overview you can understand like what is mini app what is the opportunity like how many total users are there like how many funded wallets like what kind of transactions can i expect this idea of like get to your first thousand users that that i think is like nailing that and so again to put the big scare quotes of marketing it's it's product marketing for developer platform right it's it's like what is this thing why should i care how much work does it take in order to get the benefit like and and making that as clear as possible is i think like a like a big priority for us and then there's all these just like little paper cuts actually one thing varun built a a mini app last week i don't know if he's planning to release it but like he actually sat down for two days i think he was like three feet away from me but like went through our own docs you know and and and he he's like familiar enough but like can shift to a mode of like pretend that i don't know anything about this ecosystem like read this through the lens of like you know kind of a new incoming person and so as a result of that like we had just have a zillion little improvements and like copy edit changes that like help understand concepts actually one of the reasons we changed from frames to many apps linda talking about people that just like what's frame like i don't know yeah and then the people who knew what a frame was but haven't been in the ecosystem they're thinking of frames as the the v one whereas right v two is is akin to telegram and i think like it's just like you as much as frames is like good branding for farcaster i'm partial to that because it's there it's just like make the hard decision move to many apps just simplify and keep going

21:17Speaker 0

yeah no it makes a lot

21:18Speaker 1

of sense and are you the way you describe the the docs you're working on which is really kind of on the marketing side it's the what the why are you focusing on the how like if you like how to quickly convert you have an existing app how do you turn that into a frame here's like kinda almost like in the tutorial here like the quick hello world style apps

21:40Speaker 2

yes so two things here one we've actually on this massive docs we actually put an llm text file like which is like kind of in vogue right now so that you can drop this into cursor you know clock code or whatever you're doing that actually like helps a lot for people in the sense that a lot of people's like first way of like building now is like i don't need to read your docs like just let my ai read them for me and and get started i think the the second thing and this has been a big hobby horse of mine is horseback actually did a a youtube video and again this is a little bit of packaging in terms of like we could feature this better when we launched v two in in december we're live coding on a like youtube video in less than ten minutes he was able to convert uniswap which has an open source app to a frame or you know now many i think that as an artifact going back to this idea of like what is the one thing you share with people there's there's two two types there's the person who's getting started on an idea that that you probably wanna show it's like get up and running really fast with your idea prototype and like great and then there's another thing where hey i built this crypto website this mint site this like whatever base paint like pick pick your favorite how can i go from website to mini app right in the least amount of time possible which actually it's not that much work but like we have to explain the core concepts like what are you doing and effectively you can think of it as just like taking your website and making it you know mobile optimized in this case it's mini app optimized and so getting that nailed i think is a really core part of this like work

23:19Speaker 0

i think it it makes so much sense to i had somebody yesterday telling me they're launching something in may and by the way adrian they're coming on that's the thing i added to the calendar and immediately i was like well you need a you need a mini app for this like it's obvious it's a game it's it's mint you're minting an nft then you're playing a game it's like okay well that's easily fit into a mini app and so i you know said hey you should talk to linda tagged him on that post it just makes a lot of sense so i i think you're just gonna see more and more of that like of course why wouldn't you have you know access to this audience in such an easy way so especially if it's something you can just plug and play very in ten minutes you know that's a no brainer

24:04Speaker 2

to be super like i think like you know obviously samuel has been giving feedback on this for a really long time jc four p like all the amazing frames

24:16Speaker 0

incredible

24:17Speaker 2

now mini apps like created and then feedback on like hey these are the paper cuts like i've i've you know built half dozen dozen mini apps at this point like here are the frustrating parts like team is really trying to take that feedback and be like how can we squash as many of these pain points and and make it as easy as possible and and we're not out of the woods but like it is very much a priority for us and and we really appreciate the feedback

24:40Speaker 0

i also wanted to touch on this sort of the growing farconomy with first with rewards then with tipping and seeing how this is all sort of working together this was fungible talking about farcaster gives me 10 i tip 10 farcaster friends a dollar i get a dollar tips from 10 friends on farcaster i spend $10 buying things on farcaster and i i see this playing out just myself in doing these things and it's really interesting to now see more people talking about it on twitter you know talking about it in general memeing it and what are you seeing what are you hearing is this going where you want it to go are there other ideas you have around sort of this sort of bar economy building and and how can we help with that

