okay so griv is an app where you can post different activities and it's using ai to analyze the image but there are some new ones new improvements coming because right now like if you if you're posting like i took a walk on the beach and you post a picture of the beach it's like oh beach picture or like beach fear plus one point it doesn't recognize like activity so there's some improvements coming but it's a it's a pretty cool app you should all go give it a run i think you it's still it's still invitation only but and then it posts directly into this channel when you share it so it's pretty cool pretty cool so it's fun and igor has been posting a lot on that so more to come on that we'll see some improvements soon i'm sure this from our friend bradq giving us the whole summary this is pretty much the whole show right here in one cast twenty nine seconds of farcaster what did you miss this weekend it was a betterment and tipping weekend with week one of the better allocation winding down contests one of one art bids and other creative ways to tip there are 30 plus great intro intros of f seers with my get to know me better giveaway and i'll share that a little bit later great to read people's stories colin announced a new paragraph feature remixing that allows you to take someone's post and remix it with your response or thoughts as your own post i didn't even see this one this can expose you and the original author to each other's audience or help reluctant writers with a prompt to get started chintan gave some helpful reflections on five weeks of tba including twenty percent of people make money their first week and that social onboarding and simplicity produce results and we'll dive more into that livecaster continues to drive engagement and events this week ufc and soccer bracket has been brought into the livecaster full shout out say angel and t l d r for building up this fun way to engage and earn and i forgot to grab that cast as well but t l d r was calling out that this was a permissionless collab which we love to see so say angel incorporated bracky without like working directly with the team which was pretty cool and in case you're unfamiliar with livecaster what that is is you're watching whatever the super bowl and you're chatting with people within this app about what you're watching so other farcaster folks in the mini app this week in mini apps featured betterment in scratch mini apps i did watch that that was fun and then gm farcaster which is us so and that's what you're watching right now lots of fun things going on so many things but we also have a few notes from the team new hide balances on mobile tap your total balance to hide your balance everywhere in the wallet great for when you want to show your wallet in public without disclosing what you're holding or there were some other suggestions around this like so you don't have to see your l's this was from dummie come on load for me but it was a good suggestion when you don't wanna see your l's this is another option as well yes hiding your warplet so this is the farcaster wallet or warplet as we still some of us are are prone to saying so from dummy hiding my warplet balance so i don't have to see my l's great option and then this one was really funny from varun come on don't be like this to me today this is funny from varun come on hide your balances for casts it was it's what it's going to say if it ever comes up here so priyanka said guys my sisters they're both not in crypto or posting on socials wanna join farcaster but they've never seen this side of me you all have gotten front row seat for the last point one point five years what do i do and they said hide balances but for for all of your guests so that's not
that's why that's why oh i loved that so this is very and what it and i was like where is this i i was like thinking it was a setting but you literally just tap on the balance and it will change it to the little asterisks so that's all you do very simple and nice nice new little feature
yeah i haven't i don't know if i i guess i can understand hiding the balances for sure like you're showing your wallet to somebody or you're doing a screenshot of something i think that's the only time i felt like i wish i had that option i really haven't i was like i don't know about this use case but yeah i get it i totally get it there's some there's some situations this from v as well swaps now succeed in ninety six point eight percent of the time in addition to completing in two point five seconds some of these are due to intentional slippage settings which prevent a trade from going through if the prices move too much all other issues we're going to keep fixing big shout out to slope for improving the reliability of the swaps slope has been heads down like very focused on the warplet and swaps in particular and is crushing it so thanks sloke just doing a lot of work on the warplet right now and it's it's going well so thank you sloke and then the average time to swap is two point five seconds very exciting and then this from mangkarones i don't know i mang we're gonna call mang the new farcaster wallet interface when opening a token asset feels more professional neat and user friendly all important information is clearly displayed action buttons are easily accessible and integration with external platforms makes the user experience more convenient so they made some improvements to that token page when you click on the token and so you're seeing some additional information and it is looking pretty pretty clean any thoughts on that like how are you how are you are you using your farcaster wallet more or are you still using your external wallet more

