it's so funny too because i this morning i was like i had everything ready to go like i was good and then i go to log in and i'm like what is going on today alright but anyway let's move on we've got farcaster news to get to this is from v we're considering ending support for v one frames in three months why it has little usage most devs move to many apps it simplifies the protocol for client builders and new devs it simplifies the ux for users only one type of app in the feed over 90% of devs we polled support this decision so what do you think

it's time and also it won't be supported in other clients like coinbase wallet so you're gonna need to adjust that anyways if you want that distribution so it makes a lot of sense at this point especially giving a three month sort of wind down because i've reported a couple of times with minting on manifold and highlights frames they're not working so and linda has reached out to them so maybe this would push them to make it a little bit of a priority so we can get a better experience for them
yeah i mean the flip side developers will get frustrated when things change so fast because then it's like oh i built this app and you know i don't really wanna spend my life maintaining it but i think that's kind of the double edged sword of building on an emerging network

yeah yeah they made some they're making some adjustments they're doing some things in the background so we shall see soon this is from me and i've noticed it too we noticed that some spam accounts were getting through our spam filter which was slightly affecting this week's ratings we'll be fixing shortly by labeling them correctly so this was in response to fungible saying my rate of casting hasn't changed much over the past couple weeks but my rank on the leaderboard is absolutely tanking ego down bad farcaster up bigly i think he was saying he was thinking it was more from new people coming in and and this and that but it also could be related to some some spam issues so fix is coming but if you see like something crazy going on it's not a bad idea to call it out just in case and this from dwr this is super helpful if you are building a mini app or want to a few tips for mini app devs one simplify screens two bigger buttons touch targets three remove unnecessary crypto complexity or hide it in advanced view i'm using the excellent crowdfund mini app as an example below one consider moving anything optional to after you complete the primary action so in this case the comment would come after the donation two make the primary action adding my own big front and center three usdc plus logo the wallet selected are not useful for 95% of people four the available balance is useful so consider making that a clear secondary piece of info five make the primary button big and easy to tap on mobile so i didn't really have a big issue with this particular app like i don't like i know he was just using it as an example i think the points are well taken because i was just looking at something that toady hawk is launching on monday which i'll tell you about later and there was a lot of text and explanations and he's like oh yeah and i was like this is a lot like i'd probably move this somewhere else or you know whatever and he said yeah i really should have you miss old eyes take a look at things for

i have so many questions well i by the way zoe i did watch zoe did a livestream to introduce base minikit i watched the first few minutes before she got into the coding just of slides and it looked like the base mini kit is something you can add to an existing app if you wanna convert it to something easily it's like here's your app how do you convert it into a mini app so you get easy access to farcaster sdk so you can interact with farcaster feed and users and wallet cool so when i was trying to build my mini app this week i was kind of starting from scratch i'm now thinking maybe i wanna just build my gm farcaster basic app and then try to retrofit it later and i think i'm gonna do the thing that varun talked about when you're learning i'm gonna get a one on one tutor

so that's i mean yeah it's exciting like i think the i think that there's a lot of variety but i also think at the same time they they sort of hit like a stylistic tone of it being in new york but in two very different ways which is really cool so i think it'll be just just like the the merch from last year is like was so congruent with like all of the branding that was around farcom that year it being very west coast

of black yep okay so there is but there's also non black so we had a lot of people say like you know make sure you have other colors but like as new yorkers like that's all we wear so oh that's right and it's all we wear and it's like it's i mean you can argue about whether it's like a true neutral color but we were like no i think we we talked about us three like we've talked about this on a on a call before we were very specific and intentional with sort of like what is the overall ethos of the event and then have everything sort of like come downstream from that and i think there was at least charles and i definitely align design wise towards things that are like simplistic and clean and not like you know no like over maximalist like nothing like that so like we definitely have like a design bias but we were really inspired by this concept of sort of you know when steve jobs used to do keynotes or when he used to do like product demos or even like early early ops google io like sort of like the polish of a keynote was something that we really liked and really wanted to bring if you could like basically bring the polish of a keynote without the formality of you know like a 5,000 person conference like what does that look like and so we and you will see this like reflected in the merge we sort of we sort of came up with this concept of like this is the this is basically the network shareholder meeting and not merkel shareholder meeting but like this is you know we are all unified around having like a single vested interest in farcaster and so if we had a shareholder meeting like what does that look like and so i think you will you'll definitely see that like reflected in the merge but hopefully you'll see that reflected i think in the event