25:30Speaker 2

yeah so i put out a cast in the fall i think it was like make money comma then friends and it was a little controversial

25:37Speaker 0

and i had a bunch of people

25:38Speaker 2

you know give me opinions and be like i i'm not here for the money or like you know that i'd find that distasteful or like you know i'm only here for the money

25:47Speaker 0

i don't

25:48Speaker 2

want the brands the reality is farcaster is a choose your own adventure like you can come and use farcaster as strictly a and i think actually had a good cast about this today even this morning

26:00Speaker 0

yes he did

26:01Speaker 2

where he he basically was like

26:02Speaker 0

i got it ready

26:03Speaker 2

conversion it's like yeah you can you can be here it's like strictly economic like all the plumbing is there all these different things you can be using warps slot every day like participating in eggs like hoping the rewards happen get tips great okay that's like the extreme like you're only there for the money and then the other person is like posting in a solo channel my lady memes for like literally like it's it's insane like the the collection of memes is like but like pick the version you want and and you know there's a lot of dials that you can do like in terms of like you know flash like if you don't like meme coins just put a dollar sign in your mute button and you will literally never see a meme coin on broadcaster in your feed like again period and here's the thing the reveal preference of this is i don't actually think people want that because they know that there's that one thing that maybe that they wanna participate in yeah and so then it's like okay so you you've gone from like principled i don't think that this is good to well i don't wanna completely remove my optionality yep and so i think i think it's just like it's an emergent new kind of social network it's actually a really good clip i think i shared it last night

27:16Speaker 2

packy who i've known for a really long time and and just been on farcaster for a while and then alex danko who i've known for a while and is also on farcaster we're talking in a very long podcast that had nothing to do with farcaster brought up the fact that farcaster is this like emergent behavior weird kind of frontier of the internet where you know you can talk about whatever's happening on like traditional social networks but the reality is like you can just speed run things and like like all the stuff that happens on farcaster it's it's permissionless it's programmable like you can kinda do this everyone has a wallet so you do get things like dgen and moxie and eggs and then you have all these mini apps and you know wifu frame like all everything that kind of like pops up right and so i think for us it's about kind of increasing the velocity of of money is a is a thing that people talk about in the economy i think that's actually a really important thing for forecaster and i think tips the the feature that kind of worked on here and and block him in terms of she's always doing all the design but in terms of like the the important thing to think about is if people get used to doing transactions daily in a kind of social way right and that that social spectrum can have the non speculative stuff tips like literally just sending a couple of dollars as kudos appreciation or you know buying something like eggs right and then like playing that yeah but the point is is that you're actually building a user base where you can have like actually daily transacting users like in terms of like the the the social network and that is that is unique there is no other social network where you're you know again scale's not quite there but at the same time like the percentage of the kind of like core of the network that is transacting every single day and trying new things that that that is the thing to make the bet on and going back all the way to our priorities mini apps and wallet is the differentiation for us and so metas and weird social kind of things that come through like the on chain personality test is a great great example i think like and one of the reasons we're actually pushing so hard on developer rewards that reward on chain transactions is to me that's what make mini apps actually unique is there's some on chain component whether it's you're paying the developer because you enjoyed the experience or there's some collectible with it or there's some other other kind of mechanic with it i think that that is really critical and then really tying onboarding to you can kind of think of it as like we have to get you in so make it as easy as possible to sign up get you a good feed because i actually think that that is the single biggest thing that's gonna create some level of retention and even if you churn and you come back six months later that initial feed load that you open up based on that first time you signed up is actually pretty important but once you have that the next two things we need to get you using many apps to show you this differentiated stuff and then we need to get money in your wallet and so like those three things is like feed or you know sign up feed mini app wallet like that is the the mantra internally of like how do we get every user through that

30:25Speaker 0

and the mini apps can be the thing that makes it sticky for some people too we know there's people who they started showing up every day because they're playing farcade or farville or whatever and that makes a huge huge difference i know you have to go but i have to ask you this because this was really funny this is from eric this would have been a perfect weekend for a moment of cinema episode i miss it stairs into the distance