they are not casting on base they are posting on base because the the the farcaster of it all is kind of like under the hood but not not out front it's been five weeks since the base app beta launched at new day one a little bit longer for some of us it's like five weeks oh yeah so we've been some of us have been on there since may
the beta of the beta yeah early this is the second part of the beta since then we've thoughtfully onboarded over 30,000 people here's what we've learned so far key learnings clear entry points for earning are critical when people understand how rewards work they engage more absolutely social onboarding is better than wallet funding more jargon can be killed slippage market cap etcetera simple focused delightful mini apps beat complex ones i'm gonna stop there for a second on the how rewards work i agree yes you need more transparency because i literally have no idea what they're doing in terms of like i don't know how those are being figured out over there besides just post post more but one of the things that i know the farcaster team has said is they don't wanna reveal too much about how everything's figured out because then people game it so it's like a balance there of transparency plus making sure it doesn't get you know exploited but it's it's not not as easy i like the idea of social onboarding versus wallet funding like mhmm you're just funding your wallet no you're actually just onboarding to a social app that has a wallet so interesting continuing on behaviors we're seeing over 20% of people earn in week one just by making content posting instant money feels magical to people used to traditional social friend clusters through chat and invites lead to more engagement ai agents and group chats unlock multi multiplayer magic totally agree with that social discovery is alpha people want coins from friends or creators they know and alpha signals top holders volume spikes drive buys continued what we're fixing next improving trading alpha accuracy and speed enabling our most engaged users to invite their friends creating social token discovery mechanics providing clear explanations of how creator earnings work simplifying choice paralysis through the app and squashing bugs base app is growing fast and we're learning faster what's the number one thing you change or add tell us below so what is the number one thing you would change or add adrienne or are those in the chat what do you think like what do you what's not feeling good to you i like i do love the agents i think that is great i miss channels on there like i go to tag channels like and that's just a it's gonna be a farcaster og problem not a
yeah that's a that's a me problem like those are a couple big ones there's also just a a different i don't know different flow different feel sometimes and then the algo which we've talked about we've talked about like the the algo needs some tweaking i'm not seeing like especially in the video feed so
think those are my i myself just kinda going back and forth from base and farcaster just mostly not for features and not for anything but just different algos yeah to see what's different discover

but i think because i'm so familiar with farcaster not coming i think if you go to the base app as a new person there may be a ton of things that are confusing or like things you'd wanna see it just feels so comparable to me yeah it does that i don't actually yeah i don't have any major criticisms
yeah no it's it's i think it's really well done missing channels and feeds like different feeds like following feed mhmm or trending feed or you know what mean like trending i've only got i know i'm always gonna ask for trending feed because we've only got the one feed and the algo's not quite there i mean it definitely is good because you definitely see different things but i feel like something's missing there yeah so yeah that's my only my only big my big gripe i'm having some issues too with the the new casting flow on farcaster which i don't like when it fails
like if it's because it goes away right so goes away okay so the new casting flow is one they took away the the the screen that lets you preview your cast i think the jury's out on that half the people miss it half people are happy to see it gone so like let's just assume we don't need that but instead of waiting i think before you would wait until the cast got created before you could go back to the feed right now they drop it in a little bottom model where it's like so it's kind of happening in the background your cast is being created and it takes you back to your feed
right
and that's probably really frustrating so what happened i've never seen it fail so what happens when
it fails this has happened to me a couple times so if you're uploading like a video a photo or something like that so say you're on low bandwidth something like that so this happened to me this morning i was in my car i'm uploading it failed i'm like okay forget it i'll do this again when i get to wi fi safe to start over very frustrating
this time it saved everything but the images okay but i didn't think it i wasn't sure it was going to i don't think it did the first time that that happened to me so i'd rather like and and so and the reason i'm mentioning this because base does something similar where it does the image and video uploads after you create the cast or the post so it is definitely a different flow i'm just it could just be a bug that's i don't know you know i don't know how that gets figured out but i didn't mind the previous screen i kinda liked it and i also have had a couple typos and i know we talked about typos proof of humanity but i'm i'm not down with the typos i want a chance to
fix it i would rather or who knows maybe they're gonna get an edit but i would rather have the proofread your cast no edit

being able to edit whatever okay are you by the way in the base app are you do you have the default that every cast of yours is coined
i keep turning it off is it in the settings now
right you have to choose it when before you're when you're posting it there's like that little thing at the bottom of the post that you slide it over if you don't want it to be a coin so most of the time i'm turning it off because i don't necessarily want it to be a coin i'm just not looking to coin everything
i'm sorry some things i do i'm i'm fine with coining if it's something interesting but i just don't feel like every single thought i have needs to be a coin and i i think that's true for most people i just don't think i'm that
i'm i'm not providing that much value oh it's like
it all now i'm not always posting from the base app like i probably post more in farcaster than the base app but i i i don't turn off that setting yeah because it doesn't bother me like and and and not because i think my thoughts are worthy of a market
think you have the right i honestly think you have the right approach i think you have the right approach i think the probably the right approach is just throw it out there and you know let the spaghetti stick to the wall if it's if it wants to stick and like don't worry about it but there's something just i don't know it's still i'm just having a little friction there and it's just me it's just a me thing i was just gonna say i bet there's a reason yestercrypto why preview cast can't be a setting and that is a great question for dan and it actually was in the back of my mind as one of the questions i wanna make sure we talk to him about the flow like why what's the reason for the change what's happening like sort of behind the behind the scenes under the hood like what what is what value we're getting from that change and i'm sure there's a lot of reasons that we're just not aware of

