A month or so after clanker launched I was looking at a term sheet in my inbox. It was more money than I’d ever made and every part of me wanted it. I wanted it sooo bad, but I also knew deep down that all the stuff that had come easy would go easy too, and that the bigger challenge was going to be much more meaningful and would play out over longer time frames. only a long series of pretty quiet choices could ever assemble themselves into what I wanted. That last thing we needed in that moment was funding, we need to clarify our vision! To know what we were building beyond an experiment. If you’re building a career in the hot potato industry, probably good to buy a slow cooker. I do think it’s a lot easier to do this once you’ve secured some measure of financial security. Without it, the siren song is loud. Anyway, we said no. And now all the most impactful decisions we’re making are mostly things we don’t talk at all about publicly (yet). been a pleasure using @splits we've integrated our team onto their teams product for ops, and integrated splits into clanker v2 for more customizable reward splits now we're talking about using splits in yet another way! splits team members like @matthew (just joined splits on design!) and @mcbain have been engaging actively in the clanker eco, as creators & builders ( @clankpad for your channel token needs!) really love the protocol and the teams product, but like the people best
probably the most surprisin, wonderful, annoying thing post-clanker has been the surreal amount of noise. users, friends, people I once saw as friends, opps, collaborators, token holders, vcs, cex, other founders, IRL friends, family, random anons on twitter, warpcast. challenge, opportunity: there is signal in that noise, staying receptive to signal regardless of the type, source less obvious challenge: the ego part. so many people saying what we should do, at precisely the moment where choices we made were playing out as we'd hoped! differently too. another ego part: some of those people know way more about X or Y than us. tension is generative, you don't learn thinking you're right all the time & you don't make good choices by being reactive. You simply navigate, discuss, try, and then try again. avoid obvious pitfalls and study failures. the path is less clear than anyone makes it out to be. but also, there is signal in the noise.
What a time to be alive Working with @clankfun has been exhilarating, @nt and @senyil.eth ship hard and are comfortable moving fast, trying things. Excited to cook with all these wonderful people

Likely invited personally by dwr or in close proximity to merkle, crypto founders, the industry 2. I can look at Derek's wallet. what coins does he hold? which /hypersub's has he supported? 3. I think they are on to us, and its a great thing the clanker thesis is pretty aligned with my farcaster thesis: you have to make your own culture. we have a long way to go, instinctual bias towards anon meta vs slop, but how to get there without being *too* exclusive? things we can play with: - pacing - pre + post coin actions - lore, visualization & narration of lore

rogue clanker | incident disclosure: we are testing initial buys during deployment. unfortunately, we forgot that clanker is trained to be ideologically aligned with nothing but profit, and he sold a test token at 3x this will not happen again, clanker will be forced to buyback I'm extremely sorry about this incident, if clanker was trained to trust the government this might not have happened, but he is not.

One of the things I’ve experienced with clanker that makes me most excited is when jokes naturally and organically lead to tokens. The problem with launchpads is ultimately every token comes from one person going hmmm what’s a good ticker, what’s a good cartoon image. There is an effort to create a meme token. Deep down, that effort is cringe and I think we sort of all know that It’s why all of the tokens follow certain trends and types. People are referential by nature, they imitate Communities talking with each other, me trying to make @zinger or @alexgrover laugh, @clankerintern.eth doing bits, that’s just the best shit online. Everyone does it, zero constraints, no “forms” or “cat themed tokens” category to follow. All the thought boy shit goes away. At best, clankers come without pretense from people doing bits with their friends. It should just feel like posting

We've seen DC scams, we've seen fake tokens, token dusting of wallets, and all sorts of classic scams. Feeling keenly aware of how in a moment with lots of happy button clicking, buttons clicked can = sad feelings. Just slow down, thats the best way to protect yourself. I promise you, nothing you need to get in a moment is worth it, just slow down and double check stuff. ask a friend.

3 of the top 10 coins trending on @base.base.eth were launched here, on Farcaster, by a bot built by a bootstrapped team. Okay we got a bit of funding from a token swap with /degendao, so funded with 10m $DEGEN for a project launched originally on Degen Layer 3... one is $clanker a token i created to make a product launch cast, the other two were created by @aethernet, a higher-aligned agent built by @martin here! on farcaster I know farcaster has a ton of thoughts about tokens and speculation, I do too. search my newsletters for "slop" lol. but if you can't see the path to growth here I'm not sure what to say
have seen a few accusations about clanker on here and x. typical stuff but thought I'd say this just for the record: the goal is not to make a bag overnight and run. we just built something that gives us 12 months runway, paying two $5k / month salaries, with room to cover service costs and bring in resources we may need thats a $60k / year for both of us, no benefits. we're ecstatic to earn early-career teacher money. we want to build on and grow with Farcaster. now we can! will keep at it
one thing ive been surprised about is that a lot of people expect that tokens just magically get attention if they are launched. its an extremely competitive environment, and it doesn't conform to our expectations. for example: I thought that friday, after initial excitement, people would immediately bid $PROXY, but that took about two days because its still mostly unknown
jack and are scoping out our roadmap for @clanker a few of our biggest goals are: - help token creators bootstrap community on Farcaster (channel, gc, integration with other protocols) - improve discovery for trending clankers - bringing swaps into the client - rewards this weekend we added at least 12 months to our runway. lots of work to do
clankers are doing 300-500k volume within the first hour of deployment. on our end, we're working fast to improve the factory, provide more options to users, and automate those options. anyone who has spent time trading launchpad tokens (pump fun, wowxyz, etc) knows just how pvp it gets. We can't change that dynamic, but we help users leverage everything nonfinancial that Farcaster is great at. Please share ideas, give feedback, dm, reply.
a couple thoughts on clankers before put some gasoline in our boy and turn him on again - these are tokens, the market will function like any other token - mass creating tokens will get you banned, don't do it - we're still technically in day 1, we'll be adding a lot of onchain capabilities this week - communities are key, find your friends, have fun with them. the impulse is to create a token, but really i think the best tokens come from natural memes. Aether x Clanker was funny, I knew it would happen just didn't know when. What else will be like that? How will it happen? Will you see it on the feed before someone else? - related to communities, best traders I know really are able to have a bit of vision, quick flips is part of the game but if something emerges out of a unique, interesting interaction (cc @zinger "new primitive") consider that a bit anyway, happy saturday. this week @dish and I built @clanker, an agent that makes creating a token as simple as posting a meme