30:52Speaker 0

anytime coming back anytime

30:55Speaker 2

i'm here right i'm i'm my budget for podcasting is is a % focused on farcaster

31:00Speaker 0

great

31:01Speaker 2

i i may come out of retirement at some point in my life for podcasting but it probably isn't soon

31:08Speaker 0

i have to okay well anytime

31:09Speaker 2

three kids under four and in a startup figured that was part

31:12Speaker 0

of it

31:12Speaker 2

so like i really don't have much time

31:16Speaker 0

i have to tell you though i i have used the moz with brian armstrong in class so that was an assignment for my students a couple of weeks ago where they had to watch that and pull out three interesting things and the thing that they commented most about was the fact that he got a tutor for biology and they thought that was like so interesting that somebody at that level would still be learning new things in that way and i was like see

31:40Speaker 2

i think it's actually more common than you'd think like my wife actually you know not not billionaire brian armstrong but like i think she was starting to kinda get interested in nuclear she was between jobs she found a physics grad student which by the way like grad students they they don't need that much money to like to like do something and really really nice person and basically helped tutor her some like kind of physics stuff oriented towards nuclear and nuclear engineering and then she ended up starting a nuclear company with a you know kind of like someone who's deeper in that space but like i i think it's like a very underrated thing i do think ai is probably gonna like basically make it to everyone you have that which is great like then it's like yeah you know it'll cost you $20 a month in a chat you could use subscription but the idea of like and and obviously you're a professor so you probably appreciate this but like you know most people stop going to school yeah and then like they never interact with like another professional person maybe you have like a tennis coach or something like but like the reality is is like coaching is great like you you actually get better a lot better faster because someone who knows what they're talking about is critiquing and and giving you advice

32:50Speaker 0

i think the lifelong learning thing is what i really tagged into that too it's like this is important and i loved that the students picked up on that and i think that was a huge lesson yeah for them i know you have to go adrienne anything else last minute quick

33:03Speaker 1

when is warpcast turning into forecaster

33:06Speaker 0

good question

33:07Speaker 2

so i don't think we've we've made a decision there and i think we'd still kind of do it as an fip and walk through it i think we wanted to kind of put the trial balloon out there and just kinda see opinions i think generally i would say most people who are building in the ecosystem focused on like growing users anything that simplifies and like makes it easier for people to onboard and all of the kind of like interviews we've done a month in on some of these creators that i'm with ted so they're all super confused still still about warcast and forecaster so like yeah you can say all you want about decentralization and principles and whatever i think the reality is it's extremely confusing for normal people and we need more normal people to sign up for forecaster and use forecaster in order to make the thing valuable that said i think like we wanna kinda think through all the pieces and then and then get input as you know despite popular belief we we do actually seek input from people when we are kind of thinking about big decisions

34:02Speaker 0

we see it alright we know you have to go we will see you at far con we'll be up in the little media space come visit us and we'll chat then

34:11Speaker 2

see you bye

34:12Speaker 1

thanks dan and we're hanging out everyone

34:15Speaker 0

yeah nobody leave

34:17Speaker 1

everybody stay here now we can talk about dan

34:21Speaker 0

now we can talk about dan that was great i love it when he pops by i feel like i get energized by it so very excited and we have a few other things to talk about i wanna jump in to like related to this you're getting an autograph good good you'll be there doing autographs from us or from dan doofy we'll also sign autographs this is really cool to see 5,537 unique users have received a weekly usdc reward and i didn't get to show this while he was on but i loved this meme so much from ramsey hey at least we're getting paid right can you believe some people get more than $25 a week to cast here i only get 10 what do you mean you get 10 i only get five five best i got was three and then you guys are getting paid it's a perfect meme perfect meme just have to have to just i mean it perfection if you're not if you're only listening to this please go look at the screen really quick because you have to see it to understand it but it's really good love all the things we're seeing from the rewards this week and then people then tipping and combining those two things worked really well i feel like

35:40Speaker 0

let me grab this so you were this was the i just tipped and i added the sum of as well they need to just add the sum of in there for us because i keep adding it as well this from android sixteen dan