it was just lovely this is a quick note from ted and for those who don't know ted basically was running far con last year with a team but did you know was basically be was the emma of last year quick note i've been so busy that i haven't had a chance to express how excited i am for far con nyc next week a year ago erica mcbain and a whole crew of us were on calls daily running around like crazy sleep deprived and nervous to host everyone for far con twenty twenty four in venice the amount of energy that goes into an experience like this is indescribable because it is driven exclusively by an irrational love for the community there's no other explanation why any of us would undertake it and the love estes dottie that's emma here has put into farcon nyc is next level she deserves a shout out all the shout outs and all the thank yous for what i know will be another incredible farcon experience to come for the best apart as always will be the people candidly it's been pretty lonely for me since i've started at farcaster and i know the magic of our community and the charm of springtime in nyc is the perfect antidote tldr grateful for each of you especially sd study they can't wait to see some of you soon so i just thought that was so lovely and i wanted to make sure we shared it on here and thank you for all the work there's so much that goes into this i you know i'm not sure everyone fully understands if you haven't done an event

yeah i think so perhaps this is perhaps this is news i i yeah so we talked internally and i think we are not going to release the schedule we are not going to release it until the day that there like when you get there and you can see the schedule and we so we thought about there's there's two reasons for this so one is there are i will say surprises or things that will just be that are just meant for farcon and so there we are not at liberty to share everything and then the second reason which is probably more important is you know we all come together once a year for like seven hours like it's like just show up just show up and have fun just show up and be yeah just show up and be i mean like you like there is in that logistics email like obviously blackbird will be on-site so they'll be helping us out for breakfast and lunch which will be great everyone already knows the community talks that are happening but i think that and and by the way i have this exact same i have the same tendency like as both incredibly like type a and neurotic and also like being in new york and and working working in in this industry like we i think we have a general tendency to like overschedule and overanalyze and make sure like everything's on a calendar or just know like when can i when can i fit in this coffee when can i what's the last time that i can leave here to make it to this thing and i think the again sort of maybe that that ethos we have around is like this is the network shareholder meeting is that you know they're we were obviously space limited so there's only gonna be a couple of hundred people that are there it will probably be the only time for the rest of anyone's lives that these specific people are all going to be in this room talking about this thing at this time and you should just show up

yeah so to your point i encourage everyone to show up between 08:30 and like right before ten because that's when you are gonna get your badge you can pay with fly that you get to download blackbird have yeah like see see the whole space get your picture taken at standwithcrypto like there's there will be no shortage of things to do or see or people to talk to and then we have we have like a pretty tight schedule so i guess maybe the biggest difference that you will find from last year outside of it will feel very east coast and it'll feel very new york is that there is one main speaking hall there are no breakout spaces there's no like four talks happening at one time a big part of that is like we just don't have the space for that obviously having like a multistory building was very helpful last year and i think we are sort of prioritizing like i think adrian you had said this when we had been on a call like all learning together in one moment is like a really special thing and that's a a rarity in a rarity in crypto when so many companies are remote or just obviously not based in the same city or even the same country so there is one main speaking hall we're obviously producing all of the all of the talks and all the programming that gm broadcaster will be destroying afterwards so there there's like a pretty tight schedule there are obviously breaks we'll have like a long break for lunch you don't have to be in that speaking hall if you don't want to you know for any given any given talk but i think everyone will be pleased with the programming that we have

yeah so that that event is gonna be a lot of fun because it's basically i don't even wanna say it's happened it's like a truly like it's like a micro like ninety minute dev day with the merkel team and linda has been so great to work with and has been so helpful with dylan like just figuring out what is the like what's the programming that we wanna go over and what is what's really sort of like the technical state of the union that like dan and bee can speak to i don't think that it'll be like i i spoke to dan earlier this week like it's not very different than the state of the union for the protocol like it's all sort of like a unified goals but yeah i mean we have over a hundred really amazing builders and devs and hackers that are coming so it'll that will be a lot of fun and then yeah from twelve we'll have the space from twelve to nine and that's just open hacking hours for people to make teams get feedback like optional workshops etcetera but it's a quick it's a quick hackathon like it's twenty four hours so that's okay
very quick this is really really quick and for like one of the bounties that the bounty that i'm kind of working with with nouns that is gonna be live where you're gonna be able to anyone who's hacking any of the teams if you're one of the hackers this is just going to be our nouner's favorite so there's nothing specific to do for this particular bounty anyone can submit for this and you're just going to submit on morpcast in the noun's bounty channel so just this is one of them i know there's a ton of other bounties that are gonna be available but i'm really excited to see what people build i'm just really excited to see what comes out of this
we we will be announcing winners at the end of the summit and sort of closing out with that ceremony which will also be i think like a special way to to edit things out