yeah that's what we're trying to say if people are building real things on farcaster we've talked about them period like whether there's a token or not this from linda some thoughts advice on mini app and general safety in case helpful one we have automatic transaction scanning within mini apps that prevents dangerous send me all your money attacks two be skeptical when approving significantly more balance than necessary for a transaction in other words you're approving everything in your wallet for that token especially if ask for all you can always use the small frame mini app made by horsefacts for revoking contract approvals three check the creator of the mini app if something feels off it's completely okay to be skeptical and double check things even if you know the user individual accounts can get compromised or the username could be a slight edit of it to look similar we've seen that a million times on twitter common attacks that extend to outside of farcaster and outside of crypto feel free to send me this is linda not me linda feel free to send linda malicious impostor accounts on farcaster that should be nerfed there's been an uptick in some of these issues as of late and so just be careful out there and i think anytime we get more attention this happens so you see a lot of people doing you know we have some people who are actually trying to do you know stuff with mini apps like we saw the balloon one but there's also just some slop happening with or people taking your your cast that happened this past week where i saw oh multiple of people just copying your cast that make no sense in outside of you and that and they're doing it with other people too and that's how they're populating their feed and it's like yeah no don't do that
also the algorithm can learn that it's like who are you tricking but you're tricking it do

yeah i do expect i don't know if it's hacks or just vulnerabilities to increase like to your point of like as more people come in and it becomes a bigger target because there's people here with wallet balances it becomes like more a target for for scammers you can hide it from the ui everyone can see kidding you you know what a blockchain that's

i think so too i i think we just you just have to be vigilant and we there are some people who are i think it's kel sixty six i think that's what the name who's been sort of the the you know zac xpt a forecaster of late kinda keeping an eye on things and he's he's kinda calling attention to things that he feels are off so take a look you know that might be a good one to follow i he's calling something out right now and i just i where i don't have confirmation i didn't wanna show it but go take a look at his casts and you know dyor so i think you have to be like super super careful out there just double check things sometimes things feel if something feels off it might be off and the other thing is the big problem back in like 2021 is people rushing to do things because they were afraid of it was the fomo right i'm gonna miss out if i don't get this thing immediately and not and we'd have this thing icy tools i don't know if you remember icy tools some of you might remember this if you're back in the trenches then doing the nft stuff it would pop up and say this thing is trending and you'd sometimes ape into that and that would get a lot of people in trouble so if you didn't know to you know do your double checks and all those things so but it there's that kind of and the same thing can happen with the trending feed in farcaster where you go oh wait what's this what's trending do i need to get into this right now sometimes the things that are trending have been around for a while so don't get too crazy about the trending feed it's interesting it's good to know but it's also a trending token feed different from trending feed that doesn't exist anymore but trending token feed is is is one piece of information it shouldn't be your only information i guess is my point like don't don't get too excited just because it's trending i've seen tokens that have been around for you know degen can trend mhmm just because you know it's having a good moment so even though it's been around for a while doge can trend you know anything can trend so don't get too too crazy about it so be careful out there people careful out here on these streets and the small app is useful as well so you've got the revoke thing all these things so use that if you need it this so this was from you you were having some issues with or you were trying to do some stuff there do you wanna explain this i'm gonna let me read the top part first and then you can explain what's going on here lesson lesson learned to take the paved road we'll happily go back to the unpaved road of mini apps but for building admin tools that have no farcaster requirement and no need for distribution using nextoff and google libraries made this so much easier so what were you trying to do and what did you end up doing
okay so i am building a website that i needed to add authentication on top of so any of the past stuff we built for gm farcaster open to the public don't need any authentication i don't even need it in our mini app like there's you don't even sign in when you open it i just know who you are like your wallet's already connected like so i haven't needed to use any of these libraries i'm building you know i have a bunch of these tools that i built that run on my desktop to manage the mini app or podcast like giving warpee its transcripts and and things like that oh sending notifications when we go live through neynar
right that's a big one
but i wanted to put all of this in a website so that you can use it too so that you have access to these tools if i'm unavailable so i'm building a website to host all of our podcast management tools and i thought it'd be really cool to use sign in with farcaster because it's like i know who i am on farcaster and it's like it's a it's a library that i could you know you do the sign in with farcaster and then i know who you are and i can say only you know your fit and my fit

so i played with it for two days i like really struggled to get it set up i i was able to sign in but just kinda getting the whole authorization aspect and making it secure like it it it was really tough and there's not a ton of documentation and there's a sample and by that's even me being generous and i love you guys but the the documentation is lacking and then there's a sample project i'm like oh i'll just start using the sample project instead of trying to add as my and doesn't compile it didn't work like it was just like kind of a slog

so i was like i can do sign in with google guess what it's been around longer there's more mature documentation there's more code samples which means the llms know how to do it and i was overcomplicating things because i was kind of giving myself a requirement i didn't why you wanna do sign in with farcaster is one if you have a farcaster requirement or you're building an app that you need to go viral so like if you're doing a mini app and you wanted to go viral like you need to use the farcaster libraries

poorly like yeah this is a website i don't need it i don't need an and it doesn't need to go viral it doesn't need to be in mini app it doesn't need to be signing with farcaster

yeah and guess what i'm kind of like a part time developer on the side of my desk it's not my main gig so i don't have the time or interest to really get into this log of it anyway so that was the lesson was sometimes sometimes the paved road is better the paved road is better because i don't need to go trekking down the unpaved road that's all
this has been this has been our journey with streaming as well and like trying to do things good point on hard mode like early on like because we wanted this on chain focus and realizing like that may not be the best thing for our viewers and that may not be the best thing for actually for distribution so yeah not always