35:55Speaker 1

tipped a hundred people

35:57Speaker 0

oh did he really oh i

35:58Speaker 2

didn't even know this

35:59Speaker 1

yeah dan tipped a hundred people and i'm not doing that so you will it's just sum up

36:06Speaker 0

sum up i tipped like 21 i think and i couldn't get it to work last night and i think i was like oh no did i break it again and then it worked for me this morning so i thought i was gonna have to and i literally got a error message that said dm woje and i'm like okay so dm and

36:26Speaker 2

woje again

36:27Speaker 0

jeez but it didn't work this morning this is from android 16 between the rewards and tips the fc economy really comes alive on tuesdays this feels distinct from my experience and other social products particularly the relationships strengthened by economic bonds where else can you show up and have your internet friends be telling you in cold hard cash that they value you that is very nice i do love that and that's been happening even with degen you know even before this moment so this is just making it much easier to recognize who is actually interacting with you and i've loved that that's been super helpful to give me that quick understanding of what's happening but this she stole your thunder adrienne

37:13Speaker 1

but the the important message is getting out

37:17Speaker 0

it's getting out

37:17Speaker 1

the meme is spreading it's spreading happy

37:21Speaker 0

this is from triumph a serious note tips are sweet and fun but i get it might be a bummer if you don't receive any if this is you please know you sharing your thoughts and parts of yourself here really is appreciated it matters far more than a dollar tip shout out to the ever thoughtful homie erica for first bringing up this point well i don't know if it was first but but but okay

37:46Speaker 1

being first being first isn't your worth either

37:49Speaker 0

isn't your worth so adrienne what do we what do we what do we say here just to just to clarify and put a explanation point on it

37:56Speaker 1

a nice little reminder of regardless of whether you're being tipped or not that is not where your worth comes from because you and i'm gonna i should make some eye contact you aren't good enough you are smart enough and gosh darn it people like you

38:13Speaker 0

people like you d'awhoofy don't forget that d'awhoofy don't forget that a few other fun things on this topic this from wow bestie i posted you casted wow bestie you casted let's be clear about that they gave me a hundred dollars i whispered thank you this is good but i have to i'll have to reply on this and correct her really quickly but i'll tip her while i'm at it this from sonia supposedly i'm pregnant i'm going to have another baby all the first time trimester suffering will be worth it if this announcement affects my warp cast rewards rank

38:51Speaker 0

so go i'm gonna even recast that go like that one that was kind of fun

38:55Speaker 1

don't like it she's at 69 likes

38:58Speaker 0

oh don't like it don't ruin it

39:02Speaker 1

let her

39:03Speaker 0

so i thought that

39:04Speaker 1

congratulations sonia congratulations

39:06Speaker 0

sonia and also yeah let's help with the you know those diapers are expensive this from matthew b the plan contribute regularly

39:14Speaker 1

especially if they're not made in america

39:17Speaker 0

especially it's going to be really expensive jesus this is yeah it might be time to switch to those ones you can wash but also you the plan contribute regularly to a sufficiently decentralized network of builders and early adopters called farcaster and use the money earned from a warcast rewards leaderboard to purchase a bosch dishwasher this was commenting on briley's i just want enough farcast rewards so i can buy a dishwasher love it already showed this i love this so many fun things and this was from woj about tips are live to changes this week tips are now visible on your earnings page select all button for chads like jacob and a lot of small fixes that i hope you will not notice which i thought that was interesting so tipping is live it's going now at the same day as when the warp cast rewards are out there on tuesdays so that was a nice little switch

40:18Speaker 0

alright hold on now i gotta switch over to my other set of links yes there are more yes it's true

40:24Speaker 1

okay

40:25Speaker 0

it's that kind of day

40:27Speaker 1

that while you're doing that i really liked how dan what dan said about increasing the velocity of money and what that like the impact right so make it super easy and fast to exchange value throughout the network and we're seeing that i've never heard that term before i don't think he invented it but i have to like it it just remind me of like removing friction from transactions like yeah yeah physics physics lesson when you remove friction it increases the velocity yeah so