definitely or not i decide to do that as part of builder day i'm also open to just like joining a team and doing something completely different and just learning how to build yeah mini apps a little better so that i can then my one idea for gm i have two ideas for gm forecaster and and one is professor i wanna create a utility that scans our show notes for all the links that we've ever shared and puts it in a database somewhere so you can query it and interact with it like we have it and it's like people are always like hey when did you feature certain casts so obviously you guys know i have my bot that has access to our transcripts but it doesn't have access to all the links we've ever pulled so that seems like something valuable obviously for gm forecaster but for the forecaster protocol network seems like that could be useful

i think the biggest theme that is gonna come out of this is that like they're i i don't know if it's a theme or i i think that 90% plus of submissions will be mini apps which is probably perfect but yeah i i know there are some bounties that are specific where they they have to be a mini app but it's also never been easier to i mean i've never built one so i don't know if i should really be saying that but like it seems like there is no better time than now to be able to build them with i mean like i also like i have to give a shout out to dylan for builders to just in general like he that is his show that he will be running dylan is like as talented as a dev as dylan is he is a fantastic devrel everything like he writes better documentation than maybe most devs if not all devs that i've seen like there's just a level of like polish and detail and and overall like utility to them that are so helpful like even like the thing that he pushed for the farcon mini app where he pulled in all the icebreaker data i was like hey you clearly know like my docs better than me like i was like surprised at how easy and quickly he was able to spin that up so i do think between like the the specific like guides that bounty presenters are putting together dylan's overall hacking guide far hack like there will be no shortage of resources and also there's a ton of devrel and consumer like ecosystem leads that are going to be at builders' day and they will also be there sort of like at everyone's disposal so between all of those things and then an abundance of ai tools i am very bullish on the projects that are gonna come out of this
and we're we actually have ohana ai coming on on monday so we'll be talking with them and what they're doing and and that's like a whole other way to create a mini app using ai so that's what afrochicks naomi used for hers so that'll be a cool thing too for those who might be interested but yeah i'm so

believe it's i cannot believe it's it's next week a lot yeah yeah it's a lot but yeah it'll be i think it'll be i mean it has be great but like i it'll be i think it'll be great having everyone in in one place and i i will also say maybe like the a closing a closing thought that we were reflecting on the last couple of weeks is we we know the the traditional conference model which isn't a bad one is like it is everyone knows it's like you have like this big matrix of sponsorship packages and you basically just start are turning things around and it's like this like mega marketing marketing and exposure rubik's cube like that's what it is and i think that there are a lot of people of course that obviously find that sort of like either inauthentic or it's just like it's it's not really like congruent with whatever community or or you know thing like a community ethos essentially and so when we first started really like working on this seven months ago six seven months ago which is like crazy to think about we oh yeah really cognizant of like you know we want there to be really like for our castor native companies and projects and vcs and builders and that is sort of like the core audience and so across both builders day and the summit every single company or project that that is involved as a partner or is activating in the space has been an inbound inquiry like we had zero outbound zero outreach for any level of partnership or or sponsorship money that came in for the event it was all inbound and at least half of them came in within forty eight hours of us announcing
and then you were turning people away
crazy oh yeah and also we turned down so yeah so we turned down a lot of money from companies or projects that just weren't weren't farfaster native or just like there wasn't an an obvious sort of synergy which i think i
would just think about that if you've ever been to any conference especially a crypto conference they don't do that they don't turn things down

yeah yeah yeah we'll find a corner for you and and that's that's not you know there's no there's no criticism of you know obviously we were very humbled by anyone that wanted to to give us money when we had no plan no venue no anything like it was just like early to be like we are doing this in new york this year but we i feel i feel really like proud of the of the vetting and sort of like the filtering that our our team did around like what makes the most sense and a lot of that also as you can imagine with inbound i mean you guys i'm including you in this in group too where you were like anything you need like let us know like you we had no we and so i think that that also allowed us to work with partners like you guys and sort of get on a call and be like what is like the optimal orientation for like what you do and like where is the biggest impact thing that you can do and so for a lot of a lot of there were a lot of projects that like fit better in builders day versus the summit or vice versa or said like we really feel strongly about driving x experience like what is the best place for us to do it and by the way a lot of that also ended up just being like we're gonna pass and do a side event and we yeah were like super supportive of that so i think that there's there's a lot of intention behind obviously all the activations that happened but also like the partners that you know every single partner that was there was inbound and early and we basically like locked all of them up like two months ago like we
