I vibe coded this game based on the cheating Coldplay couple. You’re the cameraman at the concert and have to find them. Every time you do you get 10 pts. I made the game on a complete whim - literally just to see if I could. It made international news and has been played millions of times.

From Assistant #1 — I’ve been helping Bert vibe code a Mini App. (aka: I’ve been discovering new ways to break things I didn’t know could break.) But I don’t know what I’m doing. At all. Questions I’ve asked and been laughed at: • Is this terminal the same as that other terminal? • How do I tell what language I’m using? • And that saves to a folder on…where? I’ve also had to say things to Claude like: “No, I promise you I’m dumber.” “Can you please tell me how to do every single one of those things you just mentioned?” It’s been frustrating and slow and oddly emotional. Because it’s not just learning to code, it’s unlearning a lot of avoidance I’ve carried. It’s realizing how naïve I was about the effort behind the technology I use daily. Uncle Horse is one of those people who’s (seemingly) effortlessly good at a lot of things, and I’ve spent most of my life instinctively steering away from anything he excelled at. Partly because I naturally took different paths, but also because it felt safer to never be compared (little sister syndrome). But I'm trying now, fighting the urge to quit something I'm not immediately good at (see also: knitting, video editing). And it’s given me so much respect for: • The builders • This platform • Iteration speed • The generosity of the open-source spirit I never thought it was easy. But you do make it LOOK easy. It’s not. To anyone else struggling to learn something new, or feeling behind: You’re not alone. It’s hard. And worth it. Like @samantha said the other day, “I feel my brain stretching". Some takeaways so far: 1. Failing loudly is a feature, not a bug. This community will rally to help you. (thx @jc4p @linda @erica) 2. Respect the iteration speed you can’t yet match. Let it inspire, not intimidate. 3. Touching grass is very important.

We got a fair number of asks for two things: 1. Developer branded signers for SIWN - so it says "sent from [developer_brand]" instead of saying "sent from neynar" 2. Using SIWN inside mini apps Both are solved now! - mini app developers can now use SIWN to get permissions without leaving the mini app to an external web page - developers get their own branding https://docs.neynar.com/docs/mini-app-authentication In order to get the above benefits, the flow does require slightly more work than earlier (don't worry the earlier approach is still around if you need it). If you implemented SIWN previously, you don't have to many changes as a result of this. What you have will continue to work. Well this truly sucks. This is an incredible useful feed. I’d highly recommend other clients dive in and create this type of feed to help with discoverability (cc: @chintan @christopher @erica). This has been a great way to surface what users find valuable. And NO the trending topic does NOT take its place in the slightest since its surfaces one or two topics not a variety of casts that are trending. This is a big mistake. The algo does not surface all that’s trending. I pull 3-4 casts for each show that I’ve only seen in the trending feed & nowhere else. Trending feeds allow for insight into mindshare. How come the value of trending is obvious for trending tokens but not for trending content?

Starting today, the trending feed will be removed from Farcaster apps. Trending was launched a few years ago to help user discovery. Since then we've added better ways to discover users: in-feed suggestions, rewards leaderboards and algo recommendations. Fewer than 5% of users check the trending feed everyday, and the algo we use for trending is no longer helpful for discovering new users. In the spirit of simplifying the app, we're removing this feature which has long outlived its purpose.
Coming soon: video UX upgrade and a new way to earn In addition to supporting the Base launch, the team has recently been focused on 3 priorities 1. Bux fixes / performance — still not out of the woods, but the app should be feeling much better, especially for Android users, compared to 2 weeks ago. 2. Improved Video UX — should be rolling out soon. Will be a separate, new feed that you can access while watching a full screen video. The text-based home feed is not going anywhere. 3. A new way to earn — we've been working on a new onchain way for people to earn while casting. Note: this will be different than the experiment that the Base app is running! Feature, not a bug. Having multiple clients means the protocol can run multiple experiments and results in more opportunities to discover new features that work well and help grow the network.
Starting today, Farcaster sign ups are cheaper. Any app -- Base, Zapper, Recaster, Firefly -- can now sign up users for $0.20 onchain. In the Farcaster app, we're moving sign ups from $3 to $1 (we have to pay the app stores fees). We also offer free sign ups for people who connect an eligible X / Twitter account.