40:53Speaker 0

i had some interesting conversations too with people about how they're you know kind of not not complaining but they're making comments about like oh i never get that much or and and like oh how are you getting that many people and it's like oh i know what it was too it was on the comment from seneca commented about being in 400 and he was very excited and i just commented back if i'm under 200 chances are i'm dead and it's honestly just because i spend so much time here that i cast a lot so there is casting a lot but there's also casting things that are that other people find interesting it's not like and i i don't wanna say it's not hard it is it can be hard to find your audience like look at jrs who i literally kept promoting his stuff who was who's one of the coaches at university of florida basketball i'm like he is casting some really cool things and nobody's saying it because he doesn't have enough followers but then he ended up in the top 10 this week so there you go that's what it took and he still doesn't have that many followers but because so many of us were like hey you guys gotta see this this is very cool so that's another way you can help people who maybe don't have as big of a reach if you have a larger reach if you were early early you know cast your favorites i love the follow friday idea you know shoot out you know shout out to whoever you think is interesting that other people might be missing so yeah so there you go so jrs ended up with i i think i casted about him i don't even know how many times and he ended up higher on the leaderboard than i did so there you go abundance all right couple more things this from emma about farcon introducing your farcon twenty twenty five community talks and by the way if you didn't know even if you're not at farcon all of these talks are going to be available afterwards so you won't have to miss anything so this is who is going who this was a vote that was taken and these are the six who won again if you were not chosen it's not your worth you're still good enough smart enough and people like you making mini apps go viral by alamo and dottie that's farville from farville fame among other things the farcaster flywheel by phil amps there you go ship a network not a product by jihad decentralized ai it needs a rebrand less idealism more incentives by yb dacc accelerating with intention by tayab building on farcaster a one year tale of serving farcaster companies by samuel huber some clear themes here thank you to everyone who submitted a talk and voted this year can't wait to see these talks and then rewatch them in perpetuity online and i feel like limon phil and samuel could be like a panel just a thought like i feel like they would have some interesting things to play off of each other so maybe just a thought for emma but what did you think of the talks are you excited

44:12Speaker 1

i on the plane when i was traveling back on sunday i read through all 35 to its i was like yep wood wood watch wood watch wood watch wood watch all so so good and i'm yeah i mean the the community has spoken

44:31Speaker 0

the community has spoken and coming soon to a far cry new year for more fun content is the on chain creator house that's going to be happening the same day as builder's day so if you are not a dev this is going to be a really fun place for you to hang the second round of approvals for applicants to on chain creator house nyc will be going out at the end of the week make sure to apply soon to participate in the largest on chain creator residency in new york participants will have twenty four hours to complete challenges designed by our partners base farcaster rodeo club pods little nouns and more tba so if you are a creator or just interested in maybe developing those skills even if you're maybe not doing that regularly like at an afro chicks level go check this out i think this is gonna be really fun and you can go apply just check out humpty's cast here i'm going to try to go to all the places on that day and i haven't exactly figured out how that's all going to work adrienne's going to be just hanging at builder's day hopefully creating an amazing gm farcaster mini app

45:44Speaker 1

not gonna be just hanging

45:47Speaker 0

she's gonna be happy

45:48Speaker 1

i am gonna be hands on keyboard vibes putting something

45:54Speaker 1

just i like this in the chat humpty too much dev vibes need more creator vibes and are boosted really really want creators to vibe code mini apps

46:06Speaker 0

so there you go

46:08Speaker 1

there was always that separation

46:10Speaker 0

i'm sure you would

46:11Speaker 1

get like early early on farcaster it's like you needed more content but then it was like focus on the devs focus on the devs we'll bring we'll create apps by the way that was the meta two years ago was we need lots of clients you need lots of lots of clients attract devs so you can get lots of clients that will attract more users you know and you kinda have that virtuous cycle what we've learned over the years you know you may or may not agree with this conclusion which is that you're the app developers can't are are are not well funded enough and it's difficult to to grow that way so then the shift had focused to frames v one which were not very dynamic and couldn't do that much with to now many apps so within the largest client so and even two years ago the ability to do like vibe you know like the ais were just coming out you couldn't really code so now we used to always talk about there was too much love for devs not enough love for creators

