I'm really grateful to have had the opportunity to work with @dwr @v and the entire team on Farcaster. They have been extraordinary teammates to build with and learn from. It's no small feat they spent 5 years building decentralized social, not the easiest path in crypto, and I'm proud to have spent my time supporting them on it I care deeply about the mission of decentralized social and I strongly believe Farcaster is in the best possible hands with @rish @manan and the Neynar team going forward. I'm particularly excited about their builder focused ecosystem, after all @pirosb3 and I built Bountycaster before joining the Farcaster team and Neynar was nothing but exceptional partners to work with Thank you to all of the builders and community members who have made Farcaster such a special place. I've always been in awe of the concentration of talent and genuinely kind people. I'll be doing my own separate thing next but I'll remain a Farcaster community member. I'm truly optimistic about Neynar bringing Farcaster into the next phase

there's a slight lag with spotlight getting set up and people getting notified there's a new spotlight, was about $30k volume in ~30 min. wholesome that these trading fees go towards purchasing holiday gifts for the community too

I'm hoping this context helps make it clearer that @zinger's role is trader outreach and growth (not shilling tokens) because that's the *same* role I was temporarily rotated on. Even though I love to pitch in wherever I can, I communicated to Dan and Varun early on that this is an important role given Farcaster's direction and someone else who is actually a trader will be needed to fit the role long term as I'm just not a trader Zinger communicated this following part already publicly so I feel fine sharing it, he was on a work trial to see the fit for the trader outreach role. He clearly crushed it so he joined the team full-time and then announced publicly right after. I totally understand how people had the perception and wanted communication around it but I hope you can have some understanding that it's a weird position to announce you work at a company to all its users when you're in an interview process/work trial and the outcome of it isn't clear yet (I actually had a similar situation when I was doing a work trial at Merkle and had to reach out to users but was uncomfortable saying I was on a work trial since I didn't know the outcome and didn't want to reveal I/Daniel was considering getting acquhired while running Bountycaster) Now that Zinger is in this role, I've been able to move back to supporting the builder side where I have actual expertise on. So I'm incredibly grateful that Zinger is in the trader outreach role full time and is doing a FAR better job in it than I could possibly do. If he's posting about tokens in the feed, it's his passion and hobby not his role, in the same way I post a lot about my experiences and learnings from building in crypto

Some thoughts / advice on mini app and general safety in case helpful 1. We have automatic transaction scanning within mini apps that prevents dangerous “send me all your money” attacks 2. Be skeptical when approving significantly more balance than necessary for a transaction, especially if asking for all. You can always use the Smol Frame mini app made by @horsefacts.eth for revoking contract approvals 3. Check the creator of the mini app. If something feels off, it's completely okay to be skeptical and double check things. Even if you know the user, individual accounts can get compromised or the username could be a slight edit of it to look similar (common attacks that extend to outside of Farcaster and outside of crypto) 4. I'm not an engineer or expert vibe coder. I literally learned how to build a mini app 1 week ago and not pretending otherwise. Point is even with someone like me it's easy to get started and gatekeeping new stuff I'm learning is dumb so why I'm doing livestreams teaching others
My setup for vibe coding a Farcaster mini app 1. set up github project repository 2. use v0 to build out a frontend 3. use cursor or claude code to build out rest of app (personally found claude code to be better). include the llms.txt from farcaster as context (makes it easier for AI to read) 4. set up a database if need to store data (e.g. storing user scores in a game). I used neon with vercel since easy integration 5. deploy to vercel 6. set up farcaster specific features like a manifest and embed 7. once deployed, use ngrok to test mini app locally so not testing new features live with users

A couple updates to Farcaster token drops 1) any future announcements will be done on the @farcaster account so make sure to follow it! 2) likely won't call it airdrops in long run so the name closer reflects the actual setup but we haven't decided yet. I'm personally using the term "token drops" in the meantime