47:10Speaker 2

yeah

47:11Speaker 1

and now we have

47:13Speaker 0

a third party i think we've got a lot more love for creators now and but we still need more right we still need more we need to make it easier and we need to make distribution easier easier for people to find all of us so but we're getting there and i think that's what mini apps will help with as well the pods mini apps amazing stream i saw you in in here another app that's amazing and those are a little bit easier to support you've already got some support built in with the developer rewards but also like the cost isn't probably going to be as significant as running a client so it's going to make it a little easier to continue longer term so very cool and paragraph yes paragraph is is great as well i love paragraph okay few more things this from anari from base getting lots of questions about mini apps and the new coinbase wallet here are the two most common one how do we partner with you to get included you don't need to the beauty of using open primitives like many apps is that there's no gatekeeper if your app is built to the spec it will show up in coinbase wallet no partnership required two will my app work well great question and the honest answer is always many popular ones we are testing today do not work these apps slightly deviate from the spec in the way that it breaks ux we're publishing best practices next week and hosting sessions to help make sure that your app works well out of the box we also recommend minikit as on chain kit to help to make sure your mini app works well if you're building a mini app and have questions about the new coinbase wallet drop them below so they just released this mini kit to help you create your mini app and have it be compatible with what's coinbase wallet is going to be integrating so zoe is helping with this a lot so hit her up or comment here on anairis cast any thoughts on that very cool to see them like leaning in for sure

49:23Speaker 1

very cool yeah have

49:25Speaker 0

you checked out the many guesses love how

49:28Speaker 1

no i haven't but i just love how like even in our ecosystem how often we have to be reminded what permissionless means like we're just so trained to like hey reach out to someone how do we partner and it's like permissionless partnerships are super cool

49:43Speaker 0

yeah like just you can just do it yeah you can just you can just do it this is

49:49Speaker 1

from bert go ahead before just so you know i'm i am trying to engage with the chat and bert wurst asked could we define vibe coding

49:59Speaker 2

go ahead

49:59Speaker 1

and i was just tagging no i gmfc one zero one our bot answered it yesterday so i was just tagging oh cool in the feed to answer it so look for that and burt wurst got an ens so congratulations the puppy is getting more on chain because you

50:17Speaker 0

have tried

50:18Speaker 1

to search for mum mumups look it's not mumups anymore

50:21Speaker 0

it's not mumups anymore mumups has now changed to burtwurst for sure for real so burtwurst dot eth who is our emotional support animal for all of farcaster so there you go and honestly i was going through the cast that we curated for today and i think half of them were bert so i pulled back a little bit but so speaking of bert this was from bert in honor of waka flocka joining farcaster my next step in my music journey is listening to for my dogs by waka flocka for the first time i went in expecting height i came out feeling understood this is not just a song this is an anthem a lifestyle a loyalty pack the okay so bert actually watching

51:12Speaker 0

this was everything absolutely everything

51:14Speaker 1

bert is making my dog look so untalented and dumb my dog looks

51:17Speaker 0

like i

51:18Speaker 1

never watch tv or music video

51:21Speaker 0

like i mean bert you're just you're putting all of our dogs to shame and and you're well deserving of i know my dog's over there somewhere

51:32Speaker 1

of lord cast rewards all of them

51:34Speaker 0

yeah yeah ridiculous they're doing nothing you're doing nothing for your treats over there sir get to work mookie and then this was really funny proof of bert from my haters cause somebody said write farcaster name on paper and show with this dog they didn't believe that the dog was real so dog is real the dog is not ai

51:55Speaker 1

yeah you could have i bet you could have ai make that video though

51:58Speaker 0

maybe maybe but i think the third step is on third is real couple other things really quick this from jesse pollock and there's a couple posts about this but i picked the one with the that it has been givelify reminder the base core team is hiring key roles builder roles around the world engineering cross full stack protocol smart contracts design on both app and builder tools finance product and data science too so lots of things happening over there if you are interested go check that out

52:35Speaker 0

this was really fun we tried out the fc audio chat the other day and then added some feedback to jc4p the funniest thing was the bunching of the emojis which i just thought was hilarious they just kept collecting and it was really funny but thanks to everybody who popped in that was fun we may have to do more of those soon this i thought was just really cool split's team is cooking and this was very cool to see paying contractors on chain as a us company automate your w a nine collection and ten ninety nine issuance with teams so this is very cool to see this is something like i had we've had to do this and you know have to do it off chain and all those those things so go check out splits if you are not familiar and you have a business that is operating on chain because it is a super helpful tool that we are now using couple more things hold on i gotta switch to a whole different set of links i'm not even kidding yeah it's been it's that kind of day i was separating things out so i would would be able to stay on top of things here we have to shout out octant so octant is our new premier partner this is the first time you've been on since we've had the octant sponsorship because we i launched it last week with

54:03Speaker 1

i missed it

54:04Speaker 0

you missed it you totally missed it

54:07Speaker 1

but i missing collecting cards degen collecting

54:10Speaker 0

all the freaking cards so if you don't know what we're talking about octon team has been launching d gens and dragons it is a mintable card game and they're only available for one week so there's up to five cards now where's the fifth one that's the fifth card today that just launched i think today yep so i haven't sponsored this one yet but i sponsored the one before it i think is the one that is currently oh no maybe it is this one so what we're doing yeah it is this one i did sponsor this one and i did sponsor the one before it as well so what that means is if you see that we've sponsored it you can go claim it for free free not just for a little bit of free so if anything's been sponsored you can go mint really quickly oh here they go they're gonna be gone in a second and pick that up totally for free including gas so very cool way to support the industry and support octant which does on chain which does on chain grants so very cool organization which they do using their 100 eth that is staked they use the yield and help fund public goods projects in the community including gm forecaster so go check them out they also have this that's happening i don't know why you pulled it from there was it not on warcast i thought it was but maybe not we're excited to announce the projects of our climate round this is rockton the selection process was detailed one where the folks at climate coordination network led by carefully vetting interviewing and using different scoring layers for the decision read the climate program team's reflections in the in the blog post linked at the end and congratulations to all these winners allocations will be going out soon so that was really cool to see as well and they've also been working with our friend naomi afrochicks she's been doing the octon street interviews and doing trivia to onboard new folks to crypto which she did with base just like permissionlessly and now is doing it with octant so very cool to see and this was from afrotix i was onboarded to crypto in 2021 from a random gary v tiktok and onboarded to farcaster by an alex mazajam i can't say that dracula dude post that popped up on x i would encourage people to keep posting on web two platforms because it it actually can work with onboarding so very cool to see this love the work that she does thank you naomi you're amazing and thank you often for sponsoring gm farcaster they're also gonna be sponsoring castout which we talked about briefly but lots of new things coming on that in a couple of weeks what else adrienne what did i miss

57:23Speaker 1

on on what topic

57:25Speaker 0

exactly too many things oops whoops i was looking to see if we were live on abstract and it looks like we disconnected but i was trying to check to see if we were still going

57:37Speaker 1

yeah how is that going today i learned we're on abstract

57:40Speaker 0

we're on abstract i think we're still we've got we've had like people pop in and watch but it's kinda hard to see if it's actually going i think it was going and then it somehow stopped so i'm restarting it but anyway focus adrienne i'm looking

57:58Speaker 1

at my notes

57:59Speaker 0

there's a lot there's a lot

58:00Speaker 1

i'm locked in

58:03Speaker 0

there's a lot this has been really fun thanks everybody for popping in adrian's going on vacation

58:11Speaker 1

so we just talked for a whole hour without mentioning maybe we mentioned tariffs in the beginning as a joke but no mention of of charts or tariffs just building

58:19Speaker 0

not today yeah just building

58:22Speaker 1

for people who joined in the last half hour and there's lots of you we had dan romero founder of farcaster on for the first half hour so go back and watch that because that was really fun

58:32Speaker 0

really good yeah

58:34Speaker 1

one thing he said which was that we need more normal people on farcaster how do we i'm curious how people feel about that agree disagree am i not the only am i not enough being the sole normal person on farcaster

58:50Speaker 0

you're not you're not normal adrianne is still insisting that she's normal and then all you have to do is ask her what's in her wallet no let me rephrase that what's in your warplet and the fact that you have an answer to that question in multiple interesting coins in there is enough you're not normal anymore sorry

59:09Speaker 1

i know and i did onboard my friends last week and it didn't how'd

59:12Speaker 0

that go not well not well not well i did i was going to bring this up with dan but we didn't get a chance about speaking of the economy i did like this cast from him it's not a loss unless you realize it and let in other words if you don't sell it's not a loss

59:35Speaker 1

that's right paper gains paper losses

59:38Speaker 0

it's fine

59:39Speaker 1

i don't i say don't ever mess with leverage and this is like evergreen cast you know related to any market

59:47Speaker 0

yeah unless yeah unless you were messing with leverage then gigi

59:53Speaker 0

you could spend your share i literally talked to this is a great photo representation of said situation so i i literally was talking about that in class last night i'm like here's what's happening see these people freaking out they're leveraged right they're clearly leveraged so we talked about margin calls the stock side and leverage and yeah all those things and and tried to encourage them not to do that alright so adrian's going on vacation we are gonna be off next week i am gonna be back friday with the creators so ryan and jordan are gonna be joining me talking about what they're building with base creators and doing we'll do a quick little update on the news of course in the beginning so that'll be friday we're gonna be on at west coast friendly time so 11:30 again on friday and then we'll be off all next week but we will be sharing some interviews i'm gonna clip some things together and we'll have those going probably at 11:30 each day monday wednesday friday just for shits and giggles so that hopefully if you miss some of those things they'll be they'll be playing on your feed and there you go

61:08Speaker 1

for people who need to hear our voice yes monday wednesday and friday for habit and then the week after is gonna be a great

61:14Speaker 0

week amazing

61:16Speaker 1

because we're back and we're getting closer to farcon so just there's gonna be just a lot of i think momentum and

61:25Speaker 2

yeah

61:27Speaker 0

yeah yeah you can all go on vacation next week

61:30Speaker 1

yes it's loud last week if you're keeping yeah if you're keeping track i was on vacation last week too so life is good in my for me

61:39Speaker 0

but i'm actually gonna take a i'm gonna take a week off too

61:41Speaker 1

this time sort of last week i was skiing which means not a lot of casting this coming week i'm going away with my family and i think i'm gonna cast a ton

61:52Speaker 0

really you think

61:53Speaker 1

yeah so no live streaming but i think i'm gonna because i'm doing a ton of touristy things and i feel like that'll

61:59Speaker 0

be fun for the feed

61:59Speaker 1

the nerdy travel notes

62:02Speaker 2

yeah love that

62:04Speaker 0

and i'm just about to hit that

62:11Speaker 0

realize gains

62:13Speaker 1

but i just keep checking the chart the currency charts of i'm going to england and

62:17Speaker 0

i'm like oh that's

62:19Speaker 1

right yeah i was like the vacation just keeps getting more expensive because of the dollar

62:24Speaker 0

i know

62:25Speaker 1

come on and i

62:27Speaker 0

if only you could pay you could pay in

62:29Speaker 1

in crypto

62:31Speaker 0

i know i guess it doesn't matter right now it doesn't matter

62:34Speaker 1

nope don't wanna pay crypto nope not realizing not realizing those losses nope anyway but yeah i'm excited for for a nice week off i'll see you on forecasters so just say hi there

62:48Speaker 0

and i'll be i'm gonna be focusing on two things stuff for farcon and cast out which cast out is gonna launch after farcon so i'm gonna try to get all that stuff organized and ready and oh also taxes

63:02Speaker 2

i feel

63:02Speaker 0

like i already did taxes but i didn't because we did the other thing we had to do by march 15 so like i feel like i did them but yet i did not so

63:14Speaker 1

so march 15 if you have an an llc in the in the us you have to file some forms by then and april 15 is the date you actually have to pay your personal income taxes

63:25Speaker 0

so that's the thing i need to do or file an extension i file an extension which is what i normally do and will do again good question how do you play cast out we're i'm gonna be announcing that in two weeks so look for the cast about that that you'll be able to apply to play with a tribe and more details on that coming that's what i'm going to be prepping next week and have lots of info about that the following week but you can follow the slash castout channel on on warpcast for all the info so coming soon similar to crypto the game but different so there you

64:08Speaker 1

go alright

64:10Speaker 0

and with that adrienne have safe travels oh need a need a guide

64:17Speaker 1

are we actually getting new people welcome everyone fantastic i sometimes think people are trolling us

64:23Speaker 0

they could be
